The QT X v10.1 app installs in your "Applications folder and QT 7 v7.6.6 (whether keyed for "Pro" use or not) is installed in the "Applications/Utilities" folder. It is recommended you keep them in these locations so they will continue to update correctly/automatically.

  • Firefox does not install in the APPs folder

I have received new MacBookPro days ago. As I start installing additional softwares including firefox (2.0.0.4 and 2.0.0.5) that I downloaded as a dmg file, I fond that firefox does not install in the Applications folder. When I click dmg file, it expands and attach to the /Volumes with icons on the desktop.
It is annoying as it is not easy to find out where the program is. Is there anything I did wrong?
On my old MacBook it installed in the Applications folder and I was put it in the dock..
    Any help will be appreciated.

You should have a window entitled Firefox on the desktop as well as the drive icon. If the window is not showing double click on the drive icon and it will appear.
In the window on the left is the colorful Firefox icon with Firefox.app written underneath - click on and drag into your Application folder. Thats it.
Clear the drive icon as normal

  • After restoring backup new macbook with time machine Firefox will not start. says missing profile

after restoring backup on new macbook with time machine Firefox will n to start. It says it is missing profile although profile exists and profile manager will not start. Also reinstalling does not help. Direct after starting Firefox it says profile is missing and then quits Firefox. Please help edit

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
    See:

  • Bootcamp not starting, BOOTMGR missing

Hello all, hope you're having happy holidays.  Anyways, I foolishly attempted to increase the size of my bootcamp partition using Disk Utility and failed, only creating a second partition for my Macintosh HD.  I deleted the second partition and attempted to re-allocate the space to the original Macintosh HD, but not only am I not able to do that but I can't boot back into Windows via Bootcamp.  When holding the option key while starting I only get the options "Macintosh HD" and "Recovery".  I do get the option to select Windows 7 as the startup disk under System Preferences, but while starting I get the error message "BOOTMGR Missing, Press any key to restart" and I my keyboard doesn't respond so I have to hold power to restart into OSX.  I've seen other users with this issue so I was hoping maybe someone could provide me with some help on this.  I have a Mid-2009 13-inch MacBook Pro, with a 2.53ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, running OSX 10.9.5.  Thank you for any help in advance.

Nevermind.  I created a Windows install "disc" using Bootcamp, a thumb drive, and my Windows iso.  Then I selected Windows as the startup disk under preferences and loaded into the Windows installer on the thumb drive.  I selected "repair this computer", rand "chkdsk" in the command prompt, and ran the automatic repair tool.  After it restarted I held option and Windows showed up on the startup disk options.  Thanks for nothin

  • My Time Machine is NOT backing up the Apps folder, I do have Adobe Creative Cloud.

    Help

Is it backing up any system folders?
Pondini noted that there seemed to be a bug that happens to a few where it doesn't back up the system files.
I think you might need to do a full reset of Time Machine and start it over.

  • Strange App Folder Issue

Out of 300 machines in the whole building, I have a lab that does not show a specific App folder in the start menu. When the same user logs in on a different machine, it shows up for them there.
I can't figure out why, I've even reimaged the machines back to base and still it happens.
Has anyone else ever seen this issue?

One of the other folders is in the same OU, the others are located elsewhere. It boggles my mind that it only happens to those machines and no others within the building. And its only the start menu, if I set it to Desktop shortcut, it works

  • Crs will not start on 10.2.0.3

    Hi All !
    RHEL 4 AS U2, 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL
After installation of a patch 10.2.0.3 it has ceased to be started crs.
    [root@racnode1 init.d] ./init.crs start
Startup will be queued to init within 30 seconds
    Thus crs will not start
    cd /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/install
    [root@racnode1 install] ./root102.sh
All fades on string "Starting will be queued to init withhin 30 seconds"
    In crsd.log:
    2007-02-01 12:11:53:10.143 [ COMMCRS][2808851376]clsc_connect (0x8b5b930) no listener at (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=ipc)(KEY=SYSTEM.evm.acceptor.auth))
    Help me please !!!

We experienced the same failure with CRS a none start after the patch (from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3)-- running RH 4.3 with Linux 2.6.9-42.ELsmp on 32 bit HP boxen. SELINUX is very disabled! Logging is no help. Could there be a connection with the following?:
11.8 VIP May Relocate to the Last Node While Upgrading Oracle
    Clusterware
Rolling upgrade or upgrade of Oracle Clusterware to 10.2.0.3 patch set
may cause VIP to move to the last node.
    Workaround:
Enter the following command to relocate the VIP to the preferred node:
    crs_relocate VIP Resource
Then try to restart the CRS daemons
This issue is tracked with Oracle bug 5673067.
However, I cannot find a bug with that id...
Hope an answer is forthcoming, as this is holding up the proof-of-concept test for a mid-sized project...
    Thanks

  • Firefox disappears from my dock and I have to copy it to my Apps folder each time I start up, and I am then prompted to install the latest version, but notification will not go beyond contacting server.

I have tried many of the suggested solutions from online communities, like uninstalling and reinstalling, but I still have the same problem - Firefox disappears from my dock, when I click on the 'question mark' in the dock to open it, I'm asked to copy to my Apps folder, which I have to do each time and replace old version. Then I'm prompted to install the latest version, but when I do this, it gets stuck on contacting server. Please help! I'm using Yosemite 10.10.

Do you have the current version of list.it (version 0.4.8.9.1)? This page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12737/ indicates it is compatible with all Firefox 3.6.* versions.
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions shows what version. If it is old, click "Find Updates" at the bottom of the Extensions window.

  • ITunes thinks I'm new user every day + App folder missing

For the last 7 days or so (I have not installed anything new on my computer) I have a problem that every morning when I run iTunes (v10) it thinks I'm a new user. I get the welcome screen and it goes through some options of managing your files etc. Once iTunes runs I'm also missing my "Apps" folder under "Library".
This has never happened before and I have had iTunes for a long while. I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit, if that's at all relevant.
Please help! This is driving me mad LOL!
Thanks in advance for any help

Your auto complete problem is a little baffling. Check Mail->Preferences then the Viewing tab and see if Use Smart Addresses is checked. It probably is, so I'm probably not going to be able to be much help about that one.
LDAP is awesome. It allows you to connect to your mail server to search for email addresses. Rather than go through a directory at your work, you can just start typing a name or an email address and the LDAP will search for how to complete it. This is without anything being in your Address Book. Whether this works is up to how your mail server is set up. It works well enough at my iMac at work that there are almost no contacts in my Address Book. I just end up relying on the LDAP working.
Not having this configured probably isn't messing up your auto-complete however.
Your auto-response is easier (and harder). You'll set up a new rule. Go to Mail->Preferences. Then go to the Rules tab. You'll want to add a rule. You can do all kinds of crazy stuff with this, but you'll probably just want to set it up such at Any message with the Date Received is less than 1 Day gets a Reply to Message. You can then specify your message.
You can play around with this by making it auto-reply to messages only if you are the sender. This way you don't accidentally tell a bunch of folks your are gone (I just did that by the way).
This is probably obvious, but this sets things at YOUR machine, not your mail SERVER. I forget which way other programs work, but with this method your computer will have to be on and Mail must be running to use the auto-respond.
There may be another way to do things. I hope that's not too much of a party killer. You may have better luck asking your email provider how to get that set up since it is a matter of a server setting.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I would suggest you use the Accounts System Preferences to create a new user. Log out and log in as the new user. Does the same thing happen to the new user? If so, you have a system-wide problem that may require re-installing Mac OS X. If they don't encounter the same error, then there's some preference or setting in your user's folder that's causing the problem. I'm not really sure, but the "missing image" line at the bottom would seem to me something that might require you to re-install Mac OS X...

  • Errors on startup - app does not start

I tried to start photoshop today and received two errors and the app will not start. I tried un-installing and re-installing (cloud apps), but I encounter the same errors
Can't post screen shots - you can't read them. First error says "Could not load actions as an unexpected end of file was encountered" The second one says "Could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleated)"
any idea what I could try. I haven't installed any new software. PS worked a few days ago, other programs working OK, even cloud stuff

Delete the preferences in the prefs folder:
    Important Directories
and since this may indicate that you have systemic issues that damage files, you might wanan read some of that and act accordingly:

Fadi, Context Value Management runs during Rapid Install or AutoConfig to make sure the context file is in good order. If it fails at the time of the installation, then most probably you have missing components at the OS level.
