cdrecord has no permission to write to the device.
You may use k3bsetup to solve this problem.
Do you have trouble with media in general? Maybe you haven't got dbus running? (compare e.g. with)
# .xinitrc
# exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch myWM # or
exec dbus-launch myWM
I'm probably wrong, because if this the case k3b wouldn't find writable media (cd/dvd) at all. But it's just an idea...

  • Socket writing error (URGENT!)

    Hi,
    I'm working on NT4.0 with jdK1.2.
    I'm writing an array of bytes in a Socket OutputStream. The size of the array is about 7k.
    The problem is that i often get a socket writing error(code error = 10053).
    Could anybody help me about this?
    Thanks

    Socket error 10053 occurs when the software causes the connection to be dropped.
    Couple of reasons why this would happen:
    1. There is no space on the socket's queue and the socket cannot receive further connections.
    2. The receiver never acknowledges data sent on a datastream socket.
    To work around this issue, you could try sending the data after setting "TCP_NODELAY" to "false". This needs to be done before you get the input/output streams, and enables Nagles algorithm. A side efect is that the sending becomes slower.
    You could also try acknowledging smaller packets of data.

  • "Error opening for writing" error msg.

    While installing Shockwave Player 12.1.0.150 I received "Error opening for writing" error message. The file C:\Windows\System32\Adobe\Director\SwDir_1210150.dll is missing.
    I uninstalled older versions of it using Add/Delete function of Programs and Features in the Control Panel. My OS is Windows 7 Pro, and default browser is Google Chrome. How/Where to fix this? Thank you in advance.

    SMH  What is up with this download????  NOW, I used the Slim version, it installed with no problem, and in the SysWOW folder where I found the missing .dll file. However, when I check if it's working and it's not. Checked Chrome's plug-ins and it's not there. This is enough to make a bulldog break his chain.

  • Converted vinyl to digital but now when I try to burn the music to a cd it says there is a writing error and kicks out the disc.

    Just converted a bunch of my dad's old vinyl to digital via the ion ez vinal converter.   However when I went to burn the music, which sound fine over the computer, to a cd it says there is a writing error and kicks out the disc.  Can I correct this somehow without having to import these all again?

    Update yrou OS to 10.6.8.
    The problem is not with iTunes or the file so you won't need to import them again.
    Try a different brand of disc.

  • "writing error" prevents CD burning

    In general I can burn my playlists, without trouble, onto blank CDs. These include mixes of music downloaded from I-Tunes and songs copied onto my computer from CDs in my (old fashioned) music library. But there is one playlist which I can not burn. Every time I try an error message appears explaining that the burning failed due to a "writing error". Does anyone know how I can determine which song is causing the problem? I've wasted five blank CDs. Any advice?

    Aha, it is the Beatles! It is possible that those Beatles tracks are in mono.
    When you do the conversion to AIFF, force them into stereo as follows: Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings, set "Import Using" to AIFF encoder. Do not use the automatic setting; instead choose "Custom..." and then set "Channels" to "Stereo," Sample rate to 44.1, and sample Size to 16. OK outta there and use that for the conversion. Then try the burn.
    Let us know if this helps.

  • Error Writing Error response packet, [EA01]

    I found a thread from a couple months ago about this same issue, but I did
    not see a resolution . . .
    We keep getting this error message on one of our 12 POA's:
    35A Error Writing Error response packet. [EA01]
    The problem seems to prevent me from receiving administrative notifications
    from the POA.
    GWPOA.NLM is version 7.00.3, dated January 21,2009. Running on NetWare 6.5

    The fix would be the soap consumer and poa issue. It has no relevance to

  • Writing Error Messages to a file

    we want to write an error message to a file and are wondering what steps to take in doing so...
    thanks in advance

    You can try calling System.setOut() to a custom PrintStream which prints to both a file and stdout.
    The benefit of this is that you can keep calling System.out.*, or System.err.* and it prints normally in addition to printing to a file.
    I wrote a (buggy) logger you can try out which does this. You can use it, although I recommend you look into writing one yourself, as this is buggy (and, knowing myself, probably poorly coded):
    SVN Repository:
    http://timothyb89.homelinux.org/kdrepos/log5j/
    Custom PrintStream:
    http://timothyb89.homelinux.org/kdrepos/log5j/src/org/log5j/Logger.java
    (The LogFileManager ( http://timothyb89.homelinux.org/kdrepos/log5j/src/org/log5j/LogFileManager.java ) does the actual printing to the logfile)
    Note that you might want to try using System.setErr() instead of System.setOut() (and changing calls my Logger made to System.out to System.err as well).
    Hope it works (or you find a better way) ;-)

    You should use WinAPI to do so. Asking in JNI forum (or specialized WinAPI forum) for more details is good idea I think.

  • Bridge CS4 Metadata Writing Errors

    When trying to write info into one field (IPTC Source field) on numerous image files (Select all), Bridge will not respond, it acts as if it is applying the metadata then when files are deselected, nothing. The metadata is not entered in any of the images. Anyone? They are all JPG files, granted there are a lot of them, about 200, but I have been able to make this work in the past and lately bridge has been remarkably quirky in this regard. I have been having similar issues with the keyword function as well.

    May have figured this out,...there was a rogue .pdf in the same folder as the jpgs, removed this file to another folder and all seems to be well. Not sure why .pdf messes metadata writing up though...hmmm

  • Blob writing error      ORA-29532 Java call terminated Unsupported feature

    Hi there,
    I've got the following Java code which tries to write to a BLOB file. It's a version of some code to extract files from a zip archive, but with everything but the erroring call stripped out:
    create or replace and compile java source named zipunpack as
    package org.bristol.cyps;
    import oracle.sql.BLOB;
    import java.util.zip.*;
    public class ZipUnpack
    public static int unpack(BLOB ziparray[], String filename, BLOB filearray[])
    throws java.sql.SQLException, java.io.IOException
    BLOB file = filearray[0];
    java.io.OutputStream fileout = file.setBinaryStream(0L);
    return 1;
    This is published as follows:
    create or replace function zip_unpack (
    pio_zip in out nocopy blob
    , pi_filename in varchar2
    , pio_file in out nocopy blob
    ) return number as language java
    name 'org.bristol.cyps.ZipUnpack.unpack(oracle.sql.BLOB[], java.lang.String, oracle.sql.BLOB[]) return java.lang.Integer';
    And called like so:
    procedure send_zip_file (
    pi_zip in out nocopy blob
    , pi_filename in varchar2
    ) is
    file blob;
    completed integer;
    begin
    dbms_lob.createtemporary (
    lob_loc => file
    , cache => false
    , dur => dbms_lob.call
    completed := zip_unpack(pi_zip, pi_filename, file);
    if completed > 0 then
    bare_html.print_blob(file);
    else
    htp.print('File "' || pi_filename || '" not found');
    end if;
    end;
    This, as far as I can tell from the documentation, should work. Unfortunately, though, it generates an error:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.sql.SQLException: Unsupported feature
    The particular line which is causing the error is the "java.io.OutputStream fileout = file.setBinaryStream(0L);" If I remove this, it runs fine. I'm flumoxed as to why this might be causing an "Unsupported feature" exception when it's documented as being supported. Can anyone shed any light?
    Cheers,
    Robert

    Hi,
    It looks like you are not using 10g JDBC. java.sql.Blob.setBinaryStream is a JDBC 3.0 method. In 9iR2 we added support for jdk14 and added stub methods for JDBC 3.0 behavior without fully implementing them. 10gR1 was the first version where the JDBC3.0 methods were fully supported.
    The workaround is to use the Oracle proprietary method oracle.sql.BLOB.getBinaryOutputStream
