Cds not displaying in itunes

THis is a fairly recent problem, but when I enter a CD into the drive, it used to immediately show up in itunes. But now after about 30 seconds the only thing that happens is something called Gracenote pops up for a second, goes away and the CD never runs. This is true of burned CDS, store bought ones that have run in itunes before and ones that havent. I have no idea what happened!

I have experienced the same problem. When I am not connected to the internet GraceNote will also cause ITunes to hang up when a disc is put into the drive.
This occurs with Firewall active or inactive.
Seems to me that the R7 code stream has some defects related to burning and reading CDs (see alternate discussion threads wherein CD burning issues are illustrated).
Note that I cannot even perform CD diagnostics without my computer freezing up. (All other CD reading and burning applications work with no issues.)
Note that my most recent version of ITunes is R7.1.1 with CD driver 2.0.6.1. Can you let me (us) know what changes have been introduced with the R7 codestream and whether or not it is possible to revert back to a previous release wherein these problems were not evident?
Has something changed with the CD drivers resulting in these issues?

Does not display in iTunes -- How can I restore it?

I have not used my Nano for a while, and I upgraded to Leopard from Tiger since. I just plugged in my Nano and it briefly shows up in iTunes though it gives me a message that it was not properly disconnected and it disappears and in a minute or so it reconnects and disconnects again It keeps doing this.
I want to just restore it, though it does not display in iTunes long enough for me to do so. How can I restore it without being in iTunes?

You might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

My ipad not recognized and not displayed in iTunes

Hello,
i have a problem with my ipad 1 16 GB Wi-Fi,
when i try to connect my ipad to my laptop, it nothing happend. its not displayed in itunes, nowhere. its not also beeping.
I also have problem to charge my ipad, when i plug it in to the electric connector, its showing that ipad is not charging (but i can see that is charging slowly)
but
i rty a diagnostic via itunes -> no connected devices found
i try to connect to another computer -> still same problem
i try to change a docking cable -> still same problem
i try restart all settings -> still same problem
i try to go to recovery mode to detect via itunes -> still same problem
now when I deleted all data in ipad, i can see only "connect to itunes)
what i can do now ? is there some apple diagnostic tool, or some special usb mode to get it work ?

Album Art not displaying in iTunes

I have several mp3s where the album art does not display in iTunes, it does, however, display when I use other software such as MediaMonkey or foobar2000. The album artowork is stored in the tag. I've tried retagging them within iTunes, but it doesn't always work and is a time consuming process. I've also tried removing the ID3v1 tag portion from the file and leave just the ID3v2.3 tag, but no success either. Any thoughts?

It only happens wih some files, and I can't seem to find out what the correlation is.
If I take a series of mp3s where the album art cannot be displayed in iTunes but can in MediaMonkey or, extract the album art from the the tag through MediaMonkey (iTunes artwork fetching usually gives me poor results), and then assign the album art through iTunes, yes the album art does appear to be saved and displayed through iTunes. But that's a process.
Additionally, if I reassign the artwork in MediaMonkey (not readding it, just reapplying the assignment to all selected items) the artwork will show up in iTunes.
I'm going to play around with Mp3Tag and see if that yields anything.

Artwork will not display in iTunes 5 ?

compared to many this is a minor complaint, but is there anyway to get iTunes 5 to recognize or display album artwork? I had 4.9 on two different ibooks and the artwork displayed as expected. On both notebooks immediately after the update to iTunes 5.0 the ability to display album artwork ceased. I've tried turning it on and off, etc to no avail. Even on newly ripped CD's the artwork does not display. The iTunes window will only read "album Artwork Not Moodifiable" any fix for this admittedly minor issue would be appreciated.

If you mean, do I know that I can select all the tracks of a particular album and attach artwork to them all at the same time, yes I do. That's what I have been doing. What my main point is, #1 why do I have to do that at all. Should not the "cd cover" of the ripped album automatically be included in the tag of the ripped music? That is how it worked in 4.9, but it does not seeem to be working on 5.0. For whatever reason, a cd ripped with 5.0 does not include the artwork in the tag information. At least it does not on two different Mac's that I'm using. I've sat here ripping several CD's tonite and none of them have aertwork automatically attached to the audio files info.
And finally why does the music that I had ripped with ver 4.9 that did include the artwork in the id tags, no longer include it after the upgrade?? to 5.0.. Is there a way to correct this without going through and dragging new artwork to every album?
It's no big deal if Apple just stated it was a problem with the update, then I'd just re do it, but I do want to make sure I'm not dealing with an unrelated problem before wasting all that time copying a hundred blaady album covers.

Korean characters not displaying on itunes

I transferred my korean music to my macbook from windows computer...In my folder or file, it shows in Korean perfectly fine with no gibberish language. However, when I open them in itunes, in itunes a couple of the songs do not display in the korean characters..instead it shows in gibberish and I don't know how to fix this. Do i have to individually change the songs that are like that ? Not every song is like this. Majority of my songs are fine showing in korean language properly in itunes, but only a select number don't...Please tell me how to fix this. I already tried the ID3 Tags and REverse Unicode. Any other options??

Pages: Documents not displaying in Itunes

I have several documents in my Ipad in Pages. But when I sync to Itunes, they are not displaying under the app. I want to shift drafts to my PC from Pages.
Is e-mailing really the only way?
As an aside, it's not a good app - downloading to the iPad, many times whole sections are omitted, for no obvious reasons.

As an aside to your aside .... You have to be using Word on your PC since Pages is not made for Windows. I'm not defending Pages at all - you will have compatibility and formatting issues going from Pages to Word and from Word to Pages. There are issues with Pages on the iPad to Pages on the Mac. I use Pages so I know from first hand experience.
The documents that I am creating are very basic and I don't have big issues, but still there ares some nonetheless.
At some point, you may want to look at an alternative to Pages - maybe Documents to Go.??? I use Pages, but from what I read around here, Docs to Go has better compatibility with Word files than Pages.... Just something to think about.

Account Information not displaying in iTunes

I am having an issue where the Account Information screen is not displaying correctly in iTunes. I can see some of the buttons down the right hand side for example; edit, edit payment information, change country information and so on. Some of those buttons though are just actually grey buttons with nothing written on them. Also the actual information is not showing it is just blank, there is nothing at all.
I have so far tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and this didn't change anything.
I have de-authorised and re-authorised the PC and this didn't change anything.
I turned off my firewall and anti-virus but no success either.
I checked on another computer and can login with no issues and the account information is displayed with no problems.
I am running Windows Vista using Google Chrome as my web browser and testing via iTunes states my connection is fine.
Anyone have any suggestions?

ITunes Music Download Issues - Purchased Music Not Displaying in iTunes

I am having trouble with iTunes. This is what the problem is:
1) Purchased music / TV from iTunes.
2) Paused downloads.
3) Closed iTunes.
4) Later re-opened iTunes
5) Went to Store > Downloads
When I do this, the media which I have purchased, but not yet downloaded is not listed. At the bottom of this screen, it reads "62 iTunes Downloads Available." When I click on the download button, or go to Store > Check for Available Downloads, I receive the error "Unable to check for available downloads: the iTunes store is temporarily unavailable."
This has been happening yesterday and today. On two seperate networks. And this is also happening for my wife, who receives the same error on her iMac.
The odd thing is that I CAN purchase new music. If I purchase an album right now, the purchase goes through and the download begins. This indicates that I AM connected to iTunes. However, if I pause the downloads, close iTunes, and try to resume the downloads later (or download items that have been purchased, but not downloaded), than iTunes is unable to make the connection to the store.
My internet connection is working just fine. And as I said, I am able to connect in certain circumstances, but not others. Any suggestions? This seems to be a software flaw.

I am having a similar problem. I purchased an iTunes Essential package but only half of the songs downloaded. I have the 34 iTunes songs are available for download in the download file but nothing happens when I click on the button, no error message, no nothing.
I have been in touch with Apple and have gotten their perfunctory responses all of which indicate that I have the problem not them. I asked for a refund for the songs purchased and billed but not received, but no response to that age old customer service solution.
The last fix from them was to backup my iTunes files uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it. If that doesn't work they offered to provide me with a phone number for a customer service call that I might have to pay for!! I have decided not to uninstall and reinstall the software. I'm madder than **** and I will continue to send them problem message after problem message for as long as it takes to get them to refund my money.

CDs Will Not Display in iTunes Source list

1. CDs load to the desktop.
2. iTunes launches and does the CDDB search.
3. CD does not show up in source list.
4. Blown prefs, repaired permissions...same results.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have recently upgraded to OS 10.4.7 from 10.3.9. Using iTunes 6. CD appears on the desktop but nowhere near my iTunes. Cannot access it in anyway. Today I just upgraded to iTunes 7 and the same problem persists.

2 users on same iMac; 2 different iTunes; burned CDs not appearing in iTunes

My wife and I have an iMac 27", and we have our own users set up; however, we wish to share iTunes music library with each other. (She syncs her iPhone with her user signon, and I sync my iPhone with my user signon.) The songs we wish to share are all CDs that have been burned into iTunes using my user signon. The songs show up in my iTunes; however, they do not show up with her signon. Is this possible, or does that go against piracy laws?
I currently have iTunes in a public (shared) folder; however, this does not seem to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Old pictures can not display after Itunes upgrade

Earlier today I updated to the newest version of Itunes. I also added some new pictures to my synched directory for pictures (this directory has approx 725 pics that were all on my phone prior to this update of Itunes).
When I synched to add the new pictures I got a message saying "some pictures could not be synched because they can not be displayed on the phone". Only 200+ of the pictures were transfered and the rest are not there.
Again all of these pictures were on teh phone before so I am not sure why they can not be displayed now. I have tried re-synching and that did not help.
Any thoughts?

I am also having this problem. I have a 160gb classic that I bought last fall. I have a work computer I've used for my iTunes synch base due to broadband access. The system had worked well enough with 64 bit XP and a few registration tweaks to calm itunes about working in that old environment. Forward to 2 weeks ago - I copy my library to the network drive so that IT can scrub the computer and upgrade me to Win 7. Computer is back up, install the newest version if iTunes, seems to come up fine. Several rounds of re-importing the library after it kept entering all the songs twice. Go to re-synch the ipod - get the 'this is a new device, erase *EVERYTHING* and re-synch. Yep yep. Sits there for nearly two hours saying it's re-uploading stuff. Then on the way home, I see - hey, a ton of stuff isn't there, lots of missing podcasts. Go check, everything is checked, new stuff downloaded, can listen to it on the PC with headphones. Then go synch the iPod - get the same 'things are updating..... synch finished'. And nothing has up- or down-loaded. Tried unchecking stuff, nada. Import new stuff, nada. Nothing Plus it looks like pretty much every CD i ripped into itunes for the past 4-5 months failed to move - maybe iTunes was saving it somewhere else than the My Music folder. PITA-factor of that aside, I'd really like to get at the last 3-4 weeks of podcasts. Any help on getting the system to actually do a real sy
My other changes in the last few weeks are getting a new iPhone to replace an old non-iPhone, so there is another devicee on the account. I don't see my iPod listed amongst my devices in the iTunes store - not sure if that's only for wireless stuff.

The image which appears when you subscribe and play an episode is not referenced in the feed: it has to be actually embedded in the media file. This page explains the situation and how to remedy it:

Another point: your 'itunes:subtitle' tag for your episode (which populates the description column on subscribing) begins '[caption id="attachment_26" align="alignnone" width="300"...' : you should not put html or style data here - iTunes is displaying it rather than rendering it. You need to stick to plain text for all the itunes tags containing displayed information.
