CD won't convert to MP3

I tried to burn some protected ACC files purchased from iTunes and then reimport them as MP3, but it does seem to work.
My preferences are set to burn as Audio and Import as MP3 encoded.
version of iTunes is 7.0.2. Does this mean that I am stuck with only the ability to play any songs I purchase via iTunes on my iPod or computer?

Nothing happens. I select import and it just blinks. The CD doesn't show up in iTunes play list either.
I can select it for import from my desk top.
When I check to see if an additional copies did in fact import, nothing new shows up.
When I play the song from the CD it automatically plays the iTunes song in the song list and not from the CD.
Am I just copying the playlist and not the actual file to the CD?

If they will play but will not convert, you probably have DRM "protected" files.  Were they purchased prior to mid-2009?
If so, and you don't want to burn, your choice is either to replace them, or to upgrade them by using Match.  For the latter option, see
iTunes Store: iTunes Plus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
and look at the section on "Can I upgrade my previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?"

  • Converting an MP3 to WAV -- How can I convert an MP3 to wav format, 16 bit

How can I convert an MP3 to wav format, 16 bit, 44,1 khz? I like the program Switch which I know can convert MP3s, but how to I set it up for the specific settings that I need?

Just import into a logic session. Then bounce at the specs you require. Logic or Waveburner, iTunes and even Quicktime I think can each do this easily.
A question though. I am assuming you are converting an MP3 to 44.1/16 bit just so you can play the file in a consumer quality CD player?? IF so - that makes sense.
But if you are doing this because you think it will improve the sound quality of your MP3, I will save you some time here. It won't improve the sound quality at all. It will just turn the MP3 into a larger audio file.
44.1/16 bit resolution enables you to have a much better sounding file than MP3 formats, but not by going at it this way.
No offense to you if you know all of this already. I am assuming that you may not know this - because if you did you would also likely know how to convert an audio file.

  • Option to Convert to MP3 Gone?

My son recently bought a Sony Walkman. He transferred over his itunes library onto the walkman and all but about 8 songs transferred. Those songs say they are m4p and the walkman will not play them. Ok, so I go into his library and right click so I can convert it to an mp3 file and . . . . there is no option to do this. I know there used to be and my daughter has it as an option in her library on her laptop. I checked my laptop and I don't have the convert to mp3 option either. What the heck am I missing? Halp! Thanks.

    Hello,
I have tried changing my import settings for Mp3 encoder, but in the box where you do that it tells you that the Mp3 encoder does not work with songs purchased in the iTunes store. I use to be able to convert my purchases to Mp3s in older versions of iTunes. I have songs that I have bought that won't burn to CD in itunes keeps telling me that an error has occurred but won't tell me what the error is . So I need to get back to the option of creating Mp3s. I've tried deauthorizing my computer and reinstalling iTunes, and that still didn't work. I aam in dire need of help. I DON'T WANT the option of AAC versions.
    Thanks

  • Imported files won't convert

I'm trying to import some of my own audio files (mp3 and wav formats) but when I do so they supposedly 'import' but won't convert and drop into the timeline. Other files (such as those I've downloaded from iTunes) work fine. I need some ideas about what' wrong with my files. Thanks.

Try converting them in iTunes: http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/NeverFail.html
Believe it or not I once had to convert an mp3 to an mp3 to get it to work properly.

  • I have purchased songs recently and some won't covert to mp3

I have just purchased an album from i-tunes and two tracks won't covert to mp3s I'm using Lion and the latest i-tunes. never had this problem before, the tracks start but stop with an error -3 whatever that is. also thought about downloading again but they don't appear in the i-cloud, whereas previous purchases do? any ideas gratefully received

I've had this same problem recently with my itunes purchases. The only solution that I've found is to go back into itunes, select the file that I purchased previously and reaquire it to try converting the new file.

  • Converting to mp3 problems

I know how to convert files to mp3, and I have converted many of my songs to burn them using Windows Media Player (it is faster on my computer). A few that I bought from the iTunes store won't convert. When I go to convert, it brings up a message that says "File cannot be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats." Is there any way around this?

  • Convert to MP3 script

OK, I know if I go into advanced and importing and change my importing encoder to MP3 then I can right click on a DRM FREE song and convert to MP3. However, I always forget to change it back and then when I mean to import songs using AAC it imports using MP3.
Is there any script out there where I can just right click and choose convert to MP3 without changing my import settings? I have to convert to MP3 quite often and would love to not have to do that every time.

Take a look at QuickConvert. If that won't do the job for you, there might be something else on Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes that would do.

  • Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert 206 Page Word Document into PDF

    Hi there
As menetioned above, Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert my 206 Page Word Document into a PDF.  The Word document was originally a PDF file that I converted to Word and it has split all the text into sections.
It sounds like converting a PDF into Word isn't the best way to edit, re-format and then save as a PDF again.  I would love to hear your advice on this.
Thanks very much for your help!
    Fiona

First before you recreate the PDF from the Word Document.
    In word: Open Document
Next open a new Blank docment
switch back to Word click on the ¶ button
scroll to of go to very end of docment.
click just to right of the perion in the last sentence.
now go to very beginning of document
Hold down the Shift and click to the right of first letter in document.
    Now choose copy.
    Now switch to Blank document
    Choose Paste special.
    Now choose Text only.
If works all the words will be there spaced correct but with no ¶'s.
    Now insert returns as desired.
Now save as a docx file under a different name.
IF you are on a Mac use the following directions:
go to File menu > Print > PDF Hold down PDF button until Context menu pops up.
    Choose adobe PDF.
follow steps when the first window opens.
Save as PDF in desired location.
Now open the PDF in Acrobat. Document should be properly formatted and ready to go.
AS you've found The conversion is not seamless. Acrobat doesn't distingish between automatic end of line breaks and Returns and you have to put the pieces back again.  I wish Adobe and MS would get over the jealouscy of each other and share howcode works so Thatapplications could work seamlessly together.  BUt they never will.

Everybody's wrong wrong wrong. You don't need garageband. Select the song, go to info. You need to select a start and stop time for the song that can't be any longer than 40 seconds in length. Then in advanced mode you convert the song to acc. once done locate the file on the computer. it should end in .m4a . Change the a to an r so it reads .m4r Drag the file to the desktop, double click and it ends up in ringtones folder.

  • HT1349 I have a large Windows iTunes library (18k+ songs, 650+ movies, 2.4K TV shows) and since upgrading to iTunes 11 files are disappearing from my library. Some music files re-appear in the cloud which means I have to re-download and re-convert to MP3.

iTunes 11 is rapidly becoming a disaster for me. I have a dedicated Windows 7 machine running iTunes to service 3 Apple TV's, 2iPhones, 2iPods, and an iPad. Itunes 11 is very sluggish with my large library and has now started 'losing' files to the cloud.  This means that music I purchased in 2005 is being removed from my library and subsequently seems to become available as a ne cloud download.  This may well be because I convert all ACC files to MP3 and delete the ACC (my ears are too old to care about the reduction in quality). Either way, it's detrsoying my playlists and means I have to re-download files.
Does anyone know how to stop this?  I have no interest in the cloud (my library is too big and contains hundreds of ripped CD's and Vinyl records that can't be matched).
    Thanks

Because back in the early days very few devices supported AAC so converting to MP3 allowed me to use iTunes and other devices (like a $1000 dollar MP3 player with a 3.5" hard disk drive that pre-dated iPods ) as well as my gen 1 and 2 iPods.  I can't hear the difference (I'm old...) so the files being smaller is still an advantage (even though I have 64Gb iPods and iPhones these days.  Anyway, the major issue is iTunes deleting the MP3's and messing up my playlists because the file it downloads just goes in the library - not the original playlists. The secondary issue is how do I know it's truly replacing all the files it deletes. It's just scary and I don't like it.
BTW, I'm not anti-cloud and in fact use iCloud extensively with my iPhones/Apple TV's for photo sharing/backups but iCloud is useless for media sharing. I have just over 2tb of media data shared on my iTunes server (and remotely accessible on my iPhone/iPad using WebDav to my home server).
...and none of my media is pirated. I have crates of vinyl, CD's,DVD's, and Blu-Rays along with thousands of iTunes store receipts!

I used to use the free version of Adobe Reader to convert my publisher files to pdf files. When I was making a booklet for our hockey team, it said I had to buy it. Now I bought it and it won't convert the files. I am ready to throw this computer out the window!! Can you tell me what is the problem? No it does not exceed 100 M. either.

Adobe Reader never converted Publisher files to PDF, for free, never. I suspect you use to have the (paid for) Adobe Acrobat. Sometimes people have Acrobat (more than $300 worth) and install Adobe Reader over the top, losing that valuable software.
That said, if you subscribed to PDF Pack it should do this conversion. What exactly happens now.
