Cell Phone Got Wet

I accidentally left my Samsung Fascinate out on the patio last night and of course it rained.  I have a rubber cover on the back of the phone and a plastic screen protector on the front but I am just not sure how much water got in there.  Does anybody know how to dry out this Samsung Fascinate?
Any help would be appreciated

The old standby method is to remove the cover and battery, dry any visible water and place the phone and battery in a container of dry rice for a day of so. I've never done this so I don't know if it really works.
Along the same lines, my wife is into photography so she has numerous packets of silica gel around. Using this instead of rice should achieve the goal of absorbing the moisture.
Hope you get it to work OK. Just remember if the sticker under the battery has changed your warranty is toast.
I have done the same thing; Best way is pull the battery out, you can blow dry with hair dryer, then stick in a bag of rice and let sit for 72 hours...

So my phone got wet the other day. I dried it out completely, but the touch screen still isn't working. Is there anything I can do short of getting a new phone? Anything that can be done at the nearest Verizon store? I am one of three phones on our plan and I am trying not to need to get a new phone before our contract expires next month.

    Hello wetphone!
We're sorry to hear that your phone isn't working. It's very important to have a functioning touchscreen!  Let's explore your options OK? If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there.  Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.

  • My phone got wet and screen is black, please help?!!

My phone got wet and the screen turned black after a while, it is still on because I receive phone calls and can answer them by swiping the screen where I know to swipe. The phone rings and I can even have a conversation on it. The screen is black however, I cant see anything else or do anything else. I'm going to take the phone to apple tomorrow to see if its repairable. Any suggestions??? Its a 4s, have it for about 4-5 months...

    Try resetting the phone:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

my phone got wet a year ago and dried out...I was in fla on vacation and it died last week. what if anything can be done?  Only assuming the humidity caused the phone to be "wet" again.

The best you can do is a 149$ out of warrenty fee for the device to get it repaired.
Or throw it in rice for a day or two cross your fingers and pray to the Apple Gods that it comes back on

  • My phone got wet

Have you tried putting it in a bag of whole grain rice? Do that and let it sit for a week.

  • Phone got wet,now it's only showing the apple icon and sometimes connect to itunes

3gs phone got wet,now it's only showing the apple icon alternating with connect to itunes

You didn't connect it to your computer or to power, did you?
Wipe it down, put it in a baggie with raw rice or new silica gel packets and set it in a cool, dry area, like a cupboard. Leave it there for 3 - 4 days.
Take it out after this time, wipe it off, use a soft brush to wipe any rice dust from the dock connector, and connect it to your wall charger. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and then Reset it while it is connected to power. May take several tries. If it revives fully charge it.
If this does not work you can do an out-of-warranty replacement with Apple for $199 USD.

  • I accidentally left my phone unprotected during the rain. My phone got wet and when I got home the sound won't work and the next day it doesn't let me charge anymore. HELP!

I went out to join the amazing race challenge in my work. When we were almost to the end, the weather changed and it started raining. I put my phone my my backpack and got wet along with my other stuff. By the time I got home, there's no more sound and it keeps showing "SLIDE TO TURN OFF". Then the next day, I can't charge anymore.

You might consider a case like Otterbox or something similar for active events in outdoor use. They not only give good protection against drops but also protect from water. It's not meant to swim with take underwater pictures but really good for rain splatter or the situation you were in. Good luck.

  • My speakers are not working sometimes after my phone got wet in rain...

hi there please help me out i have been using iphone and my 4s got wet in rain and after that issue i got a problem that my speaker are not working for music and videos but my ringtone rings and i could hear my calls in loudspeaker and then after sometime it rectifies itself and becomes normal...... then again if i switch off and switch on i get the same problem ...... what should i do ??? is it a common problem ???? i have tried dock cleaning with qtip and kept in the rice bag........ does anyone know a solution for it???

No other way. They will probably want to swap the phone out for you for a fee of some sort of course.  I wouldn't suggest self repair because at this point you really don't know what the issue is.  Maybe its something to do with the speaker, or maybe the logic board is damaged.
If you think the phone might still be a little damp or wet inside, try putting it in a bowl of rice for a day.  The rice may be able to suck out the moisture which could possibly be causing an intermittent issue.

  • My phone got wet. what do I do?

dropped phone in water; getting temperature error message; any suggestions as to what to do?

Turn the phone off. Place it into a sealed bag of uncooked rice for 3-5 days. After that period see if it will work, however, if you have kept it powered on and trying to use it after it got wet, it is possible that you have already ruined the device and will need to replace it. As you have found, water and electronics do not mix. The warranty does not cover user damage. The out of warranty replacement cost for the iPhone 4s is $199US. Check for your location.

  • Phone got wet flashlight on

My husbands iPhone 4 got wet and the flashlight has been on since yesterday. We put it in rice overnightt and when we blew it with a hairdryer, the screen came on and we could get it to show to select to power down but it wouldn't actually power off. Now we have it over a fan

You should get a new battery and check again, I wouldn't risk it with that battery, with that said, there might be other issues aside the battery, perhaps the LCD, or the motherboard.

  • Phone got wet now wont work

Help, my i phone 4 got soaked in the rain and now will not start or respond in any way.

You find it odd that an electronic device got soaked and now does not work?
You should never try to turn on a wet device.
Let it dry for a week or so.
    It is likely dead.

  • Phone got wet

My iphone fell in the toilet ;(. it comes on, but i can't enter my password to get my info off the phone. is there anyother way to get my info off the phone? It turns on but the touch screen does not work. Any recomendations??
    thanks

Not updated to iCloud or backed up to your computer?
Did this just happen? The worst thing you can do is turn on a wet phone.  Who knows what is shorting out inside.  Some people try the bag of rice trick (I'll let you do a web search for that) with varying degrees of success.

  • My phone got wet and wont turn on. Is there anyway to get it repaired and get the pictures off of it?

What options do I have to save my phone?

Well, since you tried to turn it on while wet the chances of recovering anything have just been reduced. But try putting it in a plastic bag with uncooked rice for several days to draw the moisture out of it. You may then be able to restore it or turn it on. If you've been syncing regularly, backing up to your computer or iCloud, or have enabled Photo Stream your pictures are safe. If you have done none of these things they are lost unless the phone recovers after drying out.

  • 3GS phone got wet

I dropped my 3GS phone in the sink. It was fully submerged and now it is not working. I recently purchased the phone last week. What do you recommend?

Put it a jar of dry rice for a few days until it's fully dried out.  DON'T turn it on until then.  If it's still not working, you're going to have to pay the 199.00 USD for an out-of-warranty replacement.
