Cd or dvd for downloading photos?

We would like to download the photos from our recent trip and are not sure if we should put them on a cd or dvd? Which is appropriate?

Does you daughter have a Mac and use iPhoto? If so then you can select the photos in iPHoto and use the Burn button at the bottom of the window. This will create a minin library on disk that your daughter can put in her Mac, open iPhoto and copy them into her library for use there.
If she doen't have a Mac then you select them in iPhoto and export them, as Format=Original, to a folder on the Desktop. Depending on the size of the folder you will insert a CD or DVD disk into the optical drive. Then drag the folder on to the disk icon on the Desktop and drag the icon to the Trash in the dock which will burn the photos to the disk.
If the size of the folder with the photos is less than 650 MB in size use a CD. Over 650 MB use a DVD.

That has nothing to do with styles nor Pages, it is a System/Printer Driver setting.
You can experiment to see if the Printer Settings stick with your document, but in the past this has not worked.

IPhone not making its own album for downloaded photos

Why iphone dont do this?
I always download lots of photo from different apps and why they all go to "Camera roll" instead of making a new album for the photos?
example. i downloaded a photo from viber, iphone should create an album named "Viber" on the Photo because the photo is from there and if its from facebook its named "Facebook" or from the internet "Download". If you guys know what i mean, because its like a trash can 1 basket with different things.
and what im asking is album of photos for each apps.
Is there a way or something that can do that?

I agree with you absolutely, I have the same problem and dont be sorry to compare with android, because Apple in his great wish to be very original loosing some quality on functional side. I become Iphone 5s user two weeks ago and day by day I notice more and more things that they are not right. And even here i dont see any wish from apple people to change something.

Is there a card reader that i can use in my Macbook USB port that will allow me to download photos onto my Macbook from a (Sony) Duo Pro Media Stick?

Hi,
I think you may need an adapter to get the card to mount in a card reader.
The small card fits in the adapter which makes it longer and then it should fit any USB reader the takes Sony memory sticks.

IMovie to iDVD shimmering problem on DVD for some photos

Created iMovie with photos and some video. Created DVD. DVD on Mac shows shimmering on some photos as well as on TV DVD player. Have asked many trainers in London Covent Garden and Regent St for solution. The answers are not consistant just try different things. They also mention other products, Toast, Final Cut and FotoMagic. Is there a definitive way to make sure the iMovies can be created without shimmering (many snow, sunshine scenes). Or product that fixes problem. Thanks in advance. Don't want to buy product and still have problem.

I am using I Photo to make slideshows and have been told IDVD used previously is not compatible.

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.

DVD for download (no disc)

I have a 2 hour video project. I want to distribute it via download only (no physical media). I want it to behave like a dvd. I'd like the user to download a dmg; when it mounts, there's an alias - they click and the dvd player launches and the main menu appears (no searching for TOS).
I know I should be using flash, but I don't know flash, and I'd rather not learn director right now - it's all about the video. I just want to add some navigation and the dvd authoring environment gives me more options than I could ever need.
The wrinkle: it's 1280x720 (24p) - but it's mac-centric material and I guess I'd be okay if it only played on Macs -
Is this a bad idea?

A number of problems. First if you want to use 1280x720 video your only choice is to create a HD DVD. A HD DVD will ONLY play on Macs (and a few now defunct Toshiba HD DVD players).
The next problem is that you have 2 hours of video. I haven't tested it, but it is very unlikely you will be able to fit 2 hours of HD content on a DVD. So you will either need to edit down the length of your video or lower the resolution to SD.
Then there is the problem of burning the DVD. You will have to create a .img file and then give very detailed instructions on how to burn a DVD. For a certain percentage of the population, this will be too complicated. They will find it too difficult and will give up. Of course they will then complain that you made it too difficult. They will want a simple, "double-click on this file and you are done" solution.

1. Hook your phone to your computer via the USB cable provided. Choose "USB Mode" on the phone when the connection is made.
2. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer, and find the phone. View the folders on the phone.
3. Look for a folder called "DCIM" and inside it "100PALM". This is where your photos and videos live.
4. Copy them to your computer.
5. As with any USB device, remember to "Eject" the phone (from right-clicking on the phone in Windows Explorer or My Computer) or stop the device using the "Safely remove Hardware" button in the bottom right tool tray in Windows.

Your photos are never "in" Lightroom. Lightroom utilizes a catalog, which is a database. The database keeps track of where the images are located on your computer system, and keeps track of all adjustments made in Lightroom to those images.Your images will not automatically "find their way" into Lightroom. The way images are added to Lightroom is through the import process. Importing will enable you to download files from a camera card and specify the folder where they will reside on your computer system. The import process will also enable you to add images that are already on your hard drive. Deleting those other programs will do nothing to your images.

Bluetooth is a wireless connection technology, but not a method for downloading photos. If you can get a Bluetooth connection between your phone and your Mac, try opening Image Capture (in the Applications folder) and see if it can import the photos. If not, try a wired connection. If you still have no luck, you'll need to talk to the phone manufacturer.

The absolutely FIRST thing you have to do is contact your clients webmaster and get the required specs: frame size, bitrate.
Then you can either export directly out of FCP or take a file into compressor and make it there.

The little "gear" symbol next to the words but it just goes round and round. Nothing ever downloads, and instead of showing me how many pictures there are to import it just says "No photos". So therefore I cannot import the photos to my library since they won't even download.
I was getting an error message a few days ago that my Iphoto library was getting full, so I emptied my trash in both Iphoto and on my computer. I had this same problem back in October and emptying the trash and getting rid of some photos did help (can I really be using that much storage space for the pictures?). But it didn't help this time.
Any suggestions as to what to do to solve the problem? I would try taking the SD card out and inserting that into the slot on the computer to see if I could load pictures that way; but the last time I did that, they wouldn't load. Not sure if I lost pics from the disc or not.

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.

I have an iPad 2 and would like to know how to download photos on iPad to an external memory card for printing purposes

I have an iPad 2 and have quite a lot of photos stored on the device. I would like to be able to download them onto an SD Card or a memory stick which would then allow me to go to a print shop and print out some hard copy prints of the photos I require.
I have seen some devices on the interent such as an iPad comera connector but this just seem to allow photos to be uploaded from a camera or an SD card to the iPad and not the reverse which I am trying to do.
I realise I can print them myself via AirPrint, but I would like more professional copies for a photo album I am compiling.
I am sure this should be quite a simple exercise but would like some advice on how to do this from the community.
