CD player CDX4000X quit?

Just bought a car with a nice looking Sony CD player in it. Only problem is that all it does is display SONY, then switch to RECEIVER, then CD and that's about it. Does some nice graphics too. The only button that works on it is the OFF button if I hold it in long enough. All the other buttons do nothing. It's as if it's stuck in a Display mode? Is that possible? I get no sounds and can't figure out how to get it to recognize the buttons. I did a Reset, but only lost the clock. It reset back to 1pm. Any ideas?
The previous car owner said it just started doing that a couple weeks ago, before that it was fine.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.

I have a football game recorded on a DVD+R disc that I was trying to view on my MacBook using DVD Player.  The video comes onto the screen, but immediately freezes, and then disappears.  An error message comes up saying that DVD player unexpectedly quit.  My MacBook operating system is Mac OS X, version 10.5.8.  DVD Player is App version 5.0.3, framework version 5.0.7.
However, the DVD+R works on both my Dad's and my brother's laptops.  My Dad's laptop is an iBook G4 with Mac OS X operating system, version 10.3.9.  The DVD Player is version 4.0.  My brother's laptop is a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X operating system, version 10.7.2.  The DVD Player is App version 5500.26.1 and framework version 5.5.0.  The DVD+R plays fine on their laptops, but will not play on mine.

    Lao Bo,
yes, you can locate and copy a file from your HD to a USB key using UNIX commands. If you know the exact name of the file which you’re trying to locate, try this:
    find / -iname filename -print
This command will search your entire internal disk for the particular filename. If you know that it’s within a particular user account, then you can save search time with this variation:
    find /Users/username -iname filename -print
Either variation of this command will print all files found which have the given filename. Presuming that you’re able to identify the correct file, you can copy it to a USB key using the command
    cp -p filename_returned_by_find /Volumes/USB_volume
If you’re not sure which volume name your USB key has, this command will show you what the possibilities are:
    ls /Volumes
Please let me know if you have any trouble with these commands.

  • DVD Player randomly quits when using closed captioning

I have been experiencing this issue on two different 10.4.11 machines, both intel. A MBPro and a Mini.
The DVD Player normally works fine, disc after disc, unless I turn on closed captions (not subtitles, but similar), then the DVD Player will quit randomly every 1-3 discs. I have done all the permission fixes and usual cache deletions, but nothing seems to work. I have also deleted preferences and plists on both machines.
The crash log is usually cryptic, and all I can discern is that thread "one" crashed.
Can anyone else reproduce this issue, or have other suggestions?

    Hi,
Try a different font... here's how: Customizing the look of closed captioning text
You can change the font and color of closed captioning text. You can also change the color and transparency of the closed captioning box for optimal viewing when the captions are displayed over the video.
Choose DVD Player > Preferences, and then click Windows.
In the Closed Captioned section, click the Text color button and select a color to use for text.
Click the Background color button and select a contrasting background color.
Drag the transparency slider to the right (lighter) or to the left (darker).
Choose a font from the Font pop-up menu.
You can customize the font size as well, but the size setting only applies to closed captioning in a separate window.

  • Flash Player unexpectedly quitting

I've been racking my brains on this for weeks with no
solution, so I hope someone here can help.
I have a browser-based SWF application that I created in Flex
    3. This is a digital signage application that runs almost 24/7 that
displays data on a monitor.... no user interaction involved. I
fetch the data from an XML file on a web server every 15 seconds,
and use that XML to display text and a SWF graphic, or activate a
"screen saver". It's used in an airport at the gate to display
    flight information.
The application works and runs just fine for a while...
anywhere from several hours to several days. Eventually, though,
the application quits working suddenly and the computer is showing
the desktop. When checking Window's Event Viewer, there is the
    following error message:
    quote:
    Error : The application, C:\Program
Files\HtmlDvc\HtmlDvc.exe, generated an application error The error
occurred on 08/06/2008 @ 20:11:41.093 The exception generated was
    c0000005 at address 301B1AC7 (
Flash9e!pcre_fullinfo) For more information, see Help and
    Support Center at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp
It's that "Flash9e!pcre_fullinfo" phrase that has me suspect
it's got something to do with the Flash 9 player. However, a Google
search for that phrase turns up nothing.
    Other points of interest:
The computers are running Windows XP
SP3, all cloned from the same setup.
They crash at different times of the
    day.
They run the most current release of
    the Flash Player.
The crash has been simulated both
using Internet Explorer as well as an AIR-created HTML viewer
    application I made.
I have the same app running in other
locations with no reported problems, though the computer configs
    are probably different.
I really need to figure this out. If we can't, then I'm going
to be forced to stop developing SWF code and create applications in
HTML, which I really don't want to do. :) Any clues would be
    appreciated.

  • My DVD player now quits whenever I attach a projector using Displayport to VGA

hHe player works fine if I disconnect the Displayport from the projector cable-- I can watch the DVD on my computer screen. But can't use a projector.  MacBook Pro with Maverick. Is this an OS bug?  Is there a fix?  I need to be able to project my DVD's!

Hi--thanks for the suggestion to change users.  When I did that the same problem happened--the DVD Player quit as soon as I attached the Displayport to the VGA connector for the Projector.
This seems to be clearly an OS problem--or at least a bug in the DVD Player.
When I use the VLC Player instead, I am able to play my DVD's without a problem thru the same projector using the Displayport VGA adapter.
Does Apple know about this bug?--it is not insignificant.  I am a teacher and using the computer to play DVD's for my students using an overhead projector is part of the job.  This should be a no-brainer for a Mac.
I had no problems with the DVD Player before I did the Maverick Update--it had worked fine.  So this seems to be a Maverick problem, and needs to be fixed.  Does anyone know if Apple is working on this....?

  • Panic problems, unexplained beep, and flash player keeps quitting

I just bought my first mac computer 3 months ago and was given a new one a couple weeks ago because there were some issues with the first mac but those issues were nothing compared to what's happening with this second computer.
First of all, I like to play an online game that requires Adobe Flash player. I played this same game on the first mac with no issues but now after playing a couple games in a row, it shuts down and says that Flash player quit. I uninstalled Flash player and reinstalled it and it seemed to be working better. I could play many more games but then it again shut down.
A friend of mine suggested I try playing the game using Firefox instead of Safari and in the middle of the game, it shut down but this time, instead of saying flash player had to quit, the computer started giving me continuous long beeps. I ended up turning the computer off and then restarted it and the beeps were gone.
My third issue is with the computer telling me I have to shut it down. I'll be in the middle of surfing the web and all of a sudden a box appears on the screen telling me to hold down the turn on button to shut the computer off.
I copied some of the reports issued after the problems I've encountered and can include them if it will help someone figure out what's wrong with this computer.
I'm on vacation for awhile without any Apple store near by or I'd bring this to them and see if someone could help so I hope someone here has some ideas on what's going on with this new computer.
It's a mac book pro, Intel Core i7 with 4gbs DDR 3 ram.

I don't know how to repair permissions
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.
Same directions are also in the OS Mac Help Menu.
TIP-You should Repair Permissions & restart:
After installing and/or updating an OS (Operating System).
    After installing software.
    After burning sessions.
I believe I must have the most up to date version.
    Check Flash Version
I'm out of town and using a network in the hotel I'm staying in. Maybe my mac doesn't like it.
Maybe but doubtful.  The real test would be to try wifi when you return from your vacation.  Kernel panics are an indication of hardware problems more so than software.
I actually bought my computer at Best Buy and took out their extended warranty.
Does not matter where you purchased a Mac.  All new & refurbished Macs are covered for one year from the date of purchase, first 90 days you get free phone tech support, and an additional 2 years (from the date of purchase) of free phone tech support if you purchased AppleCare.

  • Adobe Flash Player download quit unexpectedly

My computer said that I needed to download the newest update for Adobe Flashplayer. The update would not download on my computer because it said that my Mac Os x was not compatable with the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer. I did all the things I thought I might need to do to make that possible ie. updated my safari as well as uninstalled any previous adobe products in my computer.
After I did those things, I tried downloading it again, still not compatable with my computer. I gave up on ever downloading that version and started to find out how do download older versions of adobe flash player. I found an older verson on the adobe.com website and began to download it. I downloaded from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/. Now this link downloaded fine, however, when I press open when it prompts me to choose an option since it was downloaded from the internet, I click on open. Next that shows up is "Adobe Flashplayer quit unexpectedly, click retry, ignore, or report to apple". This continues even after I have clicked retry many times. Now I have no flash player and I can not do most things on the internet. Please help!

Are you using OS 10.5.8 and is your Mac a PPC or Intel?

  • Mac installing flash player, Flash quits unexpectedly when opened after download.

Can anyone help me with this?  Flash has been in use on my mac for a long time, but when I updated to 11 version it never worked right, and kept using older version to play games etc.. and I updated to flash 12, the flash program quits unexpectedly when I open it after downloading it.  It prompts to send error report to apple, and will not run flash player.  I troubleshoot and have uninstalled all following those steps and still cannot run an installed file of flash.  I tried to install earlier versions, 10.3 and others all quit unexpectedly  version flash 9 is outdated and cannot be downloaded.  I now have NO FLASH PLAYER at all and cannot figure out what is happening !   ANY INSITE would be apprecialted  thank you

Doing the COCOA install isn't that tough.
Download the FULL Installer: Flash Player 12 Plug-in (Mac OS X)
Save the file and Quit Safari.
    Double click the downloaded file
and it will mount on your desktop,
and open a window with the installer.
Right click the installer and choose "Show Package Contents"
In Contents/Resources, double click the Adobe Flash Player.pkg file
The installer will open. Follow the instructions.
It'll ask for your Admin password, and it will install.
    It's just that easy.

  • Quicktime player quietly quits: how fix/replace?

    Hi,
QuickTime Player application (running on Snow Leopard) is quietly quitting whenever I try to run it (and without playing anything).
It doesn't matter if I double-click it in Applications, or drag a .mp3 or .mov file onto the app in a Finder window, or if I right-click a .mp3 or .mov file and choose "QuickTime Player" ... in all cases, there's no visible sign that QuickTime actually started.
I confirmed, by checking the access date on the program file (well within the .app structure, of course), that attempts to run it *do* touch that file ...
If I use the Terminal and navigate down to /Applications/QuickTime Player.app/Contents/MacOS
and then try to run "QuickTime Player" program, I get:
2012-04-13 16:55:01.348 QuickTime Player[4911:903] Unable to load nib file: MainMenu, exiting
    (see below)
The "QuickTime Player" folder app is dated Feb, 2012.
    BTW, file "QuickTime Player" shows:
QuickTime Player: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
       QuickTime Player (for architecture x86_64):          Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
QuickTime Player (for architecture i386):          Mach-O executable i386
    which looks fine.
It used to work (a month or two ago?)
    I've rebooted.
I've run "Software Update" ... it won't find it or update it.
I've deleted it, then run Software Update ...ditto.  (I then restored it via Time Machine.)
I went to the QT download page ... reading between the lines, it appears that QT download is available only Leopard and earlier.
I tried it anyway ... the app won't install, saying "QuickTime X" is already present.
I looked around, and found a version of QuickTime Player in a sub-folder ("Video Stuff") in my Applications folder ...
when run, it reports it's: QuickTime Player 10.0 (128), and the .app folder is dated June 27, 2011.
But it does seem to work, overall!
BTW, if I run this old QT from Terminal (from within the .app folder), I get:
2012-04-13 17:08:34.442 QuickTime Player[5157:903] .sdef warning for argument 'FileType' of command 'save' in suite 'Standard Suite': 'saveable file format' is not a valid type name.
    ...but it does work.
    thanks,
    Stan

    640 x 480
    Widescreen 16:9
These settings are contradictory. Please post a screen capture image of the QT "Inspector" window to confirm what encode matrix setting, PAR display setting, and Scale display settings are actually embedded in your file. Also please confirm whether or not the source material was widescreen and it is 4:3 aspect you wish to correct at this point. If not, then please state the height at which the transcoded file was encoded and the target aspect ratio at which you want files to play in all media players.
Once compressed it plays back in Windows Media Player as 16:9 video.
When played back with Quicktime it is squished into a 4:3 format.
Different players dispay content aspect differently.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
QT 7, for instance, displays the file using specific Scale dimensions and if these dimensions are not equivalent to PAR/anamorphic playback settings, then the file can display differently in differently media players. As to fixing the problem, that depends on which setting you are trying to fix and what platform/software is available.

  • Flash player just quits working fix

Recent malware infection causes flash player to fail?  The kill-bit problem noted in this posthttp://forums.adobe.com/message/3432049#3432049  fixed it for me.
    Just thought I'd share.

    Note :
This issue has been solved by completely uninstalling the CA Security Suite (previousl known as VET) from this i7 64 bit system and by an Adobe Technician completly uninstalling the latest version 11 and reinstalling 10, although it did not work just by doing that.

  • DVD Player unexpectedly quits on launch

Can someone help me get the Apple DVD Player back up and running? I'm not even sure why the player is not working. Maybe because of one of the latest updates? I'm running 10.4.6, DVD Player 4.6.5 with all of the latest updates.
    Thanks!!

One thing to try is to delete the preference file: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist .

  • Full Screen Player Crashes/Quits in Win Server 2003

I have an application that runs as a projector and is meant to run full screen in a kiosk. However, when the app is expanded to full screen it crashes and I get an error message of:

If I run it in a web browser and try to go full screen the same thing happens. I've been all over the web and haven't found anything. Have uninstalled virus software thinking it might be a problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like it could be a bad video driver? Have you tried to see if there's an updated video driver for that system?

  • Quicktime player quit unexpectedly

ignore report relaunch......i've tried all three. I kept getting a bouncing Q wanting me to update, so I clicked on it to go ahead. Now I just get a message saying that the quicktime player has quit unexpectedly and won't affect other application....do I want to ignore, report, or relaunch. I've tried relaunching, but the same message just keeps popping up over and over again. Now I can't watch any of my slide shows and home made movies. WARNING....I'm not a computer person and got this macbook because everyone said it would be simple for a 50 something person like me. I've had it two years and admit to having windows installed on it as well...which is what I use primarily.

It may be that somehow the prefs file has been corrupted.
navigate to 'your Home folder'/Library/Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
drag the last file "QuickTime Preferences" to the Trash. Do this with QuickTime not running at the time. Now when you launch QuickTime it will produce a new file like the one you just deleted and hopefully everything will work hunky dory.
In case you don't understand, click on the Finder in your Dock. It will open a window. Click on the icon on the left side of that window that looks like a house and has your account name. Next double click the folder called 'Library' in the window that just opened. Now double click the folder called 'Library' in the window that just opened. Scroll down the list of this last window until you find "QuickTime Preferences" and drag it to the Trash.
