Cell border colour adjustments in Numbers 3

Hi,
is there a way to change just the colour of borders? I have a table with mixed styles of borders and want to change them from black to grey (similar to the default style at the bottom left of the style chooser).
Additionally, how can I find out which colour is used in order to reproduce a table style?
Thanks,
p.

Hi papalapapp,
Here's a way I've found to change the color of borders:
1. Choose a line type.
2. Click the color picker to choose a color:
3. Click a border pattern to apply:
Not sure about the answer to your question about how to find out which color is used, in order to reproduce a table style.

  • Cell border will not hold.

    A cell will not maintain a border.  When I try to select which line to use, it immediately goes back to "none", thoughts?

    Hi keirby,
    Border format controls may be found in the Format bar near the top of the document window (top image) and in the Table Inspector (bottom image).
    Note that there are four controls in the Format bar. The Inspector splits the first one, the border selection menu, into three sets of buttons. The remaining controls are uses to set the border Style, the border Width, and the Border Colour. If you use only the first (which is what I suspect you have done), you will have Selected the border that you want to change, but haven't specified what changes you want to make.
    Here are the steps to set a wide, dashed red border on a set of three cells:
    Select the cells to which the border will be applied.
    In the Format bar, select the bottom border, using the first pop-up menu button.
    When you release the mouse button,the blue Selection rectangle showing the three selected cells (above) will be replaces by a blue Selection line showing the bottom edge of these cells in selected. No change has yet been made to the border.
    Use the Style button to choose the dashed line.
    Use the Stroke Thickness button to choose 2 pt.
    Click the Stroke Color Well and choose a Red from the Color Palette that opens.
    The selection line will change to reflect each of these choices as it is made and applied to the selected border.
    Click any unselected cell on the table to deselect the cells just changed, or click away from the table to deselect the whole table and view the changes.

  • Creating Cells with differing heights in Numbers '09

    In any given Row is it possible to have different cells with different heights because I've found that if I set the cell height to be e.g. 1cm then all the cells in the whole row are 1cm which isn't always the desired effect.
    Thanks

    S,
    A Row is a unit with a singular height value. All cells in that row will have the same height in a Numbers Table. Adjacent rows can be made to appear to have cells with differing heights by manipulating the Cell Border characteristics. You also have the option to combine individual tables in such a way that they appear to be a single table with different row heights.

  • Cell border not appearing in Adobe forms

    Hi,
    We Placed a button in internal table cell and itu2019s property is set to invisible.
    This button is set to visible based on value of other column value in the same row of table.
    But border for the cell is not coming when button is invisible.
    Note: the button size is equal to cell size and so when we make the button invisible ,the cell border itself is not appearing as the whole cell is invsible.
    How make the cell border visible even the button in that cell is invisible.
    Please put your suggestions in this regard.

  • Cell Border Line Weight

    I would like to use different Line Weights on spreadsheet cell borders, but no matter what Line Weight I choose from the Accents window, I always get (both visually and printed) the same Line Weight (hairline?) when I set a cell border. Am I missing something?

    I didn't enter the system details because the problem appeared on all the (different) systems I tried: iBook G4 (OS X 10.3.8), iMac G4 (OS X 10.3.9), iMac G5 (OS X 10.4.?), AppleWorks 6.2.7 and 6.2.9. I understand the need in general, but since this problem persisted across all these platforms, I thought that it would either be a well-known usage problem or bug (even though my best efforts could find no mention of it).
    Thanks for your response.

  • Cell border with categories not possible?

    Several tables in my worksheet. Those without categories... I can format cell borders. Those with categories, no way. Can't select cell borders or apply line effects to a manually-selected cell border. Is there a workaround?

    You are right. I also discoverd that .NET has an implementation for this. Well, I hate to resort to .NET but have no choice.

  • Smartforms - Is it possible to Customize Cell Border In Template in 4.6C

    Hi,
    In smartforms, i know that Customizing Cell border is possible with node type TEMPLATE in version 6.20
    Our system is 4.6C
    But there are many differences between 4.6C and 6.20 about SMARTFORMS.
    Is there a way to specify custom cell border without "Select Pattern" option with node type TEMPLATE in 4.6C
    thanks
    ibrahim

    Hi,
    As you identify there are some large differences between Smartforms in 4.6c and 6.20.  So there is no equivalent of the cell-specific borders in 4.6c

  • Selected Table Cell Border in 1.4.2

    Hi All!!
    I am facing a problem with JDK 1.4.2_01 & Windows L&F. I am unable to see the yellow border around the selected cell in JTable. Was working fine with 1.4.1_03.
    A bug with id: 4674205 was reported with 1.4.0 stating :
    " In the Windows Look and Feel, the selected cell in a JTree or JTable is framed with a yellow rectangle. To accurately match the real Windows UI, it should be a black and white dotted rectangle instead. (This was part of bug 4268204,which was marked fixed, but this part hasn't been fixed.) This behavior was fixed for JList, but not JTree or JTable. "
    Now it has been fixed and closed.
    May be they might have removed setting of yellow border for the selected cell to match with native windows UI.
    But selected cell border is very much necessary for my project. Can any one please suggest me a workaround.

    Hi Sai!
    Thanks for your reply. It will not be feasible in my application as it already has huge number of tables with some of them already having complex renderers and editors.
    I was looking at something which i can set globally so that it will reflect to all of the tables in the application in a particular L&F.
    I tried setting
    UIManager.getDefaults().put("Table.focusCellHighlightBorder",Color.yellow);
    and
    UIManager.put("Table.focusCellHighlightBorder",Color.yellow);
    But no luck.
    Any other inputs are most welcome.

  • Spread Sheet Couldn't be Imported, Spread Sheet couldn't be opened because it contains cells outside the boundaries of numbers. Has any one had this problem? It is an excel file that works fine on my mac.

    When I try to import an excell file to numbers on my ipad i get an error message that says it cannot import the file or open the file because it contains cells outside the boundry of numbers. Any one have this problem. it is only one file that i have this problem with and it is an important one. I have no problem working on it with my mac and my excell for mac.

    Number is limited to about 65000 cells so if your Excell spreadsheet is too large Numbers will choke.  This is definitely one of the weaknesses.  If you don't have Excel you can use LibreOffice which is free.

  • Is it possible to make a cell change colour of a period of time with rules?

    Hi NeoNapster,
    This may be a start. Conditional Highlighting of a cell that depends upon the values in other cells can be tricky, but we can work on that.

  • Display the background of table row alternatively and hiding cell border

    Hi all,
    I am trying to display the background of the table using different color alternative and at same time I need to hide the border of all cells.
    What I found in <af:table> is using bandingInterval="1" banding="row", but how can I set the background color? And how to hide the cell border?
    Or if there is a thing like row index so that I can mod it like rowIndex%2==0 in every column to determine the inlineStyle?
    Thanks.
    Shawn

    <af:table value="..." var="row" varStatus="status">
      <af:column inlineStyle="#{status.index % 2 > 0.5 ? 'border:none;' : ''}">
      </af:column>
    </af:table>For some reason, EL operation always seems to return a double, so the condition has to be defined with that in mind.

  • JTable cell border color

  • IPhoto suddenly wants to export only unedited photos now. Why do no crops or light/colour adjustments get saved?

    INTRO: I have used iPhoto for many years (since iPhoto 5 I believe). As a non-professional photographer, I have been very happy with the application, as it has let me do most operations I need: Photo organising, adjustments of light, levels, contrast, colour balance, straightening and crop. (I haven't even had the need for Photoshop Elements for several years.)
    I usually make some adjustments to each and every shot – some big and some small – before exporting as a high quality JPEG for uploading to Flickr or other places I use them.
    PROBLEM: I have recently upgraded to a new Mac and iPhoto '11, and have been using this version happily for about a month now. Earlier this week, straight out of the blue, iPhoto has decided "all by itself" to stop saving edited/adjusted/cropped JPEG exports of my Nikon RAW photos, and instead only saves the unedited version as a JPEG. None of my crops or light/colour adjustments get saved anymore! (I first noticed when a closely cropped shot came out uncropped, and a shot I'd converted to black/white came out in full colour.)
    (Strangely enough, it seems iPhoto treats "original JPEGs" differently, as shots from my non-RAW cameras get exported with my edits preserved.)
    Has anybody else experienced the above described problem with exporting photos? Is it a bug, or is it some setting somewhere that I am not aware of? If I can't resolve this issue, I will have to stop using iPhoto and find a new "photo lab" and establish a new workflow. I hope I don't have to.
    Best regards,
    Jørgen in Oslo, Norway

    Hi again, Terence, and again thanks for your advice.
    I tried the Rebuild Library operation during the weekend, but having some 160 GB (1400+ events and 20000+ photos from 2007–2011) in my main (corrupted) iPhoto library, the operation seemed like it would be taking the whole of Saturday and maybe Sunday as well. I started the rebuild in the morning, iPhoto Library Manager chewed its way slowly through my photos, but iPhoto kept crashing every once in a while (especially often if other applications were running at the same time). When it had been working for about six hours, the import part was finally finished, but the metadata rebuilding process looked like it would be taking hours still, and I really needed to get to work on some other things on the same machine. So unfortunately, I had to abort.
    Thus, on Sunday morning, I changed strategies: I decided to use iPhoto Library Manager to break off a smaller subset of my gargantuan problem library to a new library. I had already made a full manual backup of the corrupted Library to a USB external hard drive beforehand (and I also have continuous Time Machine backups), so I am pretty lax with "destructive" stuff right now, as long as they can fix my problem. This is how I'm working now:
    I created a completely fresh and empty iPhoto library, and used iPhoto Library Manager to move a handful of recent iPhoto events from the corrupted library. I have now tried some edits and exports, and the new library is behaving healthy at the moment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed – if things work as good as they seem in the days to come, I will split up my entire, corrupted 2007–2011 library into separate sets. (Maybe one or two for each year.)
    And in the future, I have decided to make a new iPhoto library every 1st January and 1st July.

  • Border colour of Free Text Annotaion

    Hi
    I'm using the SDK to Acrobat 9.1 pro, writing a plugin in c++. I wish to change the colour of the border of a free text annotation. I've tried a couple of techniques but they only result in changing the fill colour of the annotation:
    PDColorValueRec colourRed;
    memset(&colourRed, 0x00, sizeof(colourRed));
    colourRed.space = PDDeviceRGB;
    colourRed.value[0] = fixedOne;
    colourRed.value[1] = fixedZero;
    colourRed.value[2] = fixedZero;
    PDAnnotSetColor(annot, &colourRed);
    CosObj arrayObj, floatObj;
    arrayObj = CosNewArray(cDoc, false, 3);
    CosArrayPut(arrayObj, 0, CosNewFloat(cDoc, false, 1));
    CosArrayPut(arrayObj, 1, CosNewFloat(cDoc, false, 0));
    CosArrayPut(arrayObj, 2, CosNewFloat(cDoc, false, 0));
    CosDictPutKeyString(annot, "C", arrayObj);
    I've scanned the section in the PDF specification regarding annotation dictionaries, and it seems the C key only governs the colour of the border when the annotation is a Link annotation, and I can't find any other way of defining the border colour. Yet I can still change the colour of the border using Acrobat, which leads me to believe that it's done in a non-standard but nonetheless valid way. The BS (borderstyle) key defines the style of the border but maked no mention of the colour of the border.
    Am I trying to do the impossible?

    Thanks Irosenth, that worked for me. I was adding a DS key to style the rich text contents, but it seems I also need to specify the DA key in order to change the border colour. For those interested, the string "1 0 0 rg /Helv 12 Tf" gave me the plain red border I was after.
    Andrew.
