CD ripping leading to loss of songs.

Hi, I am having some problems with my   itunes library. I recently ripped a cd that I bought at a store onto my   itunes. During the process a window came up asking me if i wanted to replace any of the songs that I orginally had on itunes with the songs from the CD. I clicked "yes" figuring that i would have the professional version of the few songs that i already had on my itunes. After i did this i synched my ipod. When doing this a window came up saying that " itunes cannot sych these songs because the song file cannot be found". It listed 100 or so incidents clicked okay wondering why and ejected it.Suprising when i can listen to music on my ipod that the computer claims cannot find yet not on the computer. After that i looked at my itunes music. Next to every few songs (i have about 3000 songs) was an "!" sign. When i clicked on the song a window comes up saying that "the song file cannot be found." This is very suprising because ripping one cd seemed to affect many different artists and songs.

This has also happened to me before, but i managed to solve it. Apparently, the songs literally cannot be found on your Mac. So you have to insert the CD again and instead of importing the songs, you have to put a copy on your Mac. Tried it and it worked for me.

  • How do I delete the silent lead in to a song on Garageband 10.0.3 without the automation getting out of sync?

I want to delete the dead bars that lead in to a song I have recorded on Garageband 10.0.3 so I can mix it to MP4.  I tried doing this using Arrangement, simply deleting the bars, but this leaves the automation out of sync.  How should I do this?

Try the option "Move Automation with Regions" in the "Mix" menu.

  • Ripping several musics as one song o

Hello. I have a MUVO V200 that has a liomit of 500 songs. How can I rip a group of songs as only one to "cheat" the V 200? If I can do so, I will have much more songs inside, despite having the same 500 files. Thank you. Lu?s

No. The limit is really 500 songs; I have ripped an li've album that (I don't know why) came from the factory with one track only.
It has a full show, with a lot of songs, but it generated single file, as the original CD. So in my MuVo it counts as file, despite it has almost 30 Gb of size (ripped at 64 kpbs).
That's why I said I want to "cheat my MuVo". That's why I want a program that rip a lot of songs in file only. If I can't read each single song by itself like they said in previous reply, I don't mind because I can use the full capacity of my player.
Sorry for my english, I hope you understand what I mean.

  • Loss of songs when updating from I-Tunes

I had about 30 songs on IPOD Nano and in library of I-Tunes. Bought nine more songs from I-Tunes. The computer told me the new songs were in a different place and did I want the new file to me the main location of songs. I clicked yes.
The 30 songs were deleted (I can't find them) and I can only see the nine new songs in my Library. Updated my IPOD Nano and the 30 songs are no longer there and the nine new songs are.
Please advise on what happened and how to consolidate the 30 old songs and the nine new ones.

There are two ways to update your iPod and its music. Automatically and manually.
You were updating automatically. This means the iPod's library will look exactly like the iTunes library is is updating with. By clicking yes, you told the iPod to look exactly like the other computer (which didn't have your other 30 songs on it).
See this if you want to use your iPod with two computers...
    Using iPod with multiple computers
You would want to manually update...

Now, are those songs on your original computer? They were deleted off of your iPod but should still be on your computer.

  • IPod problems...loss of songs..not recognizing..slow...

Well here is my most recent problems...and yes, i've had many before...
My iPod has been acting up lately...even after i sent it away to Apple, they apparently did not fix it up to the standards i'd wish....i assume i'll need to send it in again and reccomend they just send a new one
anyways....it has been going slow when transfers from itunes, and will freeze up on some transfers. Then many songs on the iPod will not play or will only play a portion then skip over it and other songs.
Then recently, i went to plug the ipod into my pc and add some music, when the ipod said it no longer recognizes the songs already on my iPod and i couldn't add any to it.
Resetting hasn't seemed to work, and i can't restore because the updater app won't ever recognize that the it is either plugged in or it just freezes up or something....i dont know what to do...
any help will be greatly appreciated...and swift responses would be great...i may be able to take it back tomorrow if it needs to be...
    thanks again

    It's just guesswork of course

  • Random loss of songs

I went to play some music from my iPod Touch today, only to discover that the majority of my library was gone. Poof! I had recently downloaded quite a bit, and all of my very recent downloads appear, but none of the older purchases and none of the music that I added from my own CDs.
This iPod has NOT been synced for a while due to a computer that fried during an electrical storm, and the fact that I've lacked the motivation to get a new computer up and running.
I do still have the hard drive from the old computer; what are my chances that my (fairly extensive) library can be transferred to the new computer?

  • 2.01 Upgrade leads to loss of bluetooth function?

I had a clean upgrade to 2.01 last night, but discovered this morning that my phone will no longer pair with any bluetooth devices that it did before the upgrade.
I've tried removing the devices and re-adding them, but this still doesn't fix the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any solutions?
    Thanks!

For the Bluetooth problem, I suggest first resetting your SMC:

As for the TC problem, try resetting the router and see if that helps.

  • Upgrade OS to 10.9.1 leads to loss of internet connection

Last week I downloaded OS10.9.1 onto my iMac.  Before the download I used the iMac with use of airport wireless.  I also used the same wireless service for my MacBook, iPad and iPhone 3 GS.  After completing the OS10.9.1 download, when the iMac was on the internet (using airport wireless), my wireless internet service WAS NOT available for my other Mac products.  The other iMac products showed they were receiving a wireless signal, however no internet service was available through Safari and I was unable to connect to iTunes.  However once I turned off the iMac, the wireless internet became available for the other Mac products.  Once I turned the iMac back on, the wireless service again WAS NOT available for the other Mac products.  I read through other discussions, however none seemed to match my situation.  Any suggestions to correct the situation?  Thanks ahead do time!

Check if Internet Sharing as been enabled with the update, if so turn it off.
This shows how to turn it on, just disable it to turn it off.

  • Factory reset leads to loss of apple id

Had a reset to factory settings- can't do facetime because apple ID isn't found.  Says it doesn't exist... then try to create it and says it does exist.  Duh- it has since July.  But I can't receive e-mail password reset, and doesn't recognize the security questions as correct.  I don't want to create a dummy e-mail to make a new apple ID so I can do facetime.  Why would it tell me that the apple ID is available, then let me go through and fill in all the info just to tell me it already exists?!?!?

Why that is happening to you makes no sense to me either. Sometimes restarting the iPad or resetting it can work wonders and reset everything to make it work correctly again. It's worth a shot.
Restart the iPad by holdinag down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You can also try signing out of your account and then sign back in again. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap on the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and go back to Settings>Store>Sign in.

  • HT1386 how can i get all of my music transferred to my iphone? only itunes purchased songs will transfer, not my whole library.

How can i transfer my itunes music library to my iphone? currently it will only transfer itunes purchased songs and not my whole library.

For non-purchased music like CD rip music, or website downloaded songs, you need some third party software to copy the music from iPod to mac. If you need details, here is a guide about how to get music from iPod to macbook. Hope it helps.

  • Can't play songs on iPod 80Gb Classic.

Newbie to iPod. Former PC/Windows 2nd level support officer. Have brand new iPod bought duty free. Tried to load iTunes, but couldn't. Error message "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured." It goes on to tell me to try later on. Searched on the error message in Google and visited several forums. As suggested, uninstalled Quicktime and purged registry of anything Apple with the exception of directly iPod related stuff. Puerged PC of ALL unnecessary files. Tried to install again with same result. One forum suggested Winamp as an alternative. Purchased and installed Winamp Pro. Getting to know the program, managed to rip and play a few tunes, but playlists weren't working. Purged iPod of all music (not control files!) and have successfulley ripped and synched about 600 songs onto the iPod in MP4/LC-AAC Encoder v1.28 format. Cannot play these songs on the iPod. It shows them as "now playing", but there's no movement on the progress bar or on the time countback. If I hit the play button and hold the iPod to my ear, I can hear the drive spin up, then stop. Can play files on the iPod on my PC. Hard drive must be OK, as I can synch to it.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

I was having similar issue. Songs would play to a specific point, then immediately skip to next song at same point in song everytime. All the songs I was having this issue with were MPEG Layer 1. I highlighted the songs in my library, converted them to AAC, deleted the MPEG-1 songs off I-Pod Classic, then re-loaded the converted AAC files to IPOD. That solved the problem. I don't notice any difference in sound quality either. I was worried they would be "re-compressed" by doing this, but can't tell any difference if they were. I have not loaded the new firmware, as I've been reading about all kinds of problems with it. The Classic manual on the Apple Support site shows this:
iPod classic doesn’t support WMA, MPEG Layer 1, MPEG Layer 2 audio files, or
    audible.com format 1.
If you have a song in iTunes that isn’t supported by iPod classic, you can convert it to a
format iPod classic supports. For more information, see iTunes Help.

  • Creating MP3 formats with songs in iTunes library

How can I Rip with Microsoft Media Player songs in itunes library without burning them to CDs? I want to do it by jump drive and have album art and song titles and other info so I can download them by jump drive to my car's hard drive.

Sounds like you might know an answer. I want to import/store my cd music ONCE - preferably in itunes for the playlist ability. But when I import in iTunes from CD, I can only create audio CD. iTunes does not allow me to create an mp3 cd. I don't want to import/copy twice in two formats so I can create either audio CD or mp3 cd. With a windows based non iTunes program, I could do this easily - import once; create cd's in different output formats. The only problem was I didn't have the nice playlist capability. Am I wrong thinking iTunes is supposed to make it EASIER to import, store, and rearrange my collection?

  • Playing songs in library that were downloaded from CDs

When I try to play songs in the library that I have downloaded from CDs, I get the following message: "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" If I say "yes", then it leads me to the song in the the ITunes folder and it will play it from that file, but it will not play direct from the library without leading thru this process. This only happens with songs downloaded from CDs and not from songs purchased thru the Music Store. This problem also doesn't allow me to move those songs to a playlist. Any idea how to somehow get the Library to recognize these songs location??? Thanks for any help.

If you are not using iTunes Match, then you have to sync the songs to your iPhone. Please have a look into this one:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386?viewlocale=en_US
With iTunes Match (a paid 1-year-subscription) you can upload them into the iCloud and download them directly to the new iPhone.
