CD burning error - error code OX8002006D

Hi
I've just updated my G4 iMac to Tiger (a little late I know) and ever since I been getting an error when trying to burn CD's. The error code is OX8002006D and I rekon I get this code for 4 out of 5 attempts to burn a disc. I've run disc utility from the start up disc and it seems to have made no difference. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Steve

Just a note of interest.
You don't mention the brand of CD and DVD's you use.
Remember there is a huge difference in the Media you buy and choose.
There is also a big difference in the Software you use to burn with.
There are several schools of thought on th entire subject of burning period.
Apple burners are historiclly very picky, and do not like CHEAP Media.
Here is a good guide to use, it is for DVD but I would use like brands with CD's
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
As I mentioned above the software you use can and does have an affect on your success.

As well as the burning assist link above using Apple Software, don't forget, Roxio's Toast 8 is considered the easiest and best for Mac users

  • OSX DVD/CD Burner Error Code - HELP!

Hey everyone. I hope someone might be able to help me out with a problem I am having.
I just purchased a Plextor DVD/CD burner, and every time I put a blank in it, it gives me an error code (0x80020025). I thought it just might be my burner, but I tried to burn a disc with my buddy's Lacie, and had the same issue. The drive reads all discs fine, it just won't let me set it up to burn one.
Can anyone help, please?! Thank you all so much.

The drive is an external drive. It is a Plextor PX-740UF. I am running it with USB. Just to let you know, I had the same issue with my buddy's Lacie drive when I plugged it in.
The drive recognizes everything BUT unburned discs. When I put one in and I try to open it in Finder, or in iTunes, it gives me that error code.
I have also tried to do the force quit from Finder, and then re-launching, but this doesn't help either.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Possible Fix Failed Burn Error Codes 4000-4850

Under preferences change the burn speed, you might have to try each speed to get one compatible with your computer. I own a Sony Vaio and a Gateway notebook and it seems 20x works for both.

This kinda worked on my computer. I've got a Gateway Tablet PC and I had to knock the speed down to 12x before I could get the burner to work. 16x might work too, but I didn't try it. I'd already wasted tons of disks....

  • Error Code when trying to burn from a burn folder

    Hey everyone,
I am trying to clean up some space on my powerbook G4 (not that I need to) but I like to keep things tidy. I was trying to burn some files onto a CD, it recognized the blank CD, displayed it in my finder as well as the burn icon, I had all the files set up, I hit burn, went to the speed selector, and then when I hit ok an error message popped up saying could not burn "Error Code 0x80020000). Any clue as to why that is? This is the first time I have had a problem burning files, both music and data have worked before.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi, Joshua.
I presume you are using the internal optical drive that shipped from the factory with your PowerBook G4.
    1. You wrote: "I am trying to clean up some space on my powerbook G4 (not that I need to) but I like to keep things tidy."Be careful not to "tidy up" anything outside of your Home folder or the Macintosh HD > Users > Shared folder. Your Home > Library folder is another folder that should not be altered unnecessarily.
"Tidying" System files can render your Mac inoperable unless you either:
    • Have a deep understanding of Mac OS X and the files in question.
    • Are instructed to remove such a file by someone with such understanding.
    2. You wrote: "Error Code 0x80020000)"This is an "Internal Disc Recording" error.
You may have selected too high a speed for the optical media or the optical drive, have bad media, or be using optical media that your optical drive cannot see correctly. Some new, high-speed media use dyes that are problematic with older Mac optical drives. See Macintosh: Factors That Affect Writing to or Reading From Optical Media. If you've not used this brand of media before, try a brand and speed of media that has worked in the past.
    Good luck!

  • Error code -3 when trying to burn a cd

I am haveing a problem burning CDs from my playlist. I had to burn one disk 2 times and both times, I had an error that my preffered CD burner is unavailable (the internal one) and then it would burn the disc, but it would have the first song recorded blank/muted. When I try to use an external CD burner, I get error code (-3). Does anyone know what this means and how can I fix it?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem with Dell Vostro 1000. My problem was with TSScorp DVD+RW TS-L632H drive. I applied new firmware that lilmaqi posted the link to and it worked. Make sure you follow the instruction on how to apply the firmware fix.

  • I keep getting error code 4450 when I'm trying to burn a CD from itunes.  It keeps my CD and won't eject it and says "cancelling burn" forever then itunes locks up and my cd is ruined and NO songs on it.

i can't burn cd's in iTunes anymore. I get error code 4450 when I'm trying to burn a playlist. Songs from my own cd's, or bought in iTunes (have not burned 7x's as I can't BURN any cd's at all!),  Then my cd gets stuck in the drive. and it says "cancelling burn" forever and then itunes freezes up. I have a Dell with Windows 7.
-I've slowed down the burn as slow as it can go
-I have bought 3 different brands of cd's
-i have the latest version of iTunes.
    Can someone help me?

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

  • Error Code -43 : unable to burn a CD in Jaguar 10.2.8

Hello everyone - good to be here. I hope someone can help me.
I'm trying to back up a folder (contains JPEG images) on to a CD-RW (or CD-R).
I recently upgraded from OSX 10.1 to 10.2 (and then to 10.2.8 via the online update) without any problems. About 6 weeks ago, I burned a similar folder to CD when I was still on OSX 10.1 and that was fine - the CD image appeared on the desktop, I prepared it, dragged the folder over, and it burned and self-verified.
Now this is my first attempt at burning a CD via OSX 10.2: no CD appeared on the Desktop, although the Finder preferences indicate that it should(?), and a box appeared saying 'You inserted a blank CD...choose from the pop-up menu (Open Finder/iTunes/Disk Copy)'. I believe this message is new to OSX 10.2 but quite normal?
The trouble is, I'm not sure where to go from there, because when I opt for 'Open Finder', the message disappears, the CD ejects, and an error message appears:
"The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -43)"
I've tried searching these discussions threads for that error code, and CD burning issues, but nothing precisely relevant is turning up. (A Google search says that code -43 means something like 'File or Folder not found', but I don't know how accurate or up-to-date that is, or what it could signify.)
The drive still reads and plays my existing CDs without any problems.
My 600MHz G3 Power PC iMac has 384Mb memory, and when I open the MacHD icon, the status bar says 31.14Gb available.
I'd quite like to get to the root of this, because my new job is going to involve having to back-up a lot of written work at regular intervals.
Sorry if this query is a bit dull, and my operating system (and computer knowledge!) is behind the times, but I would be very grateful for any help.
    Thank you.

    iMac PowerPC G3 600 MHz   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Hi, I'm back as promised. [sound of collective groaning]
The good news is that, because the CD-R icon had started to reappear on the desktop, I tried to burn a file and (with one exception - see later) the CD burned fine. I then Repaired Permissions as advised; quite a few items appeared on the list of repairs, but it completed successfully. However, it didn't solve the problem of the CD-RW icon not appearing and it still produces the Error Message 'Error Code -43'. However, I'm slightly less worried now, because I've managed to backup to a CD-R and hopefully that'll continue to work.
Thank you for your advice on the above - maybe it's a media problem after all.
But just out of interest: There were three other irritating problems, two of which I've had for a while, and which are still there after Repairing Permissions, and one that's come to light since I burned the CD-R. The first two I didn't mention before because they're unimportant compared to the potential failure to back-up to CD, but I'll mention these now in case there's a really obvious solution, and they may shed some light on the original problem:
    1. When I access youtube.com (or any forum/messageboard that has a YouTube video embedded), I get an alert box showing an exclamation point and the message 'Javascript Application [Type Function]' (or 'IE Script Alert [type function]' depending on the browser) and underneath that
two windows saying '404 Not Found'. When I close those and select a YouTube clip, I get the message that I've either got Javascript switched off (I haven't!) or I have an outdated Flash version. Well, I've got Flash OSX version 9, but when I remount it, first it appears to think I've got an Intel Mac not a PowerPC, but when I override that it installs almost fully before producing the Flash messages 'Error Creating File 1008:5; - 5000 Access denied error' and 'You do not have enough access privileges for this installation'.
    2. All my folders have started opening in new windows, rather than superseding each other as they used to. I've no idea why, because my Finder Preferences doesn't have that box checked at all.
    3a. When I Trash an item, it doesn't go to rest in the Trash, instead it produces a message saying the item will be immediately deleted, do I want to continue? I'm not sure why this is happening now, it never did before;
3b. I wanted to Trash an individual JPEG image but I got a message saying 'The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for [JPEG name]'. No other JPEG images are affected by this.
As I say, the above 3 problems I can live with if they can't be solved (though I do miss YouTube!), but I just wondered if they might ring a bell with anyone in the light of my original unsolved problem. I suspect my iMac may be going a little mad in its old age.
Thanks again, and sorry to take up more of your time.
