hi i have been programing apps in java for a little wile and was wondering how to make games for cell phone that are java enabled and how it would differ from normal desktop apps as there arent as many keys on a cell phone and the methods and classes i would need to extend and interfaces i would need to implement any help would be a greatful

but if you just use the email program build into osx on the macbook it does not support hotmail as exchange
in that case you should set it up there are pop3 and never to delete mails from the server
then it will not get mail pushed but it will work

Why does that matter?
AT&T iPads are not locked and therefore do not need a PUK. But since they are GSM based, they cannot be used on Verizon's network which is CDMA.

We were sold a GSP with an Iphone purchase last year - I pay $15+ a month for this plan and have already paid well over $200 to date. We had initially planned to get the insurance through our carrier ($6.99/mo) or an Apple plan, however this sales person talked us out of it telling us with those plans if you needed a repair you'd have to pay a deductible and other fees and with the GSP you could basically walk right of the store at that moment throw the phone into a puddle and smash it, come right back into the store and you would be give a NEW, NOT REFURBISHED, phone for free - no questions asked. Sounded like a no-brainer! My daughter's phone stopped working a week ago, she brought it to the store they assessed and told her they would order her a new phone. She picked up the "new" phone a few days later. When she picked up the phone she was told that they were having "wifi issues" and could not restore her back up onto her new phone that she would have to go home and do it herself. She went home and began the process and kept getting error messages; she called the Geek Squad at the store and explained what was going on; they told her they could not help her and that she would need to call Apple. She called Apple who initially did not want to help her as she did not have the Apple plan, but I guess felt sorry for her after hearing about Best Best Buy and decided to help her. As they talked her through the process, her "new phone" kept powering off. After it happening several times Apple told her that she had a defective phone and that she should bring it back to Best Buy. She did this yesterday morning. The Geek Squad checked the phone and told her it was fine. She explained that it keeps powering it self off randomly and they told her they would have to see the phone do it. She also asked to speak to a store manager to explain her dissatisfaction and tell them she just wanted a new phone like she was promised when we took out the insurance - this man was rude and refused to help her. He told her to go home and call 1-888-BestBuy. As the phone and the plan are actually in my name (her mother) I took over and called - the technician I spoke with on the phone - knew immediately that it was a power problem with the phone and that it needed to be replaced. He explained that sometimes the Techs that work in the store really don't have enough training and don't understand that certain issues don't show up on diagnostic tests. He apologized for the rude treatment that my daughter received at the store by the Geek Squad and the store manager and he would call the store to let them know we were bringing the phone back and they needed to get a replacement. At that moment things were fine. He then transferred me to the store and the Geek Squad who informed me that they would not give us a new phone - it would be another refurbished phone. So, after work today my husband and I headed back to Best Buy for yet another battle - that is if as Johnny from the Geek Squad put it - "they could squeeze us in" - they might not be able to talk to us without an appointment. This is for a phone exchange - not brain surgery. Best Buy is the worst store when it comes to customer service, and gross misrepresentations. I would never, every make a purchase from this store again and will tell everyone I know to stay away as well. I'm sure that this is not the end of our story - we already know that we will leave the store later completely dissatisfied and that the employees at Best Buy/Geek Squad will NOT handle this in an intelligent professional manner.

Online Games and Java

Hi. I'm running a 2Ghz Macbook with OSX 10.5.2 and I can't seem to play any games online and the sites always say that java isn't compatible.
The site's I'm trying to play games on are www.playandwin.co.uk and also yahoo games. I've tried with both safari and firebox and same error everytime.
When checking java in the application part of finder, it says i've got J2SE 5.0 and 1.4.2 and i've tried both but still nothing. Any ideas or suggestions ? I've tempted to install windows but really don't want to go to that extreme if possible but really want to play the games.

Interesting fix. Being new to Macs I am not sure how that happened to you. I checked my Safari's info and Open with Rosetta was already unchecked. It's not that I cannot completely play Java games on Pogo, but if the game window does not crash, the game table will be blank and the chat text area will be shown, or the chat text area will be blank while the game table shows up.
It is frustrating. Still, I think it is more to do with the developers and web designers than with our out of the box settings. In comparison, the majority of Windows PC's can play games on Pogo, Yahoo, MSN, etc., without much more than downloading and install ActiveX.
If a Windows PC and a Mac both have the same version of Java installed, and all required platform updates are installed, respectively, what common sense reasoning would be behind the conflict that either platform would have with interacting with a Java based online gaming site?
The coders do not write for the lesser number of site traffic. Hard to swallow, but it is my honest opinion. Still, I gave up frustrations I could count on when I shut down my PC for the last time and I do not intend to allow a lack of gaming to get me down as a new Mac user.

Cell phone emulator with java me platform sdk 3.0

Hi Everyone,
Having written a very simple application using ME software development kit, when ran the emulator prompts me to either INSTALL APPLICATION or MANAGE CERTIFICATE AUTHORITIES.
If INSTALL APPLICATION is selected I'm then prompted to ENTER A WEBSITE TO INSTALL FROM into a textbox. MANAGE CERTIFICATE AUTHORITIES presents some spurious code and I don't know what it means.
I don't know a great deel about computers, but looks to me like a random problem requiring a random solution - very frustrating! If anyone would like to help I'd be very grateful indeed.

Anyone able to get Pogo games to work with the latest JRE 7? If I downgrade to the previous version all is well, but I like running the bleeding edge stuff so any thoughts are welcome.

I live in Brazil and i was traveling to UK where i've decided to replace my iPhone 4s which had a sound issue . At this Apple Store in Westfiel in the same occasion i 've also decided to purchase two more devices: iPhone 5 with the following serial numbers: DXXXXXXXXXXX and FXXXXXXXXXXX I strongly explainned to the attender that i would like to have two unlocked devices since i live abroad but what a surprise when i came back to my country and try to activate those devices, they are locked by an UK carrier and also with a technology that is not used in my country. Some one can help me Please?

If I buy the "premium" plan with unlimited US and Canada calling I assume the calls must originate in Canada or the US and when I am in the UK i would have to buy skype time to originate the calls from the UK? correct?

Is there an easy way to toggle between an Apple ID and a cell phone number in Messages?

My son has an iPod but just a regular cell phone. We communicate a lot through texts/Messages but he doesn't always have a wifi connection on his iPod so sometimes, he is only reachable through his cell phone number and other times through his Apple ID. Is there an easy way to select which channel I want to contact him through on Messages?

On your Mac in Messages with his conversation in "focus" (the one selected) Click and hold his Name in the "to" Spot and the top right of the right hand pane where the conversation is.
This will become a Drop Down and show you the iMessages (and other accounts he might have) options.
In some cases they may not have been used before and may not have the indicator.
Example
NOTE.
Any phone number will be listed as a potential iMessages ID as well any emails.
In the above example I happen to know that both the emails are Apple IDs (What I don't know is if my wife as linked either to her iPhone Number)

I updated my iPhone 6 Plus (At&t) to 8.0.1 and lost all cell phone service and the touch id is not working.

the fix is to download and reinstall ios 8.0
