CD playback distortion with Audigy 2NX after XP SP2 and Creative upda

I have an Audigy 2 NX attached to a Dell Inspiron 8600 running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2.
Sometime after I installed Service Pack 2, the Audigy stopped functioning completely. I cannot say when, exactly, it "broke," as I have not used it for a while, but I suspect the problem was related to SP2.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Audigy software and then, using the "Software AutoUpdate" feature on your web site, installed the latest drivers, firmware and software. This process completed successfully.
The Audigy now "sort of" works. I am having problems playing CDs on the Inspiron's CD/DVD dri've. The output through the Audigy is distorted. This "distortion" is hard to describe. The Audigy seems to be "overloading," and the sound drops out briefly two or three times a second.
When I play MP3s through the Audigy, however, there is none of this overloading or distortion.
When I play CDs using the Inspiron's internal sound system, there is also no distortion.
I ran your diagnostics and no errors were reported.
Please let me know how I can go about fixing this problem as I would like to recover the Audigy's full capabilities.

Check your device manager IDE controller and ensure that DMA are enabled for the CD dri've.

Sound problems with audigy platinum after software upgra

After updating software (and then deleteing and redownloading) I had the usual sounds from windows but no sound in other programs. The eax environment was turned to no effects. When I added effects there was then sound. This would be OK in games but is annoying when listening to news broadcasts on AOL.
Any ideas?

Well now I'm confused alright. I told you I took out the TV tuner and everything seemed fine. Wrong! The system froze again while playing a DVD movie this time. Naturally I thought about the graphics card which is an Albatron FX 5200 (yes one of those about which NVidia appologised for their technical problems). So I opened the case and took the graphics card out and it was hot! I mean you could fry eggs on it. I checked the system's temperature and I got 58 degrees Celsius for the mainboard. I forgot to mention that I live in Greece and the atmosphere's temperature now is between 29 and 35 degrees celsius. Then I rememberd reading that the new FX series by NVidia are considered very bad graphics cards and besides everything they have cooling problems. So I stuck in my old graphics card (ASUS GEforce Ti 4200) and mounted an additional cooler fan on the case. Now the mainboard's temp doesn't rise over 49-50 degrees Celsius and until this time I haven't had any freezes. My guess is it wasn't the tuner after all. It was a temperature problem and since I'm working with programs that stress the CPU and Audigy to their limits (multiple music sequencing and audio mixing software) I have a good reason to believe that. So the FX 5200 is most likely to have caused it all. Needless to say that besides the extreme temperature the card has crappy performance as well no matter the 128 MB of RAM. I just hope I won't need any more fans to be able to work.

Cd distortion with Audigy c

I am getting distortion whenever a cd is played. If a sound file off of the hard dri've, or even a dvd is played, however, there is no distortion whatsoever. The distortion tends to build throughout the track, so that by about three minutes, it is very noticeable, and by 5 or 6, the track is very hard to hear.
The distortion happens in both cd dri'ves, and I have already tried cleaning them. This problem has persisted for a couple of years, and a complete replacement of the motherboard and hard dri've (motherboard died taking hdd with it), so it cannot be a result of virus or spyware.

I didn't know that a 4. Audigy was ever released. Anyway, uninstall the drivers and move the card to PCI slot 3 and manually remove the registry entries as follows:
. Delete the files from "\Creative".
2. Delete the following registry node from the registry
(a) HKLM\Software\Creative Tech\Software Installed
(b) HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall\5CDDF96A-BC34-4D72-9ABA-EFFF0C39977
Reinstall the drivers from the original driver CD, do not update any drivers just yet. See how that goes.

What settings see Audigy again after XP SP2 install rollbac

Help please, Win XP SP PC, Audigy just fine, then install SP2, access denied 50% of the way through, install does a rollback, warning that some things may not work so well, and its lost me my sound :angry:Tried registry fixes progs, Creative diagnostics say hardware not found, but PC is dual boot and under Win2K audigy works fine. No doubt some tick box or entry somewhere corrupted. I have tried reloading the software from the CD back on, tried also uninstalling from CD then reinstalling, tried uninstall from add/rem progs then new install. Have not removed card as working in win2K so not card seating problem.Ghost copied back on the copy I made of my boot dri've prior to messing about with fixes, then tried for a repair from CD. Hi John-CL,PC tailor made to my own specs, March 2004, Win XP home SP is PC, this was around then and I wanted everything ok for such. The Motherboard is an MSI 875P neo (lovely board great reviews) having come out circa that time, all latest for XP.Audigy 2 ZSDevice Manager also blank after that SP2 install failed, unable to fix that despite many forum postings by others with same problems usually resolved with permissions in registry.A lot of the XP issues seem to end up in there, permissions, admin etc.Don't suppose video card details matter here. HDs are Seagate Barracudas. ATA onto Raid.Hope this hel

Problems Getting to Sites After Installing SP2 and Dec CU

Our setup was running great for the last year and a half. We decided to install SP2 and the CU’s that had been released since. The updates and CU installs went fine. However, after the install we are having problems with users being prompted
with credentials. When going to any of the sites (not AAM) our users can get in fine. However, if we browse to one of the other sites we are continually prompted for credentials and can’t get in. For example, if I go to
App1 I get in fine but, when I go from App1 to App2 , I continually get prompted for credentials. If I start by going to App2 I get in fine but continually get prompted for credentials when going from App2 to App1. In addition, if I go to
any of the AAM’s I get in just fine. However, if I try to go to any other site after this, I get the credential prompts. It seems like an issue with the session.
I have looked through the event logs, used the trace utility, fiddler and tried changing the auth setting s with no luck, no apparent problems in the logs or detail.
Any advice or help would be appreciated. Again everything worked until we installed the updates

Sound distortion with Audigy

Hi all
First off, I have looked at the FAQ's and tried just about everything except a reformat.
I just bought a Sound Blaster Audigy SE card for a budget spec PC. The rough specs are:
AMD Sempron 2600+
ASRock K8 Upgrade-689 motherboard (supposedly with 7.ch onboard AC'97 audio)
52mb ddr ram
ASUS 9250 graphics card (64mb)
When i first put the PC together, the sound did have some distortion when booting up (the windows startup sound was slightly distorted/crackly) and other distortion when other programs were loading and i was playing music at the same time. I assumed this was normal for a relati'vely budget PC.
However, I decided to get the problem solved by buying a sound card to improve the sound quality, but after installing the Audigy SE (and downloading the latest drivers), the distortion has got worse, and almost any program that uses system resources to load will cause a lot of distortion. It's not as crackly, but the sound jumps and slows a hell of a lot when i do absolutely anything else when playing music, like open a browser for example. I seriously doubt there is a fault with the card itself.
I've tried a fresh install, tested my speakers (which are fine) and the onboard sound is uninstalled and disabled in BIOS. There are no conflicting resources with the sound card. Could there be a problem with my motherboard? Or is there a better way to increase the performance of the sound? I wont even get started on running a 3D game engine while sounds are playing... If any more info is required just let me know.

You can also check if
- onboard sound/game/midi is disabled
- there are IRQs/recources shared w/ sound card --> change Audigy into another PCI slot if there is sharing (see your motherboard manual for IRQ assiments)
- SRC and HW acceleration are set to MAX
- directX drivers are up to date
- codecs are up to date
- drivers are 'correctly' installed (re-install original drivers from CD by running the ctzapxx.exe -> do not uninstall anything but just install and tag the option asking yuor permission to write over current drivers)

Random Distortion with Audigy 2 ZS

I'm Running with a Audigy 2 ZS. Ive been having this problem for a while but was livable with till I just updated my driver. Now im get these random sound distortion issues constantly. Sometimes its just light and crackly, others its to the point where i cant hear anything... Doesnt matter what program im running it just happens. Driver is updated and everything used to work back in the day. Im running vista home premium. Anyone know any solutions?

I would recommend you try installing Daniel K.'s support pack 2.0 for the Audigy as there have been problems with the Creative drivers and Vista. I used all three of Daniel's packages with my audigy and I/O dri've and they worked well with no crackling of any sort on three motherboards.

Daniel fixed and customized these drivers for Vista, based on Creative Labs drivers and applications so they are not "broken" inside of Vista. Cheers mate! and I know these are the drivers that you want. The ones on the Creative Labs site are not as functional as these are. One thing I do though, is I install Daniel's package and then I install the newest Creative Labs driver on top of all that.

Midi/browser playback problem with Audigy 2 platinum (Cannot set Default Device for some reas

Currently I'm having problems playing back mid files in Mediaplayer and various other default programs. I can play midifiles in Winamp by setting it to the proper Directsound device. However in control panel/sound setup (MIDI music Playback), It only lists the MIDI Out Devices instead of the playback one and is defaulted on BLANK when I enter it. I have a feeling this is the main problem.
DX Diag plays back the midi fine. I have tried reinstalling the latest drivers and the drivers from the disc with no luck at all. Also the default language has been stuck on Japanese as well. Ok, well I did a clean sweep and clean reinstall of the drivers that fixed my language problem. However I cannot get the proper "Midi music playback" Default Device. Whenever I change it to something it reverts it to a blank no matter how many times I change it or uncheck "Use only default devices"
It does the exact same thing for "Voice playback"
I'm not sure if this is related but I don't get any sound from any web-browser Shockwave flash files.
This is really starting to get fustrating. Any help input would be greatly appreciated. I think the worst part about this is I know the midi works, it just won't let me assign the device....
Oh yeah, also even if I set the "place volume icon in taskbar" option in the sound and devices properties it wll not show. Not sure if this is related...Message Edited by zoglog on 06-23-2006 :44 PM

After reinstall the trial and installed the fullversion, everything is good. But when I started my PC this morning the Trial Software opened . Some brushes ( Smartbrush ) have no available functions. What can I do ? Whats going wrong? Can you help me ?

Close the Editor and then go to:
C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us
Delete the file:
Mediadatabase.db3
Then start the program again from the Editor shortcut or from the welcome screen by right-clicking and choosing “Run As Administrator”

Lenovo Ideacentre K410 won't boot with video card after OS crash and refresh

I purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre K410 from Fry's some time ago. It came with Windows 8. I added a GeForceGTX650. Everything ran fine until yesterday, when the system black-screened in the middle of a Windows 8 update. The update was running from the control panel. After the black screen, I finally got the system to boot again by removing the video card. Even then it said the OS was messed up and offered to refresh it. I allowed it to refresh the OS. Now Windows 8 boots, but not if I put the video card back in. Thanks!

It might be that the Video Card is Bad that caused the Crash,
The system prompt you for a repair since it was not turned OFF properly when the computer Crashed.
Have the GPU Card tested on another computer or try a different GPU on your system.

Apple restored my computer back to snow leopard however my backup was with lion. after much research and time i finally downloaded mavericks. i have now since migrated my files back onto my mac air which is running maverick. it has not restored my file

can anyone assist me to find my migrated files

If at the setup screen you used Migration assistant in conjunction with your Time Machine backup everything should be where you would expect to find it previously.

Problems with Start up after loading Parallel and adding Windows Vista

Everytime I start up my MacBook, I have to hold the option button down. Otherwise it goes into a booting up windows screen. How do I get the computer to go right to the Mac desktop, when starting up?

You have selected Vista as your boot OS.
In Leopard, open the System Preferences and under Startup Disk, select Mac OS X, 10.5.whatever and that will solve your problem.
You can also set the boot preference in Vista, but I am not sure exactly where. BootCamp installs a similar boot option in Vista or XP.

Exception with Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP2 and Export to Word/RTF

When I export a report (DataSource ADO.NET DataSet) with many records (in my case about 17000 but the records are stretched from about 370 pages to about 800 pages ), I get an exception:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Ungültiger Zeiger (German, English: Invalid pointer?)
When I dont't stretch the records (that means record by record without pagebreak) it works fine.
Any ideas?
I think the problem is the expected file size. When I export from the development enviroment the doc-file is 566 MB. Open this wiht MS-Word I get the Message: Word cannot open files > 512 MB.
Somehow the problem seams to depend on this fact.
Anyway, MS-Word cannot work with files > 512 MB. So I don't need to think about the problem further.

That is an interesting finding.
One thing you may want to try is FP 2.5. Perhaps the exported file will be smaller and thus let you export more pages(?). Other than that, keeping the file size down via selection formulas or smaller datasets will be the way to go.
