CD STUCK IN SUPERDRIVE - NOT RECOGNIZABLE BY OS - VERY, VERY URGENT.

Hello fellow apple users. I just came back from an Apple Store (irony, urgh) and upon inserting my Snow Leopard Installing CD, it got stuck halfway, so I.. forced it in a little. Stupid, I know.
And it got stuck, very stuck.
But thing is, **general tips** (rebooting, using DiskUtility, Terminal commands, etc) don't work because THE SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DISK, meaning that according to my computer there's nothing in there.
The OS is fine and all, but meh... I just want it out! Will using a plastic knife work? I already tried the credit card manual method, but it's way too in for it.
Help? It's very important.

How much shoving did you have to do to get it to disappear. If it was alot (like if you felt like the process was scratching the **** out of the disc) then you may well have damaged internal components of the drive and it will require replacing. The techs, knowing this, and knowing that they aren't authorised to open or repair the drive itself (it gets diagnosed by the tech locally and then sent back to the factory as an exchange for a replacement under warranty) will have to charge you for a new part from apple and the out-of-warranty replacement labour and that figure could well exceed $500, possibly by a long way!
If the disc insertion wasn't so damaging they may elect to just open the drive and hope it works ok once the disc is removed. This will cost you about $80-$150 for the labour and will indicate that you've chosen a shop that has nice people running it. The work wont be guaranteed to work if the drive turns out to be damaged, tho.
*NOTE: in either case your warranty for the whole computer will be void after the fix, so things will become REALLY expensive if future repairs are ever needed.
If possible, you should use long flat tweezers to attempt to locate and remove the disc. If you get it out and the drive is damaged, then just take it in and say it isnt working anymore. Say nothing more than that. They'll deem it faulty and under warranty and have it replaced for free, without any further investigation. Dont leave scratches or mark around the slot when/if you remove the disc.
Also try holding down the space bar from the moment you power up till the desktop has fully booted up. Try the previously mentioned method of holding down the mouse button continuously from the moment you power on till everything is booted or the disc ejects. You should hear a sound from the drive near the start of boot, but that isnt the eject happening (its just a hardware check). Keep the mouse button held down and wait till you hear it making more noises.
Otherwise hold down option till you get a series of startup system choices appear on screen. At this point, Before you choose a system and continue, try the eject button and try Command-E and try command-Y
Lastly, reset the SMC and NVRAM (PRAM)- consult relevant instructions on how to do it for your model. This isnt likely to be the answer but as a last resort, stranger things have happened.

  • ODS request  not able to delete very urgent

    Hi All,
    I am loading the data  from r/3 system to bw (bi 7.0), the objct is Obpartner master data loading into this data targets are 0bp_o01, 0bpartner. there is no further loads.
    while loading the delta load i am getting error message like " last delta not updated, repeat the last delta' .while i am checking in the monitor scree the request it's showing red , but in the data targets the request are showing green colour.
    Note - i tried to chnge the status from green to red but it's not allwoing to change the status because " the requeest is partially activated u can't chage the status".
    in the data targets i am trying to delete the the request but i am not able to delete the request, while selected request only for deletion it's asking for rollback.if u click on continue rollback  all request will be going to delete.
    please advise me is there any way to delete the request , i will assign the full points for right answer.

    This should work ..
    The request cannot be deleted in the administration of the data target, make sure that there is no data in the activation queue of the ODS for this request. If there is data nevertheless, make sure that table rsodsactreq contains all entries for this request and ODS in the operation field has the value 'U'.  If this is the case, use transaction SE16 to delete all entries for this request and ODS object from tables rsiccont, rsmonicdp and rsodsactreq. Then set the 'from date' to a value that is older than the oldest loaded request in this ODS in the administration of the data target and choose 'Refresh'. This corrects the administration. The data in the activation queue does not cause a problem, it is deleted the next time all new requests are activated.

    Hi,
    You must indicate the "specified" attribute in order to inset or update any field that is not string type.
    For example, I guess that your program do something like:
    obj.date=%%date expression%%
    but you must do also:
    obj.date_specified=true
    That is for any field like number, date, boolean, etc...that is not a string.

    Hi Peter,
    Once loaded to PSA in DTP you have the option of FULL or DELTA ,full loads all the data from PSA and DELTA loads only the last load of PSA.

    I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. I am really fed up and would really appreciate a response.

    Dont know if accidently fixed it or not i got it to be recogniced by itune im restoring it now.  i held the power/sleep button till turned off.  then while holding the home button under the screen connected it to the usb wire .. also i change the usb port i was using on my computer dont know if it was luck or what but glad i got my phone back.

    Perhaps the reason that your username and password are not recognised is because you have caps lock on.

    tell us what actions you take to get Apple not to recognize your email address...
    Are you formatting it correctly? - username @ someDomain .com <- NO Spaces (I did it so the system wouldn't make an email link out of it)
    Tell us what happens when you realize  that Apple is "not recognizing" your email. What message do you get, exactly? Take screenshot of the entire screen for context

  • G4 does not recognize replacement SuperDrive

    Dual G4 Firewire 1.25 GHz (mirror door) has a DVD/ROM drive and I just replaced the SuperDrive with the Apple Original DVR-104WB (Pioneer).
    The system profiler does not recognize the newly installed SuperDrive. I am running OSX10.4. I installed PatchBurn 4.
    Any suggestions?

    I remember that there was a little green plastic thing on the pins. So I just need to move it to the pins designated for master.
    Does it matter that the SuperDrive is in the lower bay? A TOSJICA DVD-ROM SD-R1312 drive is in the upper bay. Do I need to make an adjustment to that drive if it has a plastic thing designating it as master?
    I was looking at another discussion: "More Comments on MDD G4 Lower Bay Superdrive Cooling" (http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/archives/apr03/042103.html) Someone with a configuration similar to mine was changing the jumper to master but ended up putting the superdrive in the upper bay because he thought it would cool better.
    Since I have to take the drives out anyway, what do you think about reversing their position in the bays so that the SuperDrive is on top?
