CD-ROM driver for 3440CT Win95

Hi
I dont find a win95 driver too my mobile CD-ROM PCMCIA device. I find drivers too Freecoms CD-ROM but not too Toshibas own CD-ROM. Anybody know where I can find that?

have you tried it with the companion disk ?
Just look at download section of http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com . There you have to click on "Support/Downloads" and "Download drivers".

Need swappable CD rom drive for the Satellite 230CX

After hours trawling the net, I still haven't found the part number for the swappable cdrom drive for the Satellite 230CX.
Sadly a couple of sites say it's the PA2659U / XM-1402B, so I bought one from eBay, and it doesn't fit!

But usually it should be possible to order the supported and compatible CD rom part from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

I have acquired a Toshiba external DVD Rom type PA3246E and Realplayer says I need the native driver for the DVD topay movies. Anyone know where/what I should download.

I dont think that you need a additional driver. Usually the original system driver should works properly.
Did you try to watch DVD movies which are designed for other region?
If yes so you only need to change the DVD region settings.
But note: you can change the settings only 5 times. Then the settings are fixed

Does anyone know where to find the driver for an HP laptop dv6308nr cd/dvd rom drive? I looked it up on the site and it isn't listed under the available drivers. Maybe I am missing it????

Normally you don't need an extra DVD driver except DVD RAM is used!
Is there occured any failure with the DVD? Why can't you use it anymore?

Unfortunately Toshiba doesnt support DOS drivers and I can imagine you can find it somewhere on the net. Ive checked net but I can find firmware only.
Google a little bit around. Maybe you will be lucky.

I have a problem with my pavilion dv4-2045dx dvd/cd rom drive for windows 7 64-bit

I can play CD's and watch dvd movies fine. The drive have no problem reading cd and DVD's. My problem is with cd-rom and blank CD's and DVD's. I can't burn anything. For some reason, it won't read any cd-rom disks. This has never been a problem before. I tried the idea about the upper and lower filters but when I searched, I didn't see any upper or lower filters. I tried the microsoft fix it and nothing was wrong. I looked at the device manager and it shows no problem at all. What should I do next?

If so have you tried a system restore back to date when it was working?

Cannot install DVD/CD ROM drive after upgrading from Windows 7

I had a working DVD/CD-ROM drive before upgrading. Now it shows as Unknown Device in Device Manager, I tried uninstalling it and then scanned for hardware changes but it still does not work. I also tried manually selecting a CD-ROM drive for it but it
ends up with an error code 31. I also checked for {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} registry but it did not have lowerfilters key. How do I install the driver for it?

The error code 31 means that Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Considering that this issue mostly can be caused by compatible issue.
Please check if you can fine the latest driver from Manufacturer’s website. If so, try to install it under Windows 10 compatibility mode: Right click the installer of the driver, choose Properties, choose Windows 7 under Compatibility
mode to install.
If the CD device still fails to work, I recommend to check the setupapi.dev.log under %windir%\inf, locate the device and find the line below:

Pavillion dv9810us DVD/CD-ROM Drive and Vista Device Manager Question.....HELP!!!!!

I have a Laptop, just over a year old, runs Vista Home Premium SP2. Here is the scenario
Hadn't used the DVD/CD-ROM drive for 3 or 4 weeks at which time it worked fine. Tried to use it a couple of days ago and discovered it wouldn't respond. I figured I needed to maybe rollback the Driver or something. I checked in the Device Manager and saw the main HDD was listed but there was no DVD/CD-ROM drive in the Device Manager List. Does Vista remove the DVD/CD-ROM drive if it's inoperable (DEAD) or has something happened that removed the Device from the List. I've had Drives go South before in Windows 98 and 2000 but they were never removed from the Device Manager List they just didn't work but I know Vista is a OS of a different color so I don't know. Just trying to figure out if I'm fighting a Hardware or Software fight here, I'm at a loss and can't afford to just take it into a shop for diagnosis. Any answers or tip on how to definitly isolate the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any Help.

I have the same problem, dvdrw not showing in device manager. Bought a new TS-L632N dvdrw by TSST and it still does not show in device manager. This started after I ordered new recovery disk from HO (vista Home Preminum) and reloaded the OS. I know HP knows about this problem but will not do anything about it. Online support not good and a 500 dollar repair bill would be a waste when you can buy a new laptopn for that.

Using External CD Rom drive to import music from CD to Itune

I have itunes 6.0 on an XP laptop, and an external TDK DVD/CDrom drive. Itunes imports music from CDs when I use the drive on the laptop, however, only imports links (seem like URL links) when I use the external drive to import music from a CD into a playlist.
I am trying to use the external CD rom drive for importing music into Itunes, but there seems to be a problem, or I have not checked some box or the other. Can someone help??

First, Jaguar does not come on a DVD. The standard Jaguar release comes on two CDs. What you probably have is a gray color OEM DVD or a copy that was made for a specific Mac model and will not work with your computer. Furthermore, in order to run OS X on your computer you must first install a firmware update.
You also need at least 128 MBs of RAM for OS X and at least 3 GBs of free space on the hard drive during installation. Your particular model requires that OS X be installed on a drive or partition that is less than 8 GBs. If your hard drive is larger than 8 GBs it must be partitioned such that the first partition is no larger than 7.85 GBs and OS X must be installed in that partition. The drive must also be formatted Mac OS Extended (HFS+).
Furthermore, you cannot boot OS X from a USB drive, only from a Firewire drive.
You will need to get the correct Jaguar installers. You can purchase the right package at www.applerescue.com. Your particular model is compatible with Panther thru 10.3.9. Panther would be a better choice than Jaguar because it is much faster even on your iMac. However, OS X will not be very fast on your computer because it lacks CPU speed and video horsepower. If you continue to install OS X, then you should plan to install the maximum of 512 MBs of RAM that iMac supports.

Using DVD drives for Wallsteet Powerbooks

I recently bought a used PowerBook G3 Wallstreet. Was interested in eventually obtaining a Combo CD-RW and DVD drive.
1. are these kind of drives available for a Wallstreet PowerBook G3 and how much do they run?
2. How easy are they to install?
3. I heard that a DVD decoder card is required to play DVD's where can I find one

Unfortunately, the Wallstreet has a non-standard connector in its optical drive media bay caddy; this is unlike the Lombard and newer powerbooks that use an industry-standard connector. As such, you are limited to:
- the DVD-ROM drive that Apple shipped in Wallstreets that had the optional DVD Player Kit;
- both VST and MCE several years ago offered a media bay CD-RW specifically for the Wallstreet; the VST unit was non-bootable;
- VST offered a DVD player kit that included a DVD-ROM plus the DVD Decoder PC card;
- any DVD-ROM drive for the Wallstreet plus the DVD Decoder PC card will allow playing of DVDs but only in 9.x...10.x is unsupported on the Wallstreet and Lombard;
- you can in fact buy a new decoder card for $20 from MCE (originally $100):

The DVD-ROM and CD-RW media bay drives are getting long in the tooth so it may be difficult to find good units.
You do have options for burners, however. Buy an inexpensive FireWire PC card plus an inexpensive FireWire DVD-R burner and it will be a superior combination versus the media bay burners.

Using the DVD-Rom drive renders MBP almost useless

Under Windows XP Pro on my 2.2 MBP, while accessing the DVD-Rom drive for anything (browsing directories, installing something, playing/burning a DVD or ripping a CD) the computer cannot playback audio. It comes out so skippy and jumpy that you cannot recognise speech. It slows down typing input, mouse movement, and makes video playback skippy. It also hangs up my soundcard (M-Audio Firewire 410), and I have to restart the computer to get sound to work again. I have installed the Bootcamp 2.0 drivers from the Leopard disc.
Does anyone else have this problem, and have you found any way to fix it? Thank you.

Unfortunately on the Toshiba page under the Portg 3440 section I did not find any PC card drivers for WinXP OS.
But maybe you have got luck. As far as I know the notebook support PC card control (ToPIC97). I have found this driver for the Toshiba ToPIC97 CardBus Controller

I a unknown device appears in the device manager then you should try to reinstall the driver above.
Ps: In the BIOS you will find also a option called PC card. Play around with the different settings and maybe this is a magic key to solve you little problem.
