CDs distributed on Developer's Day

Hello,
I attended last developer day at Oracle Conference Center. There I got free CDs distributed (Jdeveloper 10g,
and database 10g). Unfortunately I lost those CDs. I am curious whether I can get another set of CDs. I am
ready to pay shipping cost.
I need the following CDs for my development :
(1) Most recent Jdeveloper 10g CD
(2) Most recent Oracle databse 10g CD
(3) Most recent application server 10g CD (not just oc4j) -- I have some forms 10g apps to run in 3-tier. So I need
full app server 10g CD -- not just oc4j.
My address :
Dr. Shyam Sundar Sarkar
273 Laurie Meadows Drive, #142
San Mateo, CA 94403
Phone : 650-372-9152
e-mail: [email protected]
If possible, I can even go to Oracle and pick up CDs if I get the person to meet.
Regards,
Shyam Sarkar

I'm not sure we have any leftovers. (I'll check).
But you can get all the software from OTN.
It is the same software that is on the CDs.

  • Central or distributed portal development team?

In my company's current environment, all portal development work is done by one team that focuses only on Portal.
I have been asked to find a way for other development teams to do development in the Portal.
I am a bit uncomfortable with this for many reasons and wanted to get some feedback on how others handle  it.
Do you have one portal development team?
Do you have developers distributed among othe teams with one team doing only administration?
    Any other models?
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Paul ,
It is good to have administration team and developers team.
You can restrict developers to only development activities . By doing so only adminstrators will have full control on portal related . You can make them responsible for portal related.
But communication / cooperation between development teams and administrators should be fast .

  • Distributed Game Development - What are appropriate & latest technologies?

I have a situation. Its more like a design and use of appropriate technology sort of question.
I am developing a board game say, chess - but it will be played by upto 4 users or only one user (AI).
    Client sides are applets;
Game logic running on Glassfish Server.
Applet to Backend communiction -> web services
...but question is How Backend notify all other players' boards to update clients(applets) on their side with new move?
Thanks for your favor in anticipation.

  • LabVIEW Developer Education Day

I was wondering if any experienced users have attended one of these and found them worthwhile.  I will be taking the CLD in the near future, and it looks like this might be something to help with that.  A bit of a drive for me to the nearest one, so just wondering if I should do it.

I attended one two weeks ago.  I found it very worthwhile, especially as it was oriented toward certification preparation.  In addition to all the local NI field personnel two people from Austin were present.  The presentations were fairly consistently at a high level. It definitely did not have the feel of a sales pitch - which sometimes happens at other events.
NI bought lunch, and some nice discounts for future training or certification were available.

To reiterate, definitely worth it for the coupons and the stuff they discuss is also worthwhile. The ones we have in Dallas usually have a couple presentations going on at once for different skill levels. So, you can find the ones that suit you best.

  • How long does it take to be an "official iPhone Developer?"

I decided that I wanted to be a iPhone developer a couple of days after the March announcement. So I filled out the contact information, and of course got the reply that the beta program was full.
Fast forward to July 14th, when I got a email from the iPhone Dev folks that my application was being reviewed. It is now July 26th, and I still haven't got an answer back. Does it really take this long to even become a developer??? Can someone get turned down? If so, why? Do you have to tell Apple what you plan to develop?
I have never had to go through such hoops to become a developer for any other platform. You just pay your money and bang there your are, if you even need that. I'm not an official OS X developer because, I really don't need pre-released software.
Also, since all I want to do is just run my own apps on my own iPhone/touch, do you really have to get the official stamp of approval for Apple to get a 'signature"? Do you have to go through Apple to even distribute your apps, even if you may or may not sell them?
Finally, is there anyway to get a file to your iPhone application to read outside of adding it to your application's resources, or create a socket and read it in?
    Thanks,
    edji

I signed up to be an iPhone developer two days ago and today I have my app running on my iPhone. It takes less than a day to get signed up. BUT, you need to watch out for one thing. When I originally placed my order for the $99 SDK I seemed to have checked some tax related checkbox I shouldn't have. The order completed as expected. But 36 hours later I had no email showing the order and I wasn't accepted yet. So I logged into my account on the Apple online store and looked at my order history. Sure enough, my order had a big red flag (not literally) stating I needed to fax in some tax exemption form. What? So I called the 800 number on the bottom of the screen. Since I'm an individual this shouldn't have been required. The guy on the phone sent me over to the small business dept who took care of the issue and the next day I had all my emails showing I was in the program.
So if you sign up these days and it takes more than a day, check your order status.
    Enjoy,

  • CDs no longer recognized in iTunes

    Hey there...
My iTunes no longer shows or recognizes that I have a CD in my disc drives. It was working fine up until a day or two ago. I can load a CD, see it in "My Computer" and even Windows Media Player, but iTunes fails to recognize it.
I've followed the suggestions here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93444 to no avail. This does not solve the problem for me. Also, I shouldn't have to apply a firmware update as iTunes was playing and importing from CDs just fine a few days ago.
    Any ideas?

  • Burning Photo CDs

Simple problem - when attempting to burn iPhoto images to a CD for outside use, using Finder, when I load a blank CD I get an error message "This disc cannot be used because it is not recognized". This is a new problem for me. Am using Sony 1x-40x CD-R. According to Apple they should work. But consistently get the same message. Am burning on a CD/DVD superdrive. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Al R.

No, speed is not normally a factor. It's a bit for bit copy so there's no difference. But burning at very fast speeds, on some CDs it up to 24 or more, the time for the laser of any spot to burn in that bit is less and the burn may not be as definitive. Speed is very prevalent when burning iDVD projects to disk. The slower the better. That's because the program is trying to stuff in much more data on the same surface area, using smaller distances between spots, etc. For burning a CD of photos from iPhoto I wouldn't be very concerned.
DVDs can store up to about 4.4G of data whereas CDs 800MB. A big difference. Speed for data DVDs is not as critical as it is for burning a Video DVD. I
If you're transferring photos from one computer to another and can get them on a CD or two that's the way I'd go. You can burn a CD much faster than a DVD and the CDs are really cheap these days. Now have I confused you enough? Good luck.

  • Aspects Developer "Verifier jar file not found error"

    Hello all.
I'm working in a Java Card project and I have some troubles.
When I tried to compile, verify and load my solution in Aspects Developer's Software, I achieved the following error message: " could not found Verifier jar file".
So I couldn't test my applet nor simulate it.
Then I compiled myself (with Java Card's commands) and execute the verifier file provided with Java Card, and all was good, so i decided to test my java card applet on the simulator or the real card, both with Aspects Developer SW.
Then the error I got was "Read past end of stream".
What am I doing in the wrong way? What can I do test my applet in a Simulator?
Thank very much for your help.
    Regards.
    Mike L.

    Hi,
This error message indicates that an incompatible version of the Java JDK is being used with Developer.
The release notes distributed with Developer are a little misleading. Currently Developer supports Java JDK versions greater than 1.2.2 but not 1.4.x. For example, I have JDK 1.3.1_06 installed on my machine.
Developer currently supports JavaCard development kit 2.1.2 and this specification restricts the versions of JDK that can be used. For more detail look at JCDevKit_User_Guide.pdf which can be found under <JAVA_CARD_INSTALL_DIR>\java_card_kit-2_1_2\doc\en\guides

  • NI Developer Suite 2011 DS2 installation problem

I got 4 cds of NI Developer Suite 2011, version DS2; But when I installed it, it paused after  DVD1.
First, I checked many options, such as RT module, FPGA moudle, after DVD1, a message popped up said DVD2 should put in.
I followed the message, put DVD2 in, then the installation procedure puased for 1 hr.
Later, I tried to reinstall the developer suite 2011,  I only checked labivew core and meaurement studio 2010, and communicaiton option: labwindows CVI modulation , labwindows CVI spectruam module. This time, after DVD1, it showed DVD3 was needed. When I put DVD3 in, the installation paused too.
I don't know why it is so difficult to install NI developer suite 2011, I need help.

I have found the full developer suite does take a very long time to install (several hours) with the disk swaps, I can only advise patience. If something is going wrong it will generally tell you in no uncertain terms

  • ITunes match restarts configuration every few days

I have an iPhone, MacBook Air and iMac. I have iTunes Match and every time I try to access it from iTunes on the MacBook or iMac, it goes through the entire initial configuration process again. I have done this at least 15 times in the past 6 months and never got around to finding a solution unti today. I am fed up! I hope someone can provide some guidance since I have been unable to find people suffering from the same ailments online.

When you add new music to your collection, iTunes Match will go through the same sequence of steps to add the new music as it did the first time. But it's not doing the entire process again, it's just working on the the new music. You can tell which songs it's working on by looking at one of the icloud columns in your music library, the "dotted cloud" icon or the word "waiting" (depending on which column you look at) are the ones it's working on. If you see those for your entire music collection, then you do have a problem, but otherwise it's just working normally.
You won't see the itunes match icon and "wizard" show up each time you add music though - sometimes it does the updates completely silently, in the background. I think you only see those match screens when there's been a temporary connection problem and iTunes is working on more than a dozen or so tracks that have been queued up. Recently there's been a several day outage for iTunes Match, so I keep seeing again and agani (I ripped about 5 CDs in the last few days) and it will keep showing up until iTunes is able to successfully add those 5 CDs.
Just ignore it, unless you really are seeing your entire library being worked on again.

  • Distributed processing for Photoshop?

Is there a way to link together several computers to process large documents more quickly?  I have seen programs like Qmaster and Compressor for Final Cut users–is there anything like that for processing in Photoshop?

And what specifically would you need or hope to achieve? In order to process data on multiple cores/ computers you would have to slice it up fist which in itself introduces considerable overhead and then you would also need ways of verifying integrity, deal with seam blending of separately processed "tiles" and a million other things. Batch processing multiple documents across a distributed network - perhaps one day. Processing single large documents distributed? Extemely unlikely as it woul require to rewrite PS and its algorithms from the ground up.

  • Distribute adhoc apps Over The Air

    Hi guys!!!
Have anyone managed to distribute your development app to another iphone Over The Air?
I have been giving out adhoc apps to clients by including their UDIDs into a distributable license and recompile my flash iphone project again and again...
You can imagine how troublesome it is, as long as one more customer want to view it, i need to get their UDID, and then i have to edit the license and include that UDID and then recompile the flash project AGain......
I heard that some people actually are distributing adhoc apps Over The Air, i.e. you just send a link to someone, and he/she click on that link and then he/she will download the app and start trying it immediately. No license installed or no UDID needed at all...
    How's tat being done?
Is tat possible for flash cs5 compiled projects?
    Many thankssss

    OMG.
That flash project doesnt have to be compiled again?
I definitely have to try this out as i have been stupidly doing tat all the time...
Meanwhile... if anyone have tried over the air method please give some clues... cheers..

  • DPS development app

We are using DPS apps for our company's capabilites (as apposed to the traditional powerpoint).
We send perspective clients an iPad with our capabilities app on it and we are getting quite a response.
Does anyone know if it is possible to share a development app to other team members and/or iPads?

    Yes it is possible.
If you have an DPS Enterprise account and iOS developer Enterprise license, you may create an Enterprise Signed Build and distribute the app within your organisation.
If you have a Pro or Single Edition, you would need to add and include UDID's (Upto 100) of your team members iPad's in your mobile provisioning file and then you may distribute the developer.ipa to them.

  • What the Macbook Pro should have

Hi guys, 2 weeks ago I purchased my first Apple laptop - the Macbook Pro 13", before that (and still sometimes) I used PC. Even though the design is great, there are things that could be done to make it perfect. Here is my list, please tell me what you think about it.
1 - A delete button one the keyboard, I noticed that the Macbook Pro doesn't have one before purchasing it, but after using if for 2 weeks noticed how important it is.
2 - The 2 USB ports are quite inconvenient because they are next to each other, it would be more convenient if they are from both sides instead, like Macbook Air. I have devises that are a bit wider than the other ones, so when one of these is plugged in, the other USB port is unusable. Speaking of which USB 2.0 isn't good! The ThunderBolt port is great but there are no devises yet that can take any advantage of it, so in the meantime USB 3.0 would be great.
3 - HDMI port - most of the laptops already have it, I don't see why none of the Macbooks has it. If I want to connect my Macbook Pro to my TV, I have to spend extra money on MiniDisplay to HDMI adaptor (it's not like Apple products are any cheep, so spending extra money on things that should have been there on first place is NOT good).
4 - Numerical Keyboard - I know there is no room for it, but a button like Caps Lock could be used, when it's pressed certain buttons from the keyboard could act only as numerical keyboard and when pressed again, the keyboard could be back to normal.
5 - The screen resolution of the 13" Macbook Pro should have been like the 13" Macbook Air.
6 - The CD Drive is unnecessary, nobody uses it nowadays. Nobody listens to music from a CD and nobody installs any software from a CD, everyone uses the Internet for these things, the little part of people who are still using CDs, DVDs, etc. have other devises such as: DVD or Blue-ray players, HiFi systems and Desktops. The room that is taken by the Optical Disk could be used for a bigger battery.
7 - Better cooling system - when watching a move the laptop gets so hot that I literally can't put it on my lap (lol what a paradox, a laptop that cannot be put on a lap), also I would love to be able to close the lid and leave the laptop works (it is great when downloading big files or scanning software is used), but with that cooling system I'm afraid that it would overheat.
8 - Last but not least - The screen bezel. It's too big, Macbooks should be bezelless, it would make them much better looking.

DS had some great points, I'll chime in as well.
1.) I agree, it'd be handy to have. It definitely took some getting use to but once you do and modify your keyboard workflow it becomes second nature.
2.) I ended up investing a USB extension cable, Apple makes them I believe. At least they use to, I've had mine for years. While the cable dangling off the side of the machine is a bit of an annoyance, it's a necessity if I want to double up my AirCard (USB) with a thumb drive. USB 2.0 is still the "standard" and as such it's going to be the de facto peripheral port. Apple is historically slow about adopting non-standard peripheral interfaces unless they pioneer or champion it. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple still doesn't offer USB 3.0 this time next year. Thunderbolt/Light Peak is brand new tech, and as such it's going to take a while to have peripherals that support it. There are NAS devices that have it, they were just announced this week.
    Here's a link regarding its deployment - http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/13/intel-distributing-thunderbolt-developer-kits-thi s-quarter-more/
3.) I agree that HDMI would be nice but with Thunderbolt supporting HDMI, I really don't see Apple adding another video out port. There's no room left on the I/O strip on the 13" MBP for it. Apple use to include adapters (when the MBP first came out) but they've since stopped doing that and gouge with adapters. Thankfully there are numerous 3rd party offerings at a fraction of the price.
4.) I agree, I forget which "redesign" of the keyboard layout got rid of the Num Lock key. I know my 15" MBP (Santa Rosa) has it. I currently use my iPhone as my numerical keyboard, there's a great little app that pairs the phone to your computer via Bluetooth. It works great as an alternative.
5.) Marketing 101. By introducing it via a future revision this encourages current owners to want to upgrade/switch and thus move more units and tout it as a "feature upgrade." I was pretty shocked the i5/i7 update to the MBP 13" did not introduce the 1440 resolution.
6.) This is where you'll get disagreement. Rule #1 of proper Internet forum posting, don't use words like: everyone, everyone, most, all, nobody, no one, etc. Especially without evidence to back it up. While you don't use it, people do. I use mine daily, my co-workers use their drives daily. That's 11 people right there, which is 11 more than "nobody."
7.) Apple has never called their computer a "laptop." They've always referred to is as a portable computer. Matter of fact, they strongly discourage the use of their portable computers on your lap due to how the heat dissipation process works through the top case. So the problem(s) you're experiencing are to be expected, you're using the machine in a method that is not recommended by the manufacturer. They even discuss that in the "Getting Started" booklet that came with your machine.

  • Executable crash on launch - noncontinuable exception 0xC0000025

    Hello,
I have written a very simple application which uses an FTDI cable for writing to an EEPROM. I have built it into an executable and into an installer and installed it on a PC and it worked fine.
I have since distributed the installer to China and they are unable to run the software.
The english parts of the error say Noncontinuable exception (0xC0000025) EIP=0x00000000 and it also mentions the 'LabVIEW Data Folder'. This is the error message:
Is this a localisation issue or what else could be the cause? They've tried it on 3 computers and I've personally installed on one of them and nothing went wrong during the installation.

    Hi Sam,
I'm an NI Applications Engineer and I've picked up this post to see if there's anything I can do to help.
I've done a bit of research on the "Noncontinuable Exception" error and it seems to pop up when a VI doesn't compile properly. What happens if you try rebuilding the executable and installer? Are you able to take the project to another PC and try compiling it into an installer there and checking if that installer works better?
A second potential cause might be the fact that you're running it in China... You mentioned a version that works fine: does that version include Chinese caracters in it? I ask because there are known issues surrounding chinese caracters (please see the link below) and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it.
Let me know if this helps.
    All the Best
