Hello, my name is Tyesha Woods I onw a Macbook and my dvd hard drive will not ejected my cd ,I have tryed everthing I could would you please help me?

    Hi Tyesha,
    Your DVD won't eject?
Restart the MacBook - as it is restarting, hold the trackpad button down. This will force it to eject. The disk should eject before you get to the login screen or desktop.

My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?  It is her computer, a iMac G3 or G4 with superdrive, the one with the ball shaped base.   Thank you.

It's a tray loading drive, there should be a little hole next to it, just large enough for a paper clip.  Stick the end of the paper clip in it and the tray should open.

  • A dvd will not eject from my brand new IMac. I have done every suggestion in the help area. Any suggestions on how to get this DVD out of the computer?

My brand new IMac will not eject a DVD. I have tried everything that was suggested in "help". It didn't recognize the dvd, and whenever I try to eject it, it is not highlighted. I have tried to restart while holding the track pad, and nothing happened at all. The dvd is from the library...so it needs to be returned! Any other suggestions?

Have you tried all of these?
    1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
    2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
    3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
    4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
    5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
    6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
    7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:

    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.

If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above.
To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • DVD Will Not Eject, iDVD Restarts Itself Over and Over

I have a DVD that simply will not eject itself no matter what. Instead, it starts to eject, then iDVD starts up, and begins to play the DVD. I have unchecked "Start DVD" in iDVD's preferences and reviewed the forum articles about stuck DVDs. Reboot does not help Safe Boot does not help. Restart wth right mouse button held down does not help, perhaps because my mouse is Apple and there is no Right Mouse Button?
I'm not about to enter terminal commands because I have no idea of what I'm ding at teh system level. Any ideas?
Thanks if you can help, Signed:

    HI,
Try restarting your iMac while holding down the eject key.
If that didn't help, open Disk Utility (Applications / Utilities).
Select the disk on the left side of the window then click the Blue eject button in the menu.

  • Optical drive will not eject

My Satellite A205-S5814 optical drive will not eject when I press the eject button.
Before this problem started, the drive would eject, but sometimes a blank screen would immediately appear after the tray ejected and then the computer would restart itself and give me the option of restarting in safe mode.
Please let me know what may be wrong.
    Thanks.

Your machine is booting into a Windows partition.
Apple does not support Windows. They do provide "Boot camp" which allows a knowledgeable person to install XP in a drive partition on a Mac.
However "boot camp" still in "beta" status and some of the keyboard mapping is not the same as a Windows PC, because it's a Mac, not a PC.
Mac's come with Mac OS X standard, not Windows. The copy of Windows you got on the machine was likely put there for demonstration purposes, not for sale. If you know how to hack Windows, I'm sure you could bypass the admin password, that's a "store trick" to sell a product with a illegal copy of Windows.
All Mac's will open the c.d. tray if you reboot holding the mouse button down with a wired keyboard.
You can also reboot again holding "option key" to select a drive partition to boot from, there should be a Mac OS X and a Windows partition, however it's possible the Mac OS X partition was erased.
You can stick the Mac OS X installer disk in the c.d. tray, close it and reboot holding "c". It will boot off the disk. There you can select Disk Utility from the Installer menu and Erase w/Zero the internal hard drive. When finished Quit and install Mac OS X Tiger. Your "store copy" of Windows will be gone of course.
If your unfamiliar with Mac's, Mac OS X, "Boot Camp" with Windows, I suggest you have someone help you. Your in very deep too early in your learning curve.
You'll really need to learn Mac OS X first, then you can play around with "Boot-Camp" and a legal copy of XP in a drive partition.
With Mac OS X your machine will be very safe from internet threats, but when your in "Boot Camp" under XP, your just like any Windows PC, completely vulnerable.

  • HOW CAN I GET A DVD TO EJECT? I HEAR IT MOVING OR TURNING BUT IT WILL NOT EJECT.

HOW CAN I EJECT A DVD? I hear it moving or turning but it will not eject.  I was burning a voice mail memo to it.

More info on your iMac model and Mac OS version will help us help you. Of the three families of iMacs made from 1998 to 2005 this forum covers, both tray- and slot-loading drives were used and they can different troubleshooting methods.
However, one thing that works on many Mac products is to restart the computer and hold down the mouse button while the computer boots.

  • Discs Will Not Eject from Internal or External Burner

Am attempting to transfer my entire iTunes libraries to iTunes on a new PC. I go to backup on disk, choose "Backup entire iTunes Library and playlists", select the burner, and leave preferred speed at max possible. It says it will take six discs, I say OK, tray pops open, I insert disk and off it goes. At then end of the burn of disk one, it says insert a blank disc.
At this point, disc one will not eject no matter what. It does not eject automatically, it does not respond to manual commands from iTunes to eject, it does not respond to hitting the eject button. This is to say that the disc is captured and the tray will not open.
I have tried to burn the backup from the internal burner as well as from a USB external with the same results. No matter what, the disc will not eject. I have tried several combinations of sequences of commands, wasted 10 discs now (they are all disc burn #1 as I have gotten no further).
I want to transfer all of my extensive iTunes stuff to my new PC. Can anyone help me?

That is my exact question. I want to know how I can indicate a different drive to eject

  • Our dvd will not eject

The cd dvd will not eject. Are there any tricks out there to help get this problem figured out?
    jwe67

use the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, hold down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-4 again.

  • Powerbook will NOT eject disks

I know there are many threads on this subject: but it seems this Powerbook has a very strange problem as it will NOT eject disks.
IT IS NOT A SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION
I have opened up the unit and gently pushed a thin knife inside the front section of the superdrive itself, and it seems there is some kind of catch that has come down and stuck at the front. About 20mm wide, making it impossible for the DVD in the drive to be ejected.
Is there some weakness in a component part that causes this?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

However, I have heard that if you turn your Mac off and leave it off overnight, the stuck arm may retract on its own. I think the arm is there to prevent you from inserting another disc if there is already one in the drive, but apparently it can get stuck.
Here's hoping something here will help.
    Good luck!
