  • Uploaded CDs Gone

It seems as though when I started using icloud, or attempted to use icloud, that all of my uploaded CDs disappeared and only my itunes-purchased albums remained?  Can anyone help me?

You can re download iTunes purchases for free if you are a U.S. resident, have iTunes 10.3 or later installed, and your iOS device is running v4.3.3 or later.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
so now 213 songs from CDs that I uploaded are gone!
If that music was not purcahsed from iTunes, that is why I posted the link previously for help for you.

  • SCARED OF LOSING ALL MY MUSIC - PLEASE ADVISE!

OK. Let's just begin with my admission that I'm really, REALLY stupid when it comes to I-Pod and I-tunes stuff. It's a miracle I ever got the thing to play.
So - I have a desktop computer, PC, Windows XP Pro. I bought an I-pod. I put all my CDs on I-tunes, then everything on I-pod. 1,600 songs. Plus, another 400 or so purchased songs from I-tunes store.
Then, I bough a laptop computer. Wanted to us it, too, so spent a few months trying to figure out how to get all the songs from the desktop to the laptop and still have them work on the I-pod.
Then - disaster. A fire. All my CDs - gone. All I've got is the I-pod and what was on the computers.
So, now I plug the I-pod into the laptop, thought it would transfer all the songs that were in I-tunes into the I-pod - it didn't. It ERASED all but a few hundred songs. Gone. What was left - half are marked in the laptop with a grey exclamation point, and I can't burn them.
Current status: 90% of my music gone from my I-Pod, 90% of my music gone from my laptop.
I still have the desktop and all the music is still there - but I'm deathly afraid of doing anything because I don't want to erase the only copies of my music that still exist.
The I-pod people say talk to the I-Tunes people. After three days waiting, I get an e-mail from I-tunes support with links to a bunch of papers that might as well have been written in sanscrit - and I have two advanced college degrees.
So - if there's somebody out there who can explain this to me in terms that an 8 year old would understand, and help me figure out why this is all happening so I won't do it again, and how to save my music, I would be very grateful.
What I really need is a tech support person to take me through this, step by step - but apparently, it's not available as far as I can see.
You can contact me at [email protected]
    Thanks.

From what you've described your it sounds like your iPod is set for automatic update. If your Desktop PC is still intact and working and has all your original iTunes music on it then simply connect your iPod and it will update with everything that is there.
    For Info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.
If you intend using your iPod on your two computers you need to set it for manual update, this will explain things: "Using iPod with multiple computers" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61675
There is also a video tutorial on manually managing your iPod here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt3.html

  • Help lost my music!!

I am fairly new to itunes and never wanted to use it because it is very constraining and restrictive (i think)let me tell you how: I had a bunch of albums that I bought through itunes and a bunch of music that i copied out of my cds
well last week I had a virus that made me have to reload windows xp, with that of course the old registry went away and had to reinstall all my software again, well today I installed itunes again and all my music is gone the music I purchased and the music I copied of cds I don't have an Ipod I have a different mp3 player the reason I started using itunes is because I bought an ipod touch to my 10 year old. is there a way I can retrieve the music I purchased? and is the music I copied of cds gone? thank you for your help

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support
If you have your CDs you can reload the music you have on them directly, however you might also want to check out these pages for future reference:

  • I plug my ipod in and it starts to charge but i open itunes and it says its synced with a diff library. my music is gone. is there anyway i can get my music back to my itunes, most of it is cds and downloads no itunes stuff cuz i had a zune. PLZ HELP!

I plug my ipod into my computer and it begins to charge, then in the bottom right corner it says installing device driver, and then says digital still camera failed. Im not sure what that means.  Then when i open my itunes all my music is gone from my library and i dont know why.  it says that my ipod is synced with a different library and gives me the option to transfer purchases, or erase and sync.  All my music and stuff is still on my ipod but i dont know how to get it back into my itunes.  Like eight of my songs are actually from itunes, the rest is from cds, and downloads, and my zune music because i had a zune, but broke it.  Is there any way to fix this? Please?!? I beg for an answer. Please Help me, I dont Know what to Do. I want to be able to put more music on and there is no way im erasing the content of my ipod. PLEASE HELP

That's what backups are for. Use Time Machine. It's free and external drives are cheap. To recover your iPhone's content requires the use of third party utilities. Success is not guaranteed. Read:

  • HT201269 My PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music does exist on iPad. How do I get the music that had been downloaded from iTunes and copied from my CDs onto new PC from iPad. Would rather not use cloud.

PC crashed. iTunes was on it and now all files are gone. All music both purchased  and copied from CDs is on iPad. How do I get the music back onto the PC without using the cloud. Afraid if sync will wipe all music from iPad.

You would need to download iTunes on comp and download purchases again (you don't have to pay again) and upload your CDs again IF you sync your iPad to your computer it will erase everything

  • Why is it preparation CDs for OCP are gone?

Looks like the preparation CDs for OCP are starting to disappear and all preparation are just Instructor led. Oracle should bring back the CDs for those with less money.

While they were probably a good profit source for miscreants selling duplicates via the internet equivalent of Peckham market. I really have no evidence for this but just wild guessing.
Perhaps they will return on blu-ray for enhanced experience Or perhaps they need an update to 11gR2. Or perhaps the web team made a mistake with the website.

  • My library including copied CDs have gone.

When I open itunes on my PC which has my whole library on included many copied CDs there is nothing there.  Has this disappeared forever or is it possible to restore my original library.
    Can anybody help.
    Regards

You might want to post this question over in the iTunes for Windows forum.  They can probably help you locate/rebuild your library.

  • I downloaded the latest itunes and now all of my music from my CDs are gone. What happened?

After I downloaded the latest itunes (10.4.1.10) I went to go use it. What I found was all of my songs I downloaded from my CDs were there, but when I clicked them it said : The song "..." could not be used because the original file could not be found. I have over 200 songs downloaded and I don't want to go and have to reload all of them. Is there anything I can do? And why did this happen?

You should be regularly backing up. Sometimes things get corrupted. Have you located the files in the iTunes folder to check them? I've never had an issue with updates, but it's always a good idea to take precautions. If you don't have a backup then a reload may be necessary, bear in mind it's currently US only.

  • I'm gonna upgrade to the iCloud 200gb option for my entire library including CDs, do I also have to subscribe and pay for iTunes match

    IiTunes Match

    Hi,
icloud storage and iTunes match are separate products.
What do you expect of your iCloud storage option? If it is your aim to have your music available to play on your iOS devices, you will need iTunes match. Icloud storage does not allow you to stream your music.

  • Can I download CS4 despite my installation cds are gone? I'm also having trouble signing in to my old Adobe ID.

I'm trying to download Adobe CS4 that I received from Ball State University. I'm trying to sign in to Adobe ID, but my e-mail account has discontinued. Is there any way that I can access the account?

Well I forgot my password, so when I tried to do the forgot password option it sent a message to my old e-mail account that I couldn't access. Luckily I was able to figure out my password, so I'm okay now. Thank you very much for responding.
