CD can be read for 2 minutes, then fails

I've had my iBook G4 for about 2 and a half years now and have had no problems with it until now.
Recently, i was importing a CD into iTunes and it stopped importing halfway through a song and caused iTunes to freeze. I used Force Quit and ejected the disc, then re-inserted it and continued importing without any problems.
However tonight I imported one CD from an album and then tried to import the music from the 2nd disc of the same album only to find it stopping 2 tracks in. I tried again and it stopped after another 2 tracks.
So i've tried another music CD and this time i tried playing the music from the CD itself. It worked fine for about 2 minutes, then it stopped playing and i had to Force Quit iTunes again.
When the disc stops being read it begins to make sounds like the sounds heard when the disc is being sped up, only they go on and on and on! If i can resolve this within the OS i'd love to know how. If not, what steps would I now need to take to get this problem sorted?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the CD drive is failing. "Importing" is the most intensive task for the burner. It's usually used by Tech's to determine if the CD drive has problems. I had a very similar situation to yours (noise and all) occur in my iBook about a year ago. The answer was a new drive.
Do you have Apple Care? Drive replacement (combo drive) for me would have been $230 USD. Apple covered it, since the machine is under warranty.

By using ST03N we get 1 month statistical records but we can't find the Terminal-IT. But When we use STAD we get last 2 days information with Terminal ID only
So can it possible for more then 2 days statistical records with Terminal ID by STAD.
Any setting / and background job / any other options. Pls suggest.

How can I access statistical records?
Using transaction STAD you can access the statistics files and display the statistical records. Here is a screenshot of the start screen of STAD.
*In Business Transaction Analysis -> In Read Interval ->
Specify the Date and Time (you want to retrieve).*

HT1349 My ipod touch 4th gen, will not let me access facebook or you tube it just takes ages to load then fails. I have reset the ipod but its still doing the same. Its only two months old, does anyone know how to fix it?

My sons ipod touch has stopped letting him access facebook or you tube. On entering the app or going in via safari it just states loading for ages then fails, I have reset it for him, but it hasn't helped. Is this a common problem? It is only 2 months old.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Can Only Read Certain Discs

I don't use discs very often, but recently I noticed that my macbook pro is unable to read a lot of my discs. The machine will accept the disc, whirr for a while, then eject it without seeming to recognize it. This is especially confusing as I know it was able to read some of these specific discs last year.
After some experimentation I realized that the discs that DO work seem to have some of the center area filled in with extra data storage. After looking up the fact that the data on a disc starts at the center, the issue becomes clear: the machine tries to start reading at this smaller diameter and gives up without checking further out.
Is my optical drive broken or is this a problem with the OS?

There is no "extra data storage". It's just a label.
Basically, your drive detects disc insertion, attempts to read the disc, and doesn't get a useful result. It concludes that the disc is damaged or incompatible and it spits it out. Assuming that these discs are clean and undamaged (that includes the label side), here's what could be going on
(1) With age, the drive's laser beam can no longer focus very tightly. It can still read some discs, but fails with others. Unfortunately, you cannot check this unless you're technically inclined and have an oscilloscope. If your drive is 5 years or older, this is a distinct possibility.
(2) Dust or other particles can settle on the drive's lens; this scatters the laser beam, with the same effect as in (1). You cannot check this with the naked eye, but you can try to fix it. There are special cleaning discs designed for this purpose. I cannot recommend any brand or model, but you can find them in them in the usual places (electronics stores, Amazon, etc). Make sure to read reviews of other users before buying and using such a disc.
(3) Manufactured optical discs usually have a metal reflecting layer. When correctly manufactured, such a disc lasts a long time. But recordable media (CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, etc) employ a dye, which, even when new, has less contrast between 'pits' and 'lands'. In time, this contrast fades even more, so eventually the disc becomes unreadable and the data is lost. There can be considerable variation in the durability of recordable media. Some cheap, low quality discs can become unreadable even within a year.
So, first check your media. Are the unreadable discs factory-made or recordable media? If the drive has problems with factory-made discs, first, make sure that the discs are good (other drives can read them); if they are, try cleaning your drive. If cleaning your drive hasn't worked, then it may be time to replace it with a new drive.

Is it a USB hard drive? USB hard drives have the problem of not giving full speed if they are hooked up on the same bus as keyboards and mice. Double check your profiler to make sure that is not a problem. If it is Firewire, make sure there aren't other firewire devices in use at the same time. I recommend not only keeping a Time Machine backup, but also a clone, and if you do use Time Machine, to make sure the Time Machine drive or partition is at least twice the size of the original drive.

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
You could also try reformat the Card with your camera

I have reset the phone, full firmware restore, even downgraded back from firmware 4.2.1 to .3.1.3 official by using dfu mode and still doesnt fix.
(i correctly got out of dfu mode after the downgrade)
i can enter dfu mode and recovery, and update through itunes with no problem, but it doesnt fix the problem,
i have searched and found no answer to this problem, every option availible to try that i know of i have tried and failed. i dont care about preserving my content i just want a fix. i have a good understanding how to operate software on a computer and shouldnt be too confused by any advice given, so plz even if the answer is very complex i wish to try anything, please help me to get my iphone working.
