CD burnt on 1 PC appear as Chinese text on another

I burnt CDs from individual iTunes playlists on one PC. The CD titles displayed as normal.
But when I play those CDs on another PC with iTunes, the name, artist and album changed to Chinese text and the genre changed to World.
When I play them in the original PC, the display correctly.
When I play them on my iMac, it simply displays "Audio CD" and "Track 01".
The CDs play fine on both PCs and the iMac, it is just the text on one PC that is Chinese.
Are there any settings I can change?

You can't use your iPhone to transfer music from one computer to another - at least not without a third-party application such as Phone to Mac.  Alternatively, if your PC and Mac are on the same network you can handle this in one of two ways.  If you want to copy the music to each PC or Mac, share the folder on your PC where your music is, connect to the shared folder from your Mac, check the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" box in iTunes Preferences->Advanced, and then use the "Add to Library..." option in the iTunes File menu to copy over all the music files.  If you don't want to have separate copies on every PC/Mac you can put all your music files into a single folder shared over the network (either on a computer you leave on all the time, or on a network drive), turn off "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and then "Add to Library..."

Have you tried doing it through a GUI? :-)
Fire up the Gnome File Manager under start (the coffee cup),Places and then find the file and trash or delete it.
Something a bit more onerous would be to copy all of the files except for the offending file someplace else and then go up to the parent directory and just do an rm -r sub-directory.

  • ITunes in iPad has started appearing in Chinese--how to fix back?

My husband opened his iTunes on his iPad 2 (with iOS8) tonight and it appears in Chinese. It first appeared in Chinese with only the iTunes U logo at the bottom and none of the other choices. He did a hard restart and now iTunes comes up as it should now, but all in Chinese. It has never done this before. We are in Beijing and just using our wifi without VPN on, the iTunes has always come up in English on our devices, although purchasing isn't allowed on some items, like music. With VPN set to the U.S., it has been working fine. Until tonight. He first got an error when calling up iTunes Radio with the VPN set to U.S. It said it was unavailable. He later went in to call up iTunes and it came up in Chinese. Even after restarting the iPad. Any ideas? It's still coming up in Chinese with the VPN working on a U.S. server. My iPad4 is working fine with iOS8 and iTunes comes up as it should in English even with my location as Beijing (my VPN service won't work on my iPad in China, only my laptop). Other than putting it back to factory settings, I'm not sure how to fix it.

I am not fully understanding the problem here.  Are you seeing anything when you open iTunes, yes or no?  Some people say they have a custom media file location but they really mean they have a custom library location and there is a big difference.  You can set cutom media location in iTunes preferences but don't do that unless you are certain that is what you want/need.  If you have lost connection to your library it won't help and it will make more a mess of things.  It may help if you learn a bit on how iTunes works and maybe you can figure out yourself what you need:
What are the iTunes library files? - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
More on iTunes library files and what they do - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes#Media_management
What are all those iTunes files? - http://www.macworld.com/article/139974/2009/04/itunes_files.html
Where are my iTunes files located? - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
What's all this about a .photolibrary???  I have never heard of that in connection with iTunes.

Please check with your basis that your output device support print Chinese character. Or, you can search more in forum, there are a lot of threads about print Chinese and other Unicode characters in form.

  • How to display/input/write Chinese Text in java

    Dear All,
I am trying to make a very simple java program, where I am trying to display Chinese characters. I am trying to save them into a file (for now, later into db2). However, I seem to make no progress at all.
I am completely lost with this one. I have googled and gone through a lot of sites like :
    http://www.mandarintools.com/javaconverter.html
    http://www.chinesecomputing.com/programming/java.html
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=442220&messageID=1995079
    http://www.linuxforum.net/chinese/develop/java.html
I have downloaded the cyberbit.ttf into /jre/lib/fonts and updated the fonts.properties also.
I have tried to compile with two different encoding options big5 and gb2132 as well.
I have also tried to pick up a few unicodes from a site and tried .. for ex.
String s = "\U+0061";but this results in Illegale Escape Char. exception.
All I am trying to do is use a String reference, feed it with Chinese text, which again I copied from a site, and then display it on the console. Or even write it to a file.
I am lost in the maze of Unicode, UTF -8 etc.
I would be really glad if someone could lead me out of this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgds,

    Hi,
So I tried to actually start working on the web app where this change is intended.
I copied a chinese String from a website (pasted it in Word, and it pasted fine).
Pasted it in the text box and saved this field. The value appears gibberish in db2 ( I am sure the tables arent specified for UTF-8).
My app doesnt use any contentType or characterEncoding either.
Then when I retrieve this value, it comes as exact same gibberish as in DB.
But, behold, when I change the encoding (view -> encoding -> chinese (GB2312)) It displays the exact String that was inserted :-)
Then I add these lines in my Jsp.
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=GB2312" %>
    request.setCharacterEncoding("GB2312"); .
so that I can make that chinese GB2312 as the default option. It does that. (The default was Western European (ISO).
However now, it displays question marks (????) in that field.
What options can I have ?
    TIA

  • Chinese Text

I'm having trouble pasting chinese text from an Microsoft Excel document.  How do I make the chinese characters appear in the InDesign document?
    Excel:
    InDesign:
    Best,
    Daniel

Bob's suggestion will (likely ) work because copying and pasting doesn't preserve the original font, and placing (InDesign's lingo for what everyone calls "importing") does.
This actually happens because the font you have selected in InDesign doesn't contain any Chinese characters, so you can also solve it by applying a font that does.

Perhaps setting the font smoothing to true in about:config would improve the appearance of the font?

I have this identical problem.  For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad.  Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something.  Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads.  I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time)  Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc.  There still hasn't been a solution.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Chinese text in Indesign CS3

    Hi,
I have a computer (WXPSP3 EN) with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 (incl. InDesign) installed. Now the user has a problem with Chinese text, he never used before. He got a Word file with the translation English => Chinese and copied the text from Word to InDesing :-)
The text is not displayed. It seems that there is a font missing, is this possible? Do I need a special InDesign font for Chinese text? If yes, which one? A link would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm using chinese text, too, for the chinese version of the german/english user guides I'm creating.
For me it never was a problem. You probably need to know this:
    1. In general, you need to install support for CJK (chinese, japanese, korean) language on Windows
(Word may display the text without the support installed because it can embed fonts into .doc files)
    2. If you then copy text from Word to Indesign, it should be displayed correctly, whereas Indesign manages a list of substitution fonts for this situation
If 2. does not work, you could try to replace the font in Word first by, for example, SimSun (of the chinese Windows fonts). Of course only if simplified chinese is used.
Then copy and paste should. At least it does for me in CS2 and CS4.

  • Attachments appearing as inline text

Certain attachments that I receive in Mail appear as inline text. This makes it impossible to save the attachment and open it in another program.
The most aggravating is .cpp files. These contents of these attached files all appear as inline text, one after another. If I want to work with these files, I have to figure out where the division between files is, copy and paste everything before that division into a new file, and fix the formatting line-by-line. How frustrating.
Please help me stop this behavior, or at least tell me a way to ALSO save the files, or something. Otherwise I'll have to change email clients, and I've gotten so used to Mail.

    Clayton,
What computer and email client is the sender using to send these to you? I am guessing they are being sent in a message with Rich Text Format, or HTML and becoming "involved"? Some servers might even cause this, especially if SPAM filtering is in force.
Is the last header about attachments? Is there a black triangle beside this final header, and are there Save and Slideshow buttons?
    More info, please.

My iMessage does not appear to be working. Every time I go to reply to an existing message it just appears as normal text. I have tried to create a new message but it still just defaults to normal messages. I have checked my settings but it is all set up as it should be. Is there anything I've missed or could try? Thanks

    Try the following:
In Finder, select the problematic volume and then press command-I.
Expand the Sharing & permissions section if it's collapsed.
If the section is locked, then unlock it by pressing the padlock button and then authenticating as directed.
Tick/check Ignore ownership on this volume.
