CD Burning Error 1951 (Can't burn MP3 cd's)

Please help. I've been burning MP3 cd's for over a year now, and never had a problem. However, suddenly I get Error Message #1951. I have no idea what is causing this problem. Help! Please.

B Noir - thanks so much for the offer to help. Very nice of you. I was starting to worry this was just a place where people post questions and don't get answers/help. I'm glad to be wrong. As such, here's what I got from running a CD/DVD diagnostic...

How to burn DVD and can i burn the same DVD later if its having any space..?

This is called sessions, but it is not recommended and has been largely abandoned by software developers. This was a good thing in the late 1990’s, when opticals discs were quite expensive, and file size quite low.
applications which reportedly may do this are
    - isoBurn: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/40109/isoburn
    - others, I do not remember which ones, try SimpyBurns, Burn, Dragon Burn and LiquidCD, you will find all in macupdate.com, test which ones suit you.
Otherwise, I do not recommend you such time consuming and inefficient solutions, optical drives are being replaces by more capacitive, cheaper and more practical solutions, like external disks. But, if you insist, you will find what you are looking for.

  • Burned CD yesterday, can not burn today.  Error 4280 - Windows Vista

Yesterday, I bought a number of tracks and albums from the iTunes store. Before I purchased them, I created a test CD with some tracks I already ripped from CDs I own. I burned this CD through iTunes. All seemed well.
I bought my music. After, I also backed up my purchases using iTunes. Still, all seemed well.
Today, I tried to create audio CD with the tracks I purchased from the iTunes store. It did not work.
It seems that the error (4280) comes up a lot, but in relation to Sony drives. My drive is not made by Sony.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

  • Error 2131: can't burn CDs

I recently acquired an iShuffle and started using iTunes 9, which I haven't used before. I'm trying to burn an Audio CD but, after introducing a virgin CD (which the program do recognizes) and as soon as the burning process begin my computer opens the CD tray and shows the message "Burn process failed. Unexpected error (2131)" (actual text in English may be different since I'm using the spanish version).
Is there some sort of patch I can download? I found a thread about this error but centered on Dell models, although a poster commented that some Toshiba models show this error precisely. However, the thread is rather old and already closed. Is there any help available now?

I'm using Toast Lite to burn cds but not since this error. Maybe it's worth going through Mac Tech Support. Either that or upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.5, after adding memory, because then I could burn without Toast, so I've heard...
I'm not really very knowledgeable as you might guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does the error code indicate whether the problem is hardware or software?
Burning is intermittent. Last week I could burn with iTunes but not with Toast. This week the reverse but right now not at all. The console says: power calibration area error. I'm not using highspeed cds. When there is a choice - with Toast- 4x has always worked, until now. I've run scan disk for 10 also let the computer defragment overnight. Should I run the Apple Hardware Test (in OS9)?

I have downloaded latest firmware, updated drivers, re installed IDE/ATA, Reinstalled iTunes, Re installed CD burner, tried every burn speed from fastest down to 1x, Turned off spam & spyware, turned off firewall, turned off virus prtection made, Made sure IMAP CD settings are set to automatic and started.
Nothing works. I'm at my wits end and getting very frustrated because I have hundreds of dollars of purchased music that is now stuck on my computer and won't burn.

I don't understand, we buy this music for a buck a piece, and then when you want to make an mp3 cd to play in your car, like i have( i can make one cd with 150 songs)or what ever , we can't even do that. I also have an ipod but i don't bring it into my car all the time. I thought that because we are buying the music and technically we own them, that we can use the music which ever way that you want. And now we have to buy a converter if we want to make mp3 cd's. I have resorted to spending my money on cd's to make cd's of my protected files, just to rip them back on my computer again as an mp3 song, remove the protected songs, and all this to do what i thought we could do with our purchases music because, oh i don't know, call me crazy, we were able to before!!! All i now see is that we have to spend money to get our music to spend money to change our music to use it the way we want to, to spend our money to make our own cd's. The operative words, spending our money. Does anyone find this absolutely rediculous? Anyone ever hear the phrase "Don't fix it if it ain't broke"? Anyone else frustrated?

  • HT2718 How do I fix a burn error/ the attemp to burn a disc failed because of a medium write error

How can this error be fixed

Could be for a variety of reasons, including:
    1. You Superdrive needs a clean
    2. Poor quality media - most of us recommend Verbatim DVD-R, and a slow burn speed of 2x or 4x.

  • Burn error 4280-help toonz? anyone?

I'm getting so fed up with iTunes! I can't get any music onto cds. I am not buying any more from iTunes....but the problem is I still need to get the stuff I've purchased onto a cd...
I cleared up the old 2122 problem by getting a whole new burner....went from an APOEN to a LITE-ON....
now I've got ANOTHER burn failure....this is absolutely ridiculous..it can't all be me can it?
so...I've been getting the burn error 4280 on all burns...no exceptions. And yes, I've followed what everyone has been saying about updating drivers, BIOS etc...I've used different brands of media and it's DMA over PIo

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300448-Heres a start.
This happens on certain PC's. I dont know if you care to know the ins and outs of why this sometimes happens, but here is why and how to fix it. an application (such as Roxio, Nero, iTunes, etc.) is installing a driver file (as a .SYS) or replacing a working driver file that is referenced within your registry. For some folks, the replaced driver is still referenced by either an UpperFilterCheck or a LowerFilterCheck, and the device manager is actually seeking out that file that, well... no longer exists. Or, when you try and uninstall the application (iTunes is the frequent transgressor) everything is removed, including the related driver files, but the registry isn't altered... so the device manager continues to try and locate that driver file... which no longer exists.
the thing to do to reclaim your optical drives is located in your registry here:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}
You'll want to have that open, and a mini-window of the following:
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> Hardware (tab) -> DEVICE MANAGER -> Offending Drive (with yellow tag by it) Right-Mouse-Click and PROPERTIES -> Driver (tab) -> DRIVER DETAILS
Notice that list. It references all the drivers that that particular drive is utilizing. There should be a single .DLL (dynamic link library) file and multiple .SYS files. It's the .SYS files we're focusing on, and they should be located in your C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ folder stem. If you want to open a new window explorer, and go verify that each of those driver files still exists in that folder stem, you may.
At this point, compare the Driver File Detail list with the Registry Tree Location you're sitting in, and look at the UpperFilterCheck and LowerFilterCheck key values. Your offending key value will NOT be on your Driver File Detail list!!! It might be as small as "PFC" or something else, but that value is referencing to a driver file that no longer exists. Delete that offending key value. Close the registry.
Close the Driver File Details and Drive Properties windows. At this point, to finish this up, you need to Soft Uninstall (Right-mouse-click on the drive, and hit "Uninstall" ) the drive(s), let the Device Manager refresh... then hit ACTION -> Scan For Hardware Changes ...
This should start a new Found New Hardware cycle, and.... poof!... your drives should be back to normal.
Let me know how it goes.
    Good Luck,
    Rachyl

  • Can't Burn Blu-Ray

I recently filmed a wedding, edited in Premiere CS5, and encoded to  MPEG-Blu-Ray (.m2v files). I created a project in Encore CS5 and clicked  Build when I was ready. After it built the menus, it tried to begin the  burn. However, before it began, I received a "Blue-ray Error device not  ready Code 3 note AS storage error -97060" message. There is hardly  anything online about this. I have a Pioneer BDR-206 12x burner, and am  using Verbatim 25GB BD-R discs. I also tried some Optical Quantum 25GB  4x discs, with the same error. I then updated the firmware of the  burner. The project is only 14GB. I've heard that having long file names  can sometimes mess things up, but all mine are less than 10 characters.  I also tried building a blu-ray folder, and burning that in Nero 10,  but still got the same results. My guess is that it's the burner, but I  can successfully burn DVDs with it. I've also used the same verbatim  discs successfully. I can't even do a disk error check in windows,  because of a non-descriptive error. I wish there were more on this error  in the manual. Any feedback would be appreciated!

As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator, which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account, and which fixes several "odd" problems
To create a dual layer DVD (or BluRay?), you MUST have Encore set to use the Run as Administrator option

  • I get and error when trying to burn a audio CD

I am tring to burn an audio cd of something I created in Final cut pro x and when I put the files in itunes and select burn to disc it spits out the disc and says "unknown error occured (-50)".  I tried using .wav and .aiff no luck with either.  I already searched the forum for this problem and didn't find any thing that worked.
    Vince

    Tried restarting your computer?
Error -50 is a generic "communications" error message which means just about anything.  It could really be a communication error with  your optical drive (loose cable, bad drive, bad controller, etc.), or an issue with your hard drive (connection, formatting, a whole list of anything else you can imagine).  It could also be a host of non-obvious communications.
The place to start is to keep things as simple as possible and try to test individual links in the burning process.  Can you burn outside of iTunes?  Have you tried a slower burn speed?  (Some utilities let you turn off the laser while test burning so you don't use up a lot of discs.)
