CD Burner plug in 5.01

The will not install . any ideas why? i have an Audigy 2zs audio card. all other updates went well . ?

The Audigy 2ZS came with my Dell XPS 600... A CD Burner Plug In? works with Media Source Player 3. but the CD plugin version 5 will not work in Media Source 5 with my Dell Audigy 2ZS.. perhaps ill just uninstall version 5 of the software and stick with version 3 .. I prefer version 3 anyway as most player options are more handy in Version3 than in Version 5. thanks for your help.

  • New FireWire DVD Burner Plugged In - DVD Player Wants To Change Region?!

I have just bought an external Freecom FW/USB 2.0 DVD Burner.
As part of my testing, I inserted a DVD-R video I had made and attempted to view it via DVD Player.
However, I got a warning window saying that as this was the first time I had played a DVD I would have to set the region.
This DVD is a home-movie and as such has no region.
Needless to say, the DVD plays perfectly when using the Superdrive.
If I did set the region would it only apply to the Freecom or would it be one of the 5 changes you are able to make to the Superdrive?
Is every DVD burner allowed 5 changes of region?
I have not attempted to change the region as normally I will not be using the Freecom to play DVDs . . . . . just burning and copying.
What exactly does changing the region affect? The DVD Burner, my iMac, DVD Player or what?

    Hi Ian,
most if not all computer DVD drives allow up to 5 changes of the region code with the 5th being the last and permanent one.
The region code itself is saved inside the drive itself and each drive is 'for it's own'.

  • Using Dodge and Burn Plug-in

I took a photo that I like of a sunset with trees in the foreground. I've been able to crop the worst of the powerlines out but I still have two remnant lines in the body of the photo.
I have tried to figure out the workflow on the dodge and burn tool to accomplish getting rid of these powerlines with no success. I have searched this forum and the manual for instructions for using this tool.
Does anyone have a workflow that would get rid of these powerlines? I do not have Photoshop nor do I intend to buy it.

    Hi there,
If all you're wanting to do is remove powerlines, I'd suggest using the Spot and Patch tool instead of dodge and burn. This should clone out your powerlines and replace them with sky for a more natural effect.
I've not used it much, so you'll need to experiment a little with the settings, or look up tutorials or other forum threads here if you get stuck.

  • File name punctuation WILL cause MP3 and DVD burn errors – workaround?

OK, I’ve seen TONS of questions about problems burning MP3 format CDs and DVD. I’ve been having this problem for quite a while and today I just got ****** off enough to do some deep research. I seek to share my finding and suggestions for work arounds.
    THE PROBLEM
iTunes can burn regular CDs since the song file name is not actually put on the CD. The CD or DVD burner work for burning audio discs and with other applications. All the burn preferences are set correctly and have been validated. But when you attempt to burn an MP3 CD or DVD (for backup, transfer or for player that play MP3 discs), iTunes may do the following:
Checking media (iTunes will ask: “You have inserted a DVD. Are you sure you want to create a Data DVD? answer yes, it’s a blank DVD disc in a working DVD burner)
    Checking playlist
    Burning disc… initializing
"The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (xxxx).”
    THE CAUSE
Many times the error is due to song, album or artist names with unacceptable punctuation in them. iTunes does not tell you why and the error message and Google searches and Apple support/discussion forum details are sketchy… but in most cases its “illegal” punctuation in the song name, artist or album. I isolated at lest the apostrophe ‘ there are probably other illegal name punctuations too.
The cause my be explained by Apple following ISO or Joliet file name specifications or file name length specifications for CD or DVD discs. But since this appears to be undocumented (to the iTunes user) there is a need to understand the restrictions to allow error free disc burning.
    THE CHALLENGE
Even if the playlist name does not have punctuation, if ANY playlist song name/artist/album does, the DVD burn will fail. Removing the offending songs from the playlists results in a successful burn but hey, I WANT those other songs too!
    POSSIBLE WORK AROUNDS
Changing actual song file name – even if you change the name in iTunes (Get Info, Info, change name, artist, album) the actual song file names are not updated and continue to have the punctuation error resulting in a burn failure.
It appears that the actual file name needs to be changed. This can be a challenge. If you change only the file name you need to add modified file back into iTunes and the old file link is now broken. This is a bigger problem if that song file is in multiple playlists (the old ones are broken and the new one needs to be substituted). This is a REAL problem if you have 2,800 songs with an ‘ in them (like I do).
LETS WORK TOGETHER AND SHARE RESULTS
I’ve seen many, many unanswered questions about iTunes CD and DVD burning problems that will likely be solved if we can collectively develop and document a workaround. So, here is
    THE QUESTION
What is the best way to rename (or retag) MP3 song files to eliminate punctuation and update iTunes and playlists so these songs can be burned to CD or DVD without violating the undocumented illegal punctuation restriction? The work around may differ for OS X vs Windows users so help on both would be appreciated.
Thank you all in advance for your help!

been searching myself to create my own cdg for use in universal karaoke players. Kjams appears to offer the most hope for all I want to do. although there's something new now called Aria which promises to do a bunch of stuff for 79 $. Otherwise, all that I want to do as listed by the original poster, would cost me Kjams lite, plus the burn plug in is extra, plus I'd need the kjams producer as I would be building a cdg by adding the synced lyrics to something I've removed the vocal from, on Audacity program. if I go with Kjams, those 3 softwares, it will cost me 150, while I'm so jealous all those PC karaoke singers have free software for karaoke they can download.
I've been buying my cdg discs at 1.99 a pop, but they don't have special songs I want to perform. Aria for Mac might just do it all but I don't need the "scratch" sound they are pushing. that makes me steer away from the software.
experimenting with the Imac 10.6 idvd movie quicktime might work. I made a few cdg but have not tried them in the club karaoke machine yet. I added the lyrics to tuneprompter which is a free software that lets you add and sync the lyrics to the music with the spacebar. thats fun. but it's all in experimental thing so far. I know Kjams does not let you add lyrics and sync them yourself. you are supposed to import cdg to kjams that are already available and pay for them. in this case I want to find my own special tunes. good luck to you. there's one other thing but it's expensive. buying software which turns your mac into a windows platform by partiioning it and you start up in one or the other. that's also about 100-150 software.

  • Ken Burns effect - sutible plugin for FCE

    Hello,
I have been looking though the forums and searching the net for a decent ken burns plug-in for FCE that allows an iMovie style action on a photo.
As I need to inlcude many photos I want something quicker then manipulating using keyframes, BUT I really would like something in FCE not just do it in iMovie and import it in.
Has anyone come accross a decent plugin for this? preferrably one which doesnt cost more the FCE itself!
    Many Thanks
    Andy.

    Ian,
That looks like a nice package. I remember looking at their offerings a while back, but found that my graphics card prevents their software from running on my computer. Here are the requirements taken from the Noise Industries site. These are the supported cards on both Intel and Power PC machines:
    • ATI Radeon 9550, 9650, 9600, 9600 XT, 9700, 9800, 9800 XT, X800, X850, X1600, X1900 XT, HD 2400 XT, HD 2600 PRO, HD 2600 XT, HD 3870
    • ATI Mobility Radeon 9600, 9700, 9800, X1600
    • NVIDIA GeForce 6600, 6800 Ultra DDL, 6800 GT DDL, 7300, 7600, 7800 GT, 7800 Ultra, 8600M GT, 8800 GT, 9400M, 9600M
    • NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500, 5600
For best performance, a graphics card with a minimum of 256MB video memory is recommended.
The following graphics cards are not supported:
    • NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5200
    • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
    • Intel GMA 950, X3100
    • ATI Radeon 8500, 9000, 9200
Then I looked at the GeeThree offerings and find that you need FCE 4. I have 3.5.1. So until a new Mac shows on my desk, I'll stick with using the motion tab to animate stills.

  • How to burn slideshow on HD video blueray

Apparently one cannot burn directly to disc from LR5 64 bit version. As there is a 1080 p video preset option for exporting the slideshow in HD format , it seems logical to burn the resulting .mp4 file on a blueray disc and play the slideshow on an HD TV using a BD player. Does Adobe offer a " burn-plug in " or is there a third party software that can burn the file on disc ?
I do not want to buy some burn software without having heard the experiences of people doing above . Thank you

    Hi
If this is a New Mac - then there is no iDVD on it - even as iMovie think so.
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Exporting Images - no burn to DVD/CD option

Why when I export and look at my post processing options is the option to burn to a DVD/CD not presented to me? I have an internal CD/DVD read/ write in my laptop and an external DVD burner plugged into a USB port. Yet, no option to burn? Any ideas?
BTW, I am working on a PC, XP OS, if that helps.
    Thank you very much.

Lots of discussion about this in the past. Do a forum search for "export burn option" for ideas.

  • Burn Karaoke disc

Hi anyone know how you can burn Karaoke disc using iTunes (or some other app) that includes the instrumentals as well as the lyrics so it can play on a karaoke machine, or DVD player?
The instrumentals are .mp3 file format, and the lyrics are .cdg file format, here is a example of one of the songs I'm trying to burn to a Karaoke disc on my Mac:
    Aerosmith - Don't Want To Miss A Thing, I.mp3
    Aerosmith - Don't Want To Miss A Thing, I.cdg
Keeping in mind that I have both the instrumentals as well as the lyrics with matching file name with the exception of the file type, does anyone know how to burn these (using a Mac) to a disc that will work in both a karaoke machine as well as a DVD player?

been searching myself to create my own cdg for use in universal karaoke players. • Dodge and Burn

In Aperture 2 I could use the dodge and burn plug in to create a consistent totally white or totally black background to most any light color or dark color even if it was not consistently even in color. Example: I have a dark green sheet with folds, etc that are darker and lighter in a background. But when I try to make it totally evenly black in Aperture 3's dodge and burn it will not go totally and evenly black in the entire back ground even when I set the "amount" as high as it goes. Why? Second is there another way to accomplish this in Aperture 3?

Aperture 3 can make it sufficiently black, but you have to do it after the fact. Dodge and Burn were changed substantially between Aperture 2 and 3, and it is non-destructive in Aperture 3 (which is a significant… significant advantage).
Anyway, first, brush in the burn and get the mask as you want it. Once you're done, hit return (or 'A') or whatever.
Now, you'll see in the inspector there is a new item for "Burn" at the bottom. The default for amount is 0.4. Crank that slider to the right and you'll see you can turn it up a lot. It will also show you how good your mask is You may need to practice with the feather brush to optimize it.

  • I wonder if you have missed a free neat little plug-in?

I downloaded a plug-in from Noise Industries recently:
    http://www.noiseindustries.com
and in correspondence from this company it was mentioned that few movie makers had downloaded it.
It is part of an FXFactoryFreebie pack and I found is fabulously easy to use and a great deal of fun, thoughtfully and beautifully engineered, just, I might add, as it is with those of their other products I have tried.
I think perhaps the title may have put people off, and if you were deterred, stay with me for a few seconds.
    Star Wars.
I am wondering if some glanced at this and thought, "Oh, pooh, they already made that movie. I am not into sci-fi, even tho I could certainly do a better job than that Lucas guy." A natural thought. I thought it myself.
    However.
I used that slanting back and away rolling script for the opening of a family movie with my house standing in for Tara. ( It is nothing like Tara; it is a four bedroom house with a creek in back, standing on a slope overlooking the mortgage.)
Then I noticed something. The rolling script can be changed so that it runs absolutely vertically. Switch to some neat white fonts and you have a rolling opening title. Put it at the end of your movie and you have a fine looking credit scroll. You could insert expository text in the middle. (When the police arrested Blenkinsop it dawned on him that using a machete on his employer in front of 20 witnesses may have been a tad indiscreet.)
Boris has a fine rolling scroll, and there are others. I found this one very easy and pleasant to use and so I prefer it.
If you don't have it, take a look at it, and while you are there, eyeball their free Ken Burns plug-in, too.
Disclosure. Alas, I have no financial interest in this company.

Thanks a lot for this information !
Is It the list of installed add-ins from your SRM system ?
In fact, It seems that BW and SRM are linked with PI_BASIS installed in each systems ... So, these is no PI at all ...

  • Snow Leopard and Dodge and Burn

Since installing Snow Leopard the Dodge and Burn plug-in that comes with Aperture does not work properly. I am getting double and flickering cursors for the area of the brush strokes. I use a Wacom tablet.

Right. I am having the same problem with saving PS files back to Aperture. I found a simple workaround. Go back to Aperture and highlight an image other then the one you want to save from PS and it will save back to Aperture just fine.
For those using Nikon Capture NX 2, images won't even load. Why is it so hard for Apple and Nikon to work together? It goes both ways. When a new Nikon raw format comes along, Adobe supports it the day it is released. Apple takes forever. And now, Apple releases a new version of their operating system and the message from Nikon is that they are looking into it but can not promise a solution. C'mon Nikon, a large percentage of Nikon users work on Macs. Of those, some are professionals. If you want your software taken seriously, support it properly.

  • Unable to burn data to a DVD

I've got a brand new Samsung model SE-218BB portable DVD burner plugged into my Macbook Pro 8,2. Every time I tr to burn data to a DVD, it tells me The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 268435459). This is after it seems to get to 100%. I'm running 10.8.4. I tried googling this error but haven't had much luck.
I tried calling Samsung but their support is a mess. I tried rebooting, but that didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions?

What did Samsung tell you when you called?  You really need to deal w/them since it's their product you are having problems with.  If they are of no help, return their product, get your $$$ back & purchase a burner that is Mac friendly when it comes to tech support.

  • Slow DVD Burning when using IDE card

I have a DVD burner plugged into an ide card and it only burns DVD-R at 2x. If I plug it straight into the board it burns at normal speed (12-16x). How do I configure the board to accept the ide card so that the drive burns at the proper speed?
During startup, raid detects the DVD drive model and indicates UltraDMA mode 4. For bios settings bus mastering is enabled and onboard ide is disabled. If I enable onboard IDE then the computer won't boot, so it is disabled. I am using dvd decrypter for burning and verbatim DVD-R's.
I will soon have 4 DVD burners all plugged into my 2 port raid card, so I can burn four discs at once. I will be burning hundreds of discs for a side job and need this to work asap. The IDE card is a Promose Ultra133 TX2. My board is the MSI K9N SLI Platinum and the burner Lite-On SOHW-1693S.

Hence what a forum is all about.
Sorry that I only now found this thread but glad to see you worked it all out.  I have the same promise controller card laying in a drawer collecting dust right now for the same reason.  I did get it to work but it was very unreliable on my K8N board.  Because of this, I now only use 2 of my burners so that each can be a master connected to independent channels on the motherboard.  I did away with all other IDE drives on this system and now have 4 SATA drives running happily.  I may look into purchasing one of those controllers like yours, and reconfigure.  I have having my 4 300GB PATA drives collecting dust.

  • Burning Audiobooks from Audible

Does anyone know how to burn an Audiobook that was purchased from Audible.com? Are there only certain CD burners that have the capability? I can't seem to get my burner to work with audiobooks. Help!!

Hey Danny, I work with Audible, so I should be able to help with this.
Here is information on how to install and use Audible Manager for cd burning:
    http://audible.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/audible.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?pfaqid=1991
If you already have Audible Manager installed, and you are not able to burn cds using those instructions, it sounds like the Roxio cd burning plug-in isn't working for you. In that case, follow these steps to remove Audible Manager:
You can uninstall Audible Manager by going to Start, Programs, Audible Manager, Uninstall Audible Manager. During the uninstallation process, choose not to remove the Audible files and the Windows Media filter by selecting "No" when you are asked if they should be removed.
After Audible Manager is removed, you can proceed to www.audible.com/software. Now, as counterintuitive as it may seem, you should proceed to install Audible Manager for Windows 98/ME. This version is fully compatible with Windows XP, actually, but will install Gear cd burning drivers (the ones used by iTunes), instead of the Roxio cd burning plug-ins you were using.
Hopefully you'll have better luck with this version.
