CDS WILL NOT EJECT IT IS TRYING TO BUT NO GO

CDS will not eject, is trying to but no go, Any help?

What do you mean by "is trying"? Do you hear any noises, see any indications on screen, or what?
How specifically did you try to eject the CD?

  • Karaoke CDs will not eject

    Hi all,
I'm new to the Mac world so bear with me. My wife brought home a Karaoke CD the other day. The music would play OK but the CD would not eject. One symptom is that when you attempt to eject another CD icon appears on the desktop 1 icon is the original labeled "Karaoke" the second (new) one is labeled Untitled I believe. I have tried the following to eject the CD:
    1) Eject from FInder
    2) Pull Icon from desktop to trash can
    3) Disk util hangs searching for disk information so you don't get the chance to try that one.
    4) In a terminal drutil tray eject also hangs after the command is issued
    5) You cannot umount the volume
So I'm confused. I get that a Mac mini may not be a Karaoke machine but why can't it eject a disk?

Let me add a little clarity to my original post:
The mini I have is an has an Intel processor
I have tried the holding down the mouse trick without success but holding down the X key is new to me. I actually had to disassemble my computer to get the disk out.
I had read that there is a switch on the right side of the disk slot accessible with a straightened paper clip that would perform an eject but Inever got that to work either.
I really like my new mini and I think the engineering is very well thought out so I am searching for an answer because I just can't believe that there is no way to eject a CD regardless of how confused a piece of software may have become.

  • My CD will not eject, tried holding down the trackpad and restarting still won't eject.

My cd will not eject.  I tried restarting my Mac while holding down the trackpad, still it will not eject.  I hear it try to open but nothing happens.

If you have a Retina model then you don't have a built in Superdrive, it would be external. As far as I know the holding down of the trackpad to Force Eject a CD/DVD disc from the drive only works on models that have built in CD/DVD drives. So you'll need to take ther drive apart to get the disc out.
More than likely your external Superdrive has failed in some way, like the moter that is used to take in and eject the disc has failed.
In the future buy a new DVD drive that is a tray load design. Any brand will work with your Mac. It does not have to have the Apple name on it to work properly on any Mac computer.

  • My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?

My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?  It is her computer, a iMac G3 or G4 with superdrive, the one with the ball shaped base.   Thank you.

It's a tray loading drive, there should be a little hole next to it, just large enough for a paper clip.  Stick the end of the paper clip in it and the tray should open.

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • All of a sudden my CDs will not load into my iTunes ...

I just recently noticed that cds will not load into my library, nor will iTunes prompt me to play them when inserted.  You can hear the machine plunking along as if trying to read it, then it will automatically eject.  What gives?  Have not had this problem before...I am running iTunes 9 on a iMac with OS 10.4.  thanks.

    Hey aj5c,
Let's see if resetting Safari helps the issue:

For best results, make sure all of the options are checked.

Hello, my name is Tyesha Woods I onw a Macbook and my dvd hard drive will not ejected my cd ,I have tryed everthing I could would you please help me?

    Hi Tyesha,
    Your DVD won't eject?
Restart the MacBook - as it is restarting, hold the trackpad button down. This will force it to eject. The disk should eject before you get to the login screen or desktop.

  • Optical Disc will not eject

I recently installed Leopard on my Macbook and forgot to eject the optical disc.
I just tried to eject it and it will not eject. I used every method to eject a DVD that I could find. The drive makes the usual eject sounds but nothing happens.
I viewed the slot in the side of my Macbook with a flashlight. I have no idea if this is normal or not but there seems to be a cardboard barrier blocking the slot. The cardboard barrier has a thin line across the middle from one end to the other.
I've read this dicussion topic and found nothing like this problem.
Thanks to everyone for any advice.

Functioning optical drives don't act like that, so it sounds like you have an optical drive that has failed. I would suggest calling Apple (800-275-2273) and having them set up a repair. Mail in repairs can often be completed in under a week.
    Best of luck.

  • CD works, but will not eject?

I'm experiencing the disc will not eject problem. I burned a CD of photos today, and once it finished I tried to eject. I had this grinding-like noise and the disk would not eject. Once that stopped it would spin up again and I could read the contents of the disk.
I have tried dragging to trash, F12, Disk Utility eject, File Eject, Open Firmware eject cd, repair permissions, and holding mouse down on boot. None will eject and the same grinding sound is there. The disk will then power up and I can read it. Deive sounds normal while reading the disk.
I don't really want to use tweezers, as one post mentioned, and I'm not sure the credit card works either. I tried easing itno the RHS of the drive without success -- did not seem to catch anything. If you go to far you catch the spinning disk.
At this point I'm open to suggestions?
Running iBook G4, 1.42 GHz. 1.5 GB RAM. OS X 10.5.3. This is the first time I've had this happen. CD was burned with Toast as a picture CD.
    System profiler shows:
    TEAC DV-W28SLA:
    Firmware Revision: 2.0H
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 1419 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Type: CD-ROM
    Blank: No
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: No
    Appendable: No

I have the same problem, all specs are the same. The dvd is junk, I think our only option is to replace the dvd. Might be a common problem for this model. I hear the grinding when I turn the computer on, does yours do the same?

  • Mac PRO Desktop blank DVD will not eject keeps freezing. "LION"

Hi, my Mac pro will not eject the blank disc i inserted into the drive, I am running lion and it keeps trying to read the disc and makes everything freeze.
you cannot reset or shut down the machine properly unless you hold down the power button.
is their a Physical emergancy eject on the mac pro desktop or a way to get the diwc out?
Yes I have tried ejecting uning terminal and disk utility will not open becouse of the DVD drive.

You have added too much junk:
    com.senstic.driver.PocketAudioDevice          1.1
    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver          1.0.0
    com.digidesign.iokit.DigiIO          7.4.1d0
    com.digidesign.iokit.DigiDal          7.4.1d0
    com.avid.driver.Avid_SCSI          1.2.0
    com.SiliconImage.driver.Si3132          1.2.5
If you want Apple to address your problems, the first requirement is to reproduce the problem with no third-party kernel extensions present.
Most users find that when the eliminate the third-party kernel extensions, they eliminate the kernel panics.
The black screens could also be caused by your graphics card beginning to go.

  • DVD will not eject

A DVD in the slot-loading drive will not eject. My iBook reads the disk as it appears on my desktop and I can play the DVD. But as soon as I hit the eject key (F12), it makes a weird sound, like it's trying to eject, but the DVD will not eject. Can some one tell me what I can do? I have tried all the normal procedures, like holding the track pad while starting up, doing the Firmware thing at start-up, etc... All I get is the weird spinning sound, but no disk ejected. Please some one tell me what I need to do. Thank you in advance!

When open firmware doesn't work, it sounds like a hardware problem with the ejector. I would take the machine into service and let them know you tried the open firmware method.
In the future be sure to follow this link as far as the allowed optical media on slot loading drives:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58641
And note that disks which have been written on by sharpie or other type of pen, or a sticky applied to them can cause the drive to age prematurely. Always buy media in jewelcases by known reliable vendors. For CD that's Verbatim, Kodak, Imation, and Sony. For DVD check http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia/

  • A dvd will not eject from my brand new IMac. I have done every suggestion in the help area. Any suggestions on how to get this DVD out of the computer?

My brand new IMac will not eject a DVD. I have tried everything that was suggested in "help". It didn't recognize the dvd, and whenever I try to eject it, it is not highlighted. I have tried to restart while holding the track pad, and nothing happened at all. The dvd is from the library...so it needs to be returned! Any other suggestions?

Have you tried all of these?
    1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
    2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
    3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
    4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
    5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
    6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
    7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

  • Disc drive will not eject in Windows 7

I just upgraded from XP pro to Windows 7 home premium yesterday and it's all been working great save one little detail: my disc drive will not eject discs. I've tried the eject button (I'm on an aluminum macbook late 2008) as well as manually ejecting the discs from explorer. When I boot up in OSX I can eject discs fine. It's probably also important to note I'm using the bootcamp drivers that came with my 10.5.6 OSX installation disc, so I don't know if those are up to par for running Windows 7.
    Any suggestions would be great

    Hi,
I have the same problem with windows 7 not ejecting discs (with macbook pro late 2008 with latest Bootcamp drivers installed).
At the moment I can eject the dics only by putting windows 7 to sleep (closing the lid) and on wake the disc ejects by pressing the normal Eject key.
Hope apple (or MS ??) will fix this...

  • Discs Will Not Eject from Internal or External Burner

Am attempting to transfer my entire iTunes libraries to iTunes on a new PC. I go to backup on disk, choose "Backup entire iTunes Library and playlists", select the burner, and leave preferred speed at max possible. It says it will take six discs, I say OK, tray pops open, I insert disk and off it goes. At then end of the burn of disk one, it says insert a blank disc.
At this point, disc one will not eject no matter what. It does not eject automatically, it does not respond to manual commands from iTunes to eject, it does not respond to hitting the eject button. This is to say that the disc is captured and the tray will not open.
I have tried to burn the backup from the internal burner as well as from a USB external with the same results. No matter what, the disc will not eject. I have tried several combinations of sequences of commands, wasted 10 discs now (they are all disc burn #1 as I have gotten no further).
I want to transfer all of my extensive iTunes stuff to my new PC. Can anyone help me?

That is my exact question. I want to know how I can indicate a different drive to eject
