CD/DVD Printing

For several years HP offered printers capable of printing CDs and DVDs. Now I notice none of your printers offer that option. Is there a way with a current printer that CDs and DVDs could be printed on them. I currently have an HP Photosmart B209b printer. CD and DVD manufacturers are still producing printable CDs and DVDs.

  • Photosmart C309a CD/DVD Printing Software

I love my new printer, but I was hoping for a better software package for CD/DVD printing than was supplied with the printer.
I had been using my son's Canon until I bought the new printer.  I thought the Canon CD/DVD software was a little primative, but it is way more versatile than the standard HP software for CD printing.
I do a lot of CD printing and need more flexibility than the standard software offers.
Can anyone advise me if there are any available options for better software for CD/DVD printing?
Is HP working on any improvement? - they should be!
Can a third party software be used? How? Which one?
Please help me out.  I am sick of my son Paying me out for buying a HP.
I have had HP's for many years, but I need better software.
PS.  The scanning software on this printer is awesome. Great for family photo scanning

Oh, man I know.  This HP software SUCKS. Microsoft Publisher has a CD template that works perfect with no page alterations needed. And it is very flexible. You just have to select the C309a properties before you print and choose to print on a CD.  If you use any type of publishing or graphic software you should be able to print to the CD. Just set the page size to 5.12 inch x 5.12 inch. Even MS Word works. Just not very flexible.

  • D7560 DVD printing - custom template or custom position of image

How do I create a custom template or custom position images in order to print a CD or DVD directly on my D7560?
I do not want to use any of the templates in Photoessentials, or at least I'd like to customize one to fit what I want to do.  There is a "customize position" button on the "edit" page, but it's grey'd out and won't let me select it.
Can anyone help me with this?  Do I have to create a template in Photoshop and just import that as the image or is there actually an easier way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for the same thing too. I had an Epson before & it had a great DVD printing program, full size, complete . This is crap. I'm on a mac. If I had know it was this bad, I never would have bought it. Any answere yet? Thanks.

  • Photosmart C5380 CD/DVD print function not available

    Hello,
I've installed Photosmart C5380 under Windows XP using the latest driver downloaded from HP site. Opening HP Solution Center after installation, I've seen the CD/DVD print button is missing. Why?

    Hello!
I really wish I could see what you see.  I have never actually seen this function (in Solution Center) you are talking about so help me to understand something please:
The button was there at one point and after uninstall/reinstall it is no longer there?
Or, is it that the button is there but grayed out/unavailable?
Or was it visible on a different computer - if so what was the OS of that computer?
Have you ever successfully printed on a CD/DVD with this printer?
Just answer which one best describes the scenerio in which you are experiencing please.
Go to your Start Button>>All Programs>>HP>>C5380 series software, and please tell me what is listed in this folder so I can know for certain you are missing the software.
    Thanks!

  • DVD Printer (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)?

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for this question: has anybody had experience with DVD printers (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)? Is there a special kind of DVDs required for these printers? What printer works well, does anybody have experience with these?
A search on these forums brought no results. Also, I am not interested in label makers.
    Thanks!
    -Dima

Epson and Canon both have great ink jet printers that allow for dvd printing directly to the top surface (normally to a white surface dvd). For the past few years I've been using white surface Verbatim and a Canon Printer IP3000. Newer models do an even better job.

  • Recomendations For Waterproof DVD Printer?

    Hi,
I need help with getting the best reasonalbe priced DVD on disk printer? is the Ebson R800 the one of the best for color waterproof one? What about "thermal printers" for DVDs? and recommended prinable glossy DVDs?
    Thanks Tim C.
    Cole Productions

I can second that recommendation for the Taiyo Yudens - they may be expensive but I've got reliable burns with these discs where all else have failed and the glossy finish looks good.
These discs work in any inkjet direct-to-CD/DVD printer - I use the HP Photosmart D5160 which is inexpensive but has appallingly poor supplied software - I use Photoshop instead.
Using this printer leaves faint roller marks over the glossy surface, however, although I've not yet tried to polish these after the discs have dried.

  • C309a DVD Printer WILL NOT PRINT!

Has anyone tried suing HP for false advertising? I certainly will be after purchasing this abortion of a printer.
**bleep** that sales rep! He told me this C309a would be the perfect printer for my needs. That is, it would print perfectly and directly onto my 100's of DVD's. With ease no less!
Bollox! I knew I should have got him to prove it.
OK, now for my technical issue:
My C309a won't print to CD/DVD. I'm running Win7, have ALL the HP downloads, use HP Essentials to set up the disc for printing and have gone into the printer settings to change preferences. In Essentials I've done exactly the same at the PRINT stage.
I've then opened the CD/DVD tray. I've followed the instructions on the little animation, I've clicked on PRINT and the stupid piece of plastic gives me
CD/DVD TRAY IS OPEN ---- PLEASE CLOSE TRAY TO CONTINUE PRINTING
I've spent hours and hours trying to sort this. I've downloaded God only knows how much software, programs and ruddy updates. So now I'm at the end of my tether. This really is the final option.
Surely, please God, there has to be just one. Single. Solitary person out there in our great big World. Just one who has a Hewlett Packard C309a that really and truthfully, in perfect detail, PRINTS DIRECTLY TO A DVD!!!!!!!!! There has to be one, doesn't there? Otherwise HP wouldn't be allowed to even mention these pieces of rubbish?
The problem is of course, besides the obvious one I've already described here, is that the only consumers who come in to this HP Forum, are those with similar problems as myself and all they'll do is shake their heads, sigh deeply and say knowingly to themselves........... "I know exactly how the poor bugger feels"
Which is sad for me I guess because I guarantee NO ONE from HP will offer a solution to this that a) Works b) Doesn't require me to upgrade my whole system around there crap and c) Is just plain simple.
No, what I will get though are heaps of pop up messages asking me to fill in a form. I'll get pop up requests from HP every single bloody time I turn on my computer asking if I want to do a daily update, even though I specifically checked the NO DAILY UPDATES box during setup.
*sigh* I'm bone weary of all this, I really am, I just want a quiet life and to be able to print with a machine that says 'Printer' on the side of it. Either that HP or give me my money back, plus the cost of extra ink, plus my lost hours and the cost of the valium I'm now taking.
GOD **bleep** YOU HEWLETT PACKARD!!! GOD **bleep** YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!!
    (Apologies to Charlton Heston)
    Footnote
I had to add this because it's just so funny and typical of HP. Even the daft Spell Checker on here wanted to replace C309a with Acacia BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Hi I now have the same problem having downloaded Windows 7. This is the only option that will not work. Everything was fine on Vuse. I telephoned a help line number that HP gave, it was a tech doc, I paid £21 and was told to install new version of HP Photosmart, which I did, and guess what!! yes you've guessed correctly there is nothing on the Photosmart for dvd/cd covers or direct printing to dvd/cd. The only one that does that one that does that is photosmart 3.5. HP are very unhelpful and Microsoft as usual to not talk to other manufacturers when designing their Windows.
If any one out there knows how to solve this problem please help.
The only solution I have is that I use my laptop which still has Vuse on it, and I use that to print by wireless onto the printer for DVD's etc. Not very satisfactory but at least it solves the problem.

  • CD/DVD Printing on C309a

Please someone save me from the countless head bashings I am giving myself trying to solve this problem - that really should be no problem at all!
I cannot get this printer to print directly onto a Cd/DVD.  I have just changed computers and remember it being a complete pain in the arse trying to get it to work - but unfortunately - 6 hours of trying am still not able to do it!
I simply would like to be able to select my jpeg image - (which is my logo & clients name) - click print, select cd/dvd & have it print.  What am I forgetting to do???

  • CD DVD print size is missing from Apple print menu options

    Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has this same problem I'm trying to fix. Thanks for you input, is much appreciated.
When I bought my Canon Pixma MG 5350 that can print over blank printable CD or DVD, there was an option to choose the CD / DVD size. You could even choose to print 120 or 80 mm sizes. But after a while when I went back to print a DVD, those sizes were gone for good and there was only one size labeled something like "Disk tray G" (my system is not in English so it can be different for you).
I tried it although I didn't know how would this succeed if I had to print a small DVD and it failed. A portion of the DVD was not printed and left blank because the DVD position was moved away from the real tray size, so there was this portion not printed in the DVD but printed over the tray plastic!
I reseted the printer configuration, tried to update it and everything possible but CD / DVD sizes are just gone. I can print using the Canon software, however I'd like to use Apple printer dialog as I'd like to print from Photoshop, Illustrator, Pages etc. directly. My solution now is to export an image and print using the Canon software but this is not how it worked before.
I contacted Canon about this and they are "investigating" this. As the problem is in the generic print options in the System maybe this can be a driver problem or a change. It happens in both an iMac and a Macbook with OSX 10.9.4, everything is updated and working normally. Printer has the latest firmware and software and I reseted the print configuration in the Mac, also reseted the printer to factory defaults, etc.
Does this happen to anyone trying to print CD / DVD from the System print options? Thank you.

As far as I know, you can only print CD/DVD's on Canon's MG and MX series from Canon's Easy PhotoPrint or Image Garden applications. I've never seen a way to print from non-Canon applications. So I would say that what you are experiencing is specification and I would be interested to read if Canon came back to you with a solution.

  • Epson R800  and CD/DVD printing

Using the Epson stylus photo R800 printer and its accompanying software Epson PrintCD, i started having problems printing to CDs.
Here is the basic recovery process that worked for me.
    1) I deleted the EPSON folder in system / Library / Printers.
    2) I used Apple's Software Update...; new epson software was found and installed.
    3) I rebooted the computer.
    4) Opened Epson PrintCD software and the file I wanted to print.
    5) Inserted the printable DVD disk.
    6) Opened the File menu and selected Page Setup (following instructions on page 68 of the User's Guide for the Epson printer).
    7) There is only one selection for the [Format for:] option *EPSON Stylus Photo R800*. This is a change from the manual, at least my old manual.
    8) The text under this option now reads *EPSON SP R800 (1)*.
    9) Set the next option [ Paper Size: ] as US LETTER (manual feed). This is another change from the manual. There is a triangle to the right of US LETTER which allows the manual feed option.
    10) Select [OK]
    11) Open the menu File Print.... dialog.
    12) I left it on the [ EPSON Print CD ] and did not alter any more settings and selected [ Print ].
If your window opens with different settings the EPSON Print CD option is the drop down after Printer: , Presets: , Copies: , Pages:. It appears in the dropdown list with layout, paper handling, cover page. etc.....
    Good Luck,
    I hope this helps.

Reefberry, you beauty! I just installed 10.5.6 and was not able to print CDs/DVDs using Epson Print CD on my Epson Stylus Photo R800 until I read your post. I did not have to delete the Epson Folder or any of that. My problem was I didn't realize under Page Setup, Paper Size, Letter there was the option for manual feed. Before your fix I could get Print CD to recognize the printer but when I tried to print the error message was out of paper or incorrect output tray. After changing to manual feed I am back in business (literally) again. Thank you!

  • Epson r800 dvd print problems

I've got an Epson Photo R800 printer connected to my imac G5 running on Mac OS 10.3.5. I did loads of research before choosing this printer, and made sure I had the system requirements Epson ask for by checking the Epson and Apple sites. Epson claim this printer will work with OS 10.1.3 and above.
I've run Tech Tools on my computer just to check that it's a happy bunny, and it passed all tests with no problems.
The printer prints photos beautifully, I couldn't be happier with it, but it won't print on CD/DVDs, which is one of the main reasons I bought it.
When I try to print on DVD using the Epson Print CD software bundled with the printer, I get the error message ' Epson printer driver dealing with CD printing is not installed'.
I uninstalled the printer drivers and re-installed them from the original discs, but still got the same problem. I downloaded the print cd software from the Epson site and installed it, but still got the same problem.
I contacted Epson 5 times about this: first, they advised me to take the steps I already had.
Then they showed me the manual print 'work around' which involved ignoring the error message, and this looked hopeful with the printer beginning to make whirring noises, but then another error message comes up saying that the output tray is in the wrong position, which, trust me, it isn't.
Then Epson promised to send me discs which they claimed would solve the problem. When they didn't send anything, I rang again and they sent a disc, but it was for Windows and for a completely different printer.
Then I got mad, because all this had taken 2 months, and I'd lost work because of it. So I rang again (it took an hour and a half to get to speak to someone), and asked to speak to the manager, who sent me the correct disc, of a updated version of Print CD. I installed it, it didn't solve the problem.
Now Epson are saying that I have to upgrade my OS, which, as everything is working fine apart from this, I am loathe to do. I've got Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro and After Effects on there and everything is ticking along fine - I work with Macs and have had bumper problems trying to get these versions of this software to work with a newer OS there, so I'm not keen to muck about with things at home when I'm happy with everything as it is. Also, when the printer's advertised as working with 10.1.3 and above, why should I?!
Has anyone else had problems with an R800 and mac os 10.3.5? Any ideas? This is such a drag, and I fear that if I have to speak to Epson one more time, I may trash the telephone in frustration.

I have tried everything I can think of! Updated to 10.6.3v 1.1, reset printing, searched the forums, prayed, and have just about given up. As posted previously, my other imac that i did not update to 10.6.3 prints fine.
I appreciate all the tips I have received but does anyone else have suggestions? What should I do next? Is this unresolvable? Purchase a new printer??

  • Printing to an Epson RX595 DVD printer?

This may not be the right place to ask this, but bare with me please.
I have asked Epson and gotten no response so I though I would try somewhere else.
I have an Epson RX595 printer that can print to DVD's and CD's my question is ...
Is there a way to print a DVD/CD directly from Adobe Photoshop.?
Is there a template that I can download and open in photoshop and it will be
configures properly to print to this printer?
    Thank you;
    Steve Cohen

They way I went about this was using Photoshop to create the image, then saved it as a .jpg or .gif or.bmp then used the print cd software import feature to import the image and I would adjust it accordingly. I know this does not answer your question if you can print directly from photoshop, but this way should work unless you cannot use print cd software for some reason. (In that case, I do believe there is still a way, I don't know how it will turn out because I have never tried it, by somewhere in the settings of one of the software apps the printer came with( I have found it by playing around and I would check now, but I use this printer at the local church) you can change the paper type (ie. letter, photo paper, envelope, CD, etc.) to CD/DVD.

  • Mountain Lion DVD Printing?!

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280 printer and the main reason I got it was to print onto DVDs. When I got Mountain Lion (among other headaches) was that the software included "Epson Print CD" went from not printing DVDs when tasked to do so, to no longer opening after the second update.
Does anyone know if there is seemless software able to bridge this gap and allow me to use my great printer again?
    HELP!!!

The R280 is an old printer, Epson consideres it obsolete.  It does appear, however to have a driver & version of PrintCD for Mt. Lion. (see seroposi's reply above).  Try that first.
Beyond that, I'd recommend Print Shop 2 for Mac.  I've been using it for years for DVD/CD printing with a number of different Epson printers.  I used to use Epson Print CD but Print Shop 2 supports a greater range of creative design.

  • OT +/-   Direct Inkjet to DVD Printer Recommendation

Sorry for the slightly off-topic, but I figured many of you have a similar need. I wanted to upgrade my inkjet at home from an Epson i777 to something newer, QUIETER and that can print directly onto DVDs.
I know you can't beat Epson for quality, but the price of the ink is outrageous. I've bought third-party inks but the quality goes way down. Anyone have other brands that produce good quality with ink costs in the reasonable range? Not to mention the noise facto and the direct-to-disk printing.
    Thanks for any opinions.

I have an Epson R200 (now replaced by the 220, I think) that I only use for printing panoramas and printing on discs (CD/DVDs).
I have other printers I use for most of my printing.
Printing on discs doesn't take much ink so the cartridges last a long time, and the Epson quality is great.
