CD-ROM based off-line search?

Hi there folks.
I'm in the process of evaluating a project that requires the
need to search
the contents of a CD-ROM - in particular it will be searching
and returning
results with respect to the names of PDF documents.
I've found AF Search (
http://www.afsearch.com/) that
will allow for such
functinality; but it's Windows only and ideally I require it
to be Mac
friendly as well... Although there could be an arguement that
Spotlight will
acheive the same level of functionality out of the box on OS
X!
Does anybody out there in Director land know of a graceful
alternative to
the one already found? Or indeed if there are any pointers or
guidance as to
how this could be achieved / implemented?

Hi Mark,
why can you not simply read all the filenames including paths
from the
CD?
Or do you mean the name of the document INSIDE the pdf file?
You can also generate a list in a textfile after you have
completed
the contents of the CD, and read that at runtime. There are
many tools
to do something like this.

In addition you cna try these steps :

Reboot and try installing in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

I have downloaded firefox but when i try to bring it up it says off line mode i dont understand because im connected to internet and i can get up my web search.... help

FF3.6.12 goes off line often when searching

Thanks very much! The "Reset Printing" command did the job. Reminds of the magic of PROM clearing in olden times. The Apple support article leaves out one final detail here: after reset, you have to re-select the printer in the setup utility (it seems at first that you may need to reinstall it - not so.)
This is one of the first "Cosmic Duh!" events I've had printing with OSX, hopefully there will not be many more. It's uncomfortably like working with Windows! Any idea why this happened in the first place?
By the way, I did download the Printer Setup Repair (5.1.1) utility from Fixamac, but this didn't clear the problem. (Wasn't your eyes, I didn't mention it earlier.)
Finally, the printer is accessed at a fixed IP address - first three of the router address numbers plus a high number (180s to 190s) in the fourth place. Again, I don't use DHCP because Windows computers can lose track of the IP address if it gets reassigned after a restart, and many addresses will never be used for anything else in such a small network.

Win7, DW CS6, Find and Replace, Problem: The "Done or Found" message is cut off based on your SEARCH dropdown choice.

The Find and Replace "Done or Found" message is partially cut off for "Search" dropdown choices "Source Code, Text, Text (Advanced), but not for "Specific Tag". It appears to be a programming bug sizing the "Find" and "Replace" text boxes too big for the "find and Replace" window. Has anyone else encountered this problem.

Excuse me for resurrecting this, but I have been living with this same issue, and many more issues (I won't list them here), since migrating to CS5 (understood this thread is for CS6. However, my post is relevant none the less). If anyone has the fix I would love to know what they found. But sadly, I doubt there is one.
My system and display settings are also Win7 at 100% display. When doing a Find and Replace I can barely see what the results are for how many occurrences in the find window because the bottom is cutting off half of the text, just like the OP screen shot above. If the results reads "Done. 2 items found" it can easily be mistaken for "Done. 3 items found" if I don't study it carefully because of the bottom half of the "2" is cut off.
I don't want to rant here, but I will a little which I'll confess is the real purpose of my post. I am so disappointed in Adobe for so many different bugs in their software suite which they choose not to address, or even acknowledge as existing. I've had their tech support on the phone while they were recording my screen as I recreated issues for them, they never got back to me on any of them. I just got lip service how their engineers are looking into it and they'll get back to me. This of course was when CS5 still had free support under warranty.
At this point I'm numb to it all and I'm stuck using their software because I'm used to it, which ultimately is their goal anyway I'm sure. You win Adobe.
BTW...if anyone replies, please do not suggest the basic troubleshooting steps. All of the issues I've had exists after multiple re-installs on formatted hard drives and on both of my PCs made by two different manufacturers with different hardware specs (both exceeded min hardware requirements). Not to mention been through various techniques while on the phone with them..

Firefox goes off line and cannot search the web

I use Firefox to run facebook and play Kingdoms of Camelot. i have a number of user scripts downloaded which enable KOC to run when I am at work or sleeping. However most morning when i get up i get the message that Firefox has gone off line and cannot browse the web. I have checked my internet settings and i do not have have power save settings set etc. Also I have left Google chrome running all night as well and I have no problems. It only occurs with Firefox. Any help would be appreciated.

Why is it not possible to do an on line search in Photoshop?

Today I tried the online search facility in Photoshop CS5.5.
It does not seem to work, as a search for any item came up with "an unexpected error has ocurred - please enter your search item again" - same result every time regardless of the item being searched for.
Is this normal, is it a special feature of Photoshop, or are the files off-line at the weekend.
Searching the local files that I had downloaded months ago worked fine.

Return current period based off of current fiscal year and date

Good Afternoon,
Is there a way in the webi that I can create a dimension that always reflects the current Fiscal Month based of Fiscal year and date? I have a report that I am trying to show sales for a customer based off the current fiscal month. I would like this report when refreshed to be based off this fiscal month dimension instead of showing each fiscal month or changing it manually. What is the best way to do this?
I have attached an image that shows current numbers by period (month) and then the YTD Totals. I would like to have my 'Period' column always reflect the current period and the Total column to reflect that months totals based off the period column. So for this period (3), instead of seeing 3 lines for each month I would just see the '3' and the total as $541,310.46, monthly as 412,502.09 and my YTD as 1,080,091.06.
Any help is always appreciated!

Are these coming TotalSales MonthlyGoal YTDSales directly from universe? If they are calculated at report level then you might want to use NoFilter. like =NoFilter([YTDSales])

"Always Available off line" menu item not available for user on computer where another does see it. This is on Active Directory Computer

I have a lap top that I want to add files via Always available off line.
When I logon and right click on a folder share I can see the menu item all was available offline. When the user logs on this option is not available. I have turned the feature on and off, rebooted, I have deleted the cache folder but I cannot
see how to get this menu item to show up. It's odd that it shows up for one user but not another on the same computer. I have searched the web and tried the above things and others but cannot seem to resolve this problem. It seems pretty
common and their. This computer is on a domain.

So as we edited the group policy settings in the default domain policy, the menu item is now available?
And as we are in a domain environment and the settings is configured under the default domain policy, how the domain users behave different from each other? Which someone could see and the other not？
Could we please generate a
GPO report to take a check?

Why is de help/information button not visible in the off-line version. The web-based version is oké. In use Adobe Accrobat version XI.

Tables off line/alignment-please help!

I've been working on this problem for a week now and just
can't seem to figure it out. I used a dw template and created a
table with scrolling text in the middle cell. The site looks great
in Firefox and Safari, but i've gotten feedback from people using
IE that the tables are "off line." When I looked for myself, sure
enough, the table seemed to be part of the preceeding paragraph,
and off line, causing part of the table to appear off the page.
What am I doing wrong?

You have deleted the javascript at the bottom of the page
that is required

I have some data in a DB2 database that I would like to union with a table in an Oracle Database in the Oracle Database.
Can I create a jdbc connection in the Oracle database that points to the DB2 database and then create a view based off of the jdbc connection?
I've never done anything like this , but if this a no brainer please just post a link or something that points me in the right direction thanks...

I was recently presented with the challenge of automating the creation and configuration of a NIC Team on Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2.
Condition:
New Team will use static IP Address of an existing NIC (one of two physical NICs to be used in the Team). Each server has more than one NIC.
Our environment is pretty static, in the sense that all our servers use the same subnet mask and DNS server IP Addresses, so I really only had
to worry about the Static IP Address and the Default Gateway.
1. Retrieve NIC IP Address and Default Gateway:
I needed a way to query only the NIC with the correct IP Address settings and create required variables based on that query. For that, I
leveraged WMI. For example purposes, let's say the servers in your environment start with 192. and you know the source physical NIC with desired network configurations follows this scheme. This will retrieve only the network configuration information
for the NIC that has the IP Address that starts with "192." Feel free to replace 192 with whatever octet you use. you can expand the criteria by filling out additional octects... example:

This is a straight forward command based off of New-NetLbfoTeam. I used "-Confirm:$false" to suppress prompts.
Our NICs are named “Ethernet” and “Ethernet 2” by default, so I was able to keep –TeamMembers as a static entry.
Also added start-sleep command to give the new Team time to build and come online before moving on to network configurations.

-Name TEAM1
-TeamMembers "Ethernet","Ethernet 2"
-TeamingMode SwitchIndependent
-LoadBalancingAlgorithm
Dynamic -Confirm:$false
# 20 second pause to allow TEAM1 to form and come online.

3. Configure network settings for interface "TEAM1".
Now it's time to pipe the previous physical NICs configurations to the newly built team. Here is where I will leverage
the variables I created earlier.
There are two separate commands used to fully configure network settings,
New-NetIPAddress : Here is where you assign the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
Set-DnsClientServerAddress: Here is where you assign any DNS Servers. In my case, I have 2, just replace x's with your
desired DNS IP Addresses.
New-NetIPAddress
–InterfaceAlias “TEAM1”
–IPAddress $IPAddress
–PrefixLength 24
-DefaultGateway $DefaultGateway
Set-DnsClientServerAddress
-InterfaceAlias “TEAM1”

I've done this before, and because of that I've run into something you may find valuable.
Namely two challenges:
There are "n" number of adapters in the server.
Adapters with multiple ports should be labeled in order.
MS only supports making a LBFO Team out of "like speed" adapters.
To solve both of these challenges I standardized the name based on link speed for each adapter before creating hte team. Pretty simple really! FIrst I created to variables to store the 10g and 1g adapters. I went ahead and told it to skip
any "hyper-V" ports for obvious reasons, and sorted by MAC address as servers tend to put all thier onboard NICs in sequentially by MAC:
$All10GAdapters = (Get-NetAdapter |where{$_.LinkSpeed -eq "10 Gbps" -and $_.InterfaceDesription -notmatch 'Hyper-V*'}|sort-object MacAddress)
$All1GAdapters = (Get-NetAdapter |where{$_.LinkSpeed -eq "1 Gbps" -and $_.InterfaceDesription -notmatch 'Hyper-V*'}|sort-object MacAddress)
Sweet ... now that I have my adapters I can rename them into something standardized:

$All10GAdapters | ForEach-Object {
Rename-NetAdapter -Name $_.Name -NewName "Ethernet_10g_$i"

$i = 0
$All1GAdapters | ForEach-Object {

Once that's done Now i can return to your team command but use a wildcard sense I know the standardized name!
