Cd stuck in remote drive

I have a cd that had pic files burned to it now stuck in my remote drive.
I can't access the pictures or get the thing to eject!! I have tried "command E'
use the Eject option from the drop down menu.
dragging the icon to the trash can and even
restarting my computer then holding down the mouse while it powers back up...
Nothing is working!!!

Try option 6 on this list.  I do not know if it will work or not on an external drive:
If not, open the external drive and remove the disk.
Ciao.

  • No contact with itunes on remote drive after ssd upgrade

I`ve just installed a 128 gb ssd on my white macbook 2008 and made a clean install of snow leopard.
Before that, I had my itunes music on a remote drive, connected to Time Capsule.
I followed Apples instructions on how to have itunes music on a remote disc.
In the beginning it functioned well. The music could play, and everything seemed to be well.
But when I restarted my computer and turned on the itunes again, the configuration had changed back again, saying that the (empty) itunes media folder was on the ssd disc.
This was not a problem before. So I guess it has something to do with the configuration of the clean install of snow leopard (?).
I´m also uncertain if it is a problem that Finder says that I am connected to Time Capsule and the remote disc as a guest. I tried to change this, to stay connected as the user of the computer. But everytime it changes back to "guest" (on the other hand, guest is configured with both read og write privilege).
    So now I`m stuck.
Hope someone can give a solution to this.

    Update:
What seems to happen after a restart, is that I need to first open Finder, then open Time Capsule and the remote drive. And then I can open itunes and play the music.
But this is a quite heavy procedure, and I didnt need to do this before the ssd installation and clean installation of snow leopard.
So I still hope someone can help solving this, so that I can easily just open itunes and play my media.

  • What are the penaltys to operating lion from a remote drive?

My Macbook pro with Lion installed  is runing slower and slower and I have tried all of the fixes that I can find on the internet including, clearing the SMC, resetting the PRAM, defraging my 1 TB internal disk, run Kaspersky, run Mackeeper, fixing permissions. I have done all of these multiple times without much improvement if any. There are times when I can type a sentence into mail and watch as the program runs one or two words behind my typing. I have 8 Gig of memory, 2.66 intel dual core. The rotating spere is my worse enemy and I am sick of it.
I need to run Windows 7 in a paralles VM much of my work time. I use the computer for architectural work and I run an Autocad Program called Revit in the VM. Other times, I need to use Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom in the Lion enviroment. I never try any more to have the VM running and photoshop at the same time - I could go on vacation and back before I get the machine to respond in that circumstance. I have tweated the amouts of memory allowed to both without seeing any real change. I suspect at times video card problems but have turned off acceleration in the Autocad enviroment to get around it.
The one thing that I haven't done and don't want to do is a clean install of Lion. This problem has been progressive and I doubt if the problem orginates with Lion but who knows? So I got this idea, I could install Lion on a cleaned 500 GB remote drive and then install Paralles and Windows 7 in that version of Lion. Then I could boot from the remote drive where there is nothing else installed and Paralles/Autocad/Lion would have total free access to all of the resources of the computer by itself. Do you think this will work? I realize that it would have no effect on the programs installed and their slow response time for the internal drive but I could almost live with that.
If this improves proformance for Autocad on the remote drive, does that imply that a clean install of Lion on my internal drive would fix the current problems? I do not want to go to a windows POS to solve this problem with all of its inablity to start up and shut down and blue screens - been there, done that. But frankly, I'm not that far away from the same kind of time wasting computer issues with my Macbook.
Any help will be appreciated and I am willing to try almost anything.

  • Access denied to Aperture backup on external drive.  When I hold the comman key adn open aperture to acces a remote drive I receive the message "There was an error opening the database for teh library "/Volumes/VERBATIM HD/Aperture Library BU.aplibrary".

When I attempt to open an Aperture backup on a remote drive using the Command key when opening Aperture., I receive the message-
    How do access these files?

How do I copy the libray onto another drive?  Drag & drop?  Can I put it onto my iMac drive without loosing the Aperture files already there?
yes, you can drag the library to your internal drive. if it has the same name as your current Aperture library rename it or drag it to a different folder.
I followed the instrucitons when formatting the drive, although I would not rule out an operator error
You can see the name of the file system on the drive, when you select the drive in the Finder and press the key combination ⌘I (for File > Get Info). The file system will show in the "General" brick of the Info panel.

How do I remove a disk stuck in the drive of my iBook G4?

  • I have a CD stuck in the drive.  Is there are quick fix or do I need to take it into an Apple store.  I have a MacBook Pro 15"

I have a disc stuck in the drive.  Is there a fix I can perform or do I need to bring my MacPro to the Apple store?
    Phil

    Here are some standard remedies.
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • I have a dvd stuck in the drive and as I can not boot is there a way of removing the dvd ?

    Hi
I have a dvd stuck in the drive and as I can not boot is there a way of removing the dvd ?

Boot with the option key down.  You will see a window showing all the bootable systems.  Select the OSX boot and hit return.  Once you are booted into OSX, use the Startup Disk system preferences to change your default boot volume.

  • Opening my iMac - CD stuck in the drive

Hey, I'm in serious need of help, if anyone has a second. My sister stuck a CD in the drive of our intel iMac while she had honey on her hands, and it's stuck in the drive now. Would you believe she's 16? Haha.
But seriously, we need to crack the iMac open and manually remove the disc and clean the drive, and if anyone knows how this is done, advice would be very well appreciated. Thanks!
    Chris

Hi Chris and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
I second the motion to take the iMac in for service. It's not just the CD that could be the issue here, but the optical drive too.

  • DVD stuck in disc drive

    Hi everybody,
I currently have a DVD stuck in my disc drive. I fell asleep yesterday night watching the DVD using the "DVD Player" application that is the default for playing a DVD. When I woke up, DVD Player wouldn't quit and I had to force quit the program. I didn't use the DVD Player for the rest of the day, but in the evening, I tried to reopen DVD Player to finish the DVD. It said: "There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found. [-70012]" I tried to eject the disc by pressing the "eject" button on the keyboard, but that did absolutely nothing. Now the DVD is stuck in the drive, not showing up on my computer, and I am not able to eject it. What can I do to get it out?
    Thanks
    -Marsha

Apart from the fact that you would need to use the mouse button, rather than the MBP's trackpad button, no, it shouldn't make any difference. Try shutting down the Mac (rather than restarting), then booting it up again while holding down the primary mouse button.
Another trick is to start up Disk Utility and , if the disc is visible, eject it from there.
Sometimes, if the problem is actually due to the drive itself not being recognised as present, a "PRAM reset" will make it appear again.
On PowerPc Macs you can achieve the same result using "open firmware" commands, but unfortunately these don't work with the Intel models.
    Cheers

  • 2 cd's are stuck in disc drive

i have 2 cds stuck in disc drive an do not have phone service for apple care help nor can i get to a service center

Then you'll have to either wait until you can get the machine to a service provider or remove the drive, take the cover off it, and remove the discs manually. You can find good illustrated instructions for removing the drive here:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Browse/MacBook_Pro
Be careful to pick the right instruction set for your particular MBP model, and don't try the do-it yourself procedure unless you have the necessary tools.

  • CD stuck in optical drive

I recently broke my hard drive with a magnet(on accident mind you i'm not a retard) but i put the install cd into the drive and it wouldn't recognize the hard drive that is there. I plan to put in a new hard drive myself but I want to take out the CD that is in there right now

To remove it you will need to be able to boot the computer. Try using your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. As soon as the menu bar appears select Terminal application from the Utilities menu. After the Terminal loads enter the following at the prompt then press RETURN:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
This should eject the disc if it's not stuck and the drive's mechanical eject mechanism isn't damaged or jammed.

  • CD stuck in the drive, how to remove it?

I have a CD stuck in the drive, most likely by the up-lifting of the label. How can I eject this CD?

You failed to mention what kind of Mac you have...  there are two different kinds of DVD drives.
with a Mac Pro, the dvd drive has a tray, so you just manually open the drive door (a damp fingertip helps) and firmly push a straightened paper clip into the small hole below the tray on the right side. This forces the opening gears to turn, unseating the tray. Hook the edge of the tray and gently slide it out.
The laptop "slot loading" drives are more difficult.
