Cd-rom files

Hello all,
I'm tring to get some ideas on how I would go ahead and approach this. I have a cd-r with a list of images(~180 jpeg images). How would I go about accessing the cd-rom drive (I'll have to prompt the user for his drive letter for his cd-rom drive) and pulling each image and storing it in a sql server 2000 database.
I know how to get the images in the database -- the algorithm is already written for that. But, my question relates to each image and how would I go about accessing each image??
Stumped...
All replys are greatly appreicated!
thanks

yeah, funny
anyhow, I know about runtime and its classes, doctor. My question was more directed to the commands inside the runtime class...
e.g. Runtime.exec("what goes here!?");

  • Burn CD Rom files

I am unable to burn a cd rom file created by iMovie on to a CD-R. Process is as follows: 1) transfer DV to iMovie, 2) create and compress movie to Quicktime for CD-Rom, 3) create burn folder and drag QT movie to burn folder, 4) initiate burn.
Result. When you go to play the QT movie on another machine, it can't find Clip 01. You have to test on another machine, because of course the software can find Clip 01 on the mother machine.
Is this a problem with Intel Macs? Its frustrating to have $2000 invested in this machine, and for it to be unable to do what it supposed to perform effortlessly.
Intel based iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello
Sorry guys but I have no understand which notebook model both of you have. If there is some problem with Nero burning software you can try to burn some files using Windows burning option. In CD drive properties under Recording tab there is an option called Enable CD recording on this drive. Activate this option and try to use it again.
System restore option you can find under Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System restore.

  • ROM file from Powermac G3?

I have sheepshaver all ready on my intel-based mac but how can I get the ROM file from the old PowerMac G3 running Mac OS 8.6? Zip drives? floppys? CDs? I want it to be something USB because my intel-based mac is a mac mini. I tried re-partitioning my flash drive to be compatible with PowerPC systems but I guess that doesn't support Mac OS 8. How can I get it onto my mac mini?

Well you could burn it to a CD if your G3 can do that. Otherwise if your G3 has a USB port it should recognize your flash drive (mine does) providing you have USB drivers installed. The partitioning a flash drive sounds a bit complicated to me and your G3 may be responding the same way, especially if it is GUID partitioned which pre-Tiger cannot recognize. How about buying a cheap flash drive for $5 and formatting it plain vanilla HFS+ on APM, or even just leave it as FAT formatted which might be acceptable to both generations? I used a FAT drive in my G3 all the time when transferring between Windows and Mac.

I am trying to apply the new Erazer X700 bios update from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/desktops-and-all-in-ones/lenovo-erazer-x-series-desktops/le...
It fails when I run it in the admin cmd window, with message 4 - Error: ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID. Any idea why I'm getting this failure?
Has anyone successfully applied the lastest X700 downloads?

  • How do I remove an attached DVD-ROM file from DVD Studio Pro?

How do I permanently remove a file that was once built into a disc image in DVDSP?
I have a project that I frequently use to author DVDs. It has custom menus already created. Each time I author a new DVD, I simply replace the .m2v and .ac3 that are in track 1 (along with changing drop zones, chapter menus, etc). At some point along the way I had also included an attached DVD-ROM file in the disc image. Now I can't seem to get rid of it. Even unchecking the box in the inspector and in the build/format menu, it still shows up on the .img. When I deleted the file from the computer, it failed to build the .img.
Specs: I'm using the 2009 MacPro listed below, but using FCS2 on a Snow Leopard partition of the startup drive.

    Never mind. PEBKAC.
I had multiple copies of the disc image open. The latest one was correct. Never author DVDs when low on caffeine.

    Hello
Tecra A3 is pretty new unit and it will be interesting to know why you want to make BIOS update. Is there any problem with it?
Which BIOS update doesnt run, windows or traditional one? If you have no serious problem, dont do it at all.
The issue with your multidrive is a little bit confused for me. Which software you should install?

  • Tecra A3: BIOS update 'rom file wrong szie' [sic]

  • Illustrator 10 Classroom in a Book CD-ROM files

    Hi Folks,
I've had Illustrator 10 for sometime now, the student version, and I recently purchased the Adobe Illustrator 10 Classroom in a Boob at my local Salvation Army without the accompanying CD-ROM.
I know that Illustrator 10 is old but so is my system (Win. XP Pro) so I would need to purchase a new system plus the new vs. of Illustrator and to be honest i just don't have that right now, so ...
I'm hoping someone can tell me where I can get my hands on a copy of the Illustrator 10 Classroom in a Book CD so I can start using the book and learn to use Illustrator 10; at least with some basic understanding of the program I can get my foot in the door somewhere, even as an intern.
Any help would be grately appreciated.
    Thank You

    Hi Monika,
My apologies for such a late reply, life has a way of showing up in very interesting ways ...
Thank you for your reply and suggestion, much appreciated.  I didn't find the title "Adobe Illustrator 10, Classroom in a Book" in either AdobePress.com or Peachpit.com, the title is to old and they no longer carry it, which is why I posted the question here in hopes of someone still having a copy of the CD and perhaps be willing to share the exercise files.
I guess I may have no other recourse but to try ebay and the like, as you suggested.
    Thank You

  • Idvd project with video and slideshow for dvd-rom file access

working on an idvd project with both a video section and photos in a few photo galleries. its' a slightly more complex project, but still only 2gb on a 4gb disc. After we burn (with all dvd-rom contents checked, and advance>edit dvd-rom contents shows photo files all there) the finished disc doesn't have files available in the dvd-romcontents! its' driving us mad as simpler projects are burning properly, with both photo and video files available. Could there be some kind of conflict occurring? does anyone have any ideas?!
    17" Desktop G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Steve,
It sounds like Windows Movie Maker Live was used. The regular WMM will Export to DV-AVI Type I, which will Import into PrPro much better.
I would recommend converting the WMA/WMV to DV-AVI, and Importing that into a DV NTSC (if you are in NTSC-land) Project.
Then, you would use Encore to do the DVD authoring. There are several ways to get the material on your Sequence into Encore. ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) is probably the easiest way to do this.
What is your exact workflow from PrPro, into Encore?
What brand of blank media are you burning the DVD to?
This ARTICLE will give you some tips.
Good luck, and let us know a bit more,
    Hunt
PS - Multiplexing is the function of combining the Audio and the Video into one file. There are usually two choices, "None" and then often "DVD." For None, you will get two separate files - one for the Audio and one for the Video. With "DVD" you should get a muxed (combined) file. Actually, the separate Audio and Video is the preferred way, if one is doing an Export from PrPro, and then an Import to Encore. One would Import the Video into Encore as a Timeline, and the Audio as an Asset. In Encore, just drag the Audio file from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place.

  • [GeForceFX] Bios.rom file needed for a FX5200

Bear with me guys, I know I'm gonna get flamed for this.
I've recieved a MSI FX5200-TD128 video card that's been flashed with the wrong bios. I need to find someone that has this card and can make a backup of thier video bios and upload it to a website data base where I can download it from for testing.
This is the board I'm talking about, http://www.msicomputer.com/product/vga/vga_detail.asp?model=FX5200_TD128
Here is a link to a forum I've been working on this card with. http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,34/func,view/id,22724/catid,13/
This card is supposed to have a 64 bit interface running 128 megs of ram but the post screen info and display properties show it having only 64 megs of ram. If I can find the correct bios to reflash it with it should show correctly at 128 megs of memory.
I've already posted quite a few pics of the card on that forum so I won't link them in here unless it's really needed. That site also has all the tools needed to make a backup of a vid bios, flash a new vid bios and edit a bios. You''l need to join in order to upload a bios file to their data base. I recommend it in case you ever have a problem with the bios on your vid card.

Just send an email to [email protected] for the BIOS, normally they are very willing to send you that version.

  • Trying to open swf files from cd-rom

I'm trying to open some swf files from a cd-rom. I have
downloaded flash player for my mac OSX version 9,0,115,0 but it
wont do anything when I double click the files. The darn thing
keeps trying to open as a powerpoint presentation and wont
recognize flash player as an option. I'm really not sure what I'm
supposed to be doing with this to view to cd-rom files.

The pdf is loading as html code. If you save it, it will download as :
    605124.pdf.html
    Change the extension to .pdf
And it opens and works perfectly, I just tested it:

  • H61MU-E35 (B3) Updating BIOS....File Not Found Error

I have MSI H61MU-E35 (B3) Motherboard with Intel i3 CPU.
I downloaded latest BIOS File  7680vC3.zip (on web page it's says Version: 12.3 from  -> -www.msi.com/support/mb/H61MUE35_B3.html#down-bios
Using Windows XP OS  From 7680vC3.zip => Extracted E7680vC3.exe  => Placed on USB Drive (I did not format USB Pendrive, and used by just making it empty by deleting files) ==>  Ran this exe file on the computer where this motherboard is....
Inside Windows XP, when BIOS Update process started, In a green window, it shown me current BIOS old version and  New Version side by side.  (I did not given much attention to notedown from which number to which number it's updating).
In Windows XP after BIOS Process completed, it restarted computer (I kept USB File as it in the computer as I had read that, I have to keep USB in computer after restart).
When computer restarted...nothing came on the screen and just blank screen for long time and on the right side on screen bottom corner only letter like: A2 stayed for long long time.  I waited for 15 minutes but nothing was happening except blank screen...
So, I restarted computer....and kept USB as it is in the computer....but Nothing comes on the screen...
After I concluded that, something is wrong, to resolve the issue...
--- What Try and Experiments I have done  ----------------------------------------------------------------
    (1) I placed Restarted computer without USB: and Message comes on the screen is:
BIOS Update is not yet completed, please insert the USB pen drive  and reset system.
    (2) I refered some forums, and also contacted MSI Support. As suggested, I formatted USB Drive with FAT32 and placed  E7680IMS.C30  file (only one file) on USB placed in computer and started computer.. Now Message is coming:
    Updating BIOS...... File Not Found..
Note that: E7680IMS.C30  File was given to me by MSI Support Staff as I did not kept Original files during formatting USB PenDrive.
But computer is not looking for .C30 Rom File, Computer is looking for .BIN File
    (3) I have remove the battery and waited for 5 min. and placed again, to reset BIOS, but not difference on result or on message...
    Renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to EIVB.BIN
Result: Just Blank Screen with A2 text on right side bottom corner, No other message
In some other same issue post, they recommand to change ROM File name to: EIVB.BIN which worked for others, so I also tried and renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to EIVB.BIN, in this case, I was able recreate original Issue:  When computer boots, Screen stays completely Blank, and on the right side bottom corner, only 2 digit tect comes is: A2. Computer does not give any other message and nothing happens...even I waited for 30 minutes...
Also, by looking at USB Pendrive light, I can tell that, motherboard is reading file on the Pen Drive...
    Renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to E7680IMS.BIN
Result: Message comes on the screen: Updating BIOS...... File Not Found..
    (5) What I am thinking is:  When motherboard power-ups, it's giving me two different type of Valid message based on if USB is in the computer or not, based on if file name is .BIN or not, so I believe motherboard is still not dead and there are hope to feed the file which motherboard is looking for. But issue how to find what specific file which it's looking for... Even sometime I have seen at screen right side bottom area, 2 Digit numbers are changing just like system is doing internal healthcheck before booting up...
    (6) Note that, I would like to put old version file on USB to feed, but one of the biggest issue with MSI is, once you download EXE from their website, to Extract EXE file content it needs to be run on the same motherboard computer, so in my case, if your motherboard is not in bootable cituation then you can not extract any other BIOS File to try...
Please help me...by havin this computer down....I am suffering everyday...
(By profession, I am electronics Engineer and have worked with programming Microcontroller and bootloaders, but in this case, I do not have SPI Programmer to program BIOS chip externally.)

    Thank you flobelix  and Nichrome.
Quick Result Summary:  128MB USB Key formatted FAT32 with HP Tool, made MS-Dos Bootable and placed EIVB.BIN file given by  flobelix, but final result is: Screen comes Blank and only shows "A0" Code at right side bottom corner. nothing else.
    Detail
Since Flobelix proviced ROM BIN File, I was too exicited to try it out and here is what I did...
    (1) As per Nichrome link for HP USB Format Tool, I installed it on "Win XP" machine, and formatted 128MB USB key by selecting "FAT32" and selected option to make "MS-DOS Bootable" and shown Win98 source files as per the instruction.
-128MB USB drive made bootable with FAT32.
    (2) I downloaded EIVB.rar given by flobelix and extracted and copied EIVB.BIN file on USB root.
Inserted USB in MSI and powered up...
As soon as I give power:  Imidiately one normal beep and Screen comes completly Dark Blank. No message about "File not found".  only at right side bottom of screen, it shows "A0".
I inserted USB key in each and every USB slot, but result is same: Screen stays Blank and on right side corner only "A0" letter.
I given around 3-5 minutes time to see something changes on screen, but no change.
    - If I power-up computer without connecting any USB Drive: then message comes on screen that: Bios Update has not completed, please insert USB Key and Reset System.
    - On USB Key, If I put ROM File with any other name (except EIVB.BIN) then Message comes:  Updating BIOS... File Not Found...
    - I have removed battery to give a try for resetting BIOS, but not change.
    Question:
    (1) Is it possible that, motherboard is looking for specific version of File or some different version of file ? and just staying silent and not complaining for existing EIVB.BIN ?
Here is I experiment:  I simply created empty text file (0 Byte) on USB Drive and given name EIVB.BIN  and booted up computer and same result: Blank Screen and just "A0" on right side bottom corner.
So, it tells me that, when power is given, the program which executes in motherboard for BIOS, it is not able to identify real or fake EIVB.BIN.  I think, it's looking for some specific file and when not found, it's getting confuse on what to do....and not saying anything on the screen....
Has anyone old version BIN file of H61MU-E35 (B3)  ?
Is there any trick so I can download older version Packaged EXE from MSI website and extract it ? I can give a try....

  • Opening runnable files?

    Hello,
If you are familiar with an emulator, such as a gameboy emulator for PC, you will know that it is a program that can be used to open and run emulated games. As in, it's an application that can open and run files, usually stored with a .rom extension.
I am currently developing an application which has a similar theme, I have provided a window which has a menu system, a browser with flash support and can handle input from a gamepad or joystick. It enables the user to play the flash games with a gamepad or controller. Currently, I have a package which contains classes for different games (each game has different controls and actions associated with it), but I would like to be able to have these classes stored in their own files, outside of my jar file. I want to be able to load them in a similar way to how an emulator opens and runs .rom files, but I have no idea how.
My only thought so far is maybe having a .class file outside of the jar, but I want the files to have a different extension. If you can, please use .rom in any examples! :)
    Thanks
    Jack

You use a ClassLoader to load classes. Start your search with that keyword.
