Cellular air card

Can i use a linksys router to have more than one computer access the internet through a cellular air card? I know linksys makes one for the Sprint air card, but i have a Verizon USB air card? What router will work for me?

  • I am getting the message "the disc you inserted was not readable by this computer" when I plug in a verizon air card into my macbook air.  It also does not show up as a device on my desktop.  However, I select "ignore" and am still able to connect.

Whenever I insert my verizon air card into my MBA, I get the message "the disc you inserted was not readable by the computer", with the option to either ignore or eject.  I select ignore, and am able to connect to the internet, but don't know why this happens.  Also, the air card is not showing up as a peripheral on my desk top.  Any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix it?

When I unplugged (power) and plugged in again to restart it, yes, I heard it spin and click. Not since then though. I assumed it went to sleep and since the computers don't recognize it they won't wake it.
If I need to replace it can the data on it be recovered?

  • Connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to air card

How do you connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to Verizon Air Card?

Sorry, but the Air Card cannot be used with the USB port on the AirPort Extreme because that port will only work with a hard drive and/or a printer.
Suggest that you check with Verizon to see if they have an adapter or wireless router for the Air Card that will provide an Ethernet signal to the AirPort Extreme.

  • BM VPN causing dial-up connections to disappear - Air Card

I'm having an issue with BM VPN. I have an end user on an XP laptop who needs to connect via BM VPN using his Verizon Wireless Broadband Air Card. The Broadband Cards are always listed under Dial-Up Connections in Network Connections, but after installing BM VPN, the dial-up connections are no longer there and if I try to manually create a connection, it is greyed out. Also, to no avail, the following services in XP are not turned on and for the life of me I cannot get them to start:
    Remote Accesss Auto Connection Manager
    Remote Accesss Connection Manager
From what I've read, these services must be on in order to create a new dial-up connection. The Broadband card refuses to connect due to the fact that a dial-up connection cannot be created. The Broadband card and software were installed and working before BM VPN was installed. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling BM VPN, but that didn't fix the problem.
Also, if I look under the Novell Client properties, Location Profiles Tab, VPN, Properties, Properties again, and finally the VPN Dial-Up tab, there is a message that says "A VPN dial-up initialization has occurred. Microsoft Dial-Up Networking is not installed." I don't know if this means anything or is related to the problem, but I thought I'd relay this information as well. I looked for ways to reinstall the Microsoft Dial-Up Networking, but all articles refer to Windows 95 or 98 installations. I've also reinstalled Windows XP SP3 successfully, but it didn't fix the problem.
Has anyone else ever ran into a problem like this and can help me? I'm so lost and desperate for help. Thanks.

I'm not sure how to recover on the system that is currently broken -
though I suspect some form of remove/reinstall MS components should get
    you back running again.
When you install the VPN client, and you select the dial-up option, it
basically tries to integrate the MS dial up networking system into VPN
menus. I don't think it really invents anything new there. If there
is something non-standard on the dial-up entries, it may be that the
VPN installation doesn't handle it properly. I don't know, because
I've not installed that component or used it in years.
What I would recommend is to not install the dial-up component on with
the VPN client. Just leave it off, make a usual dial-up connection,
and then launch the VPN client. The VPN dial-up component just
tries to manage all of that so you do it with less button clicks.

  • Using the WRT54G3G-ST with cellular PCMCIA cards other than Sprint?

I am looking at using a Cingular PCMCIA "aircard" with my laptop, but would also like to take advantage of it at home for a desktops with wi-fi adapter when not in use with my laptop.  The WRT54G3G-ST seems to only be sold from Sprint (in the US at least), but I am wondering whether folks here have experience using it with any other vendor cellular broadband cards?  It would seem that this SHOULD work, but I wanted to see whether there are any known gatchas.

Have you changed Sprint login info to Cingular info?
In notebook, load Sierra Watcher software, verify card connects thru watcher, then ask watcher for particulars of connection to Cingular.
Change all the Sprint connection info to Cingular.
One other problem, Sprint frequencies may differ. Sierra web has pdf with command set of Sierra cards, so you can ask card for frequency band it is using.
Many posts of connecting to Cingular in Linux should apply to G3G connection to Cingular. Many lists of conection protocols are in those posts.
Please reply if it works near fast as same card does in Windiz!

  • TS3308 is there any way to hook up a wireless air card that hooks up through a usb to a ipad

i have a ipad 2 and i want to hook up a wireless air card to it, is it possible do they make a cable for it

There used to be some wifi routers around with a USB port made just for these USB wireless sticks to create a personal hotspot. I don't think they really caught on since they are pretty tough to find by searching the net. I believe they need to be made specifically for this function, routers with USB ports for printers and hard drives do not work. Your other option is to plug it into a computer and create an "ad-hoc" wifi network with the computer.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software shuts down when running Sprint Smart View Internet Service (Air Card)

Just installed Blackberry Desktop Software and it runs ok when I am not running Sprint Smart View (This is my program for my internet service / sprint air card).  As soon as I start Sprint Smart View the desktop software no longer works and just shuts itself down after a minute or two.

I'm not familiar with this particular package, but with similar packages from other carriers there's usually a setting that lets the program control your Network - it may only say Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry drivers include a Dial-Up connection which is probably getting shut down by the software which kills Desktop Manager.
If you turn off that option, the problem should go away (reboot probably a good idea).

  • 3G AT&T air cards not working with iChat, Please Help!!!

We have a macbook air, a black macbook and a macbook pro running 10.5.2. We can do audio and video conferencing with the local network with either airport or ethernet with the regular internet service provider. When we switch to the air cards (AirCard 875 USB) they can connect and chat but when they try to do video conferencing an error comes up saying that, well, en error had occurred. switching back to the local network, and all works fine. I'm sure we're not the only people using these cards using iChat so if anybody has come across this or similar issues please comment on this, thank you.

That was the older post. at this point we can forget about firewalls and airport. this is all thru the air cards. mentioning the local network (which does not have a firewall) was to point out that iChat seems to work fine and it's not a software issue in the computer end of it. Unless we can go into the aircard's settings and open ports there... if that makes any sense?

  • Still trying to bridge to Verizon air card

First, thanks to all who responded to “Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger > Getting Online & Networking > Bridge to Verizon air card”
I’m sure that would have worked had I been more networking literate.
I now connect via new MacBook Pro & Verizon UM175VW USB air card & still unable to bridge from my old PowerBook G4 via my wireless LAN. If anyone out there is able to do this, please let me know how.
Now, the only way I can get online with the G4 is to plug the air card into it.
    Thanks
    Richard

Thanks Richard, I thought so but wanted to be certain.
I'm not 100% positive it can or cannot be done through the LAN, but I don't think it can, but might be possible if you want to really try that route... more on that if you decide that way.
The easiest way to do it is...
Enable Internet Sharing on the MBP only... System Preferences>Sharing>Internet Tab, From: Verizon card, (or how ever it's listed), To: Computers using Airport, then back to the Services Tab & check Personal Web Sharing also.
Give it a minute or two, then on the PB>Airport icon, see if there's another network to join, (the MBP), if not toggle Airport off/on on the PB. Make certain in Network>Airport that various settings allow seeing a new network.

  • Is there a conflict with Mountain Lion and ATT air card?

I have an ATT USBconnect Momentum 4G air card. Ever since I installed Mountain Lion I am getting an error message that says that something is trying to modify the configuration. Is there a conflict with Mountain Lion and the ATT 4G air card? If so, is there something I can do about it? Thanks!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Why won't my air card work?

Ever since I upgraded to Lion and iCloud, my air card won't work. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? All I get is a message that says the device I'm trying to use doesn't exist. It worked perfectly before. Thank you.

Can you give us more details than just "doesn't work"? The exact text of any error message will help.
    Regards.

  • Air Card Compatibility

Im looking to buy a new Imac. I use a pcmcia air card for my internet connection. I would like to see if there are adapters for the air card, to adapt it to the Imac.

While I have not personally used them, there are USB to PCMCIA adaptors. This should work with your card, but you probably want to check with the manufactor to make sure. Below is a link to one that I found, there are others, but it is a place to start.

  • Air Card and Lion--

I'm having trouble using my Sierra Shockwave Wireless Air Card since installing Lion? Has anybody else had this problem? lt

I have a Verizon air card and the first time I tried to use it with Lion, I had the same issue.  I noticed a new wireless signal indicator in the upper right hand status bar (just to the left of the Time Machine icon) and was able to go in that way.  It works like a champ.  In fact, I am using it now!

  • Air card?

I read on the RV.net website that I can buy an air card and have internet access anyplace. What do I buy for a Mac? I have an iPhone. Do I have the air card and i phone on the same account? What is the cost a month for the air card? Thank you. Pat

For a MacBook, you'd be looking at a device like this one. It connect to your computer's USB port and provides access to the Internet via the cell carrier's network. Connectivity will of course depend on cellphone support in your location at the time you wish to connect.
The upcoming upgrade to the iPhone's software would allow the iPhone to be used to connect a computer to the Internet (the feature is referred to as "tethering") but AT&T has not, to my knowledge, said whether they will offer a plan for the iPhone to allow it.
