  • Cell definition in BEx query processed in WEBI?

    Hello,
We have defined cell definition in Business Explorer query. This query is processed by WEBI. My Querstion is: Does WEBI consider the cell definition from BEx Query?
    Thx for answer.

    Problem solved

  • Division in bex query designer

    Hi experts,
I have a strange problem in bex query designer. I am trying to calculate margin in % but the calculation gives the wrong result.
The two figures I try to calculate are -25124 and -91248 (figures in 1000 NOK)
The result should be (-25124/-91248)100 = 27,53* (when formula entered in excel)
I have tried the following in Bex query designer
    -25124 %A -91248 = -0,02753%
    (-25124/-91248)*100 = 0,02753
What might be the problem here?

    Thanks again for your answer,
I will try to explain my report (requirement from the business user)
    Actual (KF)----
    Budget (KF)
    Sales-- -91248--
    -77153
    FSP-- -25124--
    -18918
    Margin  % -
    (FSP Actual/Sales Actual) 100---(FSP Budget/Sales Budget)100
    Dim
    Dim
    Result
The margin is calculated in the cells in the bex query designer to differentiate between actual and budget. There is no option to calculate the margin in the columns as this would influence all other rows aswell.

  • Using Bex Query with cell definition with WEBI

    Hi,
Currently I am using a Bex query as a datasource for a webi, normally this works ok but I am having trouble with one particular query.
This query has cell definitions defined in the query. When i import the query into WEBI I get an MDX error.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Flash

    Hi,
We do not see all elements of the BW query in the universe, just those not using cell definitions.
We are currently on Business objects XI 3.1
    Using BW 3.5
And the query runs fine using RSRT, it does show some asterix for some of the values but this can be removed by filtering on currency type in BW report
    Thank You,

  • BEx query - report with hierarchy, strcuture and cell

    SDN,
I need to create a report like -
                                  Profit center1     Profit Center2     PC3   PC4    PC5      ... till PC20
    Account
       001                            10                  20                  30      40       50     ...        100
       002                            10                 10                   10      10      10                 100
    North                             20                 30                   40      50      60                 200
On rows, I need various account with their hierarchy, I should be able to expand account hierarchy node when wants to see details.
in Column... I need various profit center (on header) and data filled with various revenue. so intersection of account and profir center - should be revenue in that acoount from profit center.
Revenue - is based on formula - Ned to define based account-profit center interaction using Cell edit.
In order to create cell - I need two structure, so account I am making part of structure.
trouble is - I am not able to expand account hierarchy?
If I do not make account as part of strcuture, I can not use cell concept. If include them in struc... can not expand/drill on them?
profit center can be expanded as it is outside structure (of key figure)
    what I am messing?

cell will only work for struc-struc intersection, we can not expand hierarchy obj defined within struc (confilct with cell static feature)...may be fix in fture release.

  • SAP BO WebI Report on top of BI Bex Query with Authorization Variable

    Hi,
We are trying to restrict row level data using BI 7.0 analysis authorization concept. We have an authorization variable in the Bex query and is working perfect in Bex Analyzer as well as in RSRT.
Now we are trying to achieve the same thing in BO webI. We created an Universe using Authentication Mode SSO. We are on BOXI 3.1 and implemented SSO. When we try to run the query in WebI we get the error
"A database error occured. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData..(WS 10901)"
Just for testing purpose, when we use query filter in WebI and use Values from List, it is showing only the authorized value it supposed to show and runs well with that value selected. But we have to achieve this without the query filter in WebI.
So are we missing some thing here or any patch issue? Please share if you have done this type of reports in BO.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Moorthy.

Yes I did run MDXTEST and it gives error as 'you do not have sufficient authorization'. The reason it is giving, I guess and we are debugging that to confirm, is first it looks for 0BI_ALL and throws error which is not the case in Bex. See the following trace in RSRT trace.
    InfoObject Properties Defined

  • BICS - Passing Mandatory Filter Variable value to a BEx Query

    Hi All,
I have similar problem as the below URL.
BICS - Passing variables to a BEx Query
    Details:
I have a mandatory filter - Display Currency in BEx query. I'm trying to input this mandatory filter from Xcelsius, (by mapping the filter value to a cell in Xcelsius spreadsheet).
However, when I lauch the dashvoard in IE page, it still throws an error:
" One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled"
    Does anyone face this issue?
    Regards,
    AK

    Hi Sriram,
I assume you are using SAP direct connectivity.
    >> Yes, it is direct connectivity to SAP-BW.
(And I'm publishing this dashboard in SAP-BW system itself.)
    1. What are all the Variables you get in intial variable screen?
because if you have a Mandatory variable in your Bex query, a intial variable screen will appear with all the variables.
    >> I'm testing the underlying BEx query, it has one mandatory variable for "Display Currency". Other are optional variable-filters, so other filters are not a problem.
    2. when you get this error "One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled", just after the Launch or after the variable screen?
    >> I use the option in Xcelsius: SAP --> Launch -->  a new IE page opens, then I get this error
    3. However you can bye pass this screen only when you give default values to your mandatory variables.
    >> When I use personalization in BEx side, to input default value (e.g: USD), and then run this standard content dashboard, the hangs.(Do not see anything on IE page for long time. Though the data is very less-Few hundres rows)
So, I'm looking at passing the value from Xcelsius-spreadsheet, however, the dashboard is not picking up the value from the mapped-cell.
Hope this gives more clarity on the problem.
    Cheers,
    AK

  • BEX query runs using parameters entered by user in an Excel spreadsheet

I'm trying to write a macro to automate certain functions for our users.</br>
    </br>
Essentially, the users would enter numbers (relating to clients) in column A and e-mail adresses in column B.  A set of reports would run based on the first number entered, then the workbook would be saved and e-mailed to the first address in column B.  This would be repeated for the 2nd number/address and so on...  All Bex reports are in the same workbook.  At this point, I'm having a lot of problems finding code that will fill in the Bex query parameters automatically based on inputs in the spreadsheet.  Here is what I've worked up so far for the macro:</br>

'Macro step 1 u2013 run workbook for client number input and continue</br>

'All BW queries should run based on the input given in column A (beginning wth A3).</br>
    </br>
    </br>
'Macro step 2 u2013 create directory for the new files and save the first file</br>
'     This step will allow the user to save the new files in a new folder in an existing directory, or even to create a new directory:</br>
    </br>
    Function GetFolderPath() As String</br>
        Dim oShell As Object</br>
        Set oShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application"). _</br>

        Else</br>
            GetFolderPath = vbNullString</br>

  • How to add "%" symobl in Bex query?

    Hello All,
In a Bex query, there is one structure with 3 elements as Rows. I have to show the resultant values in a specified format...
in the first row, the values are to be suffixed with character "K" and the remaining 2 rows values are suffixed with "%". I will use this query in a webtemplate. Is there any funcationality in Bex to perform my requirement?
    Regards,
    Ravi

This can be done using the table interface for web applications. Using this you will be able to manipulate the cells in a web report.
See the attached documentation on this.

  • Keyfigure has value in BEx query, but shows zero/0 in Webi

    Hi community,
I have the following issue with a Bex query with 2 structures:
in Bex, the budget column shows figures right. but in Webi, it shows zero for certain profit KPIs (calc. keyfigures, CKFs).
only for these KPI cells, it is not a general issue with that budget column!
in the Bex cell editor, I have created cell references for these profit KPI cells, but that should not be relevant.
As SAP cannot connect to our BO Webi via OSS properly, I would like to address you.
anyone had a similar situation or solution?
every hint is appreciated! Many thanks and
    best,
    Phil

    Hi Ingo
I am also currently meeting such a problem.
I have Cubic Meter stored in my cube and my BEx query. Also, in my BEx query, I have a unit conversion to convert Cubic Meter to Cubic Feet.
In WebI, when I pull out both Cubic Meter and Cubic Feet, Cubic meter returns me 0, while cubic feet returns me a figure.
Below are the settings of the BW & BOBJ system:
    SAP BW SP6
    BOBJ SP2 FP2.3
Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks!

  • How to set a BEx Query Condition in Design Studio (e.g. Net value GT 0)

    Hi experts,
I have set a simple condition in my BEx Query...
e.g. key figure "Net value" GT 0 to become only positive values in the query result.
In the Query runtime the condition works successful, but in the Design Sudio view the defined Query condition doesn´t work.
In my Design Studio crosstab I have tried to switch between the display setting "Conditional formating Visible" true/false, but without success.
By the way, before I have posted this thread, I had a look at this two blogs...
Design Studio 1.0: Create a Scorecard Using SAP BW BEx Query Exceptions
    Design Studio 1.2  - a Second Look
    Any ideas or experiences?
    Thanks and regards,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
I think you are mixing up two different BEx terms. Conditions are filters on key figures (show me only the results with a value bigger than 50). Exceptions do not filter the result set, but provide a formatting based on the values in the result set (if value is bigger than 50, make its cell red).
The Conditional formatting setting in Design Studio refers to the BEx exceptions. For the BEx conditions there isn't such a setting available. You just have to activate the condition in your BEx Query and use that for your data source in Design Studio.
If you want a workaround to enable/disable conditions from Design Studio, check this blog I wrote: HackingSAP.com - SAP Design Studio and Conditions It shows how you can use variables to adjust the conditions (and also activate) from within Design Studio.
    Cheers,
    Xavier

  • BEx Query Columns come back in different Order after drill?

I have a strange effect when I work with BEx Queries in Xcelsius.
On default, I open and display the Bex Query "A". Columns are in order like defined in BEx Designer (Column1, Column2, Column3.....)
I want to do a drill, and so in Xcelsius BEx Connection settings I set the Filter on Field "X" in the XLS and in "Query Usage" I addionally apply the setting "Refresh when Trigger Cell "X" changes".
Starting the report works fine. But when I do the drill and the Query refreshes, the BEx Query Columns come back in different order?!?
It looks as if Column 2 and Column 3 are exchanged.
    How can I fix that?
    Thx,
    B. Wegner

    After some testing....
This issue is independent from the filter value. But it only seems to occure when a second BEx Query connection is defined.
The BEx Query Data Columns come back in different order after
    - Refresh on Trigger
    - Refresh after XY Seconds
    Any Ideas?

  • Count and Percentile calculations for various Lines in BEx Query.

    Dear Experts
I working on a BEx Query at the moment and the output is required in the format below:
This and another report (which will be displayed above this report) will go into a WAD eventually.
I have Key Figure for 'Document Count' but not sure how to get the percentage displayed in the second line and also for the Top 3 Reason Codes (not having anything displayed across 'Top 3 Reason Codes' though). I have tried Selection and other ways but nothing worked so far.
Do I have to use Cell Editing by any chance or is there a way to work-around this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Chandu

You can achieve your report format by creating a Structure in rows with Cell definitions. Define each cell in COunt Document KF according to the row logic.

  • Taking display value for calculations using structures in Bex query

    Hi
I am using Bex analyzer to do a simple report with two key figures ‘Sales’ and ‘Plans’ from cube and two more calculated key figures ‘Abs Deviation’ and ‘% error’. The report displays at category and product levels. Category is higher and one category contains multiple products.
The simple formulas for the two calculated KF are,
    1. Abs Deviation = Abs (Sales – Plans).
Abs Deviation is set with the property Calculate result as ‘summation’ to add up Abs deviations at product level to show at Category level.
    2. % Error = Abs Deviation / Plan.
The issue is with the % Error value at category level. At product level, all the values are showing correctly.
To illustrate the issue with a simple test case,
    CategryProductSale-PlanAbs Dev----%Error
    C1--P1--100-60---40--
    67%
    C1--P2---50120---70--
    58%
    C1 Total--150180---110--
    17%
Observe that in the output the calculation for ‘%Error’ at product level is correct all the way. But the summary
calculation for ‘Error%’ i.e. C1 total which is showing as 17% is wrong. The correct value as per the formula should be 110/180 = 61%.
SAP, through OSS replied that it is not a bug but the default behavior of OLAP calculation. OLAP processor first calculates the formula for % Error and then shows the display value at C1 total for Abs Dev. Meaning, ‘% Error’ is calculated first and next the summation for Abs dev is displayed. Abs dev 110 at C1 level is only a display value but not the value taken for % Error at C1 level. Instead OLAP calculates the Abs Dev at C1 level by Total sale – Total plan = 180 – 150 = 30 and the % Error calculation takes this 30 value in the formula and gives % Error = 30/180 * 100 = 17% at C1 level. But 17% doesn't make any sense to the user. Further, to display value of 61% at % Error at C1, it is being advised that by defining two structures, I can force the calculation to take display value of 110 in the % Error calculation at C1 level by using the cell editor.
Has any body tried to achieve similar result as above by defining two structures and cell editor in the query? If so, can you please throw some pointers of how to define two structures in a query and how to force the % Error at category level to take the display value of 110 in the calculation? I have gone through the documentaion on structures and cell editor but the approach is not at all clear.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  • Bex query in Xcelsius

    Dear Xcelsius Experts,
Im having a trouble about displaying bex query data on xcelsius.
After adding a new connection i browsed my query then selected insert in area on excel.
I can see my kef figures on preview tab.On the usage tab refresh on load and use query data options are already checked.
Im also sure about my selectors (list box, combobox etc) data insertation done correctly.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Nil
    p.s:im using Xcelcius sp2

    Dear Nil,
If you pull the data from SAP BW using "SAP Netweaver BI connection",the whole set of data from SAP BW Query will be available through Cross Tab Data under "Output values" of "Definition" tab.So just Put one Spread sheet table or List View
item in the Workspace and simply map the Cross tab data into some Excel cells range and then map the same range of Excel cells into the Design component(Spread sheet table or List View). This will show the complete data (chars and KFs) which comes from SAP BW Query into the design component at runtime.
    Hope this helps you!
