CD shows up as blank, but works in boot camp

My mac mini (2010) has started to not show up CDs lately.  I insert an audio CD and it comes up with a message that I have inserted a blank CD. When I do the same in Boot Camp (windows 7) it works fine.  I am running Lion.  This didn't happen when I installed Lion, it happened only in the last couple of weeks.  I tried the method in one post about creating a new user account and trying from there, but to no avail.  Any ideas short of completely reinstalling Lion?

Hello,
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Do CDS/DVDs work in the new account?

  • Magic Mouse Not Working with Boot Camp.

    Hi All,
I have a wired issue here. I installed Windows XP on my iMac 27" using bootcamp and all worked fine till one day my Magic Mouse stopped working in Windows. Now the funny part is windows is able to detect my mouse and says that the device is working normally but the green light under my mouse is OFF. No matter what i try i cannot get it to come on. But the moment i boot to Mac OS X the mouse works perfectly fine. My Apple Wireless KB works just fine in Windows. A USB mouse also works fine. I have also installed Parallels on my Mac and when i boot into the Windows partition using Parallels the Magic Mouse works fine. Any idea as to whats going on here.?
    John.

I have a new (July 2009) iMac24 and neither the wireless mighty mouse nor keyboard work with Boot Camp XP Home Edition SP3. They install OK with the Bluetooth control panel, but then after five or ten seconds, drop out of the control panel and have to be discovered again. I spent two hours today with a Mac support expert, but no joy. We both gave up. It seems the wireless mouse/keyboard does not work with Boot Camp. If anyone hears of a solution, please let me know.

  • ISight is not working with boot camp

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro and very satisfied with it. Formerly I worked with Windows XP, so I decided to buy a Macbook and use boot camp. Everything was fine. In my enthusiasm I bought the LED cinema display. Very good display but the iSight camera is not reliable working with boot camp. There is no driver available. Sometimes the camera is recognized as video device but mostly not. When the camera is not recognized then there is a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. I don't know what to do. Is anybody working with boot camp and the iSight build in the LED cinema display? And what driver do you use? Hopefully I get some help here. Everything is working convenient except this issue.
    Thank you, Frank

Sorry, I think I mixed some things. I tried several contellations to find out what is going wrong. The iSight is woking with my MacBook (and boot camp). But it is not working with other Laptops or PCs (all with Windows XP). It is working really rarely but not reliable and not replicatable. In all cases I tried only the USB connector from the LED cinema display. Audio, micro and hub is always working without problems. The iSight driver delivered with the Macbook is not working (only with the Macbook itself). If I had known this before I think I would buy the display although. The display is great. But it is a pity that the iSight is not working when you do not use Apple hardware. May be I will buy the Mac Pro in one or two years when I need a new PC. Perhaps someone can answer if Windows XP is working without problems on a Mac Pro? And is the iSight build in the LED cinema display working (Mac Pro and boot camp)?

  • Mouse not working with Boot Camp after 10.5.7 update

I upgraded to 10.5.7 recently, and now my mouse doesn't work on Boot Camp. It doesn't seem to register, and I can't move the pointer. I tried this with two mice that worked just fine on the Mac OSX side. Any ideas? Has anybody else noticed this?

  • Will Windows 8.1 upgrade work with Boot Camp on OS X Mavericks?

Will Windows 8.1 upgrade work with Boot Camp on OS X Mavericks?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. Make a backup of your files in Windows, and install Windows 8.1 as an upgrade. The Windows support software supports it without any issue, so if it is updated, you do not have to worry

  • External Monitor - Works with Mac Lion OS, but not with Boot Camp

Computer: Macbook Pro 13 inch purchased Spring 2011
    OS: Mac - Lion (10.7.3), Boot Camp - Windows 7 (64 bit)
Utilizing an adaptor, I'm able to use my Samsung monitor without I problem when working in the Mac operating system.  Unfortunatlely, when I switch to Windows 7 / Boot Camp partition, plugging in the Samsung makes both the external and laptop monitors go blank.
I have spent hours researching this, but I have be unable to come up with solution.  It seems like the problem might have something to do with the NVIDIA drivers.
Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this problem?  I appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    PJL

I haven't experienced this in Bootcamp under Windows 7 using your same computer/OS's and I dual boot and use two monitors daily. So what you want IS possible.
When you boot into Windows the only Apple software you are using are Apple supplied drivers, some third party. Your video drivers are supplied by NVIDIA to Apple.
Try different adapters and cables. You don't say what you are using, DVI, VGA, but prove your cable set first. Then get your hardware specs and driver specs from Windows properties in Bootcamp and hit the Windows forums.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not support Bootcamp by Apple IOS operating system, but does work with boot camp Win 8.1 why"

Adobe Creative Cloud does not support APPLE latest IOS operating system, but does allow Windows 8.1 to be accepted. This seems a shame to me, as
Apple IOS is the leader in graphics, photography. The advertising states it is usable under both APPLE IOS and Microsoft 8.1 windows operating systems. Adobe Support Chat Sooraj tells me on 02/19/2015 that i must buy two computers to have it operate on both operating systems. Adobe will not support apple's Boot CAMP allowing both operating systems.
i love the apple product and love the ADOBE Photoshop CC, but it simply does now work with an apple keyboard and a WiN operating system. .[email protected]  Adobe Creative Cloud

In Thehatters defence, this was initially posted in the MacbookPro forum and then moved to Boot Camp,
If you have any joy solving your trackpad device driver issue, feel free to post here (there might be a similar fix for my  wireless adapter device)

  • Dual monitor not working under Boot Camp on Mac Pro ATI HD 2600 XT

Recently got a brand new Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card.
On the Mac side (Leopard), everything works perfectly: my second monitor (a plasma screen connected with HDMI to the second DVI of the ATI card via HDMI/DVI adapter) is fully recognized and it works as an extended desktop or in Mirroring mode.
Under Boot Camp (Windows XP Pro) however, NOTHING: the second monitor always appears in the display properties, but it is grayed out (inactive), and when I try to activate it, it switches back to being grayed out immediately and nothing gets displayed on it.
After reading all the posts I can find on the topic, I tried the following (in pretty much every possible combination - Thank god for WinClone that allows me to restore the Boot Camp basic install image without having to reinstall Windows from scratch every time):
    a) Bootcamp 2.0 (installed by default by Bootcamp assistant)
    b) Update to Bootcamp 2.1
    1) Windows XP Pro SP2c vanilla install (from my Windows XP pro install disk)
    2) Update to Windows XP SP3 (I tried with and without BC 2.1: both worked -> BC 2.1 didn't seem to be required for SP3 - maybe because this is a mac pro and not a MB or MBP)
    i) ATI drivers installed by default by Boot Camp assistant (BC 2.0) or by BC 2.1
ii) Latest ATI drivers found on ATI web site specifically under Boot Camp / Mac Pro.
Note: Interestingly, the catalyst installer worked ok (provided .NET framework 2.0 is installed though), but it seems that the Radeon BootCamp/Mac Pro driver set itself from ATI's web site does NOT include a driver for the HD 2600 XT - so when I install this driver set, it tells me that no compatible hardware was found...
iii) Latest ATI drivers found under Windows XP (these did include one driver specifically for the Radeon HD 2600 XT)
NOTHING seems to work. I read posts (most of the from late last year) about ATI Catalyst utility showing a 3rd monitor at some point, but I never got any 3rd monitor showing in any of my many many trials with Catalyst. I have yet to get a single image appear on my plasma under Bootcamp Windows. I don't believe its the hardware because everything works great on the max OS X side.
I am actually considering switching to an NVidia 8800 GT just to get the dual screen to work under BootCamp/Windows XP because I really need it and I read everywhere that drivers for NVidia are far better than ATI ones.
Any advice? What should I try next before getting an 8800 ?
Is there a diagnostic utility that I can use to test my config including the GC?
    Thanks!

Hi there aside from my laptop I have an iMac 20" with the same HD 2600 XT card. I recently installed the Catalyst 8.6 driver by using a driver mod from driverheaven, I use Vista 32. By installing it this way I got boosted performance and many issues with the bootcamp drivers were fixed. As you may already know the ATI drivers do not install on bootcamped macs usually but the mod tool fixes this. Its unofficial so do so at your own risk but try it out and see if you get the second monitor if not just rollback. Hope this helps and I didn't want to say too much about the 8.6 driver mod because it may not be allowed here but google will provide any answers.

  • Wireless keyboard not working with Boot Camp

I have a brand new 15" Macbook Pro.  I need to run Windows for work so I installed Boot Camp and Windows 8.1.  I have a HP wireless keyboard with a USB dongle.  It will not work at all.  Windows recognizes that I've plugged in the dongle but the keyboard won't work at all.  It's a brand-new keyboard and the batteries show full charge.  All drivers look good in device manager.  When I went thru the Windows troubleshooter, which is typically worthless, it said something about the dongle being USB 2.0 and the Mac's USB is 3.0.  But shouldn't it be backward compatible?  It has no problem with my old wireless mouse with a USB dongle.
I also notice a significant difference in the clarity on my dual external monitors with Windows instead of OSx.  The colors aren't as sharp and the text isn't as clear - kind of fuzzy.  Is that just how it goes with boot camp, or is there anything I can do, like maybe an upgraded driver, to get the same clarity on my dual monitors with Windows like I get with OSx?
    Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately I can't turn off Bluetooth in Win 8.1.  I go to the page where i should see the slider and the page just spins and spins.  I thought my install might be hosed so I blew it away and did a fresh boot camp install.  Still no joy; BT still spins - and I still can't connect to the USB keyboard.  I can plug the dongle in and see it in devices, and it says it's ready to go but the keyboard doesn't work.  It's brand-new and has worked on a Windows box so I know it's not a bad keyboard.  Maybe time to go back to a Windows box and ditch boot camp?

  • Apple wireless keyboard no longer working with boot camp Windows 7

    Hi,
I've had Boot Camp installed for about half a year now with no problems.
Yesterday my wireless keyboard stopped working with it, it also appears that bluetooth isn't in the device manager or in the control panel,  it could no linger detect either my magic mouse or keyboard despite having fresh new batteries. They do however still work with my Mac OSX partition. It also lets me hold down alt to choose which OS to boot into on startup however when it gets to the log in screen for windows the keyboard stopped working.
I've tried unpairing them in OSX then trying it in Windows but like I said bluethooth doesnt even appear to be there and it wont detect them. I've also tried reinstalling the apple drivers twice, still doesn't work.
    If it helps I have a early 2011 iMac 21.5inch and it's Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
    Thanks,
    Dan

This may be just a Boot Camp issue, if no one here can help you may also want to post in the Boot Camp forum.

  • Portable hard drive works in boot camp, not on os x

    hi all,
upgraded to macbook c2d cos i had this same problem with my ibook g4.
have a usb 2.0, portable drive with a usb Y-wire. it mounts properly sometimes but doesnt read or write to it reliably. in fact, it always ends up hanging and i m left with a spinning rainbow and having to yank it out of the ports.
it is a fat32 drive and works with my boot camp installation very well ... but totally gases out on os x. happened for my ibook g4 too.
at this rate, i might just have to end up working out of boot camp -gasp!-
anyone got the same problem or have a solution to this?

This is tough, but I'm gonna have to suggest something that could be rather unpleasant. You will need to backup your data unless you want to lose it.
Initialize it to HFS+ with the Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. FAT32 just isn't reliable for heavy-duty file transfers on the Mac. Maybe for little Word documents and PDFs on little USB flash drives, but for anything serious, stick to HFS+ Journaled.
And quit fooling around with USB 2.0 devices when there are cheap FireWire alternatives (they might cost a little more, but they're often worth it). FireWire 400 is faster that USB 2.0, it can often be daisy-chained, and self-powered devices only require one FireWire port.

  • Can't get Apple USB modem to work in Boot Camp

I've been struggling to get an Internet connection under boot camp/Windows XP for several days. Have an Apple USB modem and installed all the Apple drivers. Apple tech support says they can't help me with Windows (cop out). Both Microsoft and my ISP tech support team have both been great and have spent hours trying to help me. Their final conclusion is that the modem is working fine, but the underlying flaw is the inability of an Apple system to run Windows. In desperation, I've ordered a US Robotics USB modem from the Mac/PC Connection that is both OS X and Windows XP compatible. It is on backorder for 2 weeks
Any help you can give me in the meantime would be greatly appreciated! Glad I kept my old Dell!

"I am confused, QuickDraw. If the poster cannot get online via Windows XP, how does he or she get the drivers?"
I was speaking of the Boot Camp drivers that comes on the Leopard Disc. This could possibly be the answer to your troubles as well if you haven't already installed them yourself. After you've successfully installed Windows via Boot Camp, you need to boot up into Windows, then stick in your Leopard Disc and the drivers are supposed to install automatically. If after you've installed the BC drivers you still cannot get online via your router, then post back.
    Hope this helps.
By the way, you really need to start your own thread. That way you'll have a better chance of being assisted from others. Just a suggestion.

  • Option Key not working with Boot Camp.

    Hi all,
I installed Boot Camp on my new Alu Imac 24" (wired keyboard) and when booting up the option key that should bring up the boot options doesn't work. Is this a known fault with the slimline keyboard and Boot Camp??
I have tried all different combinations of power button and Option key but nothing works.
    Any suggestion?

  • How can I get MagicTrackpad to work with Boot Camp and Windows Vista?

Just installed Lion and then installed Magic Trackpad. Now I need to know how to get the Magic Tackpad to work with Windows Vista in my Boot Camp partition. Windows Bluetooth recognizes the Magic Trackpad but it says the device won't confirm the passkey. No passkey came with the Magic Trackpad and the option to not use a passkey still doesn't achieve connection with Windows. Suggestions/ comments, please.
    TIA,
    Picman

    UPDATE
Just completed several lengthy sessions with Apple Tech Support (escalated to excellent Sr. Advisor). Bottom line is that there seems to be no answer to the problem of the Magic Trackpad not being able to maintain its pairing/connection with Windows (Vista in my case) or OS X (10.7 in my case) when switching Boot Camp partitions. In fact, when trying to re-pair it is necessary to remove the MTP batteries first. To pair at all with Windows requires the use of the Bluetooth passkey "0000" (not provided in MTP documentation). This achieves limited MTP/Windows functionality (cursor and "click" control only - with BC 3.1. BC 3.2 is supposed to provide more gestures, but I have not gotten there yet). Appears that when switching back to OS X, that passkey has remained with the MTP and is not what OS X is looking for, so it fails the connection. Removing/replacing the batteries probably dumps the passkey and allows the OS X connection. The Sr. Advisor says he sees this issue often (including with Windows 7) in their internal chat rooms, but no solution. He will be referring it to the engineers and will let me know the outcome. Meantime, assuming I keep the MTP, I'll have to resign myself to using a wired mouse when going to Windows (not a huge inconvenience, since it's only for Quicken; but the issue is worse than "in-elegant" for Apple!
I am satisfied that I have obtained the best possible help from Apple on this issue. If anybody has more, please reply.
    Thanks,
