CDDB Database - Can I get names later?

I am planning a road trip and I would like to import all of my CD's while I am sitting in the car doing nothing. However, I cannot access the CDDB Online Database, while I am on the road. When I get to an internet connection, will I be able to update all the song/CD information I had imported while in the car? Or, does it have to be updated when importing?
Also, is there a resource to download Album Artwork for the CD's I have in iTunes? CDDB Database doesn't have it.

KazMan,
If you don't see the names of songs in iTunes (they show up as Track 1, Track 2, and so on), you can connect to the Internet at anytime to have iTunes look up the song information for you.
iTunes uses Gracenote CDDB (CD database) to look up the names of songs and albums. You must have an Internet connection to use Gracenote CDDB. If your Internet connection uses a proxy server, make sure the proxy settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct for your network.
To look up CD info in Gracenote CDDB:-Select the CD in the Source list or Select the Tracks you want names for, from a playlist... one CD at a time works best... then choose Advanced > Get CD Track Names.
This post will start you in the right direction for Album Artwork...

  • Applescript can't get name of front window

    The AppleScript support seems broken or unreliable (at least on OSX 10.10.1).
    For example, this little, very basic script worked in Firefox 33 but now (34?, 35 or 36) NOT anymore:
    tell application "Firefox"
    name of front window
    end tell
    ==>
    error "plugin-container got an error: Can’t get name of window 1." number -1728 from name of window 1
    Hint: If you check the output of the next applescript snippet, you see that the 'windows' don't even get a correct id.
    tell application "Firefox"
    windows
    end tell

    A further hint (tested on firefox version 35 and 36):
    In the script, application 'Firefox' gets replaced by 'plugin-container' when compiling the script !!!

  • How can i get a later version of i movie after 7.1.4 but not the latest one for yosemite.

    i dont want to update to yosemite.  i have version 10.8.5 snow lion and i like it.  have read a lot about yosemite that i didnt want to mess with, such as i tunes 12, i already hated what they did to i tunes when we lost cover flow.  even though i have updates through the mountain lion update my i movie is still version 7.1.4 and i wanted to know if there's any updates i could get up to mountain lion for i movie.

    probably this should help: (Its a direct link to download)
    iMovie 9.0.9
    As the system requirements shows, it can run on OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later.
    Actually you can even go to the 'Mac App Store' on your device, it should automatically show you the compatible version for the OS you are using.

    Could you please help me in the matter that by giving the name of radio group, we can get the names of the radio buttons in that group.
    Thanks for Help,

    U can use below mentioned program unit to get the item type of a block.
    It even returns Radio Group in case the item is a radio group.
    DECLARE
         cur_itm VARCHAR2(80);
         cur_block VARCHAR2(80) := :System.Cursor_Block;
         cur_itm_type VARCHAR2(80);

    I use Snow Leopard.  When I check Mail i get an error message:  You can't use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OS X.  You have Mail 3.6.  I installed Snow Leopard and thought that would include later versions of Mail.  How do I get updte versions of Mail?

    Open it directly from the Applications folder. If you already are, use Pacifist to extract it from the Mac OS X 10.6 install disk.

  • How can i get the lates version of itunes on my macbook? it says i need to download version 10.8.6 first but wont let me download that either

    i recently bought the new iphone 5s and cannot use it becacuse i need to connect it too itunes version 11.1, However it wont let me download it because it says i have to download version 10.8.6 first but wont let me download that either so i have a brand new iphone that is useless because i cant download itunes on my macbook. how can i fix this?

    10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) is an upgrade from Leopard, which you apparently have (10.5.8).
    iTunes 11 requires 10.6.8 (not 10.8.6 as you have typed). If your Mac is an Intel one with at least 1Gb of RAM then you can buy Snow Leopard in the online Apple Store (type 'Snow Leopard' in the search box rather than browsing for it).
    Once installed, download the combo updater to bring it up to 10.6.8:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
    You will then be able to install iTunes 11. However if your Mac has a PPC processor you cannot install Snow Leopard and will be unable to proceed. To check this, choose 'About This Mac' from the Apple menu and look where it says 'Processor' - it needs to say 'Intel' for you to be able to upgrade.

  • Trouble moving file after rename; can't get the new name, what's missing?

    I know I'm missing a statement to redefine this_item after it has been renamed, but I'm too noobed to know how.
    Files I drop into my layersRenameFolder do get renamed, but then the script fails with error (simplified) "can't get <name of pre-renamed file>"
    So I'm struggling with how to reset the variable so finder knows the new name of the files to move them.
    Note, the code is compilations of other scripts and others corrections. I don't claim to be the original author of any of it. Just trying to piece it together.
    Script follows--------
    on idle
    set PathToDesktop to path to desktop as text
    set layersRenameFolder to (PathToDesktop & "On-Line Proofing1:1 Layout Proofs InDesign:LayoutRenameLAYERS:") as alias
    set outFolder to (PathToDesktop & "On-Line Proofing1:1 Layout Proofs InDesign:Out:") as alias
    tell application "Finder" to set these_items to (every file of layersRenameFolder whose kind contains "PDF")
    --Check to see if there are one or more PDF files in the LayersRename folder on the desktop
    if (count these_items) is greater than 0 then
    tell me to activate
    display dialog "Files located. Script starting!" buttons " " default button 1 giving up after 2
    --Go through all PDF files, one at a time
    repeat with PDFfile in these_items
    --rename PDFFile
    set this_item to contents of PDFfile
    set fileName to name of this_item
    set {TID, text item delimiters} to {text item delimiters, "-"}
    if fileName ends with "1.pdf" or fileName ends with "ALL.pdf" or fileName ends with "CAR.pdf" then set newFileName to (text items 1 thru 2 of fileName) & "1.pdf" as text
    set text item delimiters to TID
    end repeat
    end if
    -- move renamed pdfs to out
    tell application "Finder"
    set name of this_item to newFileName
    move this_item to outFolder with replacing
    end tell
    return 5
    end idle

    When you set the name of a file, the result is just the new name, not a full path. You can rebuild the file path by getting the containing folder and adding the resulting name, for example:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #FFEE80;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    tell application "Finder"
    set theContainer to the container of this_item as text
    set name of this_item to newFileName
    move ((theContainer & the result) as alias) to outFolder with replacing
    end tell
    </pre>

  • Get pernr late

    hello friends.
    please anybody tell me in what conditions can we use get pernr late event. can we give get pernr late after end-of-selection. pls explain with an example.
    thanks

    hi
    good
    The GET PERNER is exclusively used in HR ABAP. The GET event gets the node.
    The text below will explain the GET event better.
    This statement defines an event block whose result is triggered by the ABAP runtime environment after submitting an executable program, if the logical database to which the program is linked, provides data in the work area node. The node work area must be declared with the NODES statement (or TABLES). The data can be processed in the event block.
    GET node also controls the behavior of the logical database.
    And GET node Late
    GET node LATE [FIELDS f1 f2 ...].
    Effect
    This statement defines an event block whose result is triggered by the ABAP runtime environment after submitting an executable program, when the logical database has read in all records of node node. For node and FIELDS, the same applies as for the previous variant. Use this event block for final processing actions concerning the hierarchy level of the node.
    We generally use the same when we write the PAYROLL as to get the entire payroll structure from the database.
    reward point if helpful.
    thanks

    works great when the selected picture resides on a volume which is manually mounted or on local volume.
    We have people whose home folder resides on our X server and is automounted. If they try to select a picture from that automounted volume, the script fails with this error (translation from finnish):
    can not get name of alias
    volumename:thefilepath
    is the problem that the volume on which the picture resides is not mounted from finder (the icon is not visible on desktop)?

  • Droplet - getting name of dropped file

    This post does not need answering, as I have already solved the problem described. I have put it here in case it might help someone else save a bit of time. However, feel free to make comments and observations for further enlightenment of myself and others who are grappling with various aspects of AppleScript.
    Recently, I decided to learn to use droplets and open handlers. In my first attempt, I set out to modify an existing script which prompted the user to choose a file which is then processed in various ways. My aim was to drop the file on the new droplet version of the script, with the droplet identifying the file automatically, and have it run as before from there onwards. So far, through trial and error and a fair bit of internet searching, I have been able to work out most things in a reasonably short time. One that took me a while involved getting the name of the file which is dropped onto the droplet - the file name could be anything, but the script needed its name for the various things which happen in the script.
    I quickly discovered that a droplet can quite happily and easily give a list of the names of files inside a folder which is dropped onto it. When it comes to just one single file, it took a bit of work.
    I started off with something like this (with a few variations):
    (the display dialog bit is there to show if I got exactly what I wanted - it's not necessary for the correct running of the droplet, but droplets don't have "Result" and "Event Log" available for seeing what's happening)
    +on open Dropped_File+
    +tell application "Finder"+
    +set NameOfFile to name of Dropped_File+
    +display dialog NameOfFile+
    +end tell+
    +end open+
    There was usually an error message such as: Can't get name of {alias "Macintosh HD:Users:username:Desktop:filename.txt"}, or another one about not being able to make the acquired information into the right data type. Generally I was getting the complete pathway of the file, but couldn't separate out what I wanted from the rest of it.
    As part of my looking for a solution, I tried duplicating the file and getting the name of the copy. Success, in the sense that I could get the name of the copy.
    +on open Dropped_File+
    +tell application "Finder"+
    +set CopyOfFIle to duplicate Dropped_File to desktop+
    +set NameOfCopyOfFIle to name of CopyOfFIle+
    +display dialog NameOfCopyOfFIle+
    +end tell+
    +end open+
    After more experimentation I found the "info for" command (in StandardAdditions), and ended up with the following successful droplet:
    +on open Dropped_File+
    +tell application "Finder"+
    +set NameOfFile to (name of (info for Dropped_File))+
    +display dialog NameOfFile+
    +end tell+
    +end open+
    I hope this saves somebody some time. About a third of my scripting attempts are usually assisted unknowingly by someone else who has been trying something similar and, having succeeded, posted their results online for others to benefit from.

    Hi Pierre,
    I tested both at the same time with the following code:
    +on open Dropped_File+
    +tell application "Finder"+
    +set Name1OfFile to name of item (item 1 of Dropped_File as alias)+
    +display dialog Name1OfFile+
    +set Name2OfFile to name of (item 1 of Dropped_File as alias)+
    +display dialog Name2OfFile+
    +end tell+
    +end open+
    Both versions gave the desired result - just the name of the file - whereas when I had tried using "as alias" (obviously not in the same place and not using "item 1 of") I had received error messages. From memory, I think I had tried "name of (item Dropped_File) as alias".
    I "fiddled" with your suggestion a little, and found that the following (omitting the "item" and "item 1 of") also works:
    +on open Dropped_File+
    +tell application "Finder"+
    +set Name1OfFile to name of item (Dropped_File as alias)+
    +display dialog Name1OfFile+
    +set Name2OfFile to name of (Dropped_File as alias)+
    +display dialog Name2OfFile+
    +end tell+
    +end open+
    It looks the correct placement and usage of "as alias" did the trick.
    Thank you very much for taking the time to examine the problem and come up with a solution which should work equally well under both System 10.4 and 10.5.

  • Can not get my SharePoint Online service up and running....help!!

    Strange thing here!
    this is what I did:
    1.logged into my account, which is [email protected];
    2.click the downfacing triangle right to Admin;
    3.click SharePoint;
    then see the following alert:
    That didn't work
    We're sorry, but [email protected] can't be found in the gsmtrans123-admin.sharepoint.com directory. Please try again later, while we try to automatically fix this for you.
    Here are a few ideas:
    Click here to sign in with a different account to this site.
    This will sign you out of all other Office 365 services that you're signed into at this time.
    If you're using this account on another site and don't want to sign out, start your browser in Private Browsing mode for this site (show me how).
    If that doesn't help, contact your support team and include these technical details:
    Correlation ID: 5086749c-644c-e054-0779-2f8db2d436c0
    Date and Time: 2/15/2014 7:44:15 AM
    URL: https://gsmtrans123-admin.sharepoint.com/
    User: [email protected]
    Issue Type: Partner User Invalid.
    My questions:
    1.How come?
    2.What shoud I do to set up my standlone SharePoint Online service?
    3.Can I get a later expiration date for this disrupption?
    Thanks.

    According to the error message, you are still using the same account.
    [email protected]
    I was able to reproduce the exact same error message when accessing my sharepoint.com site using an account with Global Administrator role, but without the proper licensing.
    What happens if you go to https://gsmtrans123.sharepoint.com, or
    https://gsmtrans123-my.sharepoint.com. Do you see any sharepoint sites, or do you get a error message?
    Have you tried to open this in another browser, or cleared the cache in your current browser?
    Could you try to create a new account, assign it the Global administrator role, and a SharePoint license, and then login to your admin site?
    If all of those fail, you should probably create a Service Request using this form
    https://portal.microsoftonline.com/Support/NewServiceRequest.aspx

  • "Can't get folder 'a'" Error with Applescript

    Here is my complete applescript application. I am supposed to select a series folder, and it goes into the folder and for each season folder does something inside, including grabbing the name of the season folder. But it keep throwing an error on the line set folderName to name of folder aFolder saying it can't get name of folder "a", but the only folders inside the folder I select are Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3. Additionally, looking at the replies part of the script editor it looks like it does "M" first with no errors, and they goes to "a". I have no idea where this is coming from so help me if you can. Disregard the weird formatting, copying everything from the script editor into here messed everything up. Thanks.
