Cellular Data Connection after reboot

I have an Nokia ICON and i've noticed that the phone can take over an hour to login to the cellular data network after a reboot. I can make calls and get texts but I cannot do any data functions for a REALLY long time. I never had this problem when I was on an iPhone on Verizon so I know it's not the carrier (or is it?). Anyone else experiencing really long times to connect to the data network?
-Patrick

I will assume that your iPhone was older than the ICON because I would further assume you updated to an ICON from an iPhone, therefore the iPhone was possibly 3G which is not LTE capable. So it is likely that there are LTE issues in your area. Have you called *611 yet to let the tech representative know of your issue? I know things can be frustrating but it is best not to be quick to assume there is a problem with your phone and say that: "I didn't have a problem with my iPhone". The reason I bring that up is because there are already too many people out there that think their platform is the best and at the first sign of issues of another platform just reinforces why their platform is the best. This may not be how you feel, but it best not to even bring your other phone up, because it just adds to issue that keeps people buying iPhones for untrue reasons. People that do this have what is coined: Cognitive Dissonance Denial. I am not saying Windows phone is the best, I actually like Android's OS, but I like the Windows Phone OS's sleekness. But I do believe people need to be a whole lot less harsh on the Windows platform.

  • Problems with Cellular Data Connection after 6.1.3 upgrade

Have had nothting but problems after installing this upgrade.  My iPad 3rd generation 4G (Verizon) is continually searching for data service ever since I installed this upgrade.  It has never been able to connect to cellular, but WiFi connectivitity is fine.  Even worse, the iPad now shuts itself down and reboots after just a few minutes of use.  HELP!!!

Solved by keeping both buttons for 15 s for turning off and mad recovery from backup.

  • Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old.

Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old. It;s been working perfectly up until now.  I have no problem on my home WIFI, or through personal hotspot working through my iPhone 5.
I have worked with AT&T, replaced the SIM card with a new one, and done a backup/restore to factory settings, all with the same result that when I turn Cellular
Data on, with or without Enable LTE, it goes into "searching" mode, or reports "no service".  My iPhone 5 works perfectly on iOS 8.1.2, on Cellular.  I've browsed the blogs and have tried Apple's suggested fix, all to no result.
Oddly enough, every once in a while I do get connected to the network for a short ime (minutes), but it always returns to "searching".
I've filed a report with Apple, along with a request that they contact me, but no results yet.
    Help? (and thank you).

Hello razmee209.  Thank you for your response.  I spent the better part of yesterday working with Apple Support.  They tried their best, to include backing up photos to my HP laptop, backing up the iPad to iCloud, then resetting the iPad in total.  Same problem.  I restored from the cloud to recover my apps, same problem.
AT&T installed a new sim card - same problem.  I spent time with AT&T Support yesterday, too.  In both cases, (Apple and AT&T) the support techs who worked with me were extremely polite, courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities, but I think the problem lies deeper, and nobody at Apple is admitting they have a problem with iOS 8, that I'm aware of.
I didn't have this issue before I upgraded to iOS 8.1.2.
Everything else with the iPad works fine:  WIFI, Personal Hotspot, email, all my apps, etc.
In browsing the web for this issue I see that many other folks have the same problem.  I filed a report with Apple this morning, requesting that they contact me, but no word yet.  I was going to go to iPhone 6, and had been considering the iPad Air 2, but I see reports of this problem with those units as well.
At this point I don't think I'll be spending any more money with Apple, at least not till this issue is resolved.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions.

  • Why do i have to restart my iphone 4 to connect to cellular data network after moving out of wifi range?

Whenever I move out of a wifi zone, I expect my iphone to connect to cellular data automatically. But this doesn't happen. I have tried turning flight mode on/off and also tried turning cellular data on / off couple of times, but nothing works.
I only get the cellular data connection back after I restart my iphone.
I started having this problem after upgrading to iOS7.
Any idea how to fix this?

    Hi beingkejo,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Toggling Airplane mode and cellular data are good troubleshooting steps. If your iPhone still does not connect to cellular data automatically when Wi-Fi disconnects, I recommend the additional steps in this article:

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED!!! No data connectivity after a while, weird errors

I am using T-Mobile's regular prepaid web plan and Wi-Fi just fine, no need for BIS, Rich Email, or BBM (SMS and MMS is just fine). All I ever use are apps that SPECIFICALLY state that they work over standard TCP/IP and Wi-Fi. The problem is, after some time, the apps that one worked over regular data connections and MMS don't connect anymore. Even though the apps said that no BIS is needed, they can't access data. Even RIM's own Facebook app, which claims to work over Wi-Fi (and does) loses data connectivity after a day or so without a full reboot. The only thing that works is the BlackBerry Browser, which still connects to the internet. Along with the apps failing to work, MMS messages also can't be sent.
Rebooting the phone by a battery pull or alt-shift-delete allows the apps and MMS to work, which after a day (sometimes even shorter) stops working again.
Here's what I've done so far:
    - Checked and made sure that all permissions for data access
    - Checked that my APN settings are correct: epc.tmobile.com
    - Checked my Wi-Fi router for connectivity
    - Called  T-Mobile tech support for help, wiped my phone upon their instruction
    - Reinstalled my apps and contacts, T-Mobile sent me new service books
Still the SAME THING with apps and MMS not working after a while. I've narrowed it down to entries in the event log that show up as this, which shows up seconds before my apps and MMS stop working:
    a net.rim.hrtRT - PUpI - 9/23 17:06:58
    a net.rim.hrtRT - EPdp 0x3 - 9/23 17:06:58
    a net.rim.tunnel - Clos-blackberry.net - 9/23 17:06:58
    a net.rim.hrtRT - CClG 0x2 - 9/23 17:06:58
    W net.rim.hrtRT - XMax - 9/23 17:06:58
    W net.rim.hrtRT - XBad - 9/23 17:06:58
    E net.rim.mdp - TEma - 9/23 17:06:58
    W net.rim.mdp - TDtm - 9/23 17:06:58
    i net.rim.mdp - TTex - 9/23 17:06:58
Can any experts or developers tell me what these Warnings and Errors mean? I am pretty sure that whatever "net.rim.mdp" and "net.rim.hrtRT" is doing isn't good.

    anyone care to help???
Also, on the 18th I wiped my phone again, and three days later (longest time with no mdp error) the same error occurred in the event log, no internet connectivity afterwards on Wi-Fi or Mobile Network...

  • Lost data connectivity after upgrading iPhone 4 to iOS 5. How to fix?

    Hello,
I upgraded my 16GB iPhone 4 yesterday from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS 5 and everything went fine after a few failed connections to Apple's servers, however my phone lost the data connectivity completely. Phone and SMS worked fine, I could also connect through wi-fi with no problems, however whenever I tried to use data I got a message that my phone was not signed to an internet service.
I restored my phone from the backup after upgrading. Not successful. I also reset the network configurations. No deal.
My carrier is Vivo (Brazil) and everything worked fine prior to the upgrade (and after the downgrade).
I imagine it can be a problem with APN configuration under iOS 5 and I tried to configure it through a webpage, but I got a message that my phone already had a APN config (profile) and could not install another. Under Settings>General>Network I don't have the "mobile network option" nor the "profile" option.
Any thoughts? So far I haven't contacted other people under my carrier who upgraded to see if they had the same problem.
    Thanks for reading,
    Samuel

I got a workaround; it's not what I wanted, but it solves the main problem.
I noticed that I only lost data connectivity after restoring from backup after the iOS 5 update. So what I did was to backup my phone, restore again to iOS 5, configure as a new phone and backup again (with nothing in the phone).
Then I launched an iPhone backup utility software, in this case, iBackupBot, which in the trial version is enough for what I wanted. I opened the old backup and exported only the files I wanted (like call history and SMS history), then I imported these files into the new backup and restored from it.
I lost my media files (which I copied before) and some configurations, but the most important itens, like SMS, I managed to export from the old (complete) backup.

  • Lost cellular data connection

Iphone 4...AT&T...I have been losing my cellular data connection for hours at a time not dependent on location.  Upgrades to 6 last night...AT&T says it appears I am connected...reset network connections, next step full reset...anyone else having this issue?

    Hello Theresa818,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the cellular data will not activate for some reason on the iPad.
I found this article that will help you resolve this issue here, named iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Models): Troubleshooting a cellular data connection, found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4249
Check for a carrier settings update.
    Update your iPad.
Toggle the Cellular Data setting off and on under Settings > Cellular Data.
    Restart your iPad.
Tap Settings > General > About. Locate the Carrier entry and make sure that your carrier is correct.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Cellular Data > SIM PIN.
Make sure you're in an area of good coverage. If the cellular data connection works in another area, contact your carrier to report the original affected area.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPad as new.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, contact your carrier, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
I know you may have done one or two of the steps here, so you can skip those.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • IPhone 4S - No Cellular Data Activity After Updating To iOS 8.0.2

My phone is unable to activate and/or use cellular data after updating to iOS 8. I have already installed 8.0.2 which promised to fix these issues; and it has not. Google Maps, Chrome, Safari, iMessage...none of these features work unless connected to WiFi. E-mail does not update and the phone is entirely useless without WiFi (even regular phone calls are sporadic). I am at a time in my life where having constant and reliable access to my e-mail, GPS, text messages and phone calls is vital to my daily life, as well as my future (new job application responses, current job responsibilities, etc.) Can anyone help with these issues? If not, Apple has surely lost a customer. Totally unacceptable.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Note- I had NONE of these issues prior to the dreadful update.

I'm a developer.  I had this problem with my app for about  a week until I found the culprit.  For reasons the are not clear, my Ajax calls came back with an extra "0" on the return, which threw everything off for my app.  This only happened on AT&T.  It worked fine with all other providers.  I found the solution in Stack and then implemented it.  Fixed it for us.
Here is the problem & solution for other developers having the same problem.
The problem is apparently unique to AT&T, and is described below with a proposed solutuion.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25922199/php-appends-0-at-the-end-in-mobile-b rowsers/25923471#25923471
Not sure if this is a result of AT&T throttling, or some other issue unique to them, but I just wanted to make sure other developers were aware of it because my team and I wasted a full week trying to relolve this.

  • No cellular data connection

All of a sudden my cellular connection stopped.  iPhones and other tables on the same Verizon plan work fine.  Rebooting didn't work.  Turning cellular data off and back on didn't work either,  Verizon hold time is so long!  Any ideas appreciated.

First take out Sim card in turn off cellular data, next reboot your phone by holding the power button and home button for 4-5 seconds. Once phone has rebooted put sim card back in tray and turn back on cellular data.
                              -Hope this Helps

  • Use Mobile Data For: Settings - Why does Settings need a cellular data connection?

    iPhone 5 iOS 8.1
Settings > Mobile > Use Mobile Data For: Settings
Just curious, why does the iPhone need this turned on? Why does the settings app need a cellular mobile data connection?
If you turn it off, you're pestered to turn it on every time you go into settings?

Because, that's the way Siri works...it needs an Internet connection...requests are sent to Apple's servers. No Internet, no Siri.

  • HT1937 my cellular data connection works in one location but not in another

Why does my iPhone's data connection work at other places but not at work?
    It works sometimes.

Good question to ask your cell phone provider.. Maybe the material the building is made of is blocking the cellular data signal.
