CD's Not Being Recognised in iTunes 10.5

Question

Hello,
I have installed the new version of iTunes (10.5) and everytime I put in a cd into my drive to import/rip into my library and iPod, the cd is not being displayed in my devices and not accessing gracenotes. I have the checkboxes ticked to automatically get the track names from the Internet and the when cd inserted option is selected to ask to import.
The only way I can get iTunes to recognise the cd is if I close down iTunes and re-start it again.
Is this a bug in 10.5 or is there something I can do to fix it?

I have the same problem, that when iTunes is open it does not recognize when a CD is inserted.  I don't have an answer but I have a workaround that may be similar to yours.
The problem occurred the first time I tried to import a CD after having updated iTunes on October 12.  I think this is the first version to support iCloud (which I don't use).  That version did not have a Help Menu.  I reinstalled iTunes and now have 10.5.0.142.  I did get a Help Menu but still no recognition of CDs.
I can import CDs if I close iTunes and let AutoPlay take over.  I have AutoPlay set to "Import songs using iTunes".  "Show songs using iTunes"  is closer to the setting you want.  When the CD is inserted AutoPlay opens iTunes and iTunes sees the CD.
