CDRW MS-8348A freezes during burning

I bought a CR48-A(MS-8348A) CDRW drive two months ago, and it was burning just fine for a month on my winxp box.
Now all of a sudden, i am lucky if it will even burn at 12x.
there are two things that can happen:
1:  Using nero 5, the memory reserve fills to 100, the write buffer then fills to 8%, and all of a sudden the drive spins up faster, then slower, like its having trouble reading the CDs.  It basically does that forever until i reboot the PC since nero freezes and the writer wont stop
2:  it starts to write, gets to maybe 30% approx, then spins up and down as if it is having trouble reading.  about 2 min later nero reports "No seek done" and stops writing.
so i have done this:
- tried different CD media (3 brands)
- updated firmware to 150d.
- Used CD ROM dry cleaning cd
- useda little air duster to try and blast any dust off the lens.
- isolated the CDROM on its own IDE channel (its master on secondary)
I am basically out of ideas, and my first experience with MSI products has seriously made me rethink about getting their kt4 motherboard and ti4200 vid card.
Can anyone help or suggest anything that might be the problem, or do i just need to RMA?

I have the similar problem. Previously, I use the msi 8340 CD-RW. After two
months, it become defective and can't read any disc. Then, it was returned for a
replacement. The dealer gave me a new MSI 8348 CD-RW insteaded. However,
this CD-RW is much worser than the one before. The speed of the specification of
this product is 48x16x48x. However, I can't get any writing speed faster than 16x
successfully. It is a new product but it can't compatitable to the high speed CD-RW.
I've e-mail to the support but do not get any replies. Their support is very bad.
The discs are place to different CD-RW to try again, they all works fine. I try to
call the retailer, but they do not give me any supprot just said that burnning with
high speed will casue error just recommand me to use low speed to burn any discs.
Perhaps, they already known there exists some problems of this CD-RW.
Does anyone fix this problem?

  • IDVD freezing during burn process

I was trying to burn my DVD project onto a disc and iDVD kept freezing during the middle of it. It just so happened to always freeze during step 2 of the process, but Im not sure if that is just a coincidence or not. Any suggestions at how to get the program to burn my project without freezing up in the middle ?
    Thanks
    I am using iDVD 4

Thanks dispatx.com, that page was of immense help. I found much of it very encouraging simply knowing that someone has gone through the exact same thing, missing deadlines, sleep, etc.
I gathered as much info as I could and have successfully burned a DVD image now using the "Easter Egg" hurz & pfurz. Why doesn't apple include that in the program?
I cleaned up my powerbook prior to burning with OnyX. I trashed the iDVD preferences. I created a new project in iDVD using the same footage I had exported from FCP as QT movies, not self contained. I included songs I downloaded from the iTunes store (debunking the myth that the protected songs foul up the burning process). I held down ctrl and clicked burn, named the image, and then it went to work.
    Timeline:
6:00am started step 1, 10 secondes later, step 2 begins.
9:00 Step 3, Asset Encoding begins (Hallelujah, I never could get to this step)
    9:50 Step 4 begins, mulitplexing
10:20 Image is ready and iDVD is asking me to name the image again, I finally figured out this gives me the option of burning several copies, I did and it only took another 15 minutes to create another image instead of starting the whole process over again.
10:40 I drop it into disk utility and burn a 3.7 GB DVD in 20 minutes.
Oliver Luker accurately observes and records CPU usage at each of the steps so that helped me know NOT to cancel even when Activity monitor showed iDVD as not responding.
I went with best performance because too many people were reporting over 60 minutes and best quality as not working well, and I need this DVD done. I had an extras section in the DVD that I yanked. But I don't understand why we are limited to less than 60 minutes. This angers me a bit and I'm determined to find a way to have a good looking DVD with over 60 minutes of footage that will burn through iDVD. I don't want to buy DVDSP, yet.
    Good luck everyone.

  • IDVD unexpectedly quits and/or video freezes during burn

Please help! I'm going crazy trying to get a completed video project burned onto DVD. I have three video programs (one is a slide show), all created in Final Cut Pro and saved as either Final Cut Quicktimes or Quicktime movies using H264 compressor. The programs are imported into iDVD 4.0.1 (they cumulatively amount to less than one hour). Two different things are happening. Sometimes, iDVD churns for 16 hours, spits out the DVD, and says it unexpectedly quit. The DVD plays, but the slide show program freezes about 3/4 into (audio continues but video freezes). Other times, iDVD churns for hours and hours, only to quit and spit out a blank DVD.
This has never happened in the past. I've never before had trouble burning DVDs. The only change I recently made was this: I changed the name and password of the administrative account user. Also, this computer was iSync'd with another mac and about a week ago, all my preferences disappeared and programs opened as if for the first time (although nothing on the hard drive was lost).
Here's what I've tried: MacSweeper (although it has authenticaltion problems - I authenticate and then everytime I try to run it, it says it's not authenticated, so I can't tell if it's working), MacJanitor, I've checked all the preference settings and nothing comes up in error. I've also tried the Easter Egg approach and I got the same result (freeze 3/4 through).
    Here's what I have: iMac G4, 800 MHz CPU, 1 GB memory, OS X (10.4.2), iDVD 4.0.1.
The slide show program is the only one messing up on the burned discs. Do you think it has anything to do with the new H264 compressor (in the past I've never used that, and the other two programs - which are fine on the DVD - are Final Cut Quicktimes).
Help me please - before I do something violent to this computer!!! Thanks for any advice.
    Shannon

Thanks for your suggestions, David. My remaining issues are these, and anyone with ideas is welcome to chime in here:
First, I've never encountered this problem in the past, even with the same amount of available disc space. It seems like the Tiger upgrade is what's causing the problem, but so far it's been impossible to isolate. Has anyone heard anything about this or found a permanent solution?
On that same note, I understand what you're saying about an external drive. I don't have one, and it seems superfluous that I should need to spend money on one when this process worked fine a year ago. But I guess I'll try it if nothing else works better.
Second, fortunately, I wised up to the Disk Copy solution to make back-up copies of my ONE usable DVD. But I'm extremely concerned that I will encounter this same problem the next time I need to burn from iDVD. I have no idea why this one disc worked and all my other attempts failed. There must be something identifiable going on in all these similar cases, and it doesn't make sense to me that the permanent solution lies in somehow working AROUND iDVD instead of through it. And I guess I won't spend the money to upgrade to iLife '05 if the possibility exists that this problem will persist.
So there are my lingering concerns and frustrations. For now, I'm walking away from this project with exactly ONE useful DVD produced from iDVD out of approximately 20 attempts. Something's wrong with this picture. Ugh!

  • Idvd keeps freezing during burn of slideshow

    Any suggestions?

    Hi
Can be a zillion things. Please tell what You've done - It's so very hard to guess.
    • Can it be so that there are more than 99 photos per SlideShow - iDVD limit
    • Free space on Start-Up hard disk. Less than 25Gb free space ?
    • photos used of a strange format as .bmp etc.
    • audio used in a strange format as .mp3, .wma etc
    • Does it freez - in iDVD test mode - or while burning DVD - or when DVD is played
    • DVD brand used
    • DVD type used
    • Burn speed - set down to ?
And many many more things need to be asked if You don't share a step by step description on what You've done to help us understand where it went wrong.

  • IDVD 4 now freezes the entire computer during burning

    Hello,
iDVD 4 now freezes my entire computer during burning somewhere around stage 3. I can't even force quit. This never happened before - it does so while burning a project that had been burned successfully many times in the past and also new projects. I did have a bad RAM problem weeks ago - which is fixed now. Tried fixing permissions and cleared out enough free space. This is wierd - it has been working for years.
    Thanks very much,
    NIck M.

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named:
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort: from Craig: Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.

  • IDVD freezes during buring

More that 50% of the time my iDVD freezes during the burning process ruining a blank DVD. Then in freezes out my computer. I have taken it to the Apple store and they run some diagnostics on it get it to work in the store and when I come home the problem starts up again.
    Help Please!

Could be that your burner is overheating or you don't have enough free disk space to burn a disk. You need at least 5GB to burn. If the burner is overheating, you might try resting the computer for 3-4 hours before attempting a burn. Or maybe running a DVD drive cleaner through it. Might be a simple maintenance issue with the burner or hard drive.
I suppose that you have tried the oft recommended closing down of iDVD and trashing the com.apple.iDVD file located in user/library/preferences, and repairng disk permissions through the disk utility app.
What media are you using? Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R are recommended.
Try burning from a disk image using the disk utility app, at a speed of 4x or lower.
I have no other suggestions beyond recreating the project and/or burning with different media at a slower speed.

  • Elements 10 project slideshow freezes during output

Elements 10 project slideshow freezes during output.  When writing to CD it freezes about 70%.  When output to hard drive is selected, it freezes around 39%.  This is a show I have been working on for a few days.  It has been working but can no longer use the output feature.
    O/S:  Windows 7
I downloaded the trial of Premiere and the show outputs without any problems.  I don't really want to buy another program.  Can anyone think of a solution?

a lot of that didn’t apply and I’m not tech savvy enough to figure the rest out... but. I uninstalled elements and elements premier, I didn’t realize this allows you to de-activate as part of the uninstall process, in e9 I de-activated from the toolbar. I saved my projects folder from my catalog to a disk. When I re-installed everything and loaded my projects I was able to open my slide show. I also “refreshed” my Windows 8 because it was having problems as well.
I attempted to save the slide show as WMV again and again if failed, halfway through playback it froze and kept flickering. This slide show is only 4 minutes long with around 30 photos. I had used a different transition between each photo, I changed all but 2 to fade, this time it worked perfectly. I’m strictly an amateur, learning as I go, I intend to watch tutorials and learn more, but does it say anywhere that using multiple transitions in a slideshow can result in problems? I can’t believe it is my PC, I am using a 2 month old Dell XPS 8500 Special Edition, i7 3rd gen., 32Gb memory, Bluray burner, Radeon 7870 graphics with Windows 8, every driver is up to date.
    Thanks for your assistance. Darryl

  • Waveburner stuck during burn

I've been getting stuck in Waveburner whenever I try to burn a CD. I'm able to edit my fades and get the songs ready for a final burn. However, after clicking on the burn and inserting a CD, all that happens is the window opens to display the burn process, and all it does is make a tiny initial move to indicate it's started burning; the time indicator tells how long the burn will take - then nothing; I have to cancel the burn and eject the CD via iTunes.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks,
    Randall

Randall, I also posted this reply to another gentlemen's thread that addressed the same issue. Here's the copy/paste response I lifted from that thread and wanted to share with the community.
Here we go with what worked for me (finally). I may post this as a standalone "solution," too, albeit quite technical. I will add the caveat here that I just switched to the Mac in Sep 05, so some of the terms I use may not be Mac-speak.
First, here's the present config of my DAW (digital audio workstation) that I went in with to tackle the Waveburner "freezing while burning" issue populating several streams in the forum:
    - H/W, S/W: G5 Dual, 2.3GHz, 2.5GBytes RAM, OS 10.4.4, Logic Pro 7.1.1, Waveburner v1.1.2 (I reinstalled the v1.1.2 release), Pro Apps v3.1 (I reinstalled this guy, too)
    - Soundcard: Presonus Firepod, but not turned on (For no particular reason, I kept the Firepod turned off during all of the below troubleshooting events. This may/may not contribute to burn problems and I'll try to add some more info regarding this configuration in a later posting.)
    - DVD Burner: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-109 (this was the stock burner in my G5), using CD-R media from "Imation" and "Compucessory" and "Office Depot"
    - the crossover cable between the G5 and my PC was left inactive/disabled
Second, I need to mention that I "repaired permissions" on my OS hard drive after the ProApp 3.1 and Waveburner 1.1.2 updates were reinstalled. I should mention I repaired permissions on the hard drive twice in the sense that I first repaired it by selecting the official hard drive name and then selected the personalized hard drive name (e.g., "Rich's Main Drive") within the Disk Utility application. This may not matter, but I was willing to try all options.
Third, I deleted the old Waveburner preferences file that is found in the Users/Library/Preferences folder or something like that since I'm going off of memory here to allow Waveburner to re-establish a new prefs file for itself.
Fourth, I accessed only the Waveburner application and did not open any other application first. Again, this probably won't impact anything, but I took a very conservative approach.
Fifth, let's talk about my Waveburner settings that worked and definitely did not work as of today. I'll need to double check if the OS 10.4.4 update includes the DVD burner driver or firmware updates (I'm unsure if the firmware needs to be activated separate from a simple OS update. Any ideas?). So, here are the settings I used in the Waveburner preferences with comments:
    - selected "built-in audio", "channels 1-2" (still need to verify the Firepod would work, too)
    - "no dithering" was selected
    - burn tab: all items left unchecked (When I selected "CD Text," the burn definitely froze immediately following the mix bounce and I'm not sure if that is burner related or S/W related. Either way, trying to include "CD text" was not successful.)
    - "replace region with bounce" checked (when left unchecked, the burn froze after the bounce)
    - slowest burn speed selected (4x) to try and miminize burn errors (of course, I'm going to try and increase the burn speed now that I have a stable config working)
    - I initially selected "test burn" prior to actually burning. This obviously added extra time to the effort, but was worth it for troubleshooting purposes. In the end, my stable config does not include this step anymore, so I just burn outright without a test burn, now.
    - selected the "ballad" mix plug-in chain preset
So, the above settings seemed to be the bare bones settings to start with. Unfortuneately, I trashed multiple disks to get to this point. I'm anxious to see what settings I can add before I have a total freeze again.
Sixth, I need to mention that I imported four pre-dithered, pre-mastered, 16 bit, 44KHz aiff files totaling just over 20 minutes of audio (I also cross-faded them and freely adjusted the track start markers). I realize for better audio, you'd want to import 24 bit, 48KHz files or greater, but remember I'm just trying to troubleshoot right now. I also realized that essentially re-mastering the tracks by including Waveburner's "ballad" plug-in preset would potentially create a mix that was too "hot," but I merely wanted to see if plug-ins were the culprit. It turned out the plug-ins did increase the mix's temperature quite a bit, but the plug-ins did not freeze the burn process.
Lastly, I found that patience, as always, was the key in the following areas:
    - After the bounce, the burn did not start until ~45 seconds once the burn status window popped up that shows the time remaining until completion. This delay may decrease or increase based on the overall length of the CD you're trying to burn, but I haven't tested that yet.
    - Once the final track was burned and the status window displayed "closing session," the burn process took an additional ~20 to 30 seconds until the disk was automatically ejected.
Give these rather comprehensive ideas a shot and then work your way up from there.
Good luck and I'll keep checking the posts to see if additional questions arise.

  • Atv freezes during screensaver

Recently my atv has been freezing periodically after the screensaver kicks in. It shows a number of pictures and after a few minutes just hangs. I am able to hit the menu button which then takes it to a black screen where it sits for about 2 mins until the atv reboots. Anyone else having this issue?

My ATV2 also freezes during screensaver. It seems to happen with origami and floating, but I have not noticed it with Ken Burns. In the case of Origami, the pictures just froze. Then I hit menu, and the screen went black. The music kept playing. However, I could not use the menu button anymore after that. I had to unplug the ATV2 to force it to reboot. In the case of floating, the screen went black, the music kept playing, but the behavior was different. The first time this happened, I just waited a while. Then the music stopped. I suspect it must have rebooted on its own. After that I was able to use the menu button and restart the music and screensaver. The second time it happened, I immediately used the menu button and was able to navigate back to the settings menu for screensaver. I then hit preview, and was back in business. So, coupled with the problem of the screensaver repeating photos, the ATV2 has some real problems. I hope there is a new release soon.

  • Powerbook freeze - disc burning related?

Once every 8 to 16 hours or so, my Powerbook (15-inch Aluminum, 1.25 Ghz) appears to freeze during I/O, and eventually brings down my system in the process. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or solutions.
    - the Powerbook develops a lengthy delay when put to Sleep mode. The screen would go dark, but it would take about a minute or so for the white LED (at the front of the machine) to come on. During this minute, the machine is unresponsive to any input, can't be awoken, and can't be SSH'ed into. Once the light comes on, I can then get it to wake as normal.
    - Once this happens, Disk Utility hangs at "Gathering Information" when opened.
    - The System Profiler locks up if I click on the "Disc Burning" section. All other sections work fine. On the ATA section, the SuperDrive shows up as normal.
    - Toast Titanium hangs at launch time. Other programs launch, with a lengthy delay at opening and quitting time.
    - Eventually, the entire machine becomes unresponsive.
    - Rebooting the machine does fix the problem. But only for about 8 to 16 hrs. And then the cycle begins anew.
I can't create a consistent procedure to reproduce the problem, which is always annoying. Resetting the PMU did not help. Permission repair reported nothing, and Single-User Mode fsck managed to fix "minor" errors to the volume header, which may actually have been a result of a hard reset I had to do.
There is absolutely nothing suspicious in the console.log and system.log.
I replaced the DC-in/sound board a month ago, due to an issue with battery charging. But I also installed OS X 10.4.9 on March 13. The problem cropped up just a little more than a week ago.
What do you think, software or hardware? It's odd that a restart would fix a hardware issue, if it was a hardware issue... but it is somewhat linked to the Superdrive. Any additional diagnostics that I haven't thought of? Because this is my primary machine and has all of my ongoing development work on it, reinstalling an OS would be a last resort.

I investigated this a bit further, and it seems that if the machine does wake up again (if it's not in the zombie-ish, Sleep but not really Sleep state), it responds to SSH. So the kernel isn't panic'ed. Only the user interface is not responding.
If I kill the loginwindow process remotely and force the user to log out, I can then log in again. However, any access that relates to Disc Burning in some way blocks. System Profiler, for example, freezes (and can't be killed even by sudo kill -9) if I click on the Disc Burning tab, but works fine otherwise.
And eventually, the user interface will become unresponsive again (mouse pointer moves, but nothing responds) unless I remotely kill the user session.

  • Ports not working--mac freezes during hardware test

My immediate problem is my mac freezing during the hardware test. I know it can take some time for the test to be completed, but it was over an hour and it was frozen at "2 min 16 seconds," and the mouse and keyboard aren't recognized. Even during the short test.
I held the power button down and turned it off.
The bigger problem is non-functioning ports. First it was the firewire ports to my maxtor hard drive and then my lacie superdrive. And it's not the cord or the units. They work other places. That was approx. a month ago. I didn't worry too much and went back to the internal drive.
Then today my internet stopped working. The modem is not reading the computer and the computer is not reading the modem. The modem works fine with my laptop thank goodness (although it's a PC we bought for the kids to play computer games on and it's driving me crazy!). So the modem and cord are fine.
Then a couple of my USB ports were not happy today. One wouldn't read my daughter's ipod touch, but then later did (?).
And to go back to the very beginning, sometimes when I put the computer to sleep, it freezes on a black screen with a working mouse pointer, but nothing else and I have to force quit. If it goes to sleep on its own, it's fine.
Here's what I have done today: done the PRAM boot, some other command-option-O-F boot, tried the hardware test twice--it froze twice. Repaired all the permissions, reset the thing. All this I found out on the discussion groups.
I have read a lot of posts of similar problems and tried what was said there.
Am I heading for a crash? I cant back up my new stuff because the firewires are non-functional. I can't burn bunch of stuff to discs because the superdrive is going bad and won't burn properly (which is why I bought the LaCie which my computer now won't recognize.
I can't get anything off my computer except in bits and pieces with 2GB usb drive.
I know I'm rambling, but I've just spent 5 hours trying to fix this thing. Any suggestions? I'm going to take it in to the apple store to get it repaired tomorrow, but I'm worried I will lose all my data. Also I am scared of what it will cost. Is there anything else I could do tonight?
I'd love to have something else to try. Many thanks,
    Barbara

    HI Barbara,
It sounds like the hard drive is failing or has failed. Boot from your Mac install disc and if you can run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairs.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*
If you cannot boot from your install disc, try booting in Safe Mode
    What is Safe Mode

  • Imac freezes during start-up. Seems to be caused by Airport issue.

My Imac freezes during startup. I have tried starting it in safe mode without any luck. After the initial start sequence when it gets to this point: Airport linkup en1, the computer starts writing the same line endlessly: com.apple.launch [1] (com.apple.mDNSRsponder [2710]): posix_spawnp (“/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder”,...): No such file or directory
I am not a technician and new to Macs too. I have tried almost everything in the supportfile about freeze issues. I am not able to start the Mac in safe mode. I have repaired the disk. I have tried reinstalling the software, but this fails too.
Did a couple of changes on the timecapsule before it happened (creating a network and new security settings and backup settings) and installed Photoshop Elements 9 and did a lot of file restructuring. Left the computer open and came back to a blue screen. Since then I have been unable to start.
My macbook works fine with the changes. I am stuck - what to try now?
I need my files and they are luckily on the timecapsule, but i am not able to open the imac-bundle file on the macbook, why?
    Thanks for helping.

did a lot of file restructuring.
In Finder>Go>enter /usr/sbin do you see mDNSResponder listed there?
Try Repairing Permissions for the Volume in Disk Utility (Note: may take a long time in 10.5.8)

  • Zen Micro Freezes during play and sometimes won't turn on at

I have been having some issues with my micro and wondered if anyone could help. I didn't drop it or do anything I can recall to cause these issues, it just seemed to start out of the blue. 2 things are happening. Sometimes it will freeze during play and "buzz" (it's really just transmitting a countinuous sound of a millisecond of what it was playing like if the guy was saying apple, and it freezes when he starts to say it it will sound like "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" but in a completely illegible buzz way). Second, it will sometimes not turn on at all, no creative logo, no lights, no nothing. Once I take out the battery and replace it, it will always then start no problem. The battery does not seem to be loose at all as the above mentioned buzzin will not stop until I remove the battery, and as I have repeatedly removed the back of the micro during these buzz session?the battery remains firmly seated and the buzzing continues until I remove it. So far I have updated the firmware to 2.2.02 (which I believe reformatted) which didn't stop it from freezing up during play, and just now did a disk clean up (which I can't imagine will have any change?if a complete format didn't). I haven't had the start up problem since the firmware update, but I haven't turned it on and off that many times yet. Any ideas? Sorry to be so verbose but I wanted to explain as best as I could what's wrong, and what I've done so far.

Remove SIM and miniSD card first. Try to boot.
The try hooking it up to the PC again. And see if you might be able to redo the update process.
You can also try a hard reset. As described in a different tread. (Or read below).
Othervise, I afraid you will have to take it to a Service Center.

    Just reset to factory default.
You will need your 2 hands to do that: While the phone is off press and hold the [Green call Button] + [3 digit button] + [* button] and power on and hold the powwer button. Do that until the phone asks you for the local city reference.

  • IPod 5G Freezes during Video Playback

iPod freezes during video playback. Does anybody else have this problem?
Usually freezes up about 10 minutes into a video, and then complety locks up. This usually requires 2 to 3 restarts untill it comes back working properly.

Mine does the same. It really only happens to me when I try to navigate thru menus when video is playing. I usually have to do a forced Reset. I truly think that introducing video on the iPod was not ready for primetime as it is very sluggish, buggy and sensitive during playbabck of video. No problems with music whatsoever but I am frustrated with the very finicky video qualities of this thing.

  • IPod won't sync correctly. iTunes freeze during "Determing Tracks to Sync". Playcounts are a mess now. Please help!'

So since a few months my iPod is starting to get on my nerves. Everytime I try to sync it, my iTunes freezes during the "Determing Tracks to Sync" step. Most of the time it takes a few minutes and then it cancels the sync. I have to sync my ipod atleast 10 times a day to get a song or app on my iPod! One of the most anoyying things tough is, that all playcounts from my iPod sync to my iTunes every time I try to sync. Example: I play Poker Face on my iPod 5 times. I try to sync and my play count says 5 times on my PC. I sync my iPod again and it says 10 times now. It's so anoyying. I restored my iPod already. I removed iTunes and installed it again (And yeah, I deleted it the way Apple wants it). I called Apple and they said I can repair my iPod for 150€, but that's just so much. Any ideas on how to fix my iPod?
    Thank you

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions.
Because you reformatted your computer, your iPod does not recognize the new library because it was synced with the older library you had before reformatting. In order to get the iPod working again, you will have to [Restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339] the iPod via iTunes. Once you have completed that step, try re-syncing the music and see if that helps.
