CD recorded on GarageBand

Hello GarageBandits. If anyone is interested in an example of some music recorded using GB, I have just finished my first EP, No One recorded entirely in GB. It's available here:
www.myspace.com/nolansongs *the EP's first song, Fine, will automatically play when you visit this page
It's basically acoustic rock - Crowded House sort of sound. I used real guitars, GB's onboard guitar effects, a MobilePre USB interface, and some third party instruments including EZ Drummer, as well as some GB virtual instruments.
I love this program; I bought my first Mac because of it, and now I am a convert. Anyway, if you have a listen and have any questions, please let me know.
I know it seems like a bit of shameless self-promotion, but at the same time, I figured people who are mucking around with the program may be genuinely interested in hearing someone else's stuff recorded on GarageBand.
Thanks.
eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

Sound Check doesn't always lower the volume of playback, but can raise it as well, depending on the characteristics of the source file. So, if enabling Sound Check for playback results in the kind of volume you want in the end product, then my advice would be to enable Sound Check in your Burning preferences to burn the CD in question.

  • How do I use optical input for recording in Garageband 9?

    Hi,
I'm trying to use the Optical Line Input on my G5 for recording in Garageband, using a MOTU 828. I have the 828 optical output connected to the optical audio input on the G5, and I have Digital In (Optical digital-in port) selected in system preferences/sound. But in Garageband preferences, optical or digital input is not among my choices. If I select system setting or built-in audio 2, I get no signal. If I select MOTU 828, it defaults to the analog master outputs on the 828.
I am a Logic 8 user, and I'm able to select the optical input in Logic with no problem. I have my MOTU audio setup set so that the optical output is the default output, but Garageband still seems to use the analog output. I can tell by the record level, which is considerably louder for analog than for optical.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

create a new fla, add btn and add the code i suggested.  test.

: how can I import mp3s from my gmail account into my iTunes application so that I can import audio for recording into GarageBand ?

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

  • Downloading records to Garageband

I don't know what version of garageband I have --whatever came with OSX.4.6
I recently purchased Instant music and feel pretty confident that I have it hooked up correctly -- when I play a record I can see that it is recording in Garageband but I don't hear anything -- the window for garageband has a line for volume on the right hand side but it is gray -- how do I change this?
Once I can record/and hear my recording-- how do I move it to itunes so I can copy it to a cd
    thanks

Turn "Monitor" on in Track Info.
How you export to iTunes depends on what version of GB you have.

  • How can I record with GarageBand 1.3 in the background using other app?

How can I record with GarageBand 1.3 in the background using other app?
I use iPad 2 with iOS 6 and GarageBand v1.3.
I'd like to play an other app like Sunrizer synth while the GarageBand is recording in the background in a track.
By now I can do it only using the build-in mic of iPad, but this is not the point.
Can I record other apps in a GarageBand track?
Thanks a lot for your time.

I suspect you are probably correct about the reasoning, although there are already a myriad of ways to do that.
Don't get me wrong - I never said I like this. But it is consistent with other Apple applications, that are similar restrictive; you cannot take a screenshot, when dvd-player is running for example.
That are the moments, when I am glad that MacOS X is a unix system under the hood

This is probably one of the files that is required by the template you are using.
These files are inside the iWeb app. Control click the iWeb app icon and select "Show package contents".
You need to dig down through the folders and files to find what you want...
    Contents/Resources/da.lproj/Templates/
If the file is missing you would need to re install the iWeb app...

  • What to buy to record on garageband?

What to buy to record on garageband?
Do I need something by M-Audio to record vocals or guitar on garageband?
Maybe not NEED but would be good to have?
I haven't received my first Mac yet, but it'll be here in a few days. It's a G5 off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT Bottom of page.
I want to be ready to use GB.
What would you recommend that I have externally?
    Thanks...seriously...thanks.
    JG

That's kind of a big question. It depends on what you're recording and what kind of results you want and what your budget is.
While M-Audio is a respected brand you certainly don't need any one particular brand. In some cases you can plug directly into the Mac's line-in. Of course you get better results and more flexibility with an interface, particularly if you use a microphone.
Check zzSounds, Sweetwater, MusiciansFriend, for Audio Interfaces. You want to consider USB vs. Firewire, how many inputs, do you need phantom power for a condenser mic, etc.
Check out the PreSonus Firebox and the Inspire, or the M-Audio Firewire Solo, or their USB FastTrack. (Firewire is generally more reliable overall but a bit pricier.)

  • How to record on GarageBand with a mixer

    So hey,
after I've solved my problem with how to connect my mixer to my mac, there's another problem that came out.
I'm trying to record on GarageBand and when I do the first track all seem good. But then if I try to record to a second track it automatically records all the previous tracks as well. I have the output of the mixer to my external usb sound card's input and vice versa and on the mixers phones I have my speakers plugged in. Is something wrong with the connections I've made? Any help would be good! Thanx!
    The mixer: Behringer Xenyx 802
    The mac: MacBook (new)
The sound card: Hama C-media USB Audio Devise
    The speakers: Logitech z323

Because the vocals are being recorded as a real instrument you wont be able to record it and drag the track to in a way extend the sound as you can with other tracks. Other tracks you can as they are already installed in the garageband database. If you want a longer real track then the only eway is to play or sing for a longer amount of time.

I am trying to record in Garageband. I have a mic plugged in to my Avid Mbox and the Mbox into my Mac. The levels on the microphone keep automatically going down, during recording. This even happens when I set the track volume. What could this be cause of this?
    Thank you

This causes problems for me. When I place a single .mbox file into a new folder and import that folder I get the following dialogue:
When I click 'continue' I get a new import folder, but the formatting is a garbled nightmare of seemingly random subdirectories upon subdirectories:
Each of the subdirectories under "ASV" should have just contained messages, not lots of embedded subdirectories. Am I doing something wrong?
P.S. I am trying to move mail from an iMac running 10.7.5 to a new iMac running 10.10.1

  • Trouble recording on garageband from a midi keyboard??  Help please

When I am recording onto garageband from a midi keyboard, if I play more than one note at a time, the entire program goes crazy and makes crazy sounds and sustains notes way longer than I intend them.  I cannot figure out what is going on?

I have the exact same problem.  endless sustain and all the notes blur together on track.  Just posted the problem.  I dont know the fix.

  • Converting cassette to cd using garageband.  Voice on cassette sounds like chipmunk.  Is there a way to fix the speed during recording on garageband, so the voice sounds normal?

Librarian Asst. needs your help!  Trying to preserve WWII veteran's interviews presently on cassette.  However, on one cassette the voices sound like chipmunks (speed too fast during recording).  I know how to transfer the cassette recording onto garageband.  I just don't know how to transfer the recording at a slower speed, so that the voices will sound normal.  Is there a way?  Please help.  Thanks.

You could try two things (sorry, I can only point you to the current settings in GB'11, since I no longer have GB '09) but it should be very similar.
The easiest thing would be, if the vocal transformers do work. You can change the pitch of a voice using a "Vocal Transformer" effect. Click the "Edit" tab in the "Info" panel and click an empty brick to add a filter:
If that does not work, try to change the timing of the track. Enable "Follow Tempo&Pitch". If GB '09 does not have "follow tempo & pitch", record your tape directly into a Real Instrument track in GB to record a purple region.
Use the tempo slider in the LED display to lower the tempo, till the recording does sound more natural.
    Good Luck,
    Léonie

  • Can a Macbook Pro Dualcore 2,4 ghz handle 8 track simultaneous recording in Garageband?

Can a Macbook Pro Dualcore 2,4 ghz handle 8 track simultaneous recording in Garageband?
I am looking to buy a used Macbook Pro Medio 2010, with a 2,4 Intel Core Duo, 6 GB Ram and a 120 Gb SSD harddrive.
I am mostly going to be recording drums, with 8 individual channels + midi (More likely only 6 channels at a time though)
Is this powerfull enough to record 8 tracks at the same time without any significant hicups?

I was floored on how good the ipad did. The DAW I was using has a cpu meter and I was barely pushing it.
