CD disappeared into the mini....help!!!
Hi,
Have been happily storing my CD's onto my mini...until...
Nirvana Nevermind, just popped it in... It came up - Audio CD....
Then disappeared.
Now, it does not appear to think there is a cd inside it, but i know differently.
HOW THE **** DO I GET IT OUT!?!?!
It's all been so good, up until now.
HELP!!!
Have a look in iTUnes - sometimes CDs appear in there and can be ejected, even if they appear not to be mounted on the Finder's desktop. If that doesn't work, open Disk Utility (in applications>utilities) and see if the CD is listed on the left. If it is, you should be able to eject it.
If neither of these work, reboot the system and once you hear the chime, hold the (left) mouse button down until the CD ejects.

In iMovie 11, how can you cut/paste a clip that has subtitles and actually have the subtitles get cut/pasted. When I try, the subtitles disappear into the void and I have to do the subtitling all over again.

Charging sleeve on 4510L has disappeared into the unit....

I don't understand your question. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by the charging sleeve of the 4510L? All that comes to mind is the felt pouch that protects it from scratches.
Maybe you are referring to the charging USB port? VZW doesn't tend to be too lenient on physical damage to the devices. Someone would have had to press beyond normal wear and tear to break the charging port to a point where it disappears into the device. You can try your luck with VZW support but I'd bet they charge you for part if not a total replacement device. -
What do you do if all your music disappears into the Other folder......dreaded orange bar!

I am on vacation away from my home computer where my iTunes is. I turned on my iPod and scrolled down to Music and it showed "No Music." Went to "About" and saw that there were only 9GB of free space, so I felt for sure it was there because that's right at what I had when I last synced it, which was a couple days ago and it finished syncing with no problems. Went to the next "About" screen where you can see how much Audio, Video etc. etc. you have and it showed 0 Audio and The "Other" category had all the data in it. What happened to my music, and can I get it back on vacation without my iTunes on my computer at home? I tried the holding down of the Select middle button and the Menu button until the Apple logo appeared but that did not restore any Audio. Hope someone can help me out here.....Thanks

Solved my issue and thought I might do someone a favor by posting the answer. If you wind up with NO MUSIC and find all your audio files have been synced into the OTHER folder on your iPod such as what happened to me, AND if you happen to be unlucky enough not to have access to your computer where your iTunes program would allow you to re-sync your iPod, here's what worked for me in a Windows7 OS.
1.You will have to find a computer that has enough storage to hold the amount of information stored on your iPod. In my case, 139GB!!! Download iTunes if it is not already on the system, or if it is, update to the latest software.
2. Plug your iPod into one of the USB ports.
3. Open iTunes if it does not open itself.
4. Select your iPod from the menu on the left and you should get a message that iTunes cannot read the iPod. Simply close that box. If you get a message that syncing your iPod will erase all content then decline the sync.
5. Open Computer and you should see your iPod as an external hard drive.
6. Open it and you will see some folders and a few files. The folders will likely look like they are a washed-out yellow instead of a deep yellow like you're accustomed to seeing. That threw me initially because as I was looking for the folder with @ 139GB, it was not there. Right click each folder, go to Properties and check the "Show hidden files" in the View menu. After that, the folders will appear dark yellow and as you hover over each one, you will see one that will have the full amount of data that was on your iPod before the mess started. Open that folder and you will see a bunch of other folders with strange names, like F00, F01 etc. etc. Do the Edit, Select All, right click and in Properties, View menu, check the Show Hidden Files again. All the folders that were that light yellow color will now turn deep yellow. Be sure to select show hidden files not only for the folder but all sub folders and files box that will come up....forgot to mention that earlier. Now all your folders and the files in them will be readable by iTunes.
7. The folders will all still be selected. If not, select them and then do either a copy/paste into iTunes Music Library or drag them over into that pane. The process will begin and likely take quite a while. In my case, several hours. When it is done, you will see all your music in iTunes along with the album art if you had any.
8. Now you will need to sync your iPod to that library, but before you do, you will need to Restore it. Simply select it from the left menu and click on the Restore iPod option. That will only take a few minutes and it will wipe your iPod clean. Before you do that, it is a good idea to MAKE SURE YOUR MUSIC IS ALL THERE!!! I also went to about a half dozen of the albums and tried playing a few songs just to be double sure. Proceed with the Restore, and when it is complete change the iPod name that will be in the small box on the same page as the Restore option and likely be something like"karens iPod" (whoever the computer belongs to will be the name there) to exactly what your iPod is called on your iTunes on your computer that it was originally synced to. I found that before I did this, it would not sync.
9. When you hit Sync, be patient because it took a minute or so before it actually began to sync. Then, it will be another few hours if you have as much music as I did for the sync to complete and depending on the speed of the computer you're using.
That's how I got all my music back and I am now a happy camper/listener again.,
I called Apple support and they were absolutely no help. Just told me I would have to re-sync to my iTunes even though I kept telling them that was 1,650 miles away at my house and not going to be possible. I even asked if the above process would work and they said they didn't know but "You could try it....." :-( At that time, I didn't have access to a computer with enough hard disc space on it yet so I called the Apple store in Louisville, KY which was 65 miles from where I was hoping that they might be able to help. After 2 calls and getting hung up in the same loop of menus that left me on hold for over 20 minutes long distance, I gave up and concluded that Apple and Support are two mutually exclusive terms and have no relationship to one another. This has been quite a nightmare, and if anything good has come of it aside from having my music back, it might be the learning process but I really feel that is a rather small reward for the time spent!
Not likely to be an Apple fan when considering my next purchase of home computer, laptop, nor the phone I am preparing to buy.

Helpful AnswerI never throw anything away up to a point when it has become silly and then I have a cull. (This applies to the loft, the garage and the hard disk)
I always have (at least) two backups to external drives and by the end of a project also have a full backup to DVD.
I am a hobby photographer, so this isn't necessarily a good professional workflow!
I store work in progress within a folder structure that identifies just what it is, final folder being date stamped for the start date (eg D:\My Pictures\Photgraph Album Master\Family\Bob\20100715 Farnborough airshow)
Photographs of value are then kept within the folder with a date stamp and version number if they change within a day (eg 20100823 Alexander in cockpit 2).
Photographs I haven't touched remain with their camera-specified name.
Lightroom, which I use, doesn't know about external drives or DVD backups. (Maybe it should, but it would become confusing)

I want to do this. A user has to enter the nicno,into the html form(EnterNicInter.jsp),to verify if it is already exist or not. If it is exist in the db, an error msg(Record already exist) must be displayed. If not, then the page "InterviewForm.jsp" displayed. This part is working.
But, I can't save these details into the db by clicking submit button int the InterviewForm.jsp.

1) create a separate method just to connect and disconnect from a database;
2) use the value entered and see if you can find a record in the table. If the record is there, then you should re-direct your jsp to a jspError, else goes to another form.

Pedometer data disappearing into the ether, not into Nike+
Purchased a new iPod Nano yesterday. Got it home and connected it to my MacBook (running iTunes 9.0).
It asked me if I wanted to sync the pedometer data to Nike+ and I clicked on Yes.
It didn't ask me to create a Nike+ account so, having never created a Nike+ account or used the service, I imagined that I could log in with my Apple ID - the same one I used to register my iPod Nano.
When I visit the Nike+ web site by clicking the link in iTunes it takes me to a page where I have to choose my Country.
Whenever I connect my iPod Nano it asks if I want to upload my pedometer data to Nike+, the data disappears from my iPod but where does it go?
How do I tell iTunes which Nike+ account to use? OR, how do I tell Nike+ which iTunes account to use?
Any help would be appreciated.Weird thing is that now when I go into iTunes, and click the Nike + iPod, it shows my Nike account (same as my iTunes one) and syncs up the data. It shows my Login ID under the 'Automatically send workout data to Nike+.
The button (Visit Nike +) now takes me to the correct web page and shows my progress.
I am 20% up the 100 story building.
I think I need a few more days of activity to see what the site can do. It is a really interesting idea.
I do not know if I sync mid-day, will those steps go to Nike and a sync later that day add the additional steps?
Also, It seems to easy to delete steps from the Nano. I accidentily delete al my steps from 9/11.
Now I need to make sure that teh steps the Nano is capturing or pretty close. It seems to go into pause and not track steps once I leave the Pedometer memnu? -

I have developed this problem in the last two months. I try to download files, anything from a jpg on hotmail to a service patch. It tells me it's downloading, gives me the time remaining bar and al lthat, says it's going to a temprary folder (or where I have assigned it to go), the bar message dissapears and the file is....NOWHERE. It seems to disappear. It does not appear in a folder I assign it to. There is nothing in my temporary folders. I havebeen messing with this for a couple weeks..I can not figure it out.
help ?try removing norton and start downloads then if its sucessful surely there s a problem with norton

I've restarted my MacBook Pro (like I used to have to do with my PC) and I've of course also quit and restarted Contacts. What happens is, I select Contacts, like lets say from the Dock. It opens or comes to the foreground if it was already open. I can type in the search field (because the cursor is already there by default). I can hit enter and search, but if I touch the window it disappears behind all of my other applications. Yes, not just behind one application but behind everything that is open. So, I have to minimize everything or shove it all out of the way in order to get to the Contacts window and use it. Do you know the solution to this?
when you restart the machine, make sure you uncheck the "reopen windows" check box, and see if that helps.

I mean, when I load my itune library as usual and the syncing starts, I get the problem as described as follows;
When I try to sync, I see the songs being copied then I get a message, say after about 45minutes, that, itunes cannot read the ipod contents because the ipod data drive is corrupt. I have tried different things to no avail. It is very fraustrating, and if I may say so, very disturbing.
I hope somebody can help me, for I can see now that, many people have got similar problems and they haven't been able to solve. I understand this is a common ipod problem and many people have had to abandone their ipods after such problems. It is very hurting because ipods are very expensive to buy, and so to write it off like that is very dis-heartening. -

hi everybody,
we have some hi8 tapes that we would like to put onto our computer. however the camcorder no longer works. Does anyone know if there is a machine that takes hi8 tapes which we can plug into our apple? or if there is a way of getting around this problem?

After years of problem-free browsing on the same computer, Firefox now opens up to the taskbar, then you can see the page move over to the right of the desktop, then disappear. Cannot get it to display in center of screen as normal.
This happened for the first time about a month ago. We uninstalled Firefox, updated to the most recent version and reinstalled.
All was well until yesterday. Doing it again.
IE works fine.* Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.
* Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

Plugging monitor into headless mini server
I bought a new monitor to place in my colocation. I plugged it into the vga dongle on my Mac Mini server, and it didn't recognize the monitor, so I unplugged the dongle and plugged it back in, and it saw the new monitor. All I got on the display, however, was a grey screen with the mouse pointer. I could get the volume control to display but no other icons or the finder, etc.
Is there a way via the shell (I can ssh in with my iPhone) to reset the display so that it will be recognized as the primary display without rebooting the computer? Rebooting fixed the problem, but I am not a huge fan of rebooting a production server unless I absolutely have to.
The monitor is small (16") and will remain in the rack, and is currently plugged into the Mini, but turned off. I have similar problems with the datacenter crash carts where the monitor won't display unless I unplug the dongle, and I still have to reboot to get control on the monitor.

I recall having this issue a while back, I don't make a habit of plugging in displays, but I understand how frustrating it is to have to reboot.
Have you tried clicking mouse buttons, moving the cursor around, pressing keys? You might also try remoting into the server via VNC/ Remote Desktop/ Screen Sharing and seeing if you get a picture on a remote computer/ iPhone/ iPad (whatever you use to remote in). I'm thinking logging in with remote device will trigger the display physically connected to the Mac Mini. I seem to recall doing that once... Anyway, worth a shot! -
Passing video through the mini (HTPC)
I currently send video out to my television via HDMI from a receiver. I would like to instead input this video signal to a mac mini and output from the mini to the television (i.e. pass the video signal through the mini on the way to the television). My functional goal is to be able view the receiver input windowed - or full screen - on the mac desktop without losing any of the video quality at the television.
What is the best way to get the video input into the mini?Depending on the source and the output of which it is capable, an El Gato product may help.
