CD ripping (sort of) help need

Hello all, I have a 20 gig Touch I bought mainly for transferring CD's to, but I have an irritating problem. Whenever I play a CD through the Touch software or Windows player I get a Kind of crackling sound that lasts for about 30 secs. which sounds similar to the start of a vinyl record. Obviously, this sound is then picked up if I rip the CD to transfer. This happens on brand new discs so I don't think my CD's are the problem and I don't get the crackling when I use a normal CD player. I have tried cleaning the CD's and the laser pick-up on my computer to no avail. Just wondered if anyone else who rips CD's as had this problem or if anyone else has any helpful suggestions that would be great!

I think there's most likely just an issue with the CD-ROM digital audio extraction. The most likely cure will be getting a new CD-ROM, but it might also be an issue with the motherboard as well.
It's difficult to know for sure unfortunately.

Well, if you simply want to sort the file names themselves, build a List and then call Collections.sort(). String already has a comparator built-in that will sort them ascending for you.
If you want to customize things, write a Comparator. Then call Collections.sort().

Urgent help needed with un-removable junk mail that froze Mail?
I had 7 junk mails come in this morning, 5 went straight to junk and 2 more I junked.
When I clicked on the Junk folder to empty it, it froze Mail and I can't click on anything, I had to force quit Mail and re-open it. When it re-opens the Junk folder is selected and it is froze, I can't do anything.
I repaired permissions, it did nothing.
I re-booted my computer, on opening Mail the In folder was selected, when I selected Junk, again, it locks up Mail and I can't select them to delete them?
Anyone know how I can delete these Junk mails from my Junk folder without having to open Mail to do it as it would appear this will be the only solution to the problem.

If you hold the Shift key when opening the mail app, it will start up without any folders selected & no emails showing. Hopefully this will enable you to start Mail ok.
Then from the Mail menus - choose Mailbox-Erase Junk Mail . The problem mail should now be in the trash. If there's nothing you want to retain from the Trash, you should now choose Mailbox- Erase Deleted Messages....
If you need to double-check the Trash for anything you might want to retain, then view the Trash folder first, before using Erase Junk Mail & move anything you wish to keep to another folder.
The shift key starts Mail in a sort of Safe mode.

There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

I've created a PHP web application in Dreamweaver, which uses a MySQL database, containing 14 tables.
On one page, I use a an SQL query to select data from 10 of the tables in the database.
However, when I try to preview the page in a browser, a PHP warning stating that the MySQL engine has run out of memory.
Is there a way of increasing the Memory Cache of the engine, or a way to optimize the performance?

Is this happening locally?
If it is, try rebooting your system and see if this fixes the problem. If not then you have a problem with your code. If it works locally but not on the server, then you know it's not something in your code causing the issue, so you can confidently go to your host support and have them sort it out.
With any such situation, testing locally first is a vital debugging step.

Iphone Freezing problem... HELP Needed!!!

Hi, i have an iphone running 1.0.2 (i havent upgraded my firmware yet, i know). But i am experiencing the following problem:
My phone freezes after 5-10 hours of usage. Once it does, i reset by holding home and sleep button, restarts, apple logo, but... it stays there forever, no booting sequence, nothing. non of the buttons are responsive.
So i restore the software to my firmware, by getting into restore mode to recognize my iphone in itunes. Do the complete restore.
Then i have tried both, sycning my last saved profile, and not syncing at all, and treating it like a new phone. my at&t account remains the same.
after doing all this troublesome activity, guess what? 5-10 hours later, same problem. any application freezes. whether im in springboard, maps, sms, or simply the lock screen (happens more often here), it just freezes, becomes unresponsive, and then i have to start all over again (if i have a computer nearby, otherwise, i have to wait 3-5 hours to get to my mac, loosing all my phone calls in the interim.
Is there a fix to that other than restoring to 1.1.1? i mean, i agree this should fix some of the problems, but my phone was working perfectly fine one week ago with the same firmware. How can that change?
ANY SORT OF HELP is greatly appreciated.

You are going to need to upgrade the firmware. It sounds like you have done everything you can do as an end user. The next step is to call Apple.
The first thing they are going to tell you to do is update the firmware.
There is no way around it. Lets just hope you don't have a real reason to not upgrade...

In short, I love it. I was going to buy the 5DMark III. After playing with it for a while at my local Fry's store where they put 5DMII, 5DMIII and 6D next to each other, using the same 24-105L lens, I decided to get the 6D and pocket the different for lens later.
I'm upgrading from the 30D. So I think you'll love it. It's a great camera. I have used 5DMII extensively before (borrowing from a close friend).
Funny thing is at first I don't really care about the GPS and Wifi much. I thought they're just marketing-gimmick. But once you have it, it is actually really fun and helpful. For example, I can place the 6D on a long "monopod", then use the app on the phone to control the camera to get some unique perspective on some scenes. It's fun and great. GPS is also nice for travel guy like me.

Help needed! Raid degraded again!

Help needed! I hava made bootable RAID with two S-ATAII 250Gb HDD and its not working! Every now and then at bootup I get a message RAID -> DEGRADED... Must be seventh time! Rebuild takes its own time!
What am I doing wrong!
T: Ekku

2 Gb RAM

nVidia RAID (in mb)
P.S. I wery SORRY with my poor language!

I'm going to blame the nVRAID because I've seen issues with it in the past. If your motherboard has another non-nVidia RAID solution, use that instead. Using the nVidia SATA ports as BASE or JBOD is fine and dandy but RAIDing always had issues. It's not even a driver issue I think it's just instability. Latest drivers and even boxed drivers never helped. Granted, some will report success with their rig. But on a professional level I've seen nForce issues on different motherboards and different hard drives that had RAID disaster stories.
Good luck and if you don't have another RAID solution, my suggestion would be to buy a dedicated RAID controller card.

Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.
