Cell Info Display option in iPhone

Hi, I am using iPhone 5. I need to know that 'do we have an option to Display Cell Info like we do have in Nokia handsets'. This will display the real time tower location info on the screen. This information should be displayed everytime handsoff occurs and this should work without opening any external installed app. Thanks.

Thank you it_is_me!
What you had written is correct, when selected GSM only it displays the cell info.
However, in Sri Lanka, where I live, the operators are using GSM and UMTS in a complementary fashion that when you put on to dual mode the coverage is high.
I am subscribing to two operators, Dialog and Mobitel. In the Dialog network even if you put to dual mode it displays the cell info. This happenedwith Mobitel network only.
Anyway, thank you very much for the information.
You are welcome , also bear in mind that cell info display that can be activated in E71 is not only 3G , it's 3.5G and this could make difference when it comes to network services .

  • Cell Info Display Problem

Past 2 days , my Nokia N71 cell info display gets stuck only showing one area or doesn't show at all, even though moving to another area doesn't change. To update cell info display i need to restart my phone or i need to go settings then i select cell info display then change to off then again on. But i have also Nokia 5700 XM but it doesn't face the same problem and it is also subscribed to same network as n71.
    my N71 fimware is V 2.0642.1.05
Please someone give the solution to the problem.
    Best Regards

    Hi Yogeshwar,
The Cell info display now a days displays only some Offers that are dished out by the Operator. Once upon a time it was showing the AREA where you are but thats no more there I think. Not atleast on the Vodafone network in India. And its the same on all handsets, not only Nokia X1-01. Recently I had contacted Vodafone in this regard and was told that the duration for which the info is flashed can not be increased.
As for the signal problem hope that the Antenna is not covered by any other object.. Refer Pg.No. 7 of the User_Guide ...Else you may have to get the phone inspected by Nokia Care...

  • Cell info display on Nokia 701

Hi every body, My Nokia 701 is not displaying cell info i.e name of area or name of tower covering my phone even though I set info display to on in pull down notification menu right from time of purchase. Is this problem specific to my phone. My old phone Nokia X3-00 was showing cell info with 2G sim. Now I am having 3G sim inserted into my phone 701. But cell info display is off either with 2G or 3G coverage.

I jsut checked it on my c3 00 with vodafone and it started showing some special offers on home screen.
But I tried the same on my 701 with aircel and it doesn't show any of that.

  • Using Cell Info Display in MIDlets

How can I access the " Cell Info Display " provided by GSM service provider from our MIDlets to get some location idea from Nokia Series 40 or 60 Mobile Handsets ?
Without using Locational API's, is their any Native mathods aceesable for this, provided by any Nokia ?

Well, that's a very popular question.
What i have found until today is summarized below.
1-) No, there are no methods for getting Cell ID or Local Area Network. Most provider's don't provide it (intentionally). Some Motorola phones accept a call like System.getProperty("phone.cid") or System.getProperty("Siemens.CID")
2-) I suggest you use C++ if your phone supports symbian. There is not a standar way, but using etelcom Apis you can get the Network information.
Look for more details on official nokia forums.
3-) Good luck, and tell me if you could manage to finish your app.

  • Cell Broadcast / Cell Info Display is not static i...

    Good Afternoon,
I come by this means can try to explain how a situation that saw the Nokias 6210 Navigator.
A customer information to activate the cell and the cell to receive the information by the same operator appears next to the hours over the name of the profile but is not static, or appears and disappears immediately.
In other Nokias I have checked the information of the cell is always static display of the phone does not disappear. I wonder how can get this information to Nokia to the next versions of firmware updates to correct this situation, there are customers who use certain services of the operators such as the case of TMN TMN that has regional and customer needs to see what indicative of the area where you are and thus becomes complicated because you do not see the same information by not being static.
Can perform this experiment with a Nokia 6210 Navigator and a Nokia E65 or 6630 and others in which information is fixed.
It was with considerable difficulties in Spain which could capture information of the cell with Nokia 6210 Navigator, and therefore opted to take pictures with a nokia 6630 and N-Gage.
No other matter of time, support me with high esteem and consideration
    Carefully
    Examples:
    Nokia 6630
    Nokia 6210 Navigator

If it helps, it may be whether operators actually support it, as my nokia x6 from vodafone use to display it but as soon as I unlocked it and siwtched to T Mobile it's stopped. I have now just switched it onto gsm connection only and it doesn't work so it could well be operator support dependent

  • N 73 ME - cell information display

    Dear Sirs
I have N73 ME for two days and I am very satisfied with it.
The product code is 0544952 and I have updated fw from this site to the official version(V 4.0796.3.2.1.).
I have problem with "cell info display" because it is turned on in settings (tools-settings-phone-network) but I can never see that information on display.
Is this "normal" or something else I have to do to obtain this?
    Please advice what to do.
    With best regards,
    Bane

    Hi Bane
Go to menu, tools, settings, network, network mode.
Dual mode: phone switches seamlesly between 3G/2G networks as per the availability in your location.
UMTS: Phone only operates in 3G mode. ie if you fall out of 3G coverage the phone will have no signal at all, not even froma 2G beacon.
GSM: Phone shuts down 3G completely and goes into a power saving 2G mode where signal will only be received in a 2G network environment. AS all cell towers started on the technology for 2G, you should never lose signal, have increased battery life, be able to view MCN and arguably better call quality.
Of course the latter would be your choice!

  • Nokia 5530 Cell Info - How to enable?

I travel alot and I  rely on Cell info to know the place where I am at that moment using my old Nokia phone(6021).
In my new Nokia 5530, I do not see any where to set the Cell Info.
Is it that I am looking at a different place or is there any other utility that gives the Cell Info?
FYI I have not enabled GPRS because I don't require it. I only want the Cell info.

Can't offer any advice on this because I have never tried it. As far as I am concerned Cell Info Display flashes on and off from time to time. For what it is worth, I don't think you can.

  • Getting cell info via a J2ME application

    Hi All,
I want to get the cell info i.e. Location String of the BTS, that gets displayed on the mobile phone. Is there any method by which I can get this information in to my J2ME application.
    Regards,
    Ashish

Just a guess, as I didn't try it yet. But I'm interested on the subject myself, and I think you need the Location API. Try googling for "j2me location api" or take a look at this:

  • Using Boxes or Compact display option in Messages

Is there a way to return to the Boxes display option in Messages under Mavericks? I was never a fan of the Balloons, which appears to be the only display option now.

    HI,
    Open a Finder window.
Go to the View Menu and chose View Options
In here chose to display the Modified column.
Now use the Go Menu and hold down the ALT key and select the Library that appears.
Now navigate to the Preferences folder
Find the com.apple.ichat.plist item and highlight it.
In a view that display the columns such as Cover Flow check the date (and possibly time) that the files was last Modified.
    Now open Messages.
If the setting in Mesaages > Preferences > Viewing have Changed again remake them to what you want.
Does the Modified column show the current time  that you do this ?
If it does not then you may not own the file or have Permission to write to it.
with the file still highlighted use the CMD and i keys together (Get Info)
In the panel that opens scroll to the bottom.
Your shortname should be lists with Read and Write permissions.
Also if you highlight your name and then use the cogwheel type icon it should have, in greyed out text as if already done, "Make yourShortname (me) the Owner"
If you have Read and Write Permissions and the "Make" item is greyed out then you Own the file and have the correct permissions.

  • Ios 6: Apps no longer displaying on my iPhone 4S

After downloading ios 6, I noticed that certain apps are no longer displayed on my iPhone 4S screen.  I had these apps grouped under 2 different folders and the folders plus the apps were removed from my screen.  I can view the apps under purchased but the only option it gives me is "open".  After I open, I can access the apps, but it does not install the app back on my screen.  It is frustrating because I do not get my notifications and I have to go to the app store to access my previously purchased apps.  Does anyone know how I can get these apps back on my screens?  Please help.  Thanks!

@Briantopp, THANKS so much... I feel a little silly, but am so happy that the solution was that simple.  Thank you so much for responding to my question.  I really appreciate it!!!!!

  • How to switch off 'Cell Info' in Lumia 925

I recently bought Lumia 925. I am getting constsnt messages pertaining to 'Cell Info'. They keep on appearing once in every few seconds & pile up in a huge number. You can not make a call unless you acknowledge all of them, which takes huge time, alternatively I have to switch the phone off & on & make a call after re-boot!!
I was using Nokia E 63 earlier. It had a setting facility for 'Cell Info' on or off. I do not find any setting facility for 'Cell Info' in Lumia 925.
Please guide me how to set the Cell Info off, or I will have to discard this Lumia 925

    Thanks everybody for the suggestions!
    a) I tried with SIM of other service provider : There were no troublesome flash messages. b) I contacted my service provider: Airtel: After trying for tremendous patience with support number 121, somehow I could convey the message about what was happening. My call was transferred to a senior person, who promised me that these 'Flash' messages would stop in half an hour. It did not happen. Once again through 121, once again the promises, nothing happens. I personally visited Airtel support centre. Again nothing happens. c) I tried my old E 63 & switched off Cell Info with the same SIM. I am not able to use Lumia 925 because of Flash messages accumulating every few seconds.
Conclusions: I have to change my service provider Or Phone Or Both. – Now I may go for the last option with frustrations.
