Cell Borders

I built a site www.centralcitydance.com in DW CS3 and used
CSS for cell borders. They work great in Safari, but do not display
correctly in IE. any suggestions

On what page are the borders? I see no borders on the
homepage - the URL
you provided.
For starters - you may want to fix the 70+ validation errors:

    Hi Maura,
    Nice site and great art!

  • How to create cell borders in Numbers?

Trying to create viewable and printable cell borders in a Numbers spreadsheet. Is it possible for Apple to make this simple process any LESS intuitive? These guys are trying to push me back to Excel even tho I hate Microsoft which uses an incredibly simple method for this. I'm sure it's easy with Numbers too. Maybe I need another coffee. Help please.

    Hi Joe,
    1. Correct. I don't see that as a major issue, but you might want to request an 'All Borders option be added to the menu to reduce this to a one step process. The route to send that request directly to Apple is via Provide Numbers Feedback, found in the Numbers menu of numbers '09 (and in the application menu of all or most current Apple applications).
    2. You asked:
"Not to belabor this but I see "Allow/Disallow" Border Selection in the dropdown. Not sure what that is all about."
Something I hadn't tried before in Numbers, but it turned out to be pretty 'intuitive.'
Selecting Allow Border Selection let me select these borders (on the table shown previously) with three clicks (with the addition of a modifier key on the second and third):
Click on the border between C2 and D2. Alll of the border between columns C and D is selected.
Command-click on the border between C7 and C8. All of the border between rows 7 and 8 is selected.
Command-click on the (selected border) between D7 and D8. The segment is removed from the selection.
Now that was 'incredibly easy' and 'intuitive' to me for the reason suggested in my earlier post—although I hadn't previously tried this in Numbers, the behaviour is similar to what I had experienced previously in Pages (and even earlier, if memory serves, in AppleWorks).
After making the selection, I applied an action: set the selected borders to a solid green line, 4 points wide:

  • Can't get cell borders to work

I'm new Mac user...and I'm having a terrible time working with some spreadsheets that I created in Excel and saved as .numbers docs.
My current problem is: I can't get cell borders to work. I had an existing Excel spreadsheet and when I saved it as a num.doc, I lost my column headers. I selected table columns for 3 columns. When I did this I lost the existing cell borders. Now when I try to put them back, they appear while I am in the selected rows, so it looks like it worked, but then when I click another cell, the borders all disappear.
    Can anyone help me out?
Right now I really miss my PC
People keep telling me I'll love my MAC one day, but I'm still waiting...

Microsoft Office is available for Macs. That might be one solution to your problem and might make this switch from PC to Mac a little easier for you.
Conversions from one format to another are often not perfect. Numbers and Excel are sufficiently different that you might spend considerable time redesigning an imported Excel spreadsheet to make it look and print as you would like it to in Numbers. With regards to borders, it is possible you are not following the proper steps to create borders. There is definitely a learning curve going from Excel to Numbers. Have you downloaded and read the Numbers Users Manual that is available in the Help menu?

  • Cell borders not expanding using nested subforms

I have an existing form whose table was created using subforms (not a table object). I found this post which addresses my issue: Cell Borders in tables of adobe form. However, I'm still having an issue and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
The subform 'ITEM' contains 12 columns. I wrapped column 12 into a subform and named it Subform12. I then wrapped column 11 and Subform12 into a subform and called it Subform11. I continued to do this for the remaining 10 columns. I removed the borders for each individual column and instead set the border for each SubformXX. I also selected 'Auto-Fit' for the height for each SubformXX. The sixth column is the column that can contain multiple lines of text. After doing this the first 6 columns expand correctly, however, the last 6 do not.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing?
    Thanks!
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
Can't you just do the following:
For the first cell (the one with the large amount of text), you but on the right border
You take this cell together with the next one and put it into a flowed subform with the right border
Then you take this subform together with the next one:
    Repeat number 3:

  • How to turn table cell borders on

No matter what I do, certain cell borders are turned off and they have different thicknesses. I want all borders of all cells in all tables in the page always turned on. I can't see any way to do this in CS6, the border button has disappeared. If it helps the cells can span multiple columns and/or rows.  I don't see any difference in the source code for old tables created in a previous version and new tables.

    CSS code:
    table td {
    border: 1px solid #CCC;  /**adjust values as desired**/

  • Website shows all the cells borders on ipad. Please help!

    Hi Guys,
    I am a new member.
I just realized that only on ipads and iphones, my website www.carmenguedez.com shows all the cell borders.   Every page has a table defined in HTML/CSS and the borders are hidden in all browsers viewed from PC's. How can I fix it?
My husband and I created my website from scratch using dreamweaver and reading online tutorials, etc. We are not experts in web development and I couldn't find an answer online.
How can I hide these cells borders?
    Please help!
    Thank you,
    Carmen

I found the solution to my problem. I just nedded to add the bg color to my table:
    <table width="831" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="Table_Border">
    I changed to: <table width="831" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="Table_Border" bgcolor="#35281c">
Now, the table borders don't show on ipads.

  • IPhone Safari shows cell borders on my website homepage.

Hi, I design my own website in Dreamweaver (dw) CS3 and I've already posted this in the DW forum because I certainly allow that this is possibly due to my lackluster knowledge of CSS.
iPhone's Safari shows all the cell borders of a table that is part of my homepage design. See http://www.frankbright.com/index3.htm
But the thing is, ONLY the iPhone shows the cell borders of my homepage. I've tested this page with Windows Vista (IE on a laptop), Linux (firefox), and Mac (Safari on an iMac) browsers. NONE of them show the cell borders. Only the iPhone does.
So I thought I'd try this forum. Is there a setting I should know about? I appreciate any help on this.
    Many Thanks, Frank B.

  • Problems with vertical cell borders and the default table style

When laying out tables in Word, I like to use thin horizontal lines (cell borders) and thick-ish white vertical lines. The vertical white cell borders create a subtle negative space that is less cluttered than the typical boxed-in-all-sides style.
    Issue 1.
In Pages, horizontal cell borders seem to take precedence over vertical cell borders so my vertical white line trick doesn't work. Is there a way to force my vertical white cell borders to "show up" over my think black horizontal cell borders?
    Issue 2.
So, for the time being, I'm not using vertical white cell borders in tables; instead, I set the vertical cell borders to "none." Unfortunately, when I try to set the default table style using a table with no vertical cell borders, Pages adds the vertical cell borders anyway. Does anyone know a way to get Pages to surrender?

I checked and here, aftere defining a new default format with vertical lines set to none, this format is used when I cvreate a new table.
But the same with horizontal lines doesn't apply.
_Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'10

  • Print cell borders- Numbers

I just started using the latest version of Numbers on Macbook Pro. I want borders printed around selected cells for ease of reading. I have tried suggestions found in help forum but NO borders print and do not appear in print view. I have tried on the toolbar and using the inspector. Help.

    Hi Daylene,
Is this the effect you're looking for? The image is of the top left quarter of the screen.  The Numbers document has a single Sheet, containing a single 4 column by 10 row Table. The visible data are cell addresses of cells in the table. Cells whose address is not shown are empty.
The view below is of the same document, but with one of the table cells (B7) selected, making the table Active. Active tables show their cell grid, and show the column and row Reference tabs.
The example started with a Plain style table no Header rows or columns). Cell borders were set in a few steps:
    Select the whole table
    Open the Table Inspector
Click the 'outside borders' button (highlighted) in the Cell Borders section.
Set the stroke thickness to None.
Click the 'inside borders' button (immediately left of the highlighted one above)
Set the stroke thickness to None.
Apple delivers a couple of excellent resources with the iWork applications—download links for each application's User Guide and for the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide.
You'll find the link for the Numbers '09 User Guide in the Help menu in Numbers.
A search on 'cell border' should take you to an appropriate page, containing the article referenced in my reply above.
Reading the first few chapters of the Numbers '09 User Guide will also introduce you to Header Rows, Header Columns and Footer columns, the first two of which are likely what you're referring to as "the side and top bars." Cells in these rows have useful properties not shared with the 'regular' cells in the body of a table. You can have a 'plain' table without these rows (eg. the one in my example above).

  • Table cell Borders not appearing

I am creating a basic table style. I want a header row that
has shading, with headings in bold and centered. When I create a
table style, this is no problem to set up.
I want the rows underneath the header to all have plain black
1-pixel vertical and horizontal borders. When I edit the table
style, it lets me have vertical or horizontal borders, but not
both. If I select to have horizontal, it puts them in. Then if I
select vertical, it removes the horizontal. When I click on Whole
Table, it doesn't change. It doesn't apply the borders to all the
    cells.
I appreciate any help anyone can give me!
    Thanks,
    Kathleen Baine

    This process is not intuitive.
Try this to understand how it works.
With Apply formatting to: Whole Table, change the border
    colour to red.
You will see just the border for the Whole Table change, that
    is the outer border.
Without exiting the editor, change "Apply formatting to" even
rows. Note the colour picker will change and so will the border
size in the Border controls. Change that to what you red and 1px as
well, now do that for for odd rows.
I think by now you will be getting the hang of it.
Post back if still in trouble.

  • Setting Cell Borders

I want to be able to set the borders of a cell in Numbers 09 individually. Having chosen one selection, say a left border and set it; if I then select the right border to set it the setting of the left border is removed which is most frustrating. Is there any way of overcoming this restriction. By the way this is one thing than Excel (I'll wash my mouth out out as soon as I've logged out!) does very easily.

    Jimay wrote:
I think I've got it at last but it does seem back to front. I think that it would be much better if you could set the border properties (line width, line type and colour) and then select the cells and click on the borders which you want to have the set properties
Goes directly against the grain of the usual grammar: Select, then perform action on the selection.
    Think of the Copy process:
Select an object (or a block of text, then Copy.
Select a location to place the copied object/text, then Paste.

  • Changing cell borders in tables in Buzzword

I am considering using Buzzword with my clients but I need to import documents with tables.  The tables in my Word documents (containing case headings in legal cases) do not have borders.  When I import them into buzzword, all of the cells have black borders.  Unacceptable.  Is there a feature where you can set the borders on tables?  If not Adobe very much needs to include it. Thanks.

    Hello,
Although the borders appear upon the initial import, you should be able to remove them. Put the insertion point anywhere in the table, select the Tables tab, and then choose the None option from the the Gridlines Color control:

  • Cell borders confusion

I would like to put boundaries or lines around cells in my table. Apparently, I can choose lines between the cells, or around the table, but not both. This is incredible! When I do one, the other is undone. There is no way to get the obvious combination of lines between cells, and a nice boundary around a whole table.
I also keep getting double-lines, when I want simple, single lines. The box for selecting this does not seem to be working.
Help! (Because the Help does not explain how to do this very simple task, and it is too late to drive all the way back to the Apple Store to ask someone.)

Thanks, Mark. Now we have something. One goes to the little symbols on the program's menu bar (the fourth collection of buttons reading from the left). (The buttons are all unlabeled, and not even identified in the instruction book which comes with the program!) Select your table, then use the first button to select the outside outline, the next button to select style, the third to select thinkness, and the fourth to select color. Then (important) one must hit Enter in order to apply the selection. (If you don't, nothing will be accomplished.) Then do the same thing for the boundaries of the inner cells of the table.
Maybe this is simple, but unless it is explained somewhere, one must discover on one's own, or by consultation. It is not nice when you are home on Labor Day weekend trying to get something ready for presentation on Tuesday morning.
