Cdr file preview in Bridge CS6
Anyone knows why Bridge CS6 wont display larger previews of cdr files?
The previous version I had (CS4) handled cdr files without any problem.
Thanks
Sorry I don't have an answer either, szf611. In fact, I came here looking for an answer to this myself.
I had a vague memory that the ability to view CDRs might have come from a Bridge extension, rather than being a native capability, but I could be wrong about that. (Maybe I'm thinking of the "Bridge Here" script?) I don't know if it would have come from Adobe or Corel.
If I find any solution, obviously I'll post back. You haven't found any more info since opening the thread, have you?

Can't see CR2 files in Adobe Bridge CS6
I have recently purchased Canon 5D Mark iii and have taken a few shots in RAW mode. When I try to open the file in Adobe Bridge CS6, I can't view the file.
I also have a canon T2i and the raw file from that camera show perfectly fine.
What could be the problem? All my CS6 software is up to date.Updated to ACR 8.4? There is an issue:
The fix is to download a 8.4 again via the link below and follow the instructions to replace the existing 8.4 plugin:

I have NEF files that won't preview in Bridge CS6
I shot two D3s last night and downloaded both cards. One the NEF files preview like normal and the other has NEF files that won't preview but open in Photoshop just fine. Anyone know why they won't preview?
You could try purging the Bridge Cache it may be messed up. Edit>Preference>Cache>Purge Cache

File Associations in Bridge CS6
I upgraded CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design & Web Premium. Most of my preferences (layout, etc) were imported correctly from CS5. When I right-click (PC, Windows 7) on the Bridge CS6 thumbnail, and click on 'Open with ...', there was a collection of Microsoft programs (COM Surrogate 6.1, Microsoft PowerPoint 12.0, Publisher 12.0, Windows Live Photo Gallery 15.4), and no Photoshop (Default). When I used the WIndows fille-associations program, and Photoshop CS6 was associated with *.psd files, then it appeared in the 'Open with ...' menu as Photoshop (Default). However, the other Microsoft programs are still present. How do I get rid of these and add the relevant Adobe programs (Ai, Id, Dw, etc), please?
With Windows 7 unfortunately you're not really given the tools to completely manage what shows up in the context menu. It seems to be part of Microsoft's strategy of oversimplifying things, even when there's loss of functionality, so that laypeople don't find Windows daunting. I always figured better education and help facilities ought to do the trick, but they continually take the power to control one's own computer away. You don't want to know what's coming in Windows 8.

Opening CDR file - Extremely Fatal to CS6 64-bit apps
I'm trying to get down the bottom of what's causing an extremely serious error in the 64-bit version of Adobe Illustrator CS6.
Adobe Illustrator can open CorelDRAW .CDR files, to a certain extent. The .CDR files need to be saved down to version 9 or 10 compatibility. One of my coworkers just ran into a really bad Illustrator CS6 crash caused when opening a .CDR file. This is a crash I had to endure on my own new system a couple months ago.
After Illustrator CS6 64-bit crashes it simply refuses to launch again. It crashes and closes. Rebooting doesn't help. Deleting the AI prefs file doesn't help. Worse yet, the crash basically hoses all of the CS6 64-bit apps that are installed. The 64-bit version of Photoshop CS6 crashes when opening a file.
The last time this happened my only recourse was to do a "factory reset" on my computer, basically wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Windows 8 Professional in a clean state and then going through the very long, slow process of downloading and installing the CS6 apps from the Creative Cloud.
Does anyone in this forum have any experience with this particular kind of crash? Are there any possible alternatives that might fix this error besides wiping the hard drive and starting over? This bug is pretty badly timed. Gonna have to go through all the download/install process stuff again when the new CC apps are released. The bug is unpredictable. Once the bug has occurred Adobe Illustrator CS6 64-bit will no longer launch. Rebooting and deleting the aiprefs file doesn't work. Additionally the bug also permanently affects other CS6 64-bit applications. Photoshop CS6 64-bit will launch, but it crashes when opening any file. After Effects and Premiere Pro crash at launch. No third party plug-ins were installed on this computer.
Affected computer's hardware:
Dell XPS 8500 Desktop
• Core i7 3770 Quad Core 3.4GHz
• 16GB RAM - Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 4 DIMMs
• nVidia GeForce GT640 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
• 2TB 7200rpm SATA 6 Gb/s Hard Disc
• DVD-R/W Drive
• 19 in 1 media card reader
• Windows 8 Professional 64-bit
When this bug affected my own workstation a couple months ago, I tried to uninstall Adobe Illustrator CS6, download it again and then reinstall. Illustrator CS6 64-bit still refused to launch. The other 64-bit apps wouldn't launch either. So I ended up wiping the hard disc, reinstalling Win 8 Pro clean and downloading/reinstalling everything and just being careful to not open any .CDR files after that. My workstation is a little better equipped (Core i7 3770, 24GB of RAM, BD-RW drive, nVidia GeForce 660GTX, Intel SRT solid state drive with SATA 6gb/s 2TB HDD).
Previously I did run into problems when opening CorelDRAW .CDR artwork that was larger than a standard letter sized page. I would get hit with a dialog box saying "the file appears to be corrupt." I'd end up making CorelDRAW save the artwork into Adobe Illustrator CS5 format and then opening it Illustrator. Once my Adobe apps got hosed by a certain .CDR file I simply stopped trying to open any CorelDRAW files directly in Illustrator at all. Didn't want to go through the long process of reinstalling everything from scratch again. Unfortunately my coworker didn't remember the details of my experience. So now we're dealing with it on her new machine.
My coworker said she thinks she remembers which .CDR file caused Illustrator CS6 64-bit to crash. Here's a Dropbox link to it:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86940762/V130520-1%20CC%20expo%20center%20billingsley% 20ford%20FS.cdr
Warning: I do not recommend other users to try opening this CorelDRAW file within Adobe Illustrator CS6. I'm sure not trying it on my installation!
This particular .CDR file doesn't have any active type in it. But it does feature some strange clipped gradient effects. I think some of this artwork was originally created in Illustrator and then saved in CorelDRAW. I'm wondering if there is some sort of way Corel tried to reinterpret the artwork that caused Illustrator to lose its mind when reopening it. If memory serves correctly I was opening some similar Illustrator-generated and then Corel-saved art in my own copy of AI CS6 64-bit when it crashed. -
EMF files have no preview in Bridge CS6
Actually, haven't had EMF (WMF) previews since CS2 or something. Surprised that such a robust viewer can't manage a preview of such a common file. Is there any kind of fix? Win7.

Sorry I can't help, but…
Common file? I've been using computers in the course of my work since the 1960s, and I had to do a Google search to figure out what an "EMF file" is. Just saying…
Remember that Bridge began as nothing more than Photoshop's Image File Browser. It has been somewhat adapted (or is it just "adopted"?) for the totally artificial "suite" concept.
Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types. The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one. -
RX100 ARW files not visible in preview in Bridge CS6
When looking at Canon RAW files (.CR2) I can see the previews fine in Preview. Not the same for RX100 arw files. I can see the thumbnails , However preview window shows an icon with "exec" in it. Also, adjustments made in Camera Raw do not show in the thumbnails as with other my Canon 5D II raw files. Help???
Message was edited by: SparrosThanks for the response.
I updated to the latest version and was able to view the thumbnails in Bridge - someting I was not able to do until the update - the preview window still shows the green and grey "exec" icon or a white icon with arw under it. I was hoping there is a simple fix in preferences or something like that.....I am stuck!
Does anyone else have the same issue? -
Help with InDesign spread previews in Bridge CS6
Our company is updating to CS6 and needs to be able to view InDesign files as spreads as we did in CS3. We produce many catalogs a year and each spread is a separate file. We use Bridge (CS3) to view the entire catalog at once. Now, with CS6, we can only see one page of the document, even though the preference is set to 2 pages in InDesign. We need an update. Please help!
I don't believe so. It's how Bridge displays InDesign files. In CS6, it's showing a single page and not the full spread that it used to. There is a preferance in Indesign that you can set the size and number of pages to preview. It's set to 2, which is the default.
This is a critical feature that needs to be restored. The link for the feature Request is not working, nor is the reporting a bug link.
After reading someone's comment, it appears that InDesign does not write the appropriate meta data for bridge to preview the spread, so perhaps it is an InDesign issue. Nevertheless, it has not been fixed since 2011!
How can I get through to Adobe??? -
Question about file previewing in Bridge CS3
Does anyone know if it's possible to preview a Corel Painter file in Bridge? I'm running CS3 Bridge on a Windows XP machine. Currently, each Painter file is represented by the program's default icon. I'd love to actually see a real preview of each file!
Thanks!crowedesigns wrote:
The files I'm referring to end in the extension .RIF
If it's not possible with the standard Bridge program, does anyone know of an addon that would allow this to work?
When in Correl Paint use "save as" to save as jpeg or some other format supported in PhotoShop. That is easier than trying to convert it outside of the program.
You can keep the original .rif file in case you want to go back and work on it. -
Not able to move files to new folders in Bridge CS6
Hello all. I am trying to move files around through bridge CS6 but I keep getting :
" The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient permissions". How do I fix this annoyance? This is really screwing with my work flow and forcing me not to bother using Bridge.
Thanks in advance. This is really an OS problem as it sets permission levels for operations. What OS?
If using Win OS and an external drive, you can start Bridge by right clicking and choosing "run as administrator". -
Adobe Bridge CS6 Crashes.
I am having a problem with Adobe Bridge in CS6. After running it for a while it mysteriously crashes. Here is a dump of the error report. I never had this in CS5. I am running Windows 7 64bit. This can occur whether or not I am running any other applications at the same time.
How can I fix this? Can I remove and re-install just Bridge?

Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6 - default to 64-bit version
I have Adobe Bridge CS6 32-bit and 64-bit installed. I prefer to use the 64-bit version, but whenever I right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and choose 'Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6', the 32-bit version always opens. How can I make this default to the 64-bit version? There doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall the 32-bit version.
Edit your System Registry on:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Bridge
Change the path that is pointing at 32bit version and set it to point at the location of 64bit version:

Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5
Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe. Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below. I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files. To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEThanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue. Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application? That really wouldn't make sense now would it? That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files. The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer. I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail. I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work. I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works. -
Bridge CS6 keeps on crashing on opening. It says "Building criteria" then shows me the rainbow disk, forever and ever until I have to force quit.
I have deleted the cache folder in the User/library/adobe/Bridge/Caches and also the files ending in .plist in Preferences. I have opened it again while holding the option key, and reset all of the settings, several times, but nothing changes. I have lost my original dmg file and so I cant reinstall. I'm on Maverick and it has worked fine for 10 months before this started happening. I don't use it for anything other than looking through my files/photos and loading several into one document in photoshop.
What else can I do? THanks! My OS is in finnish, but I think this is what I'm looking for:

Maybe this problem has something to do with SSD and temp not on default location. -
Bridge CS6 crashes when I apply metadata
Similar problem to this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5025995
The problem started suddenly last week. If I try to apply metadata or keywords to an image, Bridge closes. Sometimes I can apply one or two keywords before this happens, but not many and it always closes after applying more than a few keywords. Before this started, I had no problems with Bridge CS6.
Have tried updating graphics card drivers, resetting preferences, rebooting, changing the locatioon of the photos, with no luck.
