CD/DVD drive suddenly not working on brand new macbook pro?

I have a BRAND NEW 15" macbook pro, was ripping some commercial cd's into my itunes, when the computer , suddenly stopped recognizing them at all, they dont even show up on the desktop . It ejects them fine. What is the deal? Is the cd dvd reader defective? Please advise...

Failing that, insert a DVD and see if it works. If it does then I would contact AppleCare as this would most likely mean you have a failed CD laser (it's different to the DVD laser).

Trackpad not working on brand new Macbook Pro 15" not retina,

I've just got from UPS my new Macbook Pro 15" not retina. It's the basic model, without upgrades.
I've plugged it in and turned it on to go through the setup assistant, but I had to do it with the keyboard and an external USB mouse, because the internal trackpad is not responding at all. Is it normal?

That was the first thing I did. They told me that it was normal, but I don't believe them. They told me to wait until installation was complete and perform updates, and try after that. That's what I'll do, but I suspect I'll have to have it replaced.
Right now I'm migrating my old mac to this one. I'll update as soon as migration is complete.

Promo printer not working with brand new macbook pro

Just got the macbook pro with promo hp 3050 j610 printer, and it says the computer is not compatible with my computer when i try to download. I went on to hp site to download drivers andit didint work.. Please help.. I want to hook it up wireless! Thank you!

USB net stick will not work and not recognized by brand new macbook pro lion

Hi and thank you to anyone that can help!
I just bought a new macbook pro with OX 10.7 Lion the other day. I have an Alcatel x220 USB internet net stick that I used to use with my previous computer with Windows 7.
When I insert the usb stick, the setup driver is supposed to come up, so I can install it on the Macbook. But nothing comes up, and the macbook does not even recognize that I have inserted the net stick.
I also downloaded the program, and the drivers, and still nothing. The apple people tried fixing it for a few hours today, and they can't figure it out either. Same with the cell phone company that provides me with the net stick. No one has any idea how to fix it.
Basically, anyone have any idea how to get the USB net stick Alcatel x220 to work with a new macbook pro OS Lion 10.7?!?!?!?!? This is driving me crazy, and I would really appreciate anyones' help! Thank you!!

thanks I appreciate your response. Yeah I read something about the 64 bit problem. I found this link and at the bottom there is a driver update or something to make it work with 64 bit. My external hard drive is not recognized on my new MacBook Pro, even though it is recognized on my older MacBook and other computers. Help?

Please help me find a solution to my new MacBook Pro not recognizing my hard drives. Yes, thats two hard drives I have that don't seem to work on this computer but both work on my older MacBook and many other computers.

It is formatted for both PC and Mac
I have tried finding it in Disk Utility, no dice...
Tried both USB Ports
And a reboot is still unsuccessful..

Why are none of my midi controllers not working with my new MacBook Pro?

I am running OS X 10.7.3
None of my M-Audio midi controllers are syncing with my new MacBook Pro.
They are all class-compliant and willl work on Mac OS X without the need of a driver is what M--Audio has posted on there website for all of my controllers.
I am using the following midi controllers:
Keystation 49e
Axiom 25
Trigger Finger
I purchased my new laptop all most 2 months ago and have not been able to start making music on it since. Lots of issues transitioning to Lion. I am still using my old macbook to make music. Any suggestions?

Brother Printer HL-5250DN not working with my new MacBook Pro - HELP

Hello there, I just purchased a new MacBook Pro - I've had to use PC (yuck) for work and had an IBook which was great until the dog knocked it off the dresser ...... Anyway, so I've replaced it with the Pro and love it - of course. Except......
My problem is this Brother printer (HL 5250DN) which has been an absolute workhorse, but try as I might I can't get this Pro to print - unless I physically hook it to a USB port and print, which defeats the purpose of having a wireless network allowing me to print from anywhere.....
I have tried suggestions from previous posts (unzipping the gz files - resetting the printer) but still nothing works... Any other suggestions - I'm going nuts here and Brother help line can't seem to give me a solution that works... HELP..... I really want to get going (New Years Resolutions and such) on my new projects and am absolutely grounded with this thing....

Check the Dell website for compatible printer drivers you can download and install.
Once the drivers are installed, open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
Then click + to add the printer.

ADF not working in brand new LaserJet Pro MFP M127-M128

We recently purchased a LasertJet Pro M127-M128. The ADF does not work consistently. It automatically prompts to glass feed. When we change scan feeder and insert the document to the scanner we get an error report "ADF does not contain any pages. Insert the pages and rescan." There are already pages in the scanner. This is very frustrating. I do not want to return this device but if we can't solve the problem we have no choice. Thank you!

I would like to work with you today with resolving the automatic document feeder issues that you're experiencing on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw. By the sounds of what you're describing, it does sound like you're experiencing a paper sensor issue with the automatic document feeder. To confirm this, can you remove all the paper from your automatic document feeder and with the printer at its normal screen insert 1 sheet into the feeder. The printer should make a 'ding' noise or display 'original' or 'document loaded' on the screen of the printer. Should none of these things happen than the paper sensor is not 'seeing' pages in the feeder and will not attempt to feed anything. I'm going to provide some troubleshooting steps to resolve this automatic document feeder issue. First, can you please run through the following HP Support document. The document does indicate the it is for a Paper Jam error, which I know you're not experiencing. However, it is always a good idea to check the automatic document feeder for any packaging debris or paper. 'Original Jam: Clear jam, and then press OK' Once you check the automatic document feeder for debris and ensure that nothing is stuck in the mechanism, proceed with the next steps. Clean the pickup rollers and separation pad in the document feeder:
1. Lift the document-feeder input tray. 2. Use a moist, lint-free cloth to wipe both pickup rollers and the separation pad to remove dirt. CAUTION: Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, ammonia, ethyl alcohol, or carbon tetrachloride on any part of the product; these can damage the product. Do not place liquids directly on the glass or platen. They might seep and damage the product. 3. Once dry, close the document-feeder input tray. Load 1 piece of paper in the automatic document feeder. Ensure the paper guides are adjusted and the feeder lid is closed tight. Does the product detect paper loaded now? If the printer still fails to recognize paper as loaded in the feeder a reset may be needed. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Best of luck!

Office for mac 2011 not working correctly on new Macbook Pro- Help

I have a MacBook Pro from September and had One to One transfer all files/programs (including 2008 Office). I then purchased the Office for Mac 2011 program and they installed it (I guess they did not remove the older program). It has never worked correctly and I have tried to contact Microsoft to no avail.
None of the documents open with Fonts intact (Word and Excel open up blank though the graphic elements show up. I have to Select All and choose a font to make it show up.
Powerpoint is barely functional (none of the layouts actually show up when I select them, the sidebar of slides does not update as I type or try to change themese, etc. And then when I type, the program freezes and then shuts down.
I have uninstalled 2008 and 2011 and then re-installed 2011 but the same issues occur. Someone on the microsoft community told me to remove my duplicate fonts, I ddi that and the same issues still occur. My brother has the same laptop and Office for Mac 2011 and no issues.
Can someone help me basically try to start fresh- should I uninstall again? (I waas told that installing/uninstalling too many times can further the problem).

Font will not work on my new MacBook Pro

I recently upgraded from an older macbook pro to a newer one. I had a font on the old computer (avenir) and cannot get it to work on my new computer. specifically the problem is with adobe photoshop cs5. i used to use the font with adobe photoshop cs3, which i also have on the new computer and also does not work.
when i try to add the font to fontbook, that does not work either. it searches for a moment then nothing happens. any suggestions?

My ipod classic, (that I've previously used on another mac), is not working on my new Macbook Pro?? I've had all my music transered to my new Macbook, but can't upload anything onto my ipod :-(

When I tried the headsets again, they all work. I didn't have one of them plugged in far enough. I guess didn't want to breakanything. Thanks for your reply. All fixed!!

I am using the same OSX 10.6.8 Works fine. I akso use Page sender fax center to fax with but they just emailed me that once Lion is out Page Sender Fax won't work any longer. Guess I'll use the built in fax software

My mac book fell of my desk yesterday. All seems well, but I noticed today that the dvd drive is not working properly, it seems to want to keep ejecting the disk even when the disk is out, and it won't accept dvd's any more. Any suggestions o fellow apple users?

Back up EVERYTHING, then take it in to have them assess for any latent damage. Wouldn't want a similar "delayed reaction" from the hard disk drive, would we?

My DVD drive is not working properly, in fact it may never have been working proper. Recently I tried to back up my PC to a DVD using Norton 360. Norton did not recognize the DVD was present. I then tried writing a text file to a DVD and was unsuccessful. Both DVD+R and DVD-R media were tried (Maxwell 16X).
I could have probably lived with this however, I got a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 on a CD and my Toshiba would not recognize it. I tried the CD in my neighbors laptop and it was recognized.
An attempt at updating the driver was also unsuccessful.
I was able to rip a music CD last night so that at least is working correctly.
Does anybody know how I can fix this? The important part is being able to load my new program.
Searching some forums I've found that other people have had problems with the Pioneer drive. If the drive cannot be fixed I am not adverse to buying an external DVD drive. Unfortunately where I live there are no brick-and-mortar stores which sell external drives and I would prefer to avoid the hassle of getting a drive online and discovering that it does not work with my Toshiba. Can anyone suggest an external USB drive which will read and write CDs and DVDs and which is certain to be compatible with my Toshiba?

Any external USB CD/DVD drive will be compatible with your laptop.
However you wont be able to boot of CD's (Run Recovery for example) if you use an external drive.
So your best option would be to replace the internal drive with a Toshiba drive designed for the laptop. Call an ASP and ask for a quotation.

DVD-Drive is not working any more

My DVD-Drive is not working any more. When I enter a CD/DVD it makes a strangs bruummm for 2 or 3 times ant then ejects the CD/DVD. What can I do. I think the Drive is broken.
