CD does not eject

The cd does not eject from the slot of my intel Mac 27" with i7 processor.  I have the same problem with another intel Mac. I have tried truning off the computer and re-starting.  Makes noises, nothing works.

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject.
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • DVD super drive problem-does not eject

am facing strange problem with my DVD super drive. It does not eject when idle for some time and when its empty. I have a dual core Mac Pro with snow leapord OS. I have replaced it, updated the OS.. nothing fixes the issue.
it only ejects when I restart the mac pro.
Please help as it does not respond to eject key on keyboard also.
    Thanx in advance.

If nothing else works for you, when you hear sound of drive trying to open after pressing keyboard eject button, strike the box of mac pro on both sides of the drawer with clenched fists.
I have been doing this for years.

  • Lion does not eject discs

Ever since I loaded Lion, my Macbook Pro refuses t recognize discs in the Superdrive.  Discs are not recognized and do not eject from Disk Utility.  I have to reboot the entire system with a Cmd boot

    Try this:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • DVD does not eject

    DVD does not eject

This worked for me.  I had the same problem:  a DVD that was inserted by my teenager (who knows how to insert a DVD) would not read and also not eject the normal way.  I found that I had to completely shut down (after I had logged out of my user id) and restart while holding down the eject key the whole time.  Just holding down the roller ball on the mouse while I did a restart did not do it.

  • DVD tray does not eject

I have a Lenovo G710. From the beginning I have a problem with the DVD bay. It won't come out if I press the button. I always use a paperclip! I already updated the drivers and to windows 8.1 but still it does not work properly. Sometimes the problem is bigger then the dvd/cd can not be read.  Is there a solution for this problem?
    Solved!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
In My Computer or File Explorer have you tried right clicking on the drive and using the Eject option to see if the tray opens ?
Since the button doesn't work I would suggest reseating the drive into the drive bay.  Page #38 of your model's User Guide explains how to remove the optical drive.  Just remove it and then fully insert in back into the bay a couple of times.  This will insure there is a good connection with the motherboard.  If that fails to work then I recommend contacting Lenovo Support for a replacement drive as your is faulty.  Since the optical drive is a customer replaceable part they should be able to just send you a new drive,  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....

  • My macbook pro does not eject dvd although making ejecting noise and tried all non-invasive suggested solutions.

The other night I watched a dvd in my laptop and once i pressed the eject button it made the noise as if it was coming out but it didn't.Now it keep making than noise everytime I attempt to eject but nothing comes out. Since then I tried all the 5 steps suggested on her but I have not been able to get it out.
My machine is 2 months out of warranty and only couple of weeks ago I had the hdd replaced at a cost as it had failed. I am not impressed with all the problems developing shortly after warranty expires.
if the superdrive has failed does any1 know how much it would cost to get it fixed? Any other solutions I could try?
Also I want to make a formal complaint who can I call and send an e-mail to?

See if there are some methods here you havent tried.  These are the only phone numbers and email addresses that I am aware of that are made public by Apple: http://www.apple.com/contact/
    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • Intel Mac Mini - Does not eject Discs or see the disc that is stuck

It seems like the mac has just stopped seeing the CD drive. I put a disc in there (an installer disc - not a CDR) and the disc didn't mount... I thought it was odd and tried to eject it. no go (not even the sounds like it is attempting to eject). I check system profiler and it lists:
    ATA Bus
    - MatshitaDVD-R UJ-846
So, the profile reads the drive.
I tried restarting the machine holding the mouse button down and no luck.
Even by pressing the eject button, I do not see the greyed out eject symbol on the desktop that usually appears when you hit eject.
    Any ideas anyone?

The open firmware method doesn't work on intel macs unfortunately (at least the command-option-f-o method).
starting with the eject key didn't work either...
in the end, I cracked open the case, popped the top of the drive off, removed the disc by, re-assembled. Note that at this point the computer still thinks there is a disk in the drive. However, upon attempting to read a disk (that isn't there) on boot, the computer realizes this and unlocks the releasing mechanism, so it "ejects" clearing the drive bay.
To be safe, I rebooted a few times... then booted from CD a few times... then booted normally. All seems to be ok.
I do not recommend this method to anyway. This should be done as a last resort by Apple techs. The only reason I did this is because I am pretty far away from any apple service center. For me, I have an external burner attached so had I destroyed the CD drive, I would still have been "ok". Again, this most likely voided my warranty, and I do not suggest this to anyone.

  • Satellite E205-S1904 does not eject the CD

    To whom it may concern
My Satellite E205-S1904 has an audio CD inside the ODD. I can play the CD, but I cant eject it. I tried: efect by through Windows Explorer, FN+Tab, etc.
Any tip to eject the CD? The problem is that I am in Japan and I cant reach the Toshiba Service.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcio

Marcio--You can download the service manual for your computer at the address shown below for $4.95. It will tell you what you need to know to get inside and do something about the cd drive. Or if you are comfortable doing so, it's fairly easy to take off the bottom of the machine and see what you can do.

  • My computer does not eject the disc after it has been burned.

I understand that my computer is supposed to automatically eject a disc after it has been burned. Mine doesn't. Instead, I hear a "Plonk," which I assume is announcing that the burning process has been completed.
First of all, is it true that the disc is supposed to be ejected after the burn has been completed? Secondly, how can I restore that function?

To clarify...are you importing songs from a CD into iTunes, or are you burning songs from iTunes onto a blank CD? If it's the former, iTunes won't eject it...you'll just hear a chime or noise when it's done. If it's the latter it should eject.
For the second poster, it sounds you are importing. In which case, you will just hear the sound when importing is finished and you eject the CD yourself.
Just to make sure that I understand you correctly, here's what I did: Imported songs from website. They were in RealPlayer format. I then converted the song files into MP3 format, and put them into my iTunes music library. Finally, I put the songs in a New Smart Playlist, and burned them into a blank disc.
Given this situation, should I expect the disc to automatically eject when the burning is competed? If so, what do I have to do to get it to work properly?
