CD Burn Settings

Under CD Burn settings, one of the check boxes includes: Include CD Text. What does this mean? Should I check it?
Thanks.

In iTunes, goto Help. Select iTunes Help. Type in "CD text" into the search window. You will find this answer:
"CD players in some vehicles can display information stored on CDs; select Include CD Text to use this option."

    Many thanks for the diagnostics.
Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver.  This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.
With that one, I'd start with solution 3 from the following document:

  • How to change burn settings

I tried to change my burn settings to burn my playlist onto a cd. However, I noticed the disc burner was called Matshita DVD-R UJ-898. I'm not burning a dvd. It should be what I put in DC-R. Is there a way to change it. I can't remember if it's always been there or not. I really didn't pay attention when I would burn songs before.

That's the model name of your optical drive, reflecting that it is DVD capable.  It will always be called that in the burn options unless you install another model drive. The disc format you select determines the burn mode.

  • CD Burner ignoring Burn Settings

I was trying to burn a DVD instead of 5 CDs of a book that's in my itunes. When I went to burn disc, and chose The radio button MP3 CD, the next window totally ignored my choice, and I got a window entitled: "Burn Settings" that said:
+You have inserted a blank DVD but originally selected a CD format. Are you sure you wish to create a data DVD instead? Data DVDs are only usable in computers with a DVD drive. Burning a DVD may take as long as an hour.+
Should I ignore the window and just burn the DVD and see if it plays? Any suggestions?

Let me see if I can help you understand your delima.
Just because you buy a very expensive Media Brand, doesn't mean it is any good. There is such a wide range of quality in CD's and DVD's it is really hard to select what is considered to be the best.
A very good guide to use for Media in general for both CD, and DVD's is below.
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Next there are a couple of KEY points to remember when burning, these will help you.
Never have any other Applications open when burning.
I tend to use either CD-R or DVD-R Media, the reason is these 2 formats are the most widely used and recognized in all Players, and Computers alike.
Always choose the slowest speed to get a high quality burn.
This next suggestion is probably the most important.
Not all CD-R's and DVD-R's are the same
    Read the packaging carefully
Many will explain that they will burn at all speeds from 1X upwards
This will help insure that your burner Software will choose the correct speed.

  • Burn settings

Where can I find the burn settings on itunes?  It's not very apparent.

    Enceladeous,
When you request "Burn playlist to disc," the Burn Settings dialog will come up automatically.  It has some useful options, as pictured below.  Choose what you want, and then click "Burn."

Use 'minus' media and write at a low speed (2x - but not higher than 4x).

  • Burn settings to play on older computer

I am trying to upgrade a computer from 8.6 to 9.0 says i need firmware update which it says is in cd extras folder. update not there. went onload to download updates and burned a disk on my powerbook g4 and my imac flatpanel. neither disc had volumes that could be recognized by the older bondi blue imac. what setting do i have to use to burn cds that can be read on this machine. i have toast and disk utility. thanks.

If the disks you burn are readable on the newer Macs then your settings are already correct.
Older CD-ROM drives can't read CD-R disks, no matter what settings the disks were burned with.
If you download the firmware update directly to the bondi iMac then there's no need to burn it to a disk anyway.

  • IDVD Burn Settings

I am tired of burning discs on idvd with a menu, and having to wait for it to encode and burn on the discs. How can I burn a dvd on iDVD to instantly play the movie once it's inserted in the player? If it's not possible, what are some other options for buring dvds to use that format for macs?

I am tired of burning discs on idvd with a menu, and having to wait for it to encode and burn on the discs.
With or without a menu, the encoding still has to be done before burning can begin. If you are burning multiple copies of the same project, here is one way to save time. Go to File>Save as disk image. This will create a file that can be viewed using your computer's DVD player. This has two advantages:
    1. You can view the project and find any errors and correct them before burning and wasting a DVD.
    2. The encoding is saved; you can burn multiple copies of the disk image using Disk Utility without repeating the encoding process for each disk.
    I hope this helps.

  • ITunes DVD burn settings

I'm about to take some of my own advice and see about burning my purchased music to a DVD-R of some stripe. That way I'll have an external backup even if my backup drives and computer get zorched by a lightning strike or a massive surge.
Here is the question. When buring a data CD or DVD directly from iTunes, does iTunes finish the disk even if it isn't full? Is there an option to burn just a session and finish the entire disk later?
    Anybody know?
    Doc

After the last song is burned iTunes immediatly finishes the (data)disk.
    Sorry, no multi-session option.

  • I am trying to burn a CD from a playlist in iTunes. I set everything up, and then when it tries to burn, it cancels the burn right away, and gives me the error code: 4251. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, so I wanted to burn a CD to play on players in the house. The songs on my playlist are from CDs that I own and imported into my iTunes. Here are the steps I've taken:
    1. I created a playlist
    2. Selected File > Burn Playlist to Disc...
    3. My Burn Settings are as follows: Maximum Possible Speed (I have tried all the other speeds as well with the same result), Audio CD (No gaps between songs), Use Sound Check is selected, Include CD Text is selected (I have also tried unselecting these two options).
    4. Then I clicked Burn
    5. Within a couple of seconds "Cancelling Burn" shows up in the window at the top of the screen, and a box pops up that says: The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4251).
I have tried different CDs, I have changed all the settings in the Burn Settings box, and I get the same result over and over again. I researched the error 4251, and it refers to a problem with importing songs from a CD. This is totally irrelevant since I'm not trying to import, I'm trying to burn. This is a blank CD, and it is a CD-R. These CDs are off a tower I purchased less than a month ago, and have had absolutely no problem burning other things to these CDs. I really don't want to have to re-import these songs to Windows Media Player or another application just so I can burn what I want onto a CD, but this is almost the point I am at.
iTunes certainly isn't helping me much at this point, and I would appreciate any feedback into what I am possibly doing wrong in trying to create a CD.

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

  • Re: Problem with TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D TO04 stoped burning CD and DVD.....

Hi everyone! The problem is basically it just doesn't want to write/burn any brand of cd/dvd anymore . It worked just fine for little more than year and recently developed that problem. I'm sure its not the media brands as I've tried with many. The problem persists with Nero, Alcohol120%, MagicISO, PowerISO, Burn4Free, no matter what I try to burn- ordinary data, audio, programs or images. Note that I'm able to write with Alcohol successfully but there's actually nothing on the CD and Nero burns the data also but fails to verify afterwards and gives an error. Writing on DVD R/RWs is completely unsuccessful creating coasters. Also the drive opens itself with no reason and whenever it wants. I have Toshiba A200-1MB notebook running original Vista Home Premium. Here is an error report, hope it'll help. Thanks and any help given is much appreciated!!!

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

Also remove any dust on the lens using a clean microfiber cloth.
