CD STUCK IN MY DESKTOP

I have a desktop Mac that I bought a couple years ago that has never had any problems until now. Yesterday, I placed a blank CD into the computer and after I was finished burning some music onto it, I attempted to eject it. It made the normal "eject noise" and then got sucked back in, attempted to eject again but refused, and then the disk got sucked back inside of my computer as if like usual and popped into itunes like normal. I have spent the last four hours trying to get it to pop out. I've also been reading a lot of forums on disks getting stuck inside of Mac's, no one seems to have the same problem as me. Please help!

Hi
What desktop are you on mac pro, mac mini?
You could try some of these
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder.
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray
Hope this helps

I have an empty folder and 3 .jpg files stuck on my desktop.  When I drag them to the trash I am asked to enter my administrator's password.  I do this but the files and folder will not delete.  I have checked 'Get Info' on each of them and they are not locked and I have full read & write access.  Grateful for any assistance in solving this problem.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    ls -@Oaen De* | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.

This file appears to contain the Vietnamese licence agreement for Adobe Illustrator; the special characters in its name prevent any standard method of deleting the file from being used. Run the Disk Utility from a Mac OS X 10.4 installation disk and use the Repair Disk option on your hard disk; when done, try deleting the file again.

  • An email is stuck on my desktop I cannot remove it please help?

I have an email I was about to send out stuck on the desktop of my iMAC and I can not send it or delete it or even minimise it, please can any one help?

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode, like if you can delete or send it then...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.

  • Windows 7 SP1 Upgrade - Stuck at Windows Desktop Update

Ok so I have a 4 year old laptop that had Windows 7 Ultimate on it. It is a Intel dual core computer with 4GB of RAM.
I left it over night to download and install the SP1 patch. I wake up this morning and sign in, it shows a black screen and in the upper left it has "Setting up personalized settings for: Windows Desktop Update"
I thought that this might take some time so I left for about an hour, now I am back and this screen is still there. I fear that it has broken itself and that it is broken. Is there a way to fix this issue?

During the Black screen, try using Ctrl Alt Delete
    Go to task manager
check your CPU usage (mine was at zero when i did this)
    Go to processes
    and end both the
processes that start with Reg (I apologize i cant fully remember the name of it)
Make sure you do this by right clicking and ending the process tree
This is how i got past that screen, and my laptop seems to be working fine and its been a few days since

  • Stuck with Remote Desktop 3 without the serial number:(

I am the new tech assistant for my lab of 35 macs..
The computer used for managing the lab with remote desktop has crashed.
I have found an older model mac with remote desktop. I'd like to transfer that application
to my newer mac...but It will ask me for the serial number of which I do not have.
The old tech assistant has gone..and along with it...the software and document.
I have turned this lab upside down and I've found the box Apple Remote Desktop 3
but nothing else. I thought maybe the serial number would be on it.  But I see
only the bar code... I am frustrated to no end. They don't answer my emails for help
    Sincerely,
Love using Apple Remote Desktop 3 user but can not anymore:(

IIRC the serial number was never on the outside of the box so have you looked inside the box? Do you see the booklet that came with the box? Is the Serial Number inside? The Serial Number takes this form:
    XARD-030-000-x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-x
Who is not answering your emails for help?
Having read the terms and conditions of this forum prior to posting you'll know these are user-to-user forums and Apple are not listening, so it's difficult to see what any of us here can do to help? Perhaps if you find the purchase receipt you might be able to contact your local Apple Rep and ask if they have a record of it?
You can still use Remote Desktop by purchasing it again from the App Store. It costs far, far less than the installer media version and does not require a serial number. All you need is an Apple ID and an associated debit or credit card.

  • Iphoto bar stuck on MAC desktop background

After I updated to Yosemite the iPhoto bar is on the bottom of my desktop (like a photo). It is unresponsive, it does nothing.

    Hi Camille,
    They've hidden the User's Library in 10.7 & Up...
While on the Desktop, hold CMD +Option+g, that should open it.

  • Mac won't shut down, gets stuck at empty desktop.

When I shut down, even after quitting all applications, desktop gets cleared of icons, dock remains, and that's it, my Mac won't power off. I have to force shut down 99% of the time. I had the same problem even before the Yosemite update. The Mac is only 5 months old.

Note the time during the "bad" shutdown. After rebooting open the Console app that is in the Utilities folder and look for log entries at the time of the problem. Post suspicious ones here

  • After Restarting Leopard stuck in Blue Desktop!! Please Help!

    Hey,
i´m using for a while Leopard on my macbook. Yesterday it seems that the macbook is very slow i thought it is because of the long time i havent restarted or something else. So i closed all apps and restarted leopard. The Mac showed me the gray start-up desktop with the black apple logo in the center, then it turns into a blue desktop where i can see sometimes the mouse and then it seems as the mac would load leopard, the desk becomes a little deeper blue and i can see that he is loading because of the circle in the center but instead of starting the log-on desk afterwards, the Mac return into the brighter blue and starts loading (sorry i think that it does?) Does anybody know whats going on there? Can i set up Leopard new and use my timemachine backups?
Thanks for your help - i never had problems and now i´m a little confused!
    Peter

    Hi Peter-
That's one of the great points about Time Machine. If you already have Leopard installed and have created a Time Machine backup on a different disk, you can restore that backup after erasing your disk and installing Leopard.
Follow the instructions in this article to recover your entire system.
Before you do, can you start to Safe Mode? Hold Shift while starting the system. It takes longer to start, but you may release the Shift key when the "spinning gear" appears.

  • Widgets get stuck on desktop.

    What the....??
I just replaced my battery and now widgets are getting stuck in my desktop. Seriously! How do I fix this, it is so strange.

Widgets can be moved to the desktop if you accidently dismiss Dashboard while dragging the widgets from the widget "shelf." To remove these widgets, hold down the option key and click your mouse inside the widget -- an "x" in a circle should appear in the top left corner of the widget. Clicking the x will close the widget and remove it from your desktop.
