CD Jammed Inside MacBook HELP!!!

I put in a CD into my macbook to add it into iTunes, it made a loud buzzing noise, wouldn't recognize the CD, so I ejected it.. it made a loud click noise and now it's stuck inside the CD Drive!! Does anyone know how to get it out? PLEASE HELP!

If you cant eject the CD using the above method, but you are able to boot into the OS. open up terminal and type in the following command, this will force a software eject of the disk.
DRUTIL eject
if you have more than one optical drive attached to the system, type
DRUTIL List
this will list all the optical drives attached to the system, then just use the eject command as above but put the drive number at the end of the command, (eg: drutil eject 1)

  • Headphone jack broken off inside Macbook--HELP!

My dad recently gave me his MacBook Pro, only problem is the audio is completely broken. This occurred when the computer was on the bed with headphones were plugged into the headphone port, and the dog jumped on the headphone jack, breaking it off inside of the computer.... The piece is totally irretrievable; it's broken off far inside of the headphone port. My father contacted the Apple store and I contacted Mac Mall, and they both said the same thing--it will have to be taken apart, and could cost up to $900 to fix!!!
This is a huge expense that I would like to avoid if possible..... my question is, is there any way to get around this problem? Is there any way I can get audio without having the computer taken apart to get the broken headphone piece out? Are there perhaps external speakers that work through the USB port? Or is there a way to change the settings so the computer doesn't acknowledge that there is something plugged in the headphone port? I really don't know! I'm totally desperate. Anything helps. Thanks!

    Yes, easy way around it.
look up a JEWELRY REPAIR place, usually they charge $30 or $40
they drill into the back of the jack, then insert a mini jewelers screw and yank it out.   Ive done it myself for a customer long ago.
Many jewelry repair people do such things.

  • Lift up the rear of the Macbook helps cooling?

    Hi,
Does lift up the rear of the Macbook helps cooling?
    OR !
If the Macbook is a flat wood surface (Table) the Table get warm too, does the Macbook and the Tabel "share the hotness"?
is a flat surface better than lift the rear up?
I lift it up with a CD Case.
If you Lift the rear up you have a Airflow.

I've noticed that wooden desks seem to get hotter than metal surfaces -- wood seems to "hold" the heat more. My wood desk at home and the wood lapdesk I had would both get very hot with my MacBook, but when I used it at work on a metal filing cabinet or on a metal notebook stand, those didn't seem to get hot at all. The metal surfaces also appeared to keep the MacBook itself cooler.
As a result, I now use an iLap aluminum lapdesk instead of a wooden one. (It can also be used an a desk.) The aluminum stays completely cool, whereas the wood would get quite hot. I also put four round silicone pads on the bottom of the Macbook (they seem to be a bit thicker than the original "feet") that raise it up slightly for airflow and keep it from slipping on any surface.

  • Dust "inside" Macbook Pro 15" 09 version - help?

I hope this is in the right section..
Anyways, I have a Macbook Pro 15" laptop that I purchased in 2009. Just recently while cleaning my screen, I realized that there are specks of dust that I can't wipe off and I'm assuming that they're "inside" the screen, or stuck somewhere in there. Is this a common issue with Macbooks? And if so, does it cost a lot to fix this issue? (I am no longer under warranty).
    Thanks.

Oh that's a lot, but I figured it would be.
Let's say I were to get it fixed, cost set aside, is there a way to not have the dust come back in? I think the way it got in is towards the bottom of my screen near the hinge where it says "Macbook Pro". That part isn't sealed all the way and I can push it down sometimes to stick it better.

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13' 2015 [MF840] (rattle inside macbook)

Hey people plz help! I have a prolem with my MacBook Pro MF840
Searching the way to solve my problem I visited few apple authorized stores in Ukraine, and I asked if I can try to shake new models MacBook Pro 13' (MF839, MF840, MF841) to find out if they also have this weird noise inside, like something is loosen inside. And I found out that that they also have this problem, but not all of them!! There was few of them that were ok. And I am curious what could it be... because it's not a force touch and not the keyboard. It's something big... and the noise comes from upper case.
People, can you try to shake your new MF models (from side to side), and check if you also have the same problem?

Looks like your MacBook has a factory defect. It should still be under warranty, so I suggest you to visit the store, where you purchased your laptop and ask for a replacement or a refund.

  • Stolen macbook help please

my macbook is stolen how can i find it using the serial number? please i have a lot of photos if i can't find it can i delete the things that are inside the macbook?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2526 - You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.
    My Support Profile - https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Having the serial number will only help when you report the loss to the police and they happen to recover it.  It cannot be used to find the Mac.  The only thing to do that is:
    Using Apple's Find My Mac Feature - NYTimes.com - http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/25/using-apples-find-my-mac-feature/
iCloud now features Find My Mac service - http://www.tuaw.com/2011/10/13/icloud-now-features-find-my-mac-service/
These require you have it set up before the computer is lost.

As stated above, when I start Mac it shows a white screen with an image of a folder with a ? inside it.
I have shut it down by holding the power button then pulled the power cord waited 10mins and restarted for the same result.
    Any help would be great.

    Cheers for the info Allan.
I unfortunately do not have a back up.  It is in the hands of the repairer now, fingers crossed they can save my stuff.
FYI, i'll be backing up in future.

  • I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook help ASAP!!!

I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook so I can format and re-install the default operating system. I have lost the original recovery disc that came with my MacBook years ago. Can anybody tell me how and where I can order one from?
Also, I do have the original recorvery disc that came with my MacBook Pro, could I not just use this or would it not be compatible?
    Help ASAP please...
    Thank you!

For a fee, you could likely order a replacement install-restore DVD for your MacBook. To get the correct disc(s) and match the hardware to the system, you need to know and have the serial number of the product handy, and be able to answer some basic questions; and have a form of payment, such as credit card.
Call the Apple Store online (main US number, 1-800-MY-APPLE) or the main Apple Support number for US, 1-800-275-2273.
Or if you're in another country, you could try calling a Local in-country support number and ask, since they may have to redirect your call to another associate. See link below for Support phone numbers.
An operating systems specialist or other qualified person will be able to try & help obtain the correct disc or disc set; if the computer original gray-label set is no longer available, they may be able to check their extensive database against your product serial number to see if they may have another full install disc that can work.
This other option, if it happens, based on your MacBook serial number and build model identifier, could be slightly newer than the OS X version shipped with the MacBook, and not be gray-labeled.
A replacement install disc in retail version would not include any original MacBook applications, while a gray-label disc set should have most of them as part of a multiple DVD set, if available.

  • Hard Drive not recognised inside MacBook Pro, however works in enclosure...

    And my question is... WHY?!
Basically, my Macbook Pro took a bit of a knock on the hard drive side. Coincidentally, as it was on at the time, (Whoops!), it stopped responding and the colour wheel of death was apparent. I restarted with option held pressed down, so that I can see if the Hard Disk is still being read/recognised. After doing this a couple of times, I noticed that the Hard Disk was becoming intermittent in its ability to being read. I have also used Disk Utility and Disk Warrior and have been getting the same symptoms. I diagnosed, (more of an assumption than anything), that the Hard Disk is broken and I need another one. No biggy! I have a Time Machine drive, which had just that moment finished backing-up! =) Nice!
Anyway, I got a new hard drive (Toshiba 250 GB MK2552GSX Model no.), put it in my Macbook Pro and it, again, is intermittent, therefore fully disproving my theory that it was the Hard Disk itself. (Seeing as it can be read easily in the enclosure.)
Possibly the connector/the logic board it connects to?? I don't know, there's something broken inside my laptop, but just in case somebody out there has a solution, I'd be VERY grateful as it's my laptop I use for my university studies.
    Thanks!

Does your old drive work in your external enclosure?
The reason I ask is because I've had this problem, but it happened after I replaced the Hard Drive in my Early 08 MBP (MacBook Pro 4,1). Turns out, the i/o cable, where it attaches to the logic board, gets worn/brittle from heat and very easy to damage. The repair at the genius bar ran about $20 for the cable, but I had a generous genius who waived the standard labor fee after I gave him my sad story, so your milage may vary.
I should also note that the Hard Drive on that generation of MacBook Pro is not considered user upgradable, and your swap will negate your Apple Care, if you have it, until all the damaged components are replaced.
    Best of luck.

  • Stolen Macbook help

    Here's my situation
My macbook was stolen in a home burglary last week along with a array of valuable things. It is a 15 Inch Macbook Pro from 2009 with the latest OS (Yosemite). When I realized it was gone I immediately went onto Find my Mac and erased the contents of my mac remotely. When I did that I also entered a code so that I can unlock my mac if I ever found it. I found the serial number and reported it to my insurance company and the police. A day later, I got an alert telling me my macbook turned up around 16 miles from my location and gave me an exact address. I am in the process of filing a report with the city where my macbook was located on Find my Mac.
    Here's my questions
    1. Can I still track my macbook's location with Find my Mac even though now it has all the data permanently erased?
    2. Do the thieves still have a chance of using the stolen macbook even after having it erased? I mean, I did set a code and everything.
    3. Would Apple know my macbook was stolen if the thieves took it to a Apple Store for repair and checked the serial number.
    4. Could the thieves potentially reregister the Macbook under their name, lying that they got the macbook (legally) preowned, if so, how do I stop them?

    1. No.
    2. Yes.
    3. Only if they checked the serial number.
    4. No.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • HT1212 IOS7 password problems on iPhone & OS update problems on MacBook -- HELP!

I've updated IOS7 on my iPhone & I've been asked for my password, which I don't know (I actually don't think I set one).
I tried to sync iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook Pro, however the phone won't work without itunes 11.1 (which I seem to not have). I need to install OS 10.6 version or later on my MacBook Pro, however when I have tried to do so, I keep on being told I need a previous version. I tried 10.6.1 which doesn't work and can't seem to find 10.6.
I have no idea what I'm meant to do to get 1) my iPhone working and 2) update iTunes so it can eventually sync.
Someone help?! I'd be forever grateful!
    Thanks

Your Passcode problem is a different issue, but until you update your computer, & iTunes you will not be able to fix that.
An Apple store will restore your phone, or you can use another computer. Follow the directions here:
Force the phone into recovery mode, as described here, and restore it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    This will remove the passcode.
