Ceasing automatic loading of QuickTime videos

Hi,
I have a blog on which I use QT videos. I am getting some complaints that these videos automatically load up when people enter my site, rather than waiting for the user to load, should they wish. Is there anyway that I can stop this from occurring, either through the code that I use, or does the user have to adjust something with their settings?
Many thanks.

  • Quicktime videos take forever to load on my system

Is it me alone, or does anyone have the same problem? I have a excellent system, and nothing takes forever to load on it, only Quicktime videos. The only reason why I use quicktime on my XP machine is to watch the videos that are downloaded from my Kodak camera memory card since the camera saves its video files as quicktime videos, but it takes forever for the video files to load after I have downloaded them and saved them into a folder on my system. When I want to go back and view the videos, the folder freezes until all the videos, even if it is only one video in the folder loads. Why is that? Other video files load immediatley from avi, wmv,to divx, etc.
    Does anybody have a solution?

  • Quicktime video (.mov file) will not load and play in Firefox 3.6.16

I have a computer with Firefox 3.6.16 installed that will not play Quicktime videos (.mov files) in the browser. This is a desktop computer.
Another computer (laptop) with exactly the same version of Firefox installed will load and play them perfectly in the Quicktime player.
Both computers have Quicktime addin 7.6.9.0 installed and designated as the default application for Quicktime movies.
Both computers play the videos correctly in IE 8.
When attempting to play the video in Firefox, the player window opens and attempts to load the video, but soon seems to freeze leaving a black window open where the player should be.
From what I have observed, this seems to be a problem related specifically to this computer, and since the video plays in IE I have ruled out the firewall blocking loading from the site.

Hi, I've exactly the same problem, 'cept I've XP Pro. When I say exactly, I mean the format used is HDV 1080i60, along with everything else there.
And I'm right there with you. Why Quicktime can't play a natively encoded HDV Quicktime file (using Final Cut Pro), is beyond me, but basically, I've used K-Lite Codec Pack, and Quicktime. Neither work, although Quicktime does ask for internet connectivity to download resources or something similar (I don't have Internet Access at home). I've used VLC on a friend's PC, and, while it works, there is a very strange, and irritating flicker where there's heavy movement
Where can I get the resource needed, as another party needs to view the clip, and they already have it. So if they can update their codec library or similar, then that would be much better (as I wouldn't need to upload a FullHD Video again)
    thanks

  • Embedded Quicktime videos will not fully load!

I've been attempting to watch an embedded Quicktime video on a website but it will only load for a certain portion and stop loading. Everytime I refresh and try again a different amount will load but never the whole thing.

    Hi,
According to your description, since both IE and Chrome has same problem, it's not browser problem.
Have you tried to disable firewall and Symantec temporarilly for test?
If problem persists, firstly start system with Clean boot. Then using Process Monitor to capture the trace of accessing bing.com.

  • Control quicktime video loading external with lingo

    Hello:
I have a director 11.5 movie in wich I need to show several quicktime videos. When the user click button  one (5 buttons) the video 1 plays. Is possible in the same Director movie to loadthe requested video changing the cast or sprite in fly?
can you tell me how, please?
    Thank you very much.

You can swap video sprites on the fly, just like images. If you had "video1" and "video2" in your cast, and sprite channel 1 was video1 you could do something like this:
    on mouseUp me
      myVideo = sprite(me.spriteNum).member.name
      if myVideo = "video1" then
         myVideo = "video2"
      else
        myVideo = "video1"
      end if
      sprite(me.spriteNum).member = myVideo
    end
If you have a lot of videos you could handle them like this:
    property pMyList, pNum
    on beginSprite me
      pMyList = ["video1", "video2", "video3", "video4"]
      pNum = 1
    end
    on mouseUp me
      -- increment list value
      pNum = pNum + 1
      if pNum > pMyList.count then
        pNum = 1
      end if
      myVideo = sprite(me.spriteNum).member.name
-- use list element to determine which cast member to display
      sprite(me.spriteNum).member = pMyList[pNum]
    end

  • Help Please -Need video to NOT automatically load when not using autoplay feature

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me or point me to the right
place to find what I need!
I use the standard skins in Flash for putting videos onto a
webpage but I am having problems when I use more than one video on
    a page.
I have the videos set to autoplay -false, however the page
takes forever to load because the videos still download so they are
'ready' to play. (Of course this is what you want when you have one
video on a page but it is not helpful for more than one video...)
I have looked through the parameter options for the flv and
the HTML publish setting but can not find anything in here -I have
also tried to search through this forum and have tried "googling"
but no luck. Perhaps I am using the wrong terminology for my search
but I am not sure what the correct terminology is.
I am pretty sure that I need to go in to the actual flash
file of the skin and alter it to suit my needs but I am not sure
what code I need to do this etc....
I am using Flash CS3 and using the Actionscript3 skins. I
know how to access the standard flash skin flash files and alter
them to customize them but my knowledge of code is not the best.
If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it!!

  • Quicktime videos in new web-page not loading.

I'm completely baffled by the following and hope someone might be able to help me.
I'm busy with a clients web site which has a gallery where quicktime video clips of their projects can be viewed.
    http://www.arconafrica.netfirms.com/gallery.html
We've gone trough the process of placing each clip in its own page, but for some odd reason when you open a page some videos will start to download and play, other pages just give you a white Question-mark over the Quicktime logo. The really bizarre part is that some videos that we can't download and play on our computers, downloads and play on our clients computers, others play on ours but not theirs... it's really weird as all the settings for each clip is exactly the same.
All the machines that we tested this on are Mac's, we haven't tested a Windows machine yet.
I have a suspicion that I might have made a mistake with the encoding of the videos to Quicktime, maybe I've selected a setting that I shouldn't have which plays havoc with various servers... It's the first time I'm trying to put video clips in a web site...
The video clips where converted in compressor. Using the Quicktime 7, H264 at 300 or 800 kbps streaming. As they are all PAL files I've selected a frame rate of 25 per sec at Medium quality. Hinted streaming is on.
    I'd appreciate any advice!!!

Part of the error could be caused by your out of date page code. Yours only uses the embed tag:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60883
When I went looking for your individual files I could only find one:
    http://arconafrica.media-nf.netfirms.com/Quicktime%20movies/Martin%20Keyzer-H.26 4%20300Kbps%20Streaming.mov
The %20 is used for spaces in file names.
No need to use hinted movies as your file are not "streamed". They download and only need "Fast Start".
Double check your server to be sure all of the QuickTime files are properly uploaded and are named correctly.

  • Authoring: Links from and to QuickTime video?

(Sorry for the long post, trying to explain in detail what I’m looking for ...)
Here is something I would like to do - maybe you guys can tell me if this is possible using QuickTime (I will not be doing this myself, but I need to know if QuickTime is the way to go).
    1) Embed several videos/audio files using the QuickTime plug-in in an HTML page, with the usual playback controls.
    2) Place links or form elements (buttons) in the page to those videos, allowing (via JavaScript/DOM) to
    a) play, pause and jump to a specific (SMPTE) position in a QuickTime video.
    b) loop a section of the video (by giving two positions and a loop command)
    c) change audio volume.
    3) Have links from those videos to the page/DOM - i.e., when once video is running, JavaScript events should be sent to the page to hide/load/update content; either automatically or user-driven (by clicking on the embedded video at a certain time - if possible, with hotspots so multiple options can be triggered; similar to a DVD menu).
I’d like to do the same with audio. So I am basically looking for a mechanism to link to and from real-time content.
    Is this possible?
What authoring/editing tools would be required?
And I have another question regarding workflow, because this will not be a one-man show.
The scenario for producing this stuff (e-learning) will/should be something like this:
    - Person A records video and audio, does a little post production, delivers media/files (DV, MP3).
    - Person B batch-converts the videos to MOV format (using whatever tool), but doesn’t do any creative work.
    - Person C with some HTML/JavaScript knowledge and a stopwatch builds the page, embeds the OV file(s) and sets the cues that will jump to certain positions. HTML pages and MOV files are uploaded to a plain-vanilla HTTP server.
Is this a realistic scenario? Is it possible to "remote-control" QuickTime movies without having to fiddle with authoring tools once the actual video is finished?
I would appreciate your comments. Also, if the above is possible, I’d be grateful for links to showcase sites.
    Thank you.

Glad I could be of any hepl.
I found a way to put together the video and audio, I don't know if it's the smartest, but it works:
    - change the .ogg in mp3 (with your audio editing programme of your choice, including D-Vision)
    - in QuickTime Pro open the avi and the mp3; select the whole mp3 file; copy it.
    - go to the avi file in QuickTime and choose "Edit > add to movie".
    - save the resulting movie as your format of choice.
If you need a DivX file, you can save in QuickTime as mov, then use Toast 7 to build a DivX.
I know, long and twisted way... If you find a smarter one, let me know.

  • Quicktime video (.mov) slow start up on web page

    Hi,
I have a 15.5 MB Quicktime video file (.mov) embedded in a plain html file. When I load the page from the web server (i.e. http://mywebsite.com/movie.mov), it takes about 3 minutes to load up the video file. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks!

    HI AltaExile,
You can enter BIOS setup, and check Recovery Policy item. Change the setting to automatic. There should have a confirmation page ask you to accept after reboot.
    Thanks,

  • HT201317 my photos on my iphone 5 used to automatically load onto my PC.  I did not do the upgrade to my iphone because i don't like the new look.  Could this be what is stopping the auto upload of the photos onto my photostream ?

Photos on my iphone 5 stopped automatically loading onto my PC.  I have tried everything (i can think of) short of deleting the account because if you delete there is a warning..... all photos will be deleted..
So any thoughts ??  I have not updated to 7.0 but this auto upload photostream featured still worked well until the end of October.

    Hi Edward,
You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Take a look at the first article below to give more information on that. As far as your other questions about calling someone, I have provided two options for you. If it is for feedback on iTunes, you can use the second link to give detailed feedback on what is going on. If you want to actually talk to someone, the last link has a list of numbers for you to call for any support or service that you may need.

  • Apple quicktime video doesn't play on windows 7

I installed Quicktime on a new Windows 7 machine in order to watch videos (e.g., iCloud) on apple.com. Each time I select a video, I get the "Install Quicktime" window instead of the video, even though Quicktime is up and running.

You should use Flash debug version. When you do, you will se a security error:
SecurityError: Error #2148: SWF file http://clienttestsite.x10.mx/beta/swfs/managers.swf cannot access local resource C:\Users\Demetrius McClain\Desktop\Value Insight\chevrolet\video.f4v. Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.

  • Quicktime video vanishes with Firefox 4.0

I just updated my web browser to Firefox 4.0, and suddenly the embedded Quicktime video in my iWeb-created website has become totally unpredictable. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not. Mostly it's not. And when it's not, the spot where the video should be is totally blank. Not even the big Quicktime "Q." If you click on the blank space a big dotted rectangle appears.
The video is fine on every other browser I've tried: Safari, Chrome, I.E., and the Firefox version I was using before. I've wondered if it's a missing plug-in, but I'm not getting prompted for anything.
    Any ideas?

The QT movie opened promptly for me in Firefox 4.0. The fact that it's intermittent for you with FF indicates that it's a connection issue and not an iWeb issue. For some reason not all of the files are being loaded by FF at those times. (The server is probably being run by an Ohio State graduate )

Note: using Quicktime for you slide presentation will exclude all those users from the dark side who don't have Quicktime installed on their PCs. You might look into a java based method for the presentation. There are lots of them out there. With the free Jalbum you have over 100 themes/skins to choose from.

  • IMovie will not load avi/wmv videos, leaves sound out of mpg/mpeg videos

When i load mpg and mpeg videos into iMovie, the videos come out fine, but leave the sound out for some reason. There is no sound clip that is loaded with it. And when it comes to loading "avi" videos, it loads them, but they are blank. It loads a black video clip with no sound. And when it comes to downloading "wmv" videos it stops and says there was an error. This is the message it sends me. "The file could not be imported: The file “Macintosh HD/Volumes/Maxtor Extra Storage/WTC VIDEOS/WMV/911.wtc.2.no.base.smoke.wmv” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048".
If you know anything about this, have an answer, or even a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate a response from you. My computer model is a Mac OSX 10.0 and I currently have iLife 06 with iMovie HD. Thanks a lot.

    Hello Mike,
MPEG video has muxed audio streams, which iMovie doesn't like - you'll have to convert.
Find some more info in Dan Slagle's Unofficial iMovie FAQ:
    1. Can't hear audio in iMovie when I import an MPEG clip
    http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6030.shtml
    2. Using Mpeg (DVD) footage
    http://danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6010.shtml
and also on Matti Haveri's website: How can I edit MPEG or convert DVD or MPEG to DV
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/%7Eshmhav/SVCDon_a_Macintosh.html#edit_convertMPEG
    Tools:
    MPEG StreamClip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
    Apple MPEG2 PlayBack:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
AVI is a container (like Quicktime's .mov) and contain various codecs. In order to know how to convert, you'll need to find out what exact codec has been used. A possibility is that it's one of the numerous DivX codecs.
FFmpegX converts various AVI and DivX file types:
    http://homepage.mac.com/major4/
WMV files can be played with Flip4Mac, in order to convert them you'll need to get the $$ pro-version ....

    hope this helps

  • Uploading a Quicktime Video

I have iMovieHD.  For years, I have loaded my Quicktime movies (with a .mov tag) on to the internet.  My most recent video has (for some reason) a .dv tag and will not upload to the internet.  I'm not aware of having done anything differently.  How do I save a movie in Quicktime so that it will have the .mov tag?
    --Dave

    Depends.
You can create titles using Effects>video generators > text (or Boris > title3d).
Set the length of the desired text in the top left tc box of the viewer. (it defaults to max 2 minutes, but if you set duration BEFORE inserting in the timeline, you'll be fine).
    Type the text you want.
Drag the clip on the highest track in the timeline.
Doubleclick it. This instance of the title opens in the viewer. Under the Controls tab in the viewer you can set font, fontsize etc.
Under the Motion tab of the viewer you can set the scale size, position and opacity....

  • Burning a shuffled playlist of Quicktime video clips

I have a folder with 308 Quicktime video clips in it.
I wondered if there was an easy way to burn to DVDs a shuffled playlist of video clips.
I have Toast but that only caters for shuffling photos or music.
I don't have the space to load them all into itunes.
Is there a way of shuffling the files names with the finder to then add to Toast or something like that?
    Thanks,
