CD burner won't work in an almost-new Satellite

I got a new 17" Satellite this past May, not quite 4 months old.
It has a Matshuta (see P.S.) CD-RW/DVD-R drive.
The CD burn function of the drive has been problematic for the last few months, but this past week it won't burn at all. One burn software program, CDBurnerXP, won't even recognize it as a writeable drive. Windows Media Player tries to burn, but always errors out. (I've used two different brands of CD's, they're not the problem.)
By the way, the read function is just fine. I can install programs with it and play CDs.
I did not buy a warrantee, but it's just 4 months old. What are my options? Would it be cheaper for me to buy an external drive than to get the internal one fixed?

P.S. Funny, the name of the CD/DVD drive manufacturer is "Matshuta" with the U replaced by an I, but the board software keeps bleeping it out because of bad language. Ha!

My CD burner won't work

I have a new music CD I want to put on my iPod, but my CD stopped working. Is there a way to open iTunes on a different computer then put the songs in my iTunes library?
I am at the library now and brought the music CD and also a flash drive thinking I could put the songs on that then go home and put them in my iTunes library. I managed to save the songs on Real Player but don't know what to do next.
OR -- I even tried to install iTunes on this computer, but I cannot because it is a public computer. It does not have a burner either. Is there anyway to get the songs on this CD into iTunes without a CD burner? or CD drive?

Just remember that the usb drive is the location you're copying to and create the folder on it first. Then copy the music into the folder.
That done delete the music from Real Player.

CD burner won't work

I just upgraded to Tiger. The CD/DVD imports just fine on this G3 iBook. I successfully burned one CD. Now when i try to burn a CD it tries to initialize for a minute, then quits with the message, "The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media". Changing the burner settings does nothing. I am trying to use TDK 700mb 52x CD blanks.

I experienced the same problem with my external burner after upgrading to Tiger. I thought that the problem might be with the media, but had the same experience with 3 different CD-R brands. I then thought that since my external burner was almost 5 years old that maybe it was that, so I bought a DVD burner instead. This seemed to fix the laser power calibration problem, but has caused another one.
Now when I burn an audio CD to backup the music I downloaded from the music store the last 2 tracks get munged together and the last 10 seconds of the last song contain a loud warning sirenish kind of sound. This does not seem to happen when I burn an audio CD of music I imported from my CDs, but only when I try to burn songs that I purchased from the music store onto CD. Having gone through about 20 CDs trying to figure out what's causing it I'm not sure if it's the DVD burner, the current version of iTunes, or the encoding on songs from the music store. Interestingly enough if I burn a CD of music I downloaded last year from the music store I don't have this problem. I'm at a loss

Satellite P100-403: DVD burning won't work

I have tried working out the DVD problem from the help menu, no luck, tried the Toshiba online help, but not much use as it turns out to be a user forum, where people help one another.
Couldn't even find a box to ask a question. Pass work is metalicg
"P2" - Right click - properties for "format" only works if you enable C.D burning and DLA is ticked.
If you do this it says "by enabling C.D. recording function, you cannot right to DVD RAM
I have tried DVD R & DVD RAME TYPE II Rewriteable, neither will format.
I have some software that states what this machine should be able to do and it and the using DVD discs help menu says I should be able to format and record on them.
Can anyone please advise why I can only write to C.D or how to write to DVD?

If you want to burn a DVD then you should use an 3rd party burning allocation like Nero.
Nero contains the option to format the rewritable medias like CD RW.

This is right and not a problem or an bug. If the own windows burning function is enabled in the CD/DVD drive properties you will be not able to burn the RAM medias!!!
As I said. Use an 3rd party software to burn files on DVD.

Photoshop cc won't work. Crashes almost immediately.

I have the student version of Creative Cloud. Adobe Illustrator works fine. After I bring a photo into Photoshop CC, as soon as I do anything to it , the program stops working and closes. I own Photoshop CS6, and have never had a problem like this.

It crashes.I am using windows 7. The message says :Adobe Photoshop CC has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Old name and password won't work when networking to new Win7PC.

I have a name/password problem when trying to network a new Win 7 PC via a new Netgear 2200 Router to a MacMini.
It networked 100% OK with the old XP System and old Netgear Router, but now when I click on the PC icon that shows up in Workgroup the old password doesn't work and there is a different popup menu that won't allow the old name and password.
Interestingly the Mac Mini still networks with the XP laptop using the old pupup box with name and password.
Netgear say it's not their problem - even though they list 'mac compatible' on their box.
The PC manufacturer (Acer) say Mac issues are outside of their free technical support.
Apple support said the Macmini was 'out of warranty'.
So I'm stuck using a USB stick or email to transfer files from one to the other!
Please help, I need that network connectivity back asap.

Option 1
If you've enabled root logins, log in as root and promote the other user to an admin.
Option 2
Recover your entire system from the last Time Machine snapshot taken before the damage was done, if you know when that was. Afterwards you can restore any data that has changed since then from a later snapshot. If you’re an advanced user familiar with the shell, there may be a quicker fix, but I prefer not to get into that.
Option 3
Back up all data, then boot in single-user mode (command-S at startup.) When the text stops scrolling, follow the prompts to make the boot volume writable. Then enter the following command very carefully:
rm -i /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
You should get the following line of output below what you entered:
remove /var/db/.AppleSetupDone?
If you do, then enter
y
and press return. Then type
reboot
Press return again. The system will boot into the Setup Assistant, as if you were setting it up for the first time. Skip the prompt to transfer information. Create a user with the same name as the old admin user. Log in and test. You may need to recreate your other user accounts, if any. Their files won't be deleted.
Option 4
If you're not comfortable with any of the above options, get someone more experienced to help you. One way to do that is to make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. It's a free service.

Lightbox won't work - opens in a new page or not at all

Okay, so I am trying to get a lightbox to work for my ICT coursework (for an eportfolio) that is due in on the 26th April 2013. I have spent hours on this and have gotten nowhere and now I've resorted to asking you bright people to help ;_;
So I found this beautiful portfolio website and decided to have a go at replicating it for my coursework (since everyone in the class was using premade templates, I wanted to do something different). Here is my eBook (as an example as it hasn't and won't go live).

At the bottom I wanted to have 4 pictures side by side (one is in there already) and I have these inserted in div tags (?). Here is the code for it:

Now, when I put this into my initial page, it doesn't work. It just opens up the image in a new tab. However, when I copy and paste this code into a new template, it works just fine (I mean, the lightbox shows up but the images do not because I haven't linked them in to that specific page).
All of my images are in my site root, but I can't figure out what the problem is. Here is my entire code for that particular page:

Are you working within a defined Local Site folder in DW? Without this critical step, DW cannot properly manage assets and links for you.
You have an image called "Old Working Styles large.png" which contains spaces. Don't use spaces in folder or filenames. You may use underscores_ or hyphens- between words but not spaces.
Change it to this: "Old-Working-Styles-large.png" or this: "Old_Working_Styles_large.png"

Ipod touch won't work after installing a new app.

Hi!
Last night, I decided to install a new "Alarm clock," app and test it out by setting it to ring a minute later- what a BIG mistake, because during the time it was supposed to ring, it made my Ipod touch completely crash instead. For the past few hours all it's been doing is flashing back and forth between my homelock screen (with the "slide to unlock," bar at the bottom) and the Apple logo, with the round 'processing' image infront of it.
I have tried many different things to get it out of this funk but nothing has worked! I tried resetting the Ipod by holding down the menu and power button, the screen went black temporarily, didn't show the "slide to power off" bar and then just reloaded with the same two flashing images. I tried restoring it, but it wouldn't restore, until I did a special reboot that I read about via online boards- where you have to hold the power + menu buttons for 10 seconds, then release the power button whilst holding just the menu button for 10 seconds- but, whilst the Ipod did go through the whole restoring process thereafter, it didn't manage to sync up.
Now, not only does my ipod STILL flash back and forth between those two images. I keep getting an error message of (0xE80000001)! I used a different cable to try and sync up, but the blasted thing still won't stop flashing back and forth between those two images, and the ipod is not being recognised by itunes so the ipod keeps beeping, in and out of itunes and won't sync!
My ipod isn't 'jailbroken,' I haven't touched it's software or altered it in any way, to how it was sold to me. I would've liked to have brought it back the the Apple store to be looked at, but I don't think they'll help me because the top left hand corner of my Ipod is completely missing after my niece dropped it a few months ago- the Ipod still worked (up until I installed the **** alarm app) perfectly well until now!
Also, I have a mac, so any tips on how to access/help/fix this problem would have to have instructions for a Mac OS not Windows please!

My Creative player won't work on my somewhat new Gateway

I bought a brand new all in one gateway in Jan and my Creative player has never worked on it. It wasn't too big a deal because it worked great with my laptop but now my laptop is dying. The gateway won't recognize it. Both the gateway and laptop are running Windows 7. is anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advance.

ISight Camera Won't Work stuck on since new update

I just did the recent update to Skype 7.7 and now after a video call the camera stays on but will not work in any other application. I found a solution to get it to work for one more call i have to shut down and unplug the computer wait 15 sec. then restart. Why is this happening is there another update to fix this issue? can i get the old version back? I'm on an iMac OS X 10.9.5 this have never been a problem before just since i did the update

Stumped! Migration Assistant won't work - need to setup new mac asap!

OK, I've been trying to transfer files from my iMac to my Macbook for three days - no luck.
I did a wipe and install on the macbook first. But then Migration Assistant wouldn't work b/c it said the machine i was transferring do had an older OS than the iMac. SO, I reinstalled Leopard on the iMac - but now All my files are in the "Previous Systems" Folder - so when I try to use Migration Assistant - it calculates my transfer files at 0 KB.
Same thing happens when I try it from my latest Time Machine Back up.
I've tried migration assistant with firewire, ethernet and Time Machine. etc, but no luck.
Now, I'm just copying all my files over - but I NEED to have all my mail msgs and applications transferred!
Any suggestions I feel like I've tried everything - I've read many many articles here but I'm getting frustrated and tired.

What version of OSX is that backup?
And what version is on your MacBook?
It sounds like the iMac and/or backups are on Snow Leopard, and the MacBook is on Leopard. If so, you can't transfer from a newer "major" version of OSX to an older one (but you can transfer from, say, 10.6.6 to 10.6.4, although some Apple apps may not be happy with older versions of their data files).
If the backups are Snow Leopard, update the MacBook to Snow Leopard and do the transfer from the backups, either via +Setup Assistant+ or +Migration Assistant.+ See [Setting up a new Mac from an old one or its backups|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Snow Leopard > Installation and Setup+ forum).
The other article is for transferring from a PPC Mac to Leopard or early versions of Snow Leopard.

Internet won't work after getting a new modem

Am living in Malaysia with my MAC OS X (version 10.68). Our provider just replaced our modem because we had internet access issues. This solved the problem for about a day and now we can't access the internet. It seems that the network configuration has changed and although we enter the new password assigned we are we can't access.
We have tried 'restarting the device', as was suggested. We restarted the modem, then later tried, resetting the router, doing both of those at the same time, and eventually restarting the computer.
Any suggestions?

What kind of modem is it (DSL, Cable, or what?). Does it connect directly to the computer or to a router? Does the modem have a built in router? wifi? Take a moment and write up a few details about your home network.

Infinity blade II won't work

After loading iso 6.0 infinity blade 2 won't work.

Mine does. New update to ib2 is ios6. I would delete the game and reinstall it. If you have icloud on you will not loose game progress. Ib2 data files are stored on icloud. You can double check that by going into icloud on iPad settings, storage and backup, manage storage. You will see ib2 saved game files.

At this point it's clear that it's been damaged and will need to be take or sent to Apple for replacement.

TS1277 after installing itunes, my computer won't recognize my cdrom/burner any longer. Worked ok before and I have uninstalled itunes and it works again and when I reinstall itunes it won't work again. I have also went into registry files and deleted

After installing itunes, my desktop computer doesn't recognize my internal cd rom/burner. I removed itunes and it works ok and when I reinstall itunes it won't work again. I went into the windows registry files and deleted the lower filter which is one correction for this and it worked ok until the next itunes upgrade and now it won't work again. If anyone knows what to do please let me know. My device manager shows a code "10"

That suggests an AFS.sys issue. But we'd better doublecheck.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". (If you're running iTunes 11.0.x you'll need to bring up your menu bar first to see the Help menu.) Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)
