CD won't eject. Some kind of bar is in the way. I have no money no warranty

I am trying to eject a disk but there is a small vertical bar in the center of the slot. I probed it with a library card as I tried to eject it. There is a small wall behind the vertical bar/pin that lowers and tries to let the CD out but the pin doesn't get out of the way. The CD comes up and tries to go out but just rams into this vertical bar/pin. It then gives up and goes backdown to remount. I've seen lots of topics about stuck cd's but they seem to be software problems. Tell me more about the credit card fix.

When i last opened it I accidentally switched the short screw over the drive under the keyboard with a much longer one. That was the "bar" in the way. I had impaled the drive. I removed the screw and now everything is fine in and out.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

I've just brought some video from itune, but realised the I should have brought the SD version instead of HD version as my iPad didn't have enough storage. Can I change that from HD to SD?

My ipod touch won't charge. I let it run all the way down, and now it shows a red empty battery, won't turn off or orn.

My ipod touch won't recharge after I let it run all the way down. It shows an empty battery with a tiny bit of red, and a spiky unblinking circle on the batery. I can't turn it off or slide the slider. I tried to charge it for 8 hours and nothing.

My iPod (2G)'s cable won't go into my iPod's slot all the way.

The cable won't go into my iPod's slot all the way. I'm not really sure why it does this though. I mean the cable that connects to the iPod simply sticks out at the right end. Normally I shouldn't be able to see any of the metal that is the cable. Also I'm positive that the cable isn't broken, I've already tried my house mate's iPhone cable. It appears to sync alright but when I try to charge it it'll show that battery plug symbol inside the battery meter at the top right hand corner of the screen. What I mean by this is that my iPod's battery could show that it is about 50% full and when I try to charge it it'll say it's completely full. Any ideas on how to fix this? Should I call the support line?

Are you saying that the iPhone cable works right? Did the iPod cable ever work? Have you carefully compared the cable that did work with the one that did not work?

Some kind of glue coming from the LCD-monitor

My husband gave me a BB pearl for Christmas last year (08)….but suddenly, a couple of weeks ago (maybe months), I started to get some kind of glue from the “monitor”…
I called T-Mobile right away, and they said that as we did not pay for the insurance, they cannot do anything for this issue…They also said we couldn’t claim the guarantee because they have never heard anything about glue coming out from the monitor…
Does anybody face something like this?

I haven't heard of that, yea it is possbile I suppose.
If I were you, I would take it back to the specific Tmobile retail store where it was purchased and demand the replacement in warranty since it it still less that a year old.

Lock Screen photo show's up under some kind of washout in front the image is not clear.

When I go to the wallpaper section in settings I choose a photo for my lock screen, but when I turn off the screen of my phone and turn it back on the photo show's up behind some kind of washout or something, a foggy screen is in front of my picture and I only can see the colors of the image behind but not the clear photo.

I had the same issue, as well as missing the Date.
So I forced restart (top and face button pressed at the same time for a few seconds),

Need some help killing threads (not in the way already mentioned..)

I have read the ways in which we should safely kill a thread - and for the most part i understand that. But my question is HOW to implement it in the way that I need.
Basically I have a multithreaded (ewww) app that really is a large job scheduler running 24/7. It can run anywhere from 1 to 15 jobs at a given time. This is fine. What i need is to have the ability to 'kill' a job when I need to. When the app daemon decides its time to run a certain job (based on business logic) it kicks one off, which is a class I made that implements Runnable.

when its time to start a job i do the usual:

Now, this comes to my problem of where/how to kill the job (if needed). A SchedulerProcessThread is linear and finite so it will always have a termination point - it never loops. And when one is kicked off - i do not have a reference to it anymore - I mean, I couldnt if i am constantly running new jobs, potentially hundreds every hour. And jobs can be started in various places in the app, depending upon whether others are already running, etc.
I wish to implement the do-while (alive) logic on the job thread. So in the 'run()' method of my SPT class, I would like the:
while (alive) {
doProcessing();
But how can i invoke a method on my class [SPT] so that it changes the alive var from true to false when i do not have a reference to it?
As a side note, I have a command prompt on the app whereby i can call up all the running 'jobs' which is a list of the running threads under a threadgroup called 'soqjob' (all new Threads that are started with a passing param of and SPT object are under the 'soqjob' threadgroup). So now i can see all those 'soqjob' threads which are currently running Thread objects that have been passed new instances of an SPT class.
Is there anyway i can grab the 'soqjob' thread of my choice and somehow access my SPT class that was originally passed to it in the Thread constructor? if so, then I could pass in the command to stop the do-while loop.
Hmm - does any of this make sense? If i can sum up, the problem is i do not know how to access my own SPT class once I have passed it into a thread object and invoked that thread object's 'start()' method. if i can do that, then i can switch the ALIVE var from true to false and thereby kill the SPT job i need.
Any ideas?

I would add a Collection (synchronized) to the Scheduler that holds a reference to all the Processes. Pass a reference of the Scheduler to the Processes so that when a Process is done, it can remove itself from the Collection.

DVD won't eject, even though it shows up on the Desktop

Got this iMac just before the intel iMacs came out. Everything has been working fine until now. My brother put an apparently really thin DVD in the drive, its recognized and will play in DVD Player. But when I press the eject button, all I here is it spinning. After that it obviously falls back into the DVD slot and DVD player automatically opens up and starts to play the DVD.
Any ideas?

L7780 scan bar goes all the way across, but the light is only on for the first 1/2 inch

If one does a scan/copy with the thing open, one can see a bar run from one side to the other, lit in one direction. On my L7780, that light is no longer lit for the entire trip across, resulting in a mostly black scan/copy. What do I do? Repair? Replace?

This seems to be an hardware issue.
You may follow the steps to try resolve the issue.
1) Connect the printer directly to the wall jack (Bypass any surge protectors)
2) Disconnect the power chord from the back of the printer and reconnect it after 30 seconds while you are holding down the power button.
If none of the above steps resove your issue call HP customer support at 1-800-474-6836.

Hi,
That why I recomend the battery (inclucing the UPS). You have to pay more to get an UPS which can run for hew hours.
UPS: Uninterupted Power Supply. Or buy a generator with auto switch, when power out it will automatically start BUT you still need UPS to run your computer for at least few minutes. I actually run UPS in my house but only for 10mins, enought time for my NAS to switch off orderly.
