CD player: uhh... is this what I think it is?

I've noticed that my CD drive has a headphone jack and volume control on it. At one point I tried plugging my headphones into the jack, turning up the volume on the volume control, and playing an MP3; I wasn't surprised that I didn't hear a damn thing, even with CD Audio at maximum, External Amplifier on, and the CD input properly plugged into my mobo. What came as a surprise was that I didn't hear a damn thing when I tried the same little experiment, but played the music from a CD.
So, what's the use of the little built-in jack and amplifier? I assume they're not vestigial... Anyway, as long as they're there, is there a way I can use them? It would be nice to have a functional audio jack at the front of my computer...

IIRC that's a hold-over from "the old days" - I think if you have that stupid little cable from your CDROM to your sound card it might work...

There is no "flash player similar to Adobe Flash Player". Flash is a proprietary Adobe product. There is currently no version of Flash for iOS.

I don't know how I could have made my question any more clear -- so let me try approaching it the other way around, and refer back to your answer(s).
You've been responding by saying that it's okay for me to remove the Creative Cloud versions of my software, but I don't have any Creative Cloud versions installed! I'm not talking about that at all, I'm talking about the software for Creative Cloud itself -- I don't use it, I don't need it, I don't want it, and all it does is nag me, telling me that there's updates for it (Creative Cloud). I have the full Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard bought and paid for, I have no reason nor need to "rent" any later versions, I'm just talking about the Creative Cloud software itself that got installed on my system when I installed that suite of programs.
Like I said, I don't use Creative Cloud at all -- all it does is "nag" me, and eat up space on my hard drive. When I go in my Windows Control Panel and look at my list of installed programs, there it is -- "Adobe Creative Suite" -- and it's listed separately from "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard" (of which I've only installed Photoshop, Acrobat and InDesign, basically, as those are the only programs I use at all at the moment). Can I just uninstall "Adobe Creative Suite" without it affecting "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard", i.e. my Photoshop, etc. will still work just fine, and I can still get updates and stuff? And by "updates" I don't mean get later versions of Photoshop, etc., I just mean any possible updates to the software that I do already have (that comes with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard).

What does "it" mean? Are you referring to Apple's mail application? The best you could do there is find the message in your junk mailbox and click the "not junk" button on top. Otherwise, it depends completely on your email provider.

What iOS is curently on your iPod (Setting>Genral>About>Version) you need as lest 2.0 for apps but most apps need 3.0 or later.

DVD 6.0.3 problems--- Is this what other folks are experiencing?

Up until recently, I've had absolutely no problems burning DVDs w/iDVD and now suddenly, it's not working. It goes through the entire process and then says there were errors burning to DVD. The DVD appears blank.
Reading through the posts, it sounds like I am not alone. However, I think I may have narrowed the problem down and wonder if this is what others are experiencing.
If you use a Theme 6.0 menu and click to see the menu tree, are you getting those little caution signs, saying "Menu has empty drop zones"?
Oddly, this error message appears for more menus using the first theme than say, the Watercolor theme.
When I search under "Project Info", the project duration length appears right and the Media scrollable list looks good, however the Track Bar shows nothing. Clicking between Best Performance and Best Quality changes the amount of data for the DVD Capacity bar, but still nothing on the Track bar.
Burning a disc image from iMovie seems to work and burning movies directly through Toast is also working, leading me to believe it's an iDVD problem.
So... is this what others are experiencing? And, even more importantly, are there any solutions/workarounds?

you cannot burn a disc image thru iMovie however you can back up an iMovie project to DVD-R media.
The two are vastly different (the latter won't play in a standard set top dvd player).

I downloaded a PDF file about a week ago and am stumped on how i can make it play. it is a PDF with audio clips to help learn a language. the file opens fine but whenever i click the audio it says "acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip: Adobe's Windows built in media player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system. " i googled and came to a few differrent threads on this site, someone said they resolved it with quicktime, so i got quicktime... no use. then someone else said its a problem with "legacy media" and id have to go into my preferences in adobe and allow it, i didnt see an option to "allow" but i saw one where i could pick how i wanted to play it (quicktime, windows built in, windows media player, and i think one more) i tried with all of them and still no luck. i really .want this file to play, but since i am not tech savvy, i am stumped as what i can do next. please help

If you bought the iphone in the US and it is locked to a specific carrier, then you can't use a different sim (from another carrier). Is this your situation?

Well going by your standards then the blackberry playbook is just as useless since there is no native contacts app or email app. If you want that you will also have to have a blackberry phone that is capable of tethering using the blackberry bridge app (if allowed by AT&T and Verizon since that would be another fee technically you might be charged for since you will be tethering your phone to you tablet).
Funny how I and many others are able to get by using the iPad and we don't have flash. The majority of people if the want to view flash will try Skyfire, iSwifter, Cloudbrowse, or will look to see if there is an app already dedicated to that thing you want to watch, like ABC Player or CNN.
Hey if doesn't work for you then it doesn't work for you. I am not trying to come off as an Apple fanboy, just trying to make sure you are informed about your product and what options are out there.
Would it be nice if flash was allowed native......sure. But it isn't so you can either get rid of the product, get an app that supports it (we are talking about spending $2 - $4) or go buy something else and hope your happy with it as well. You can't please everyone. Apple has chosen their stance and as you can see by sales numbers they aren't hurting. Infact i just read about a week or so ago on Gizmodo.com that alot of the other tablet making companies are cutting back on the number of units they will be making due to low sales or projected low sales (you can thank the iPad sales for that). Your one purchase isn't going to impact them that much. Instead, someone else will be standing in line behind you ready and happy to get their apple product.

DSL working poorly, is this what is to be expected?

I've had Verizon DSL internet for several years now. As my family has added more computers and devices and started using the internet more, we have had more and more issues with our service. If 3 or 4 of us are all using computers or some devices with wifi at once, especially if someone is streaming video, the router tends to freeze up and has to be reset (shut off and back on) before everything will work again. Sometimes we've had to do this several times in a day. Now I just got an Ipad Air at Christmas, and it likes to randomly drop my wifi connection. My router is fine and the wifi isn't down, it just drops the connection and I have to connect again. I don't think it is an issue with the Ipad, because I've spent time at other locations (including several days at my in-laws where they have internet through their cable provider), and I haven't had a problem like this anywhere outside of my own house. Is there something I can do to fix this? Is this the best I can expect out of DSL? I'd love to switch to FIOS, but it isn't offered in my area. I'm ready to switch to Comcast if this doesn't improve.
