CD Stuck in my mac

Any suggestion on how to get a DVD disk out I have try Eject buttom, comand E any other suggestion to this problem???

Restart your mac holding down the mouse button during the starting process. Release the button when your DVD has been ejected or when your system booted without ejecting your DVD.
In the last case you might have an hardware problem and need to go to a nearby apple store.

  • HT1338 CD is stuck in my mac- doesn't eject

Hi a photo cd is stuck in my mac - can't get it to eject. tried everything, with Itunes -command eject etc... nothing works HELP

Try rebooting your Mac while holding the mouse key down - keep it down until the CD ejects or the Finder is completely loaded.
If this fails you may have a hardware fault which will need the attention of an engineer.

  • Stuck on Happy Mac?

    Hello,
my old iMac G3 (summer 2000) is stuck on the Happy Mac during boot! I can put a CD in and boot from a software restore disk, which I did, but even after restoring it's not working! Help me please!
    P.S. I'm running OS 9.0.x

It's good that it's the happy Mac & not the sad Mac. Look at this link.
Mac OS 7.x - 9.x: Troubleshooting Startup Issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1926
Try a startup with extensions Off (depress the Shift key at startup).
If that doesn't work, try a PRAM zap (Depress the following keys at startup; CommandOption+PR & listen for at least 2 bongs; then release the keys)
Once you get your startup problem resolved, you should update your OS to at least 9.1 (or higher). The freeware updaters are at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1387

  • Computer stuck on "Stating Mac OS X" screen

I had the Mac OS X 10.4.4 installed on my 4G iBook. I went to manually update it by downloading the 10.4.11 update but instead of installing the "Combo Update" I installed the one which requires 10.4.10 to run. Now when i boot, i get stuck on the "Stating Mac OS X" screen and cannot get passed it.
I do not have the install discs so i cannot use the disc utility.
Is there any other way i can repair or remove the update so I can use my computer again?

    Hi,
You can repair the disk in a few ways, but you can't uninstall the update.
You might get the real Combo on a Flash Drive or such, maybe another Mac with this one in Target Mode to apply the real one.
    Try this first...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when completes.
    Next...
Tough without the Tiger Disk problems, but try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
    1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line. Hold CMD+s keys down at bootup.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
(SPACE between fsck AND -fy important)
    3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:

The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***

Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
    4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.

  • Mac OS X Stuck on "Starting Mac OS X"

    Hey Everyone.
My Mac is stuck on the boot up screen. It's stuck with a Full status/loading bar showing below that as "Starting Mac OS X"
I am on the Same Mac Which Im Typing this Message but using Ubuntu 11.10 or 11.04. (Live Disk)
I can view a few Files on my Mac Partition and I see a folder named damaged files, there are 48 files in that folder.
and before you ask I did Repair the Disk and I also Repaird the Disk Permissions.
    Anyways here are some Notes.
    * There was only 3.9Gbs of Harddrive space lefted
    * 768Mbs of Ram (256 Mbs added, 512 Mbs original)
    * Tiger 10.4.11
    * I have the Tiger Install disk with me and also the Leopard Install Disk but I never got around to install Leopard on this eMac.
    * eMac 2005 1.42ghz Model.
Note. Im sure this eMac is about to fail on me because everytime I Boot this eMac up I always used to get kernel panics. plus I would always leave it on 24/7 unless it needed to be restarted.
ps. I have No Backups of any of my Files on this Mac.

Can't say for sure but it is possible that during the interval when the disk wasn't fixed that a critical file got lost unnoticed (because the directory was damaged) ...
A&I is relatively painless (just make sure you select to preserve...) vs. all the fiddling with fsk and such that might or might not work in the end.  Download the combo updater to take you straight to 10.4.11. The main nuisance will be the java updates which you have to do one by one. Software update should help there.
    PowerPC-based Macs - http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
Did you verify your drive again afer repairing it? Sometimes repairing once can uncover other issues so always do an extra verify after a repair is needed.

  • Stuck notification in mac app store

The Mac App Store icon in the dock has a stuck notification. It always shows a red 1, but when I click on it, there are no updates to download.
I also occasionally get popup notifications to update, and am then told there are no updates.
When I do have an update and download/install it, the 1 does not go away.
How can I remove this phantom notification on my App Store dock icon?

Actually... the Terms of Use state:

As Lion has been announced and Apple has an official page on it, I would think discussions about it are acceptable. However, apart from features, Apple has not released any detailed information (such as the option to download).

  • Cd STUCK in my mac book pro?

    hello,
i have a 15 inch mac book pro.
a few months ago i was burning a cd and when it was finished burning and time to eject, it wouldnt successfully come out.
i looked online and saw the giant list of different ways to eject (such as restarting and holding the touchpad button etc.)
all of these different ways of ejecting didnt work. it would make the noise and sound like its about to pop out and it tries, and then goes back in.
i have a feeling it may have to get physically taken out :/ i tried tweezers but couldnt get them in there.
i feel like even if i do take it out my drive might be broken now, and then next time i put a cd in, the same issure will happen :/
i SUPPOSE ill have to go to the apple store - is that what you guys suggest? i know how expensive apple is and i wouldnt be suprised if to fix my drive or get the cd out it would cost a couple hundred bucks.
does anyone have a sollution? and if i end up do having to go to the Apple store, how much would this probably cost to fix?
    thanks alot
    -Mike

You've tried the reboot with the trackpad button pressed. Have you tried the Terminal command?
Launch Applications > Utilities > Terminal and type drutil list. You should see the drive listed with a number. Type drutil tray eject or drutil tray eject 1 (i.e. the number of the drive in the response to the first command).
But, most likely you'll need to take it in. The Genius Bar at an Apple Store can diagnose the problem, and give you a repair estimate.

  • G3 is stuck on Happy Mac

I had bought a new fresh copy of OS X 10.0 and installed it on my Hard Drive...about 5 times now. Theres no third party hardware in the machine, but the videocard does tend to show trails of random things and colorwhen im working in Mac OS desktop and other programs. So i started to play a game and couldnt get out of it cause the screen went black so i hit the reset button on the front, the monitor showed black but the mac chime sounded. So i reset the PRAM by Command,Option,P and R and now the happy mac face is there only the hard drive does nothing,i hear no loading at all. The harddrive isnt old and works very well,im just wondering why the machine wont progress any further than the Happy Mac Icon. Ive actually reinstalled OS X 5 times now cause of this problem and each time something locks up the system. Firmware is up to date,it has plenty of RAM and Hard Drive Space so what could be the problem?

The minimum version of Mac OS X worth loading on a Mac is 10.2. Previous versions are not worth the pain and suffering.
Mac OS X 10.0 is really not very stable or very good. No one wants to support it because it works badly, if at all.

  • I have 2 cds stuck in my mac pro..... :-(

How can I get them out or should I take it in for repair?

yeah, I gotta say, that takes creativity
if using the Terminal command doesn't work or pressing F12 doesn't work, then carefully pull down the optical drive shutter to reveal the face of the optical drive. There you should find a small hole. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into that hole.  The tray should release enough for you to grab it and open it, hopefully, letting you get those 2 cd's back.  BUT- I don't know if you're talking about the Mac Pro desktop or the MacBook Pro portable. big difference.
If it's the latter, take it down to the Genius Bar after making an appointment.  If it's the former, try what's been suggested. As a last resort, shut the machine down, let it cool ,take off the side panel. touch something metal, and pull the optical drive cage straight out towards you. Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the optical drive from the cage, and disconnect the cable at the back. You are now free to remove the top cover of the optical drive, retrieve your cd's, put the cover back on the drive, replace the drive in the cage, plug the cables back into it and slide the cage back in, replace the side panel and start 'er up. Hopefully you have learned something from this experience....
