CD burner won't complete burn

Just upgraded to 10.4.8 and had no trouble burning a disk from iTunes, but when I tried to burn some pics from my burn folder, when it was nearly complete, a message came up that said that the connection to the CD burner was lost and the burn did not complete. The discs that I tried both are now unreadable by the computer. By the way, it is the original CD-RW/DVD drive that came with the system.
Does anyone have an idea as to what is the problem here?
Thanks!

The Media you were using is more than likely the issue.
use the highest quality media on your projects, and you will have your best luck using -R Media as well.
Some of the cheaper, high speed media has shown to be a problem as well, only the higher quality high speed Media works consistatly, in the slower optical drives.

Here is a good guide.

CD's are not as bad as DVD's but this quality guide is good to follow for both.
Be sure you let it verify at the end.

  • Help desperately needed. DVD project won't complete burn...

Hi, firstly I am really not great at the whole computer thing so simple English and basic direction would be an enormous help!
I have a DVD project which totals over 7GB in memory so I am trying to burn a dual layer disc.
I initially got the "hardware error 37303" message. I looked online, it advised downloading Microsoft Fix and ASPI, I did so and this message is no longer appearing. However...
The project now gets to 273.81MB of the writing capacity and just stops, it's done this 5 or 6 times now. I have tried burning to 3 discs without sucess, I have tried burning an DVD image a DVD folder...still nothing, simply the message says "writing files. failed completed"
This is driving me absolutely crazy! I need this burned asap so your kind help would be hugely appreciated

Does the Check Project throw any warnings? Not even folders or images being created would point to something more serious. Also try a manual transcode and menu render before initializing the build. It may either resolve the issue or at least give a more meaningful error.

    Thanks for that.
In response to your questions, there are no project errors and I have rendered the full project. The preview is also absolutely fine.
How do I manually transcode? When I bring down the file menu the transcode options are greyed out so I am unable to click on them.
The DVD has three menus, 12 separate video files, all accompanied by audio. The size of the complete project is around 7.5GB and on every attempt to burn it gets to the burn process, says it will take about 45 minutes, burns 273.81 MB then ejects the disc saying "completed failed" It's driving me absolutely nuts!!
I would really appreciate if you could suggest a solution as I need to have this project on DVD asap and need 6 copies...
    Thanks for your response.

  • IMovie 3.0.3 and iDVD suddenly won't complete burning

I'm desperate for help. I'm using iMovie 3.0.3 and iDVD to import all of my cherished home movie from miniDV to burn it all on DVD. The first three went fine, but now I can't burn any more dvds through iDVD. The progress bar gets stuck at a significant chunk of time left, and refuses to finish the burn. I have to cancel the application everytime now. Do you think it's a software problem - that I should upgrade my operating software and upgrade to iLife or does it sound like a hardware problem?

This is helpful for the dvd's that I've already burned, but the problem is that I can't continue burning any dvds from new video I have imported into iMovie. I'm not making multiple copies of one dvd - I'm importing footage from a series of hour-long minidv tapes. So each tape is one dvd. I've done three tapes (and three dvds) and now the process is stopping halfway through the burning process of a new iMovie.

  • DVD burner won't read burned DVD's

We have a dual 2Ghz G5 with 2.5Gb's of ram that used to be able to read DVD's that had been burned. Now it will read only commercial DVD's and CD's (it can burn CD's fine). It won't accept non-burned DVD-R's either.

    Hi.
I have almost the same problem:
I bought an PM G5 2x2Ghz with 1Ghz of RAM in november 2003, and my superdrive is a model PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D that used to brun any kind of dvd's an cd's and had no problem to read burn dvd's.
But now, it can only burn DVD-R (but no problem for the CD's) and most of the old Dvd's that i burned on my G5 can't be read anymore.
Can someone tell me what's the problem and how can it be solved.
    thank you very much.
    bye.
PS: Is it normal thaht i've never been able to read a DVD's burned from windows on MAC OSX but CD's yes?

  • I have 10.3.1, how come the CD's I burn won't play in my vehicle?

I have itunes 10.3.1, how come the CD's I burn won't play in my vehicle?

I have been having issues with edited tracks from Toast/CD Spin Doctor that I send to my iTunes library, so that I might burn them onto a CD at a later date.
For example, when I try to hear my 3:42 edited track of a tune I had just sent over from Spin Doctor to iTunes, instead of hearing 3:42 of the "edited track", I only hear the first 3:42 of the raw "unedited" track.  In other words, if my raw Spin Doctor file had 20 seconds of silence before the track started, I would hear that first 20 seconds in my iTunes file instead of the edited file.
Personally, I think Apple needs to allow us Mac users to have a "download previous version" option when serious bugs like this appear on the updates.  Seems they give Windows users links to older versions, but for us Mac users, they make it hard for us to easily find older versions.  I feel like I'm being held hostage waiting for the next version, or patch.
And when I try to report the issue to Apple, when I go to the "What version of iTunes are you using?", they still don't have version 10.3 listed in their pulldown menus (as of 7/7/11).
If you want me to plunk down money for Lion, then you better get my iTunes back to where I could use it again.
Sorry for the rant, I've been in a major vinyl transfer-to-CD groove in the last month, and this just ruins my momentum. Apple has really disappointed me.

  • Tecra 9100 won't read burned CDs

    Hi.
I have a Tecra T9100 and the MAT****A DVDROM now won't*read burned CDs.
It has no problems when reading manufactured CDs / DVDs.
I noticed this after upgrading the BIOS with the 1.6 version.
Is there something else I need to do / configure / install ?
    Thank you.

    Hi
Maybe you should check different CDs from different manufacturers and should change the burning speed to the slowest one.
If this will not help then a CD/DVD drive issue might be the reason why not all disks are readable.
    Cheers

  • When trying to burn a playlist to a blank CD, iTunes 10.3.1 won't recognize the blank CD I've inserted (Verbatim CD-R). I've burned using these CDs before, this is a recent problem. Not the burner, as I can burn using Toast. iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

What kind of CD are you burning (Audio or MP3)?
If you're burning an MP3 CD, the songs must already
    be in mp3 format.
If not, iTunes will tell you that you have no songs
    in the playlist.
    M
I was making an audio cd. But I have since found out what the problem was. The files in my PLAYLIST I converted to aiff, since they were SDll files (I thought they were similar to AIFF, and they PLAY on Itunes...just won't burn.) When I selected the songs in the playlist and converted them...I thought all those files were converted, They were not. The converted files went into my LIBRARY, even tho I selected the ones in the playlist...and once I exchanged the SDll versions of the songs in my playlist. THEN they burned fine...but still...it's confusing..you say convert..it says it's been converted..and what they don't say is it's not been converted inside the playlist...where I had selected the songs...It just ADDED aiff versions..but only in the library...Anyway, that's what happened. But it's strange that it PLAYS SDll but won't burn them....and you'd think, logically..the ones you selected would change...but they don't. Playlists are mainly pointers to the actual files I guess...a sort of Alias..
At least it works now. But it's sad that the latest itunes does more, but also does LESS...as I used to be able to burn SDll files. Now I'll have to convert all my files to AIFF, and mp3's as I assume my ipod video won't play anything but mp3's?

I am very frustrated. I have used IDVD many times. I have a 90 minute video and a 4 minute video on IDVD. It plays fine during a preview. However when I go to burn OR create an image. After it finishes rendering the audio it says something like error unable to complete burning process. It never even starts the burning process. I need to burn this ASAP. It is a wedding that I worked on. I have tried re-doing the IDVD authoring. I have moved my chapter markers.. I am out of ideas and I need help. Any ideas? The confuing part is I get the same message when I try to create a disc image.... Please help me!!!

    Hi Helena
To get a good answer You should start Your own topic. So that all can see.
To find out if You can make it in time You need to support more info:
    - What Mac and speed 600MHz - 2,7 GHz ???
    - What OS - OS X.3.9 or X.4.2
    - What QuickTime 6.5.2 or 7.0.2
    - What iMovie 5.0.2 or 4 or 3 or 2 ??
    - How much free space on Your hard disk ? (>20Gb is good)
If You have a dxG5 2GHz and have stayed with OS X.3.9 and QT 6.5.2 and
    iMovie 5.0.2 then do this.
(I would repair preferenses first with Apple disk util tool)
    Close iMovie
Start a New iDVD-project and chose a theme.
Locate Your movie project icon ("My fantastic movie" - or what ever)
Ctrl-Click on this - select "Show package"
in this there is a folder - Share movie
in this there is a folder - iDVD
in this a QT ref movie is located
Take this "nnnnn.mov" file and drop it just inside the edge of the
theme window You chosen in iDVD
Now fix title and so on as You like it and goto FILE and select
make a disk image on the desktop so You can test it with Apple DVD-player
or if You will chance - burn a fresh DVD.
    Good luck !
    Yours Bengt W

  • Failure to complete burning of cd sometimes

is my failing to burn a cd sometimes related to the limit amount,if so how can i check how many times a song has been burnt,as the other night before wasting one of my lightscribe cds, i ran a test which burnt fine but my next two stalled on the second and first songs,i know its not cd related, and im getting sick of wasting expensive hard to get in outback Qld lightscribe cds

    deton8r wrote:

There is not a limit to how often you can burn a song. The limit you are thinking of is that a playlist containing one or more DRM "protected" tracks from the iTunes Store can only be burned 7 times.
Burning has been troublesome in the recent releases of iTunes, but here are some remedies:
Try redoing the burn at a lower speed, even 2x or 1x. In iTunes 8, when you click on "Burn Disc" you will see a dropdown for the "Preferred Speed."
If you have not upgraded your drivers in a while, do that; it requires going to the website of the manufacturer of your CD drive, which for Lightscribe would presumably be HP.
Finally, if you have another program on your computer that can burn CDs, such as Nero or Windows Media Player, this might be a good time to give it a whirl.

  • My iPhone 5 won't complete the sync with my PC...

my iPhone 5 won't complete the sync with my PC, says "waiting for items to copy (step 6 of 6)".  have left the PC and phone connected for up to 15 hours one time, and the status never changes.

I figure it out. Somehow, in my Advanced settings, password was somehow "de-selected" as my Authentication setting in Incoming Selections. I re-selected it, and now everything is back to normal...

  • Mobile account won't complete setup, initial sync won't complete.

I'm trying to setup a mobile account but it won't complete the sync process on the client MacBook Pro. Both the server and the MacBook Pro are running 10.5.5.
When I login to client it prompts me to create a Mobile account and proceeds with the sync to create the account, but when the sync is complete it just logs in with the default account setup. None of the user files or settings (desktop image, preferences, etc) appear. The sync process says "Checking..." for all the files that supposedly get copied to the client, but it looks like it doesn't complete.
Is there a way of knowing what the problem is? Is there an issue with the user's home directory, some file that prevents the sync and mobile home creation from completing?
    Thanks.

Forgot about getting this problem solved.
The user account that had this trouble had a copy of his home directory from a laptop in his home directory. This backup had it's own Library folder which was confusing the Mobile account sync process.
When I removed the backup home directory, the initial sync went fine.
